The rest of the weekend was quiet after that and the majority of the week went by without anything too exciting happening. Most of Luna's classmates were focused on deciding what agency's they wanted to do their work studies with, however it wasn't as simple as choosing just any agency. The students had to choose only agencies with good reputations and track records with taking in interns; and before Luna knew it, it was the weekend again as she watched Midoriya run out of the dorm house quickly. She shook her head with a chuckle as she sipped on the freshly brewed cup of coffee she had made. She walked up to her room, lately she had been thinking about different ideas for her hero costume; wanting to make a change. She opened the door and froze, the room completely covered in beautiful multicolored roses; she looked around, completely blown away. Small crimson feathers peppered her floor and she picked one of them up, wondering how Keigo had managed to do this in the small window of time that she had woken up and made her coffee. She smiled to herself.
He's something else, but I'm going to kill him; he needs to be more careful, he could have been seen.
Ochaco had walked to Luna's room and stopped as she looked around at all the floral arrangements.
"Is this your man's doing?" She walked in and touched a couple of the flowers.
"Yeah, he really should be more careful. Things are going to get weird if someone catches him sneaking in and out of my room." She looked at Ochaco who was holding some of the roses.
"Want to help me spread these around the dorm? I know he got them for me, but there is no way I can keep all of them in here." So her and Ochaco started on their mission, a couple of the other girls joined in and took arrangements for themselves. After a few hours the only arrangement left was one that she figured Keigo had put together special for her. It was an arrangement of cobalt, crimson and black roses; all of them were real, but had clearly been modified in some way. She looked at the flowers lovingly.
He's gonna spoil me rotten.
She chuckled as she set the arrangement on her nightstand. That night Midoriya had announced that he would be working with Sir Nighteye, a pro hero that used to be All Might's sidekick. Mirio had set up a meeting with the two of them and apparently it had gone really well. Everyone else was feeling a little dejected, however, not sure who they were going to do their studies with.
"Hey, Luna, are you going to do your work study with someone other than your dad?" Kirishima flopped over the top of one of the couches.
"I don't know, I'm in a dual work study so I'll be doing it with whoever needs me." She shrugged and Kirishima blinked at her quickly.
"Dual work study?"
"Yeah, I'm working with two agencies." When she said that Aizawa walked in, gaining everyone's attention.
"Tokoyami, you've gotten an offer to join Hawk's agency for your work study."
"I graciously accept." He nodded.
"Luna, care to introduce them to one another?" Aizawa looked at her and she smiled.
"Yeah, we can go sometime tomorrow to meet him." She looked at Tokoyami who was slightly confused.
"Hawk's agency is the other agency I work with." She answered the question that everyone was wondering.
"So that is how you know him!" Midoriya smiled and she nodded.
"Kirishima, Amajiki would like to talk to you. Asui and Uraraka, Hado has requested to see you two also." With that, he walked out of the room. The three in question were so excited about why two of the Big Three wanted to talk to them that they immediately left to figure it out. The next day, Luna and Tokoyami traveled to Keigo's agency; they walked in to be met with him sleeping on one of the couches in the lobby area. She sighed and Tokoyami looked confused, she held up a finger to tell him to give her a second; she walked over to where Keigo was, flicking him in the forehead. He shot up, rubbing the offended spot; with a frown he looked over to see who had flicked him, but the moment his eye landed on Luna his face lit up with a smile.
"The number three hero shouldn't be sleeping on the job," she chuckled and hooked her thumb behind her, "I've brought your new intern."
She leaned in close to him before he could go anywhere and whispered to him.
"Thank you for the flowers, they were beautiful…but if you do that again, in the daylight like you did, I will hurt you."
She looked at him evenly and he looked at her lovingly.
"I just couldn't help myself. I'll be more careful from now on."
He caressed her cheek with his fingers, careful not to let Tokoyami see him. He then looked behind her to see his new intern and jumped over the top of the couch so that he could walk over and greet him, Luna moved to join them but stopped when she felt her phone ringing. Her father's number flashing across the screen; she answered. After a few minutes she hung up and walked over to the two guys that seemed to be getting along well.
"Hey, you guys going to be okay?" She asked and looked between the two of them.
"Yeah, why?" Keigo looked at her.
"My dad just called; it's an SOS, so I have to go rescue him. You know how it goes." She shrugged and Keigo nodded.
"Ah, yes, Apollo always gets himself into some sort of situation he needs rescuing from. To think he was the number one in America." He joked and Luna nodded.
"You can say that again." She chuckled and waved goodbye to them, taking off in the direction that Apollo had said he was. She landed in a somewhat crowded area and immediately knew that he hadn't sent a legitimate SOS, it was more than likely he was trying to buy something and needed help deciding. Luna sighed as she eventually found him in a little antiques store, she stuck with him as he tried to make a decision and she attempted to give him her input; to which he always refused. Growing frustrated with wondering what the point of him calling was, she walked out of the store; needing to get out of there having spent the past couple hours trying to reason with her father. She stretched her arms out as she walked onto the sidewalk, a flash of green catching her attention and turning to see Midoriya and Mirio both in their hero costumes.
"Deku?" Midoriya turned to meet her eyes, a smile on his face.
"Luna, what are you doing here?" Mirio turned to face her too, she caught up with them and they all started to walk together.
"Shopping with the Old Man, he's been in the same store for the last two hours and I just had to get out," she pointed to the shop on the other side of the road, "you guys look like you're on patrol."
She looked between the two of them, not really needing them to confirm. She knew the look.
"Yeah, uh…" Midoriya looked at Mirio, "I don't actually know your hero name."
He said it sheepishly and Mirio didn't miss a beat.
"Lemillion!" He answered proudly as they continued to walk.
"Yeah, so we -" Midoriya was cut off as a little girl ran into him; she landed on her butt, startled from the impact. Luna looked at her, she looked completely terrified.
"Hey, are you alright?" Midoriya reached out to touch her and she shed away from him.
She's clearly been abused.
Just as Luna thought that, a man walked out of the alley that the young girl had run from. He wore a witch doctor type mask and Luna found it to be a little odd; Mirio immediately pulled Midoriya hood over his face, not that it was going to do much good. The man had probably already gotten a good look at him. Midoriya's nervousness was written all over his face and Luna picked up on something.
This is the guy they were patrolling around for.
"So sorry about that, my daughter seems to have gotten scared. I'm glad that a couple of heroes were here." The man spoke carefully.
Mirio engaged in conversation, trying to cover a little. The man asked what agency the two of them were with and Mirio covered again, if he was being cautious then this guy was bad news. The man then looked at Luna.
"I'm assuming you were asking for their help?"
"Yep." She smiled lightly, keeping it short and sweet.
"I see, in that case…Eri, it's time to go, these nice heroes have a job to do." He spoke to the girl who didn't move an inch and Mirio motioned to Midoriya, telling him that they needed to go. He moved to leave the girl, but she only clung to him harder.
"Um, I'm sorry, but your daughter seems incredibly scared by something." Midoriya stated as he looked at Eri. The situation wasn't looking good. Luna leaned down in such a way that it obscured what she was about to do so that the man didn't become even more suspicious. She rubbed the girls back lightly then brushed a finger across her cheek, swiping away the tears; Luna moved Eri's hair behind her ear and whispered to her.
"Don't worry, everything is going to be alright."
Eri met Luna's eyes and she gave her a reassuring smile, a wave of calm washed over Eri's eyes for a split moment until she heard her father speak again.
"What did you just do?" He asked Luna accusatoryly, she turned her attention back to the man.
"Sorry, I just saw how distraught she was so I was trying to calm her down a little."
She's distraught because of you, you bastard.
Every fiber of her being was screaming to take this guy down, but she knew that she couldn't.
"What have you been doing to this girl?" Midoriya spoke what they were all thinking, Luna balked at him.
He's really throwing caution to the wind right now. Either he is being stupid or brave.
The man sighed.
"It's a little embarrassing, follow me and I'll explain it. There are just too many people around and I don't want them to hear." Luna stood at the entrance of the alleyway as she watched Mirio and Midoriya follow the man; then Luna felt it, she was far away from them but it was like she was right there. The man's intent to kill. Then, in the blink of an eye, Eri released Midoriya and ran back to the man; leaving the two heroes behind. Luna stared at the scene, not fully processing what had just happened; it had all transpired so fast. Apollo had finally made it out of the shop and spotted his daughter, walking towards her.
"Luna…" She turned towards him and he stopped, she looked pale. Midoriya and Mirio walked out of the alleyway, looking equally as pale.
"I need to call Sir and tell him about this." Mirio dialed the pro and stepped away.
"Deku, who the hell was that guy?" Luna asked, Apollo stood there wondering what he had missed.
"His name is Chiaski Kai, but he goes by Overhaul. He's a villain that Sir Nighteye's agency has been investigating." Midoriya explained briefly, Apollo had heard the name before. It wasn't long after that when Nighteye showed up, he asked to have the situation explained to him in which the three of them relayed everything.
"And you are?" Nighteye looked at Luna.
"Right, I'm Luna Gates. My hero alias is Darkstar, I'm a classmate of Midoriya's and the big guy behind me is my dad Apollo." Nighteye nodded at this.
"Luna, do you mind if I talk to Nighteye for a moment?" Apollo looked at his spawn and she nodded, walking over to her two friends.
"Look, I'm going to be straight with you; now that Luna is involved she's not going to want to leave this alone. Is there any way that we can be involved in this? I wouldn't normally ask, but I know how she is."
"No, I completely understand where you are coming from. I'll be getting other agencies involved as well, so I will send you the details as soon as I have them."
~
"Hey! You guys heading out too?" Luna skipped down the steps to catch up with her classmates. Midoriya, Ochaco, Tsu and Kirishima all turned to look at her; they slowed their pace so she could catch up to them.
"Yeah, we all got a call to come in." Luna nodded as they all began to walk together.
"Yeah, me too." They all began to get a little confused when they noticed that they were continuing to all walk together in the same direction and it wasn't until they met up with the Big 3 that they realized that they were all meeting at the same place. Nighteye's agency. They all crossed the threshold and were met with many Pro Heroes gathered in the lobby area. Luna spotted Apollo and walked over to him.
"What is going on?" She continued to scan the room.
"Nighteye has been generous enough to include us on a mission." Apollo gave her a look and she knew exactly what he was talking about.
"Eri." She whispered and he nodded. Nighteye emerged, knowing that everyone was finally there and began the discussion.
"This meeting is in regards to the Yakuza, more directly the Shie Hassaikai." They all filed into a room and took a seat at a large table in the center, Luna and Apollo stood against the wall in front of Nighteye when all of the seats filled up. Nighteye's sidekicks began to explain the situation. They went into how the agency tailed a team from the Yakuza clan and found evidence that they had an encounter with the League of Villains. Luna swallowed quickly, those harsh blue flames ripping across her eyes.
No, don't let it get to you. You're stronger than that.
Luna scolded herself and continued to listen. She continued to watch the discussions unfold in front of her, but wasn't exactly processing them. It wasn't until Nighteye brought up the fact that Luna, Midoriya and Mirio encountered Eri that she snapped back to reality. Luna couldn't stop her eyes from going to her two friends, their heads hung low. Luna thought about Eri also.
Should we have fought harder to keep her from going back to that man?
She closed her eyes, a deep sigh coming from her. Apollo gave her a sidelong look, knowing exactly what was going through her mind. Midoriya and Mirio both stood up abruptly and declared that they would save Eri the next time, that they would make sure to protect her. Luna watched them, smiling at how strong the two of them were. Nighteye nodded and continued onto what everyone was ready to hear; the plan to rescue Eri and put a stop to Shie Hassaikai. Nighteye went on to say that it was crucial that they find the location of the young girl and obtain solid evidence before they strike. There were a few more things that were briefly discussed and then the meeting concluded; Luna and the rest of the students all walked into a back room, thinking over everything that was said in the meeting when Aizawa came in.
"Hey, keep your heads up and keep fighting. You are all incredibly strong, that's one of the reasons that you are all here right now. Though knowing that the League is involved do you all still want to go through with it?" Aizawa's eyes roamed over all of the students, staying longer on Midoriya and Luna. Luna nodded, as did the rest of them. Aizawa sighed, he should have known that was going to be their response.
"Then I'll be watching, make me proud," He leaned down in front of Midoriya and pressed his fist softly to his chest, "this time don't let her go; you got that, Problem Child?"
