Chapter 15

Pre-Battle Planning (Part 1)

Previously on Pair of Kings….

Boz smiles at his brother, and the two begin to make their way back towards the castle. After all, they had to do this quick; after all, they only had till midnight. As both brothers walked, Boomer explains his plan to Boz. Both brothers were now more determined than ever to save their brother and defeat Nagoro once and for all…

Upon arriving at the castle, the two brothers instantly made a rush for the royal vault. Punching in the code, the boys began to look for the great book as soon as the doors were open.
Sadly, as they looked, they could not; they could not find the book anywhere.

"It has to be here…." Boomer cries out, now slightly panicking. "….I swear I saw it here this morning." Boomer finishes as he tries to keep himself calm, failing to do so.

"Relax, bro, we'll find it," Boz says with a supportive smile.

Just as he says that Mikayla comes walking into the room. The great book is in her hands, and she's reading it. Not noticing the two kings, Mikayla sits down on the couch and plops her feet up on the footrest.
She happily continues reading as Boomer and Boz give each other a glance but eyes Mikayla oddly. They walk over to her.

"Hey, Mikayla – "Boomer greets, making the guard girl look up in surprise. Boomer and Boz are on either side of her.
Boomer smiles at her. "– Why are you reading the great book? Don't you know everything about Kinkow?" Boomer questions with confusion.

Mikayla sighs and slightly rolls her eyes at him before saying, "I do. But I'm just doing a research paper about Kinkow's history for the school. So, where else to look, but the great book?"
Mikayla finishes as she smiles at him.

Boz nods, "Great, that's good and all…." Boz began. "…But, can we have it?"

"What? Why? I'm using it." Mikayla questions in confusion.

"We need it to save Brady." Boomer slips out before stopping himself, and he frowns when he realizes he said. No going back now, she would demand answers.

Hearing this, Mikayla closes the book instantly and jumps up. Glaring at the two brothers, she frowns. "What!? What do you mean, save Brady?" Mikayla demands as she starts to get worried.
"Did he get hurt while you were at the beach?" Mikayla questions with wide eyes.

Boz frowns. "Kind of…"

"Oh my gosh!? What!? Where is Brady?" Mikayla demands as she grabs hold of Boomer's shirt, shaking him some.

"First of all, calm down…" Boomer demands as he makes Mikayla stop shaking him. "…Secondly, he did almost drown, but he is alive and okay.
However, Nagoro has him. He wants us to trade our kings for Brady…." Boomer finishes with a frown.

Mikayla eyes Boomer and Boz. She frowns at this news, "Oh… I'm assuming you're going to trade your rings then? It makes sense; Brady is your brother…"
Mikayla babbles with a sigh as she sits down on the couch again.

"Well, that's the thing. Boomer has an awesome plan." Boz states with a smile. "He believes that our kings can create a third ring for Brady.
With the powers from all three of us together, we can defeat Nagoro once and for all." Boz finishes with excitement.

"That's not a bad idea. Looking through this book again, I saw something about the family's royal family has a special kind of magic in their blood.
So, that explains why the rings answer to you. But how would you be able to create the third ring?" Mikayla questions in amazement at the idea.

Before she knew what was happening, Boomer took the great book from her. Instantly, he started to flip through pages until he stopped at a section and gestured to it. He smiles and says, "Here it reads, when desperate times call for desperate measures, the king rings will answer to its lost sister ring when the time comes. For it to work, a royal family member must be in a damsel disrupt and evil at large. Once the ring is called upon, it will be made, and the royal family will be able to save the day." Boomer explains with a smile. He then looks at it again. "Wow, this book is oddly specific…" Boomer finishes as he thinks. "….It has answers for everything. I really should read this more often." Boomer states as he sighs.

Boz goes to speak when Mikayla cuts in and stops him, "Never mind that. Since we know that you two can create a third ring for Brady…., how is it done? How do you create it?"
Mikayla demands, not wanting to get into an argument and move on with things.

"It says right here…" Boomer states as he points back down to the book. He reads, "For two kings to make the third ring, they must journey to the heart of the island, which is Mount Spew. There they must put their rings together at the top of the volcano, think of the royal family member they wish to speak, and recite this ancient chant…" Boomer explains as he shows Boz and Mikayla the ancient writing. He then continues, "…after reciting the ancient chant, the two rings should glow, Mount Spew should shake in response, and the third rings should appear to them…" Boomer finishes with a grin.

"Wow, that book is specific." Boz comments in surprise at the description.

Mikayla sighs and rolls her eyes slightly at the brothers. "Is there anything else it says in there for that? Or is that it?" Mikayla wonders as she paces lightly.

Boomer shakes his head, "Nope, that's it. That's all we have to do to get the third ring, save Brady, and defeat Nagoro." Boomer finishes with a smile.

"Very well then, shall we get going on carrying out this plan!?" Mikayla questions simply.

"Whoa, who said you were coming?" Boomer questions with slight confusion.

"I did. I'm your bodyguard, so I'm coming, and that's final." Mikayla finishes as she pulls her machete out and holds it in her hand if she needed it.
She smiles at the brothers who eye her with slight concern and worry. "Now go on, let's start our journey to Mount Spew!"
Mikayla finishes as she finally gets the two to start walking out of the castle and towards the old volcano.

As they walked towards the volcano, Boomer mouths to Boz, "Something tells me this is gonna be a long journey…" Boomer finishes as he and Boz laugh to themselves.

They then hear Mikayla say, "What was that!?" In a warning tone.

Eyeing one another, they say innocently "Nothing" before taking off running towards their destination, not wanting to be caught.

"That's right, you better run!" Mikayla yells as she runs after them.

Both brothers could hope that they made it to Mount Spew before Mikayla caught them…
