Part 15: Rescuing Korra
Jak rode on Nagas back towards city hall, when he got there he noticed police trucks parked outside. He rode up to the door before getting off the polar dogs back, "Ill be right back girl," he said petting her head before heading inside. He noticed the crater in the room with an electric glove in it and a rope trap around a pillar.
"Jak," said Tenzin getting his attention. Jak looked to see Tenzin standing with Saikon and Tarlok who was holding his right arm.
"Tarlok," said Jak walking forward, "What happened?" He asked looking serious.
"I'm sorry avatar, avatar Korra came to visit me last night asking me about your friends who were imprisoned, she asked me to free them and that's when equalists attacked us," said Tarlok, "We fought and I tried to help her but I was shocked by one of those gloves, when I came to Korra was gone,".
Tarlok then looked at Saikon, "I want every officer out there looking, we must find avatar Korra," he said before leaving the room.
"Ill get to work right away," Saikon said.
"Don't worry will find her," said Tenzin looking at Jak who looked annoyed.
"Ill see if Naga can catch her sent," he said before walking outside and getting Naga to find her scent. The scent ended when they reached the garage and Naga whined, "I'm sorry girl, don't worry will find her," he said petting her head before he headed to Tenzins office.
"Any luck?" Tenzin asked as he walked in. Jak shook his head before sitting down when the door opened revealing Lin, Mako, Bolin and Asami.
"Lin shouldn't you be in the hospital and you three, weren't you in Jail," said Tenzin.
"We heard what happened to Korra, has there been any sign of her?" Lin asked.
"No, all the officers are out looking," said Tenzin.
"What about Naga, couldn't she track Korras scent," said Mako.
"She tried, the scent ended in the buildings garage, they probably put her in a vehicle and drove off somewhere," Jak said looking annoyed.
"The equalists could have her and that's probably the same place they took my officers," said Lin.
"They could be somewhere underground, like my fathers factory," said Asami looking down.
"Well for now its the only lead we have," said Mako placing a hand on her shoulder.
"You know that I think about it back when I was captured, it did sound like we were going through a tunnel," said Bolin.
"Lets go," said Tenzin getting up from his desk.
When they got outside Jak rode on Naga while the rest of the group flew above on Oogi. When they reached the alley where Bolin was captured, "The truck that took Bolin went down this way," he said.
Lin stomped her foot on the ground, "Theres a tunnel not far from here," she said. They went in the direction she pointed and found a large gate.
"She could be down there along with my officers," said Lin.
"Then lets go," said Jak taking out his staff as Lin bended the gate up, "Wait here, okay girl," he said petting Nagas head before following the group. They started walking down a tunnel with Mako using fire as a light.
When they got further down, "I hear something get back," said Lin as they all stepped to the side when two motor bikes drove down from the tunnel. Jak looked to see them drive towards a wall before it opened up revealing a tunnel. The two bikes drove through and the group followed after them. When they got further down the tunnel they noticed two equalists standing next to tracks when a small cart came into the room with one equalist on it, "That was everything delivered to the prison," he said.
"Looks like we're going to need that," said Jak before running forward, he took out the two equalists with a slash of air from his staff while Lin took out the one on the cart with cables. They took the cart down the tunnel to the prison, they got off the cart before they reached the room. When the equalists looked at the cart Lin pulled them back and Jak knocked them out.
They walked to the stairs after tieing up the equalists, "Can you find Korra?" Jak asked Lin as she stamped her foot on the ground.
"My officers are further up, theres no sign of Korra yet," said Lin heading up the stairs.
"Then we just gotta keep looking," said Bolin. Jak nodded before they headed up stairs and then found two equalists. Jak opened his bottle of water and shot water forward. Freezing the two of them to the wall.
Jak took off one of their masks, "Avatar Korra where is she," he said looking serious.
"Shes not here, were not the ones who attacked city hall," he said.
"What?" Jak asked looking confused.
"Its true," Lin said walking over with her officers, "Ive scanned this whole place, theres no sign of her here," she said looking annoyed.
"Tarlok lied to us, let's go," said Jak as they ran back to the cart. When they went down the tunnel Jak looked forward seeing more equalists and the man wielding electric batons.
"We got more company, you think you can make a hole in the ceiling?" Lin asked looking at Jak who nodded. Lin bended the rails up and Jak made a hole in the ceiling the cart shot out of.
They landed in another tunnel and headed back to Oogi and Naga. "Ill call for a council meeting," Tenzin said.
Later on Jak, Tenzin, Mako, Asami, Bolin and Lin walked into the council room where the other council members accept for Tarlok and Saikon were waiting, "Thank you all for coming," Tenzin said.
"Whats going on here?" Saikon asked.
"Hopefully will find out soon," said Tenzin when Tarlok walked in.
"Whats happening, has avatar Korra been found," said Tarlok.
"Where is Korra," Jak said taking the cap off his bottle.
"I don't understand, I'm trying to help you find avatar Korra," said Tarlok looking confused.
"You planted that evidence didn't you, just tell us where you've taken her," Tenzin said looking serious.
"This is ridiculous, I don't know," Tarlok said when a voice interrupted him from the second floor.
"Excuse me, I saw what happened," she said. Jak looked to see an old woman wearing glasses and she looked nervous.
"What happened?" Jak asked.
"Avatar Korra was here, but I saw councilman Tarlok take her to the garage," she said.
"Why didn't you say anything sooner?" Lin asked.
"Because I was afraid, councilman Tarlok is a blood bender," she said making the council members and the other look shocked. Jak clenched his fists.
"That's ridiculous everyone here knows you're a liar," said Tarlok looking annoyed.
"No shes not," Jak said stepping forward. Tarlok backed away and just before he could lift his hands Jak sent him flying into the wall with a blast of fire. He then froze him to the wall with water.
"Where is Korra," said Jak lighting a fire in his right hand as he looked at Tarlok with angered look on his face.
"Shes in a cabin, out in the mountains," said Tarlok looking annoyed as the ice fell apart. Then Jak punched him across the face, knocking him out.
Before anyone could say anything Jak ran outside and got on Naga and ran to the mountains. It was night out by the time he reached the cabin and ran inside.
"Korra," he said.
"Jak," she said from downstairs. Jak quickly ran down to find a large metal box, he quickly opened it, finding Korra who smiled before quickly hugging him.
"Thank goodness your alright," he said hugging her back as tears of relief fell from his eyes. The two of them walked outside when Naga barked at a truck and Amon stepped out of it.
"Naga go," Jak said getting Korra onto the saddle before the polar dog went off.
"Jak," Korra said. Amon ran at Jak who sent a wave a snow at him before running after Naga. He then reached a hill and slid down it. When he reached the bottom he looked back to see Amon wasn't following him.
He sighed before Naga walked over with Korra, "Thanks for waiting for me," he said petting the polar dogs head before getting on the saddle behind Korra.
"Tarlok hes," she said sounding tired.
"A blood bender, I know just get some rest," he said wrapping his arms around her waist as she rested on his chest.
"Hes, Yakones son," she said before falling asleep. Naga ran to republic city when Oogi landed in front of them.
"Korra," said Tenzin as he and Lin jumped to the ground, "What happened, is she okay?" He asked.
"We ran into Amon but got away, will talk later, right now she needs to rest," said Jak before they headed back to air temple island. Jak carried Korra to her room and pulled the covers over her.
He then walked outside her room meeting Lin and Tenzin, "Does the name Yakone mean anything?" He asked.
"Yes, he was dangerous criminal a long time ago, my father defeated him and took away his bending," said Tenzin.
"Apparently Tarloks his son," Jak said.
"That would make sense on how he was able to blood bend without a full moon," said Lin looking serious, "For now hes locked up, so what now?" She asked.
"Right now, Korra needs rest, ill keep an eye on her," said Jak.
"Of course," Tenzin said. Jak walked back into the room and shut the door before sitting next to Korra's bed and held her hand. He let out a breath, feeling happy that she's okay and safe.
