"Who knows what true happiness is, not the conventional word.. but the naked terror. To the lonely themselves, that wears a mask, the most miserable outcast hugs some memory.. or some illusion."

Karen's Cafe

"What are you doing here.? How do you know.?" Karen began ask.

"He's working at hte front register. Wearing a uniform. He doesn't the connection you have to him does he.? What exactly are you getting out of this.? You could of turned him down when he applied here but you didn't. Why is that.?" Lucas asked.

Ignoring the multiple alerts going off on his cellphone.

Karen breathed deeply. Staring back at her son.

"He's the only connection to you i have left. Is it so wrong that felt the need to hold on and cling to that.?" Karen replied.

"Yes it's wrong. My son isn't you're keepsake for the mistakes of the past that you made. The reason you're life is a shell of what it once was is because of you're choices. When i needed you're love and support. You rejected me. Just like you're parents did to you. Whatever bond you're building with Keith is based off a lie."

"When he finds out about that. He won't want anything to do with you." Lucas stated.

"That's where you're wrong my boy. He'll forgive me. I can't say the same for you and Brooke. I didn't abandon him. The two of you did." Karen replied.

A hurt expression went across Lucas's face as he turned from her and left the back room.

Karen knew she had hit below the belt but if she was honest she didn't care. This was her second chance and no one would get in the way of that.

...

Lucas left the cafe with the muffins and drinks for Sam and Scarlett. He placed it all in the passenger seat. He still couldn't shake it the coldness between himself and Keith. Made his heart ache with a pain he couldn't describe. His mother's involvement now being brought to light was just pouring salt into the wounds. Twisting the knife on an already complicated situation.

He drove slowly needing to clear his mind. And compose himself enough to be in front of his children again. When he eventually reached the driveway of the home the couple shared.

Lucas knew he had to look into what was going on around social media. The notifications had been going off for awhile.

He parked in the driveway and looked at his phone. His eyes going wide as he read the latest headline.

Brooke Davis

Drunk.? out of her mind.? Or maybe she's cracking under the pressure of running that clothing company of hers.?

It was other people at the bar who called the cops. The barentender had cut off her off. Refused to serve anymore drinks it was then that Brooke began to argue and throw glasses.

She was clearly angery and drunk. Who knows what else.

I guess it's good her knight in shining armor showed up when he did.

Brooke Davis was released from police custody after making her bail. She was rushed into an expensive, fast moving car. By the one and only Chris Keller.

"Son of a Bitch!" Lucas yelled. He gripped the steering wheel so tightly he was sure it would come off.

Lucas saw red as he drove. He knew exactly where Chris was staying. He lived his life on social media. Finding the hotel he was at was access to the room number even easier.

...

"Eat as much room service as you want. It's on me." Chris stated.

"I needed that shower. The burger and fries i had is finally starting to kick 's knocking at you're door. Should i get it.?" Brooke asked.

"Go right ahead. It's probably housekeeping." Chris replied.

Brooke unlocked and opened the door.

Lucas locked eyes on his wife wearing only a hotel robe and slippers.

Chris Keller had that grin on his face. So smug and entitled.

"This isn't what it looks like." Chris stated instantly defending himself.

"Get you're stuff i'm taking you home." Lucas said. Looking to Brooke.

"Luke. I'm sorry." Brooke confessed. Blinking back tears as she turned from him to gather her things.

...

Author's Note : Brooke and Chris did not hook up. Need to clarify that.
