The matter with LID seemed like it was about to be resolved, but the last duel ended in a draw. Miss Abarin suggested a fourth duel to break the tie. When it seemed like Yukin was going to duel Jenny, Renji revealed himself and said he was going to duel instead. It was strange how he showed up, but it seems like LID went with it as the two of them were in the dueling area.
'This is rather weird.' Yukin thought. 'Who is this guy? Why's he getting involved at the last minute if he's with LID?'
"Let me give you a proper introduction. You may call me Renji. I'm glad you accepted my offer to let me duel you."
"You're with LID. You want to do your part for your school." Yukin said. "I can understand that, but I'm not going to lose."
"Renji? That name sounds familiar." Eli said as he tried to do a quick look at who Renji is.
"I didn't think Renji was going to get himself involved. No matter." Miss Abarin said. "Your boy doesn't stand a chance against him."
"That's what you think. Yukin's a great duelist." Nathan said.
"That's right. He'll win." Alyssa said.
"Anyone got a clue as to who this guy is? He looks like he's at least ten years older than Yukin. No way he's a student." Siegrain said.
"You're right, but he must have some connection to LID." Zoey said.
"What does it matter if he's a student or not? Yukin is still going to win." Augustus said.
"Let's just see what he can do." Soto said.
"Since we're on your turf, you can pick what field we duel on." Renji said.
"It doesn't really matter to me either way where we duel." Yukin said. "Principle Baxter, pick a good one." Eli heard him and searched through the selections to find the right one.
"There! This one is perfect!" Eli said as he found the right one. "I activate Neon Street!" The field was changing into a large city that shined with lights and much more that light up the night. It was really a sight to behold. "Now, let's see." Eli continued to do research on Renji. When he did find something, he couldn't believe what he learned.
"Works for me." Yukin said. "Since you wanted to get involved, and wanted me to choose the field, I'll let you have the first move."
"Thank you, but it wouldn't have mattered to me which one of us went first." Renji said. Both of them activated their duel disks and were set to go. Yukin's dueling for his school, but he's in for a big surprise when he duels Renji.
"Let's duel!" Both of them said as they got started.
"Here I go!" Renji said as he was making the first move. "I'll start by activating Portal of Deception. This spell card allows me to take a Dimensional monster from my deck and add it to my hand. However, if I summon that monster, when my standby phase comes, I must give up a thousand life points."
"A thousand life points?!" Siegrain said.
"He would get rid of that many life points just to get one monster?!" Zoey said.
"The monster I choose will also be the monster I summon." Renji said as he drew a card. "I summon Dimensional Cerberus!" He summoned out a Cerberus-like creature with it having 1200atk points. "Next, I activate a second Portal of Deception."
"Another one?!" Yukin said as he was shocked. "That means you'll have to get rid of 2000LP!"
"That's right, but we'll get to that in a moment." Renji said as he took another card. "With this in my hand, I activate Portal of Space! This spell allows me to take a level four or lower Dimensional monster and summon it to the field, but I must give up a 1000LP on my next turn. I summon Dimensional Lotus!" He summoned out a flowery creature with a snake-like vine for legs. She also only had 100atk points. "Now, I activate another spell known as Portal of Fusion! I must give up a 1000LP come my standby phase, but only if I fusion summon. That's exactly what I plan to do."
"Say what?!" Yukin said as he couldn't believe what this guy was doing.
"That's right. I fuse Cerberus and Lotus together!" Renji said as his two monsters began to merge. "With these two monsters, I fuse a warrior of a great flame that shall take over this game. I fusion summon Dimensional Fire Warrior Percival!" He summoned out a humanoid wearing red armor with a sword and shield with energy surging like fire. It also had 2200atk points.
"He can fusion summon too?" Yukin said. "Why would he be willing to pay 3000LP on his next turn just to summon that? What's he planning?"
"I place one card facedown to end my turn." Renji said.
"He played every card in his hand on his first turn." Siegrain said.
"That's a really risky move he's making." Zoey said.
"Yeah, but Yukin wins comes his next turn. He's practically giving us the win." Alyssa said as the kids thought Yukin had this.
"I wouldn't be so sure. This guy's planning something." Soto said. "Why else would he do that?"
'I don't know what he's up to, but I better act now.' Yukin thought. "My turn!" He drew his card and needed to act now. "I summon Crater Cobra to the field in attack mode!" He summoned out his cobra with it having 1700atk points. "I now activate Crater Cobra's ability! Once per turn, he can switch the attack and defense points of one monster! I choose Percival!" Crater Cobra used it's power and Percival's attack points became 1500. Yukin held out another card, but wasn't sure if he should use it now. 'I doubt he would willing give up all his life points unless he had something planned. He said it didn't matter which one of us went first. Still, I have a feeling that the longer this duel goes on, the greater the odds are against me.' "I activate High Sky! When there's a monster one the field with it's attack points different than their original, this card gives one monster an extra 1000atk points!"
"Percival's attack points are different because they were switched!" Siegrain said.
"That means Crater Cobra is gaining extra power!" Augustus said as Crater Cobra's attack points rose to 2700.
"Yes! This guy just wasted his first turn." Nathan said.
"I wouldn't be so sure." Soto said.
"Crater Cobra, attack now!" Yukin said as his cobra jumped at Percival and was about to take a bite out of it. Just before the attack landed, Percival's attack points rose to 1900. The snake and Percival collided and an explosion went off. Renji outran the shockwaves as he made his way up the buildings and landed on a rooftop and his life points dropped to 3200.
"What happened? He still has over 3000LP." Alyssa said.
"Didn't you guys notice? Just before the attack landed, Percival's attack points went up a little." Soto said. "I knew it would have been too easy for Yukin. This Renji had something thought out."
"I don't know what you did, but at least I got rid of your only monster." Yukin said as his snake coiled around him.
"Did you?" Renji said with a smirk. The smoke cleared away and showed his monster was still there.
"It's still there?" Yukin said. He also noticed something else was missing. "Wait. Your portal cards are gone too."
"That's right." Renji said. "It's because I activate my Portal Shutdown trap just before your attack landed. This trap card allows me to destroy all the portals I had activated and gives one Dimensional monster 100atk points for each one. However, if my monster is still weaker, it can't be destroyed in battle."
"So that's how Percival's attack points went up." Zoey said.
"And without those cards, Renji isn't taking any damage." Siegrain said.
"Maybe, but at least Yukin did some damage." Nathan said.
"I knew you had something planned. You were planning to get rid of your spell cards right from the start." Yukin said. "In that case, I'll place a facedown and end my turn. Since it's the end of this turn, both of our monsters attack points return to normal." Both monsters' attack points dropped down to 1700 and 2200.
"Not bad for your first turn." Renji said. "You took a chance and saw an opening, but you were also cautious at the same time. It was like your father."
"My dad? You knew my dad?" Yukin said.
"Who didn't knew your old man?" Seymore said.
"Yeah. He made dueling what it is today in Merge City. Too bad he started this dump." Gus said as both of them laughed.
"Be quiet!" Renji shouted at both of them and that got them to go stiff.
"Morons." Jenny said.
"I actually had great respect for your father and admired him when I was a child." Renji said. "He was certainly a great duelist and a great man. In fact, I still do. I find it hard for me to believe a great man like him would be lost. That's why I believe he could still be out there. Don't you?" Even thought Renji was on higher ground than him, Yukin saw into his eyes and could see he meant every word of it.
"I do." Yukin said as he took out his broken medallion.
"What's that?" Renji asked.
"Something that gives me hope that I will find my father." Yukin said. "In fact, you're the first person I've met who still believes he's alive."
"Is that so? In that case, I won't disrespect your or your father by giving this duel anything less than my all." Renji said. "I was planning to from the start. It's my turn!" He drew his next card. "Portal Shutdown has one last effect! On my standby phase, I can draw a card for every portal that I closed. That means I can draw four cards!" He drew three more cards and had a complete hand.
"Not only did he prevent himself from losing any life points, but he also filled his hand again?" Zoey said.
"Oh man. This guy knows his stuff. He clearly knows what he's doing out there." Siegrain said.
"This can't be good." Yukin said.
"Just wait and see. I summon the tuner monster Dimensional Howler!" Renji said. He summoned out a large mouth with large sets of sharp teeth and it had 400atk points.
"Did he say a tuner monster?!" Yukin said as he could see where this was going.
"Next, I activate Howler's ability. It revives one Dimensional monster from my graveyard. Come back, Dimensional Lotus!" Lotus came back on the field with 100atk points. "Percival's ability now activates! Once per turn, when a Dimensional monster is special summoned, I can summon another one from my graveyard! Rise again, Dimensional Cerberus!" Cerberus came back on the field as well. "Now, I tune level three Dimensional Howler with level four Lotus! Let the wind howl and fly yourself to new heights!" Howler broke into three green circles and came around Lotus as Lotus became four lights with a beam shooting through. "I synchro summon Dimensional Gust Warrior Agravain!" He summoned out a new warrior with a green cape and silver armor, holding a lance as energy blew around him like wind and he had 2400atk points.
"He can synchro summon too?!" Yukin said.
"I'm not done! Since Lotus was used in a synchro summon, I just need to banish one of the other monsters used to summon it and she comes back!" Renji said as he removed Howler and Lotus came back. "I now overlay my level four Cerberus and Lotus to build the overlay network!"
"No way!" Yukin said as he couldn't believe this. None of them could. The two monsters became energy and entered a vortex for a new monster.
"With this warrior to control the tides, his wrath will wash you away!" Renji declared. "I xyz summon Dimensional Sea Warrior Bedivere!" He summoned out a third warrior wearing broad blue armor, holding a double-sided club, and had energy flowing like water with it having 2600atk points.
"He can fusion, synchro, and xyz summon?!" Siegrain said.
"How is Yukin going to get out of this?" Zoey said. All of them couldn't believe their eyes. Even Soto was amazed by this. Renji was able to pull off all three kinds of summoning. The three duels before were tough since they could use one type of summoning, but Renji can use all three. Who is he?
