Matthew 8:28-34 - Demon possessed man
Welcome brothers and sister to another Bible Teachings, this year has been a rough start for all of us since we would like what has happen last year to be the past. In fact many of us would agree that from that year alone the whole world felt the great change that hasn't happen in awhile. Which is why to many that are enduring these harsh times keep seeking Jesus and preserve yourselves presentable for Christ. But for those who are new repent for all our sins and allow Jesus to take command of your life. Cause all of us need him in our lives, and we cannot live without Jesus in our lives and from there it's not going to be easy. In fact the struggles and trials we face is good for us, for many of us will face hard times from here on out and the older we get the more this world will try to crush our spirits. But allow the holy Spirit to control our lives, submit to God and we will prevail.
Matthew 8:28, takes place where after the storm is clam by Jesus, they soon encounter a man possessed by devils. Now for a moment I want to comment about this section because of the trends in media we have a misconception of devils, demons and fallen angels. Firstly is all three names are the same beings that oppose God and his heavenly host by following Satan as the fallen angel. The Second is how the media presents the idea of it's okay to have demon powers or some dark powers in nature. That alone is a horrible view in life or fiction at any time or thinking. Cause if you truly understood the implications of these powers, you would be horrified by them as much. Anime/manga is the worse when it comes to these false ideas, the concept of exorcist, demons, and false divinity. Admittedly all of us are guilty for entertaining such ideas, but while it may seem harmless at one point or another, in the long run our souls are spiritually dry and corrupt by these imagines and how we take them for granted. How we avoid this depends not just our choices, but our willingness to choose God over our ways. For you never know if your way of thinking, action or activity is devil worshipping either by doing certain actions or entertaining the unseen audience that are both corrupt spirits or angels that you never realize are watching.
In Matthew 8:29, we see them encounter this man who is possessed by Devil(Demons), he then approach Jesus saying "What have we to do with thee Jesus thou Son of God? Art thou come to torment us before the time?" There are somethings that need to be considered in this section, the first is how while Jesus came here that they approach Jesus knowing who he is and what he could do to them. Even saying Son of God is the acknowledgement of his power and authority in this world. Just take this time to understand that while they could have done other things or that any other man approaching these possessed man could have done the what Jesus would do next, yet we aren't capable of doing anything to them. But Jesus is the only one that can and because he has the power to remove them from this possessed man. Another thing to consider is how they asked if he came to torment them before the time? This implies that while they had rebelled they know their judgement will come and one day all the evils will finally end. They knew this and still had done this and many others before Jesus came here.
For many of us we tend to take lightly of what it means to be Christians or how we don't always understand what it means to follow Christ Jesus. Firstly is while we are to know God and understand his knowledge, we also must be willing to take the time to heard his words of wisdom and truly understand what it means to God and for us in our daily lives. Many of us can know all what is written in the Bible, but if we don't act on what God has instructed or obey his commands by actions, without faith along with works our knowing and words are pointless as some habits that only hinder us.
In Matthew 8:30-34, when they spoke to Jesus they asked to send them towards herd of pigs. Jesus then said go, and they left the man no longer possessed by the devils and place themselves in the herd of pigs. Now while we are humans can be very ignorant of many things, the animals rely on instinct and sometimes are influence to obey forces that God has place over them. This is can be said in Daniel when the lions could have eaten him, but God is protecting him and made their mouths closed to spare Daniel from being eaten. Here however is different as the devils made the pigs go violently mad and kill themselves in the sea. When those close by herd of this and what has happen, they approach Jesus and said to leave them. While Jesus did great thing for this one man who has suffered more the everyone, most of them are more so terrified by what had happen, and wanted nothing to do with Jesus. Yet you can imagine how thankful the possessed man is and how he had to live this way for a long time. Living in the tombs for sometimes is not something anyone would have for themselves.
Now when we start going further down through Mark, Luke and John. Many will realize that some of them have explained more details then others. In Mark we get an more detail explanation for this great event. Yet why this is the case can mostly be summed up that some of the people writing God words are told differently. Now I can't 100 percent tell you why, but if you happen to find someone who can you can ask them and they will give you the reason for why they are written differently. But know why they may not always say all the details, what's important is to know why it was written and the purpose for us to know about it.
