"Merry Christmas." Andy sang as she rolled over to cuddle with Robert in their bed.
It was five in the morning, and as much as they wanted to spend the day at home, they had to go into work. They had agreed to wake up earlier than usual so that they had the time to open presents, to make it feel like a 'normal' first Christmas for a newly-wedded couple.
"Merry Christmas, Andy." Robert replied, kissing her forehead. His nerves about Andy opening the one gift had begun to set in.
After showering, the couple made their morning coffee and sat on the floor in front of the tree to begin opening presents.
Being that it was their first Christmas together, the only got small things for one another. Andy had brought Robert a heated blanket and stated that it was for "when you're Santa next year and it's freezing outside" so that he wouldn't suffer from a cold nose anymore. And she also got him a packet of hot chocolate powder with the famous Herrera recipe attached so that he could practice how to make it the right way for their future hot chocolate movie dates.
On the other hand, Robert had gifted Andy some socks to add to her 100 pairs, though these were fuzzy to help keep them warm so she didn't need to cuddle up to him every evening, and he also got her a book on how to build the perfect snowball as he was adamant about teaching her, even if she wasn't.
"One last one for you." Robert stated as he handed Andy a medium-sized box; the nerves were ever-present now.
Andy took it out of his hands and shook it to see if she could guess what was in it, but no sound came out. She gave Robert a puzzled look before taring the layer of wrapping paper. She discovered another box inside, wrapped in a different paper.
"Have you just given me air?" She joked, taring the next layer off.
"No, I promise. Though, it would've been a lot cheaper." Robert quipped.
Andy found another box inside, again. So, she took that one out and began unwrapping that one. Inside that box was a small, black velvet box. She knew what it was right away, and tears had begun forming in her eyes. She lifted the small box and Robert shifted so that he was on one knee.
He took a hold of her hand, "Andy, I know that we already vowed to spend the rest of our lives together, and as much as I will hold the memory of that day close to my heart, I can't help but want to share the love we have for each other with our team. So, will you do me the honour of becoming my wife and allowing us to have the party that we never got?" He opened the box to reveal the simple oval diamond on a white gold band; just exactly as she described to him many months ago over dinner.
"Robert… of course I'll marry you." Andy gleamed, holding out her hand so Robert could place the ring upon it.
They soon pulled one another into an embrace and stayed like that until they needed to go into work.
The couple shot up the stairs when they arrived at work, excited to share the news with the team. Thankfully everyone was in the beanery, opening their secret Santa presents that had been under the tree for a while.
"Guys, we've got some news to share." Andy shouted, gaining everyone's attention.
"You're pregnant?!" Vic spoke.
"No. We're engaged, again." Andy replied holding up her left hand.
"And we're having a party to celebrate on New Year's Eve, so you're welcome to join." Robert added.
"YES! I have somewhere to be on New Years now," Travis announced, a little louder than expected, "I mean, congratulations you guys."
"Thanks, Montgomery." Robert stated.
The rest of the team gave their congratulations before getting back to opening presents, waiting for the first call to come in.
Robert and Andy turned to one another, wrapped up in their bubble, filled with all the love.
"Merry Christmas, husband."
A/N: And that is the end of the '12 Days of Surrera' and the end of me writing for a while. As much as I would love to continue, I have to study for my upcoming exams in the Spring and I want to do well on them so writing fanfiction is going to have to stop for a while. I will be back as soon as I have finished my exams, don't you worry. And obviously, I will be reading everything that you guys write, if you do; I am currently behind on some stories, so I'm excited to catch up on them now. Anyways, thank you to everyone who followed, liked and reviewed this story; it made me smile seeing all the love and I am forever grateful for all of you. I wish you a Merry Christmas [ if you celebrate it ] and a Happy New Year too. See you sometime in 2021 xx
