A heavy silence filtered through out the cave. I could practically smell the fear and anxiety coming from Star, watching as she clutched her shawl closer to her body.
"I-I" she stuttered. Star looked frantically from one person to the next. No one moved except for me as I walked to stand next to David. "I have no-"
"No idea? I have some clue. You decided you needed help from some wannabe hunters." David interrupted her. He stared at her with emotionless eyes.
Star's legs just about collapsed as she moved backwards to her little corner. Her face was a mask of fear as tears welled up in her eyes.
I flashed over to stand in front of her, making her jump and whimper as she looked up me.
"You know too much. And you've been around the Boys too long for me to Compel you to forget us. That's a whole chunk of your life." I set my face into a flat expression. Knowing that Star will have to die. "I'm sorry Star." I whispered to her.
I turned my head and looked at David and he clenched his jaw but nodded. I turned to Star and quickly reached up to her neck with my hands. Her mouth opened to scream, but I quickly snapped her neck. Her body fell but I caught it and turned to David and the others. "I'll take care of this." I spoke as I saw Dwayne moved to David's side. Michael frowned with a clenched jaw. Sam was pursing his lips as he watched me.
I turned and grabbed a sheet before flashing out of the cave with Star's body and the sheet. I flashed at the edge of the cliff side and wrapped her body. I then tossed her body into the roaring waves. I stood there a minute after, just listening to waves.
"Thank you, Farah." David's voice came from behind me.
I turned and looked at him and put my hands in my jacket pockets. "It's no problem, David."
David walked up and stood in front of me and stared intently into my eyes. His piercing stare was enough to make my breath to catch.
It was silent for a brief moment before he lifted his hand and cupped my chin. His thumb graced my chin and rubbed it slowly and gently.
"The Boys and I want to show you our gratitude soon..." His voice was smooth as he spoke. His eyes almost hypnotized me.
I felt my emotions soften for the first time in a long time.
I felt my chest like it was pulling me to him.
I felt all my senses become aware of David in front of me.
David, after a beat of silence, leaned down and gently and softly pressed the gentlest kiss to my cheek. I then became aware of Dwayne, Marko and Paul standing not that far behind him. I watched them intently as I felt David pull back and run his fingertips down my neck.
Dwayne had a smirk set on his face as he watched. Marko was chewing on his bottom lip as he racked his eyes up and down both David and I, moving his weight from foot to foot. Paul's eyes were hooded as he looked at us, his tongue running over his teeth before licking his lips.
I smirked at them before smirking at David. "Gratitude huh?" I huskily asked him before licking my lips. "We'll see." I whispered into his ear before kissing the area behind his ear.
I then moved around his frozen form, walking over to the Boys. They observed me as I walked back towards the cave, all four now watching as I strutted down the walk way.
I walked back into the cave and smiled at Sam and Michael who were talking softly to each other. They heard me walk in and turned their heads to look at me with a smile on their face.
"Come on, guys. Let's head back home." I tilted my head to the entrance and grinned at them. "We still need to talk to Lucy about Max." I sighed deeply as they stood up and walked over to me to follow me back out.
They Boys had walked in just before we walked out. "Leaving so soon?" Paul asked with a wide grin splitting his face.
"For now. We'll be back tomorrow." I chuckled and winked at him. "Don't miss me too much, boys." I teased as I walked through the four with Michael and Sam behind me. They waved to the Boys as we walked out. Them getting pats on the shoulder and back as we did.
Now to face Lucy.
The ride back to the house was quiet. The wind softly came through the windows as I drove, the sweet sounds of Bon Jovi was low on the radio when I pulled into the driveway. Parking, Sam jumped out and basically skipped up the steps to the front door and walked in. Michael and I followed with a chuckle after I turned the car off and locked up.
Walking in, Ed was in his little cubby working on a project. Lucy was sat on a couch in the living room with a book, looking up as we walked in. Sam skipped up to his mom and kissed her cheek and then took off upstairs to his room.
Taking off my jacket and putting it on the back of the couch, I plopped down onto the couch next to her as Michael sat into the recliner.
"How was the meeting?" Lucy asked softly. Michael and I looked at each other. He tilted his head with raised eyebrows.
I sighed and looked at her.
"Turns out that Max was the man we were looking for all these years." I told her. She paused and looked at me with a frowned brow.
"That can't be..." Her voice faded before her face scrunched up like she ate something sour. "I can't believe I didn't recognize him. What did you do? Did you take care of him?" She looked at me and then to Michael pleadingly.
I looked to Michael and saw Ed standing in the door way of his project area. He was frowning but listening. Licking my lips, I looked back at Lucy and nodded. "Yes, he's taken care of. He's boys and Michael and Sam took care of him. His new group of boys I think will join us. I will call Dea tomorrow to ask about daylight rings for them." I ran a hand through my hair.
Lucy sighed in relief and put her hand to her chest. "Oh, thank goodness." She lightly giggled and leaned forward to put her head on my shoulder. "Thank you Farah."
I smiled gently and put my head against hers. "No problem, mum"
After that, the house grew quiet. Michael and I ended up wondering upstairs to settle down for the night and go to bed. I checked on Sam as I walked to my room.
I woke around noon the next day, to Sam jumping on the bed and yelling in my ear. "Farah! Time to get up!" I let out a groan as he jumped on top of me, making me whine.
"Sammy! Come on!" I complained as he laid down on me. With a grunt, I pushed him over and off the bed, making him fall with yelp.
I laughed as I sat up, running my hand through my hair, throwing it up into a bun. Getting up out of bed, I looked down at Sam who was pouting. "You gonna stay on the floor the whole day?" I asked sarcastically.
He made a face and mumbled to mimic what I said making me chuckle. Sam got up and hopped out of the room to I assume Michael's room. I shook my head as I walked over to one of my bags by the phone and searched for my little phone book. Finding Dea's number, I picked up the phone and dialed out on the rotary.
I leaned on the table with a yawn as I listen to the dial noise. After a couple of rings, she picked up.
"Hello?" She sounded like she just woke up like me, making me chuckle.
"Dea, it's Farah. I need a favor, love. How are you?" I told her as I crossed my free arm over my abdomen.
"Farah! Hello darling! I'm doing wonderful. What is it you need?" She asked, the sound of rustling in the back ground.
"Do you know if daylight rings work on other species of vamps? I just had 4 join my pack I guess you could say. They are the ones that have their faces fully change." I pursed my lips, hoping she'd have an answer.
"Ummm, hold on." She said before I heard her put the phone down for a second and the sound of rustling paper sounded. "I think so... it's not the same ritual as the regular one but it's similar spell. Should work. You want me to come to you?" She said slowly as she read the spell through.
"If you don't mind. I could pay for your tickets and stay. I'll look for some jewelry with Lapis in it for them to choose from." I sighed in relief. "I appreciate it so much Dea."
"It's no problem, love. You've helped me just as much over the years." she said through a laugh. "I'll get my things ready to head that way, just let me know when the flight is."
"Okay, I'll call you back when I get the tickets set up." I chuckled. "See ya, Dea."
"Later, Farah."
We hung up and I sighed in relief that she had something to help the Boys. She's always came through for me. I've known Dea since she was a baby witch. Protected her and helped her find herself. Like a daughter to me almost.
Now to just book the flight and then find some Lapis jewelry. 'Oh, what fun.' I groaned to myself.
