Chapter 14

.

The official reason for president Odonnell going to Texas was for a ceremony honoring first responders who saved lives after a car crashed into a gas station on July 27th. But the military arranged for a secret place for the flying saucer to land in the middle of the desert at night. Despite the saucer's best efforts, there was the possibility of being detected by some private satellite. With the president were a number of agriculture experts and computer technicians. They all had the neccessary computer clearence, and they would likely be able to tell if the alien technology really could end world hunger. Jed Bartlett was now acting president, just in case. Even if the alien's intentions were peaceful, Ryan Odonnell was 88 years old and this was a stressful job. It was always possible that his heart could suddenly give out. Bartlett wouldn't assume the worst, butif neccessary he would respond militarily. When the saucer arrived, it looked to be the approximate size of a house, not nearly big enough to hold 12 million refugees. Clearly this was just big enough for their ambassador and their own experts. The saucer opened, the president and his experts went inside. He was also accompanied by two Secret Service agents, how they were able to hold it together, even they weren't sure. There were a few aliens, all in space suits. Likely their bodies couldn't yet adapt to Earth. If they were from the same species that abducted Travis Walton they evidently hadn't perfected the vaccine yet. They spoke english well enough however, and directed the experts to go to one room for a demonstration, and for the president and his bodyguard to go to another room. The president and his guards went to the designated room, it looked to be a typical office. The ambassador was in a chair, but the back was turned and the president couldn't see the ambassador. Standing next to the chair was someone wearing a robe. Whether this was a bodyguard, or some sort of spiritual advisor, that was a very good question about their culture. Then the ambassador turned their chair around, and the president could see him clearly. To his shock, the alien ambassador looked exactly like the president.
