Chapter 14 Surrounding France

A.N. – So this is the final multi-country chapter but also puts pressure on the security program as this sets up for the final battle and final assault on Paris. Naturally, next chapter would be an assault on France, BUT I have four chapters planned for something special. For now, enjoy!

Short Summary – Jeremy knows that the resistance is close to recapturing Europe, and wants it done quickly. The gang returns and they plan to push West towards France. Even though it is quick, they do not know of the security program's secret plot he is planning.

Germany

Ulrich, still shaken up from the events that transpired, was heading to where his mother was rumored to be. His father gave him no location. The gang told him nothing if she was at his house when they went to get his father. So, the first place for Ulrich to check would be his house. He approached the door.

"Hello, mom? It's me Ulrich. Are you there?" Ulrich said.

There was no response.

"Is she there?" Aelita asked.

"No answer. I'm going in."

Ulrich went to the door and it was locked. Ulrich could not waste time, so he kicked it in. Ulrich drew his swords and walked through the house to try to find his mom. The gang followed him.

"There are no signs of a struggle" Yumi said.

"Wasn't William preoccupied with starting the fourth Reich?" Odd asked.

"Doesn't mean the security program can't come here and do something?" Ulrich said. "I'm going upstairs."

Ulrich walked up the stairs and the first place he went was is parents' bedroom. Ulrich walked in and saw nothing abnormal. He looked in the closet. He looked under the bed next and saw a figure curled up. "Hey, who are you?"

"Who's there?! What did you do with my husband?!" the female girl asked.

"Mom?! Mom it's me Ulrich!"

"Ulrich?"

"Let's get you out. No one else is here except my friends. You know them."

"But you are supposed to be dead" she said crawling out from under the bed.

"Long story for a different time. We got to get out."

"Why? What is that security program doing now?"

"Hopefully nothing. But wherever we are, trouble follows."

"Where is your father?"

"Again, later."

Ulrich led his mother out of the house and took her along with her friends back to the resistance base. The resistance was just setting up a base in Germany, so the distance was not far. Ulrich now needed to talk with his mom.

"Okay, now that we are on friendly lines, we can talk. What do you want to know?" Ulrich asked her.

"Why are you not dead? We all went to your funeral."

"Yes, we did. We all went to make sure it all fell in place before we planned our next move."

"Why?"

"The government was hunting us. When our friend, an evil AI called Xana created a disturbance all around France as we were preparing to leave to go to Iceland to confront him, the government got a little irritated about what we were doing. They would be waiting for us, so we needed them to believe we were dead. We were going to leave but other things complicated that."

"Such as?"

"The government, the security program, resurrection of Xana and Anti-Xana, and obviously this war. But we squared terms with the government, so they don't hate us anymore."

"You still want to leave?"

"Only if Yumi wants us too."

"She your girlfriend?"

"Yeah, hopefully my wife in the future, but first we have to deal with the security program."

"Now, your father."

"Dead, because of me. William wanted me to reignite Germany's greatness and lead a fourth Reich by leading a new Nazi party. He tricked me by showing me false records that showed me being related to a high-ranking Nazi. But when my father showed me the truth, he considered him a threat, we dueled, and as a result, he lost but executed him before he left."

"Oh my."

"I'm sorry, but this is war and there will be casualties. I tried."

"I know. I know that you and your father didn't have the best relationship, but you never would let him die."

"Especially in my arms."

Ulrich went to rest up before going on the next mission Jeremy had planned for them.

The Next Day

Jeremy awoke at sunrise and looked West with a smile on his face. Ulrich was also up too.

"Why are you awake so early? Usually, you and Aelita wake at the same time, or Aelita is up first."

"Oh, just thinking that we are this close to entering lock downed France and heading to Paris. What about you? Usually, you sleep in with Yumi?"

"Nightmares. I can't sleep so I came up here and just waited the night away."

"Aelita still has those, but now they're about this war."

"She was dreaming about it."

"Yeah, but now her dreams are more concentrated in Paris. Sometimes she cries in her sleep."

"Traumatizing for everyone. We are not coming out of this normal. What are we going to do?"

"Looking at the map, this will be the final step and the next mission will be France."

"So, we take all these small countries and then we invade from all angles."

"Correct. Then we regroup, head to Paris, find a new base, not in Norte Dame, and the lead an all-out assault on the tower."

"Then we go in and defeat the security program."

"That will come after the fight."

"Why wait?"

"The mission will to be secure Norte Dame and then your final mission will be to enter the tower and defeat the security program. Also, I think that the security program will throw everything at you to try to kill or defeat you to prevent you from entering the tower."

"Well, let's wait for the others and prepare this mission."

When the others woke up, they went to Jeremy's room and discussed the mission.

"Okay, your next mission is called 'Surrounding France'. The Western Front here is the last thing that separates us from France. Take these and the path to France will be clear."

The gang leaves and prepares to take down countries. The Air Force will take down the rest. The ones the Lyoko Warriors have Belgium and Switzerland. They don't remember what happened there.

Germany/Belgium Border

The gang decided to head to Belgium first. They used the route the Germans used twice to invade France twice.

"So, anything we need to know?" Odd asked.

"Nothing new. Just some weird traditions. Brussels however is very old cultured sort of town."

Brussels

The gang entered Brussels and saw what Aelita was talking about. The town seemed older then modern. But it also looked untouched by the security program.

"Another old-fashioned town" Yumi said.

"And again, no security program presence" Odd added.

"Makes our job easier" Ulrich said.

"Strange how this town seems untouched. We are super close to France" Aelita said.

"Considering how old fashioned this is, the security program probably had no interest."

"Still, you'd think there would be something here."

The security program knew where they were. He was watching them.

"Don't worry Aelita. Soon you will see the way I do" the security program said from his throne room in the tower.

William was making final preparations for what his master was planning.

With everything in Brussels done with, the gang started to head towards Switzerland. When they got there, they entered close to Geneva. They looked for a place to plan their next move, As they traveled, they went down to an open field and found that this land was just cleared.

"What was here before the war?" Yumi said.

"There is a sign" Aelita said. She approached and read it. "Apparently there was some kind of advanced physics school here."

"Like Tyron?"

Aelita looked again at the land and had a sudden flashback.

Flashback

The Lyoko Warriors were waiting outside for a minute waiting for the good news from Tyron, but then suddenly the lab exploded in front of their eyes. After recovering from the shock, tears came out of everyone's eyes, and the Switzerland police force showed up and saw all the students and the warriors outside. The police rushed over to them.

"Are you all okay? Is anyone hurt?" the police chief asked.

"Not physically. But I don't know emotionally" Aelita said.

Within the night the police escorted everyone home and cleaned up the mess finding nothing but a scorched picture of Professor Tyron and Anthea. Aelita asked the police chief if they found anybody. He responded this "No, but we did find this." He handed the picture to Aelita and again Aelita's heart sank. She said she will take it as it will be the only memory of her mother and the new Professor Tyron, the one that tried to stop Anti-Xana.

The Lyoko Warriors returned back to their meeting spot and slept all alone knowing that they failed the world, the mission, and lost a new friend.

End of Flashback

Aelita immediately went down to her knees and shed a few tears.

"Aelita, are you okay?" Yumi asked.

"This place is where we all were when Tyron's lab exploded after he tried to deactivate Anti-Xana" Aelita said.

The gang all looked and realized where they were standing is where Tyron's school used to be. This was not the time or place to reflect. They had a job to do.

"Aelita, we have to move" Ulrich said.

"I know. It's just, this was the first time I saw someone die in the real world. It was more traumatic than it needed to be."

The gang understood her, but the mission was more important.

Bern

The gang made it to the capitol and saw what looked like a monarchy community, like something from the 14th century.

"Nice place they have here" Odd said.

"Me and Jeremy looked around Geneva when we were hunting down Tyron. We never knew that we would see the world because of a war" Aelita said.

"But remember, that some places are more beautiful if they are untouched by war" Yumi said.

"Hopefully in the future, we can revisit them and see their true beauty."

The gang waited for the resistance to show up and then helped them set up bases at the countries that had a border with France. They needed all forces to enter when the attack came. What they didn't know was that the security program was going to use royalty to his advantage.

The Tower in Norte Dame, Paris

"Are you ready William?" the security program said.

"Yes, I just need to eliminate the royal family and marry a princess and then the position of king will be mine" William said.

"And then we can retake the world, but only if you marry the right princess."

"Oh, I'll get her to marry me. The only problem, is her friends."

"Do whatever it takes. We need her to see our point of view."

"She will and when she does her job, she will be yours to do with what you want."

"Go, finish this war."

"Yes master."

William left to prepare England for the transfer of royal power.

A.N. – A little short and late, I know. I was busy all day and there wasn't much to write about since the countries are winding down. The next two may be short too, I don't know yet. I think we all know who this 'princess' is that William wants to marry. If you don't know, then it will be obvious in the second chapter. No hints though, because I say one, you all would know. Also, no ideas for the royal wedding. I will write that by myself because I have a specific way that I want to write it. You can submit ideas for when they are in England before they get to where it will be. Just a little information on what's going to happen. The end is near! I can't wait for the finale!
