Family Can Come As If By Magic

Chapter 12

Cedric was studying his spells, but the thing was, he could not focus on the pages in front of him.

Sighing in frustration he closes the book and smiles when he spots the small portrait of him and Sofia together in their matching robes and wands.

'It hard to believe that it only been 6 months since she came into my life and now she will turning 6 soon and is doing well in school, to say I am a proud parent is an understatement.'

Cedric gets up for his desk and goes into their living quarters and realizes that the silence was a very weird as he was used to hearing the giggles of his child playing or reading with him or her friends.

Hearing a knock coming from his workshop door he quickly goes to answer it and is greeted by Bailywick.

"Bailywick." Cedric said his tone sarcastic.

"Cedric." Bailywick said his tone also sarcastic.

The two of them stared at eachother until finally the older butler sighs, before saying.

"The King has asked for your presence at once."

Cedric nods and follows Bailywick down the stairs and to where the throne room was located.

Once inside he was greeted to the sight of a large Purple banner with the words, Happy 6th Birthday Sofia! painted on it and that when he could've facepalmed himself as it was Sofia's birthday today and he forgot.

"Cedric, I am so happy to you, I need your advice on what games that Sofia might enjoy playing at the party." King Rolan came to where Cedric was standing.

Cedric had his face hidden by his hands, muttering to himself out loud.

"I am a terrible father, forgetting my own child's birthday, simply unforgivable."

Concerned Rolan puts around Cedric's shoulders, startling the man out of his self-disgusting rant.

"It is not your fault, Sofia forgot as well and it's not like she had time to think about it herself so stop blaming yourself, you are an amazing father and uncle to the children, so cut yourself some slack, and lets get this party ready for your now 6 year old's birthday."

Cedric smiles gratefully at the King's words as he helped with putting up games and decorations.

A few hours later, Cedric was off to go find his daughter and when he finds in one of her many usual spots around the castle and today she was in the Royal Observatory, staring at the stars and plants as they moved around.

"Sofia, I am glad that I found, I have something that I have to show you in the throne room."

Sofia get up for her spot on the floor and follows her Papa out and down the hall towards the throne room.

"What is it that you wanted to show me, Papa?"

Cedric smiles and said simply.

"Cover your eyes, it's surprise."

Sofia covers her eyes, unawared that Cedric waves his hand in front of her to make sure and then he puts his hands on her shoulder and leads her into the room.

"Open."

Sofia uncovers her eyes only to be startled by a loud "Surprise!" by everyone she was close with.

Cedric looks at the surprised look on his daughter's face with a smile and said...

"Happy Birthday, Sofia."

Sofia smiles brightly and hugs her Papa, which the man returns wholeheartly.

"Let's get this party started!" James shouted excitely making everyone cheer along.

Both Cedric and Sofia looked at eachother with a smile and then Cedric picks her up and places her on his shoulder so that she can see all of her guests as she enjoyed her high view.

"What do you want to do first, my dear."

Sofia looks around from her high place and perks with interest at the games that the another kids were playing.

"Let's go see what games they are playing."

Cedric goes over to where the most of the royals children were playing, along some of Sofia's school friends and puts the girl down to ground, watching as she got started in some random game or another.

Since she was busy, Cedric went off towards the snack table and got some grape flavored punch and sat down with the a group of adults, watching and listening as they chatting about their children or gossip.

"PAPA! HELP MEEE!"
Cedric was off like a shot as he threw his drink out of his hand and ran towards the blood curling screams of his daughter as a large crowd was starting to gather.

When he got to his child, his blood turned cold as he saw his little girl crying into Madeline's chest, while both Amber and Jame were both screaming at a stoic Hildegard.

Ignoring the rest of the children, he went over to Sofia and kneels down to see what happened.

"Sofia, my little sorceress look at me please."

Sofia slowly pulls her face away from Madeline's chest, reveal at black eye, which made him interally boiling with rage, but he shoved that aside to help his daughter who was in pain.

"What happen?" Cedric asked as he took over comforting his daughter as a servent, brought him over a bag of ice for Sofia's eye.

"We were just playing a game of pin the crown on the princess, when Princess Hildegard came over and started to insult Sofia and when Sofia tried to walk away, she grabs her hard and without any warning decks her hard on her eye, which made her scream and then Amber quickly pulls Hildegard away and while I run over to Sofia, trying to help calm her down."

Cedric nods his thanks to Madeline as King Rolan and Queen Lorelei were quickly making their way over and when they got the full story, they became angry and demand that the Freezenburg Royals give formal apology and as warning that if this happened again, they will cut ties with the Freezenburg's family permanently.

King and Queen of the frozen kingdom, pale in both fear and shame at their daughter's disastrous actions and gave a quick apology to Sofia on the behalf of their daughter and quickly leave, dragged a protesting Hildegard out of the castle.

Sofia was starting to get tired from the both the excitement of the party and the pain on her eye, even though the ice help numb it.

"Papa, I want to home."

Cedric simply scoops her up in his arms and after bidding his farewells and thanking everyone for coming he left the party and went up to Sofia's room and puts girl down onto her bed and after changing the dress into a nightgown he tucks her in and summons a pain-reliefing potion, which after she took it helped with the pain, but the already tired girl fall asleep quickly, so he gently gives her a kiss on the forehead, says goodnight and leaves the room.

After he was assuring that Sofia was tucked away safely for the rest of the evening, Cedric storms outside and into the forest that border the royal gardens and starts to blast raw magic at a butch of dead trees to help unleash his bottled up rage as he had wanted to inflict the same pain onto the nasty girl that hurt his daughter.

Onces he felt tired and slightly drained of his magic, he leaves the forest and slowly makes his way back into the castle in a daze, only to be startle when he almost knock the King over in his hast.

"Cedric, are you alright?" King Rolan asked concern for his friends wellbeing after what happen earlier at the party.

Cedric simply shook his head not wanting to say anything as he might not be able to control himself if started to speak.

King Rolan looks at him with sympathy before putting his arm around the man's shoulders and leading him towards one of the many empty, barely used room in the castle and was slightly nervous when the King locked it from the inside.

"There, now that we are alone, you can say what's bothering you and if you have to scream, curse or cry do so, this room is soundproof as we are quite a ways from anyone being able to hear us."

Cedric looks at the King like he was crazy, making the man laugh alittle.

"I know how you are feeling and there are times, when I need space to scream or curse or even cry alone sometimes, as you know that being a Royal is a very stressful job."

Cedric nods, before he takes a deep breath and lets out all of his anger out to the room, as he cursed with every swear word he knew, even surprising the King with some of his most creative ones as he lets it all out and then he looks at Rolan with a smirk, said...

"I feel better now, sire."

A equally smirking Rolan looks at Cedric and unlocks the door.

"Glad I could help, my friend."

Once they left the room they parted ways and went to join their respective families, knowing something new about the other.

"Daddy?" The King nearly jumped out of his boots when he heard the voice of his youngest child behind him and turned to face her.

"What's that room?" The ever curious child asked.

"It's nothing, my sweet just an old junk room."

Rolan picks up Madeline and lead her away from the door and started to make his way towards Madeline and Amber shared room

"Daddy? Do you think Sofia is going to be okay?"

"Yes, my dear, but don't worry she will be better in a few days, but now it's time for bed, my dear child."

Madeline pouts at the thought of going to bed so she tried to change subject.

"Daddy, what's my birthday gonna be like this year?"

"You will have to find out, and your Birthday is not until December so you have all the time in world to think about what you want, but now it time for bed."

"But Daddy, I am not Sleepy." Madeline protested as she tried to stiffle a yawn to prove a point, but wasn't successful.

"Madeline, you have had long day and I even let you take up later, now time for bed." Rolan said his tone firm as he puts Madeline in bed and tuck her in as she was quickly falling asleep.

"I love you." Rolan said softly as he gave her a kiss on the forehead, not expect a response as she was deeply asleep.

"I thought that Madeline would stop being fussy now that she's older, Mom?" Amber asked as she was being tucked by her mother on the other side of the room.

Queen Lorie smiles at her eldest and said "Not quite yet Amber, she is still has some growing up to do, just be patient okay?" Queen gave Amber a kiss on the forehead, before moving aside when she saw Rolan heading towards them.

Amber sighs, but nods in agreement as King Rolan made his away over to where Amber laid in bed.

"Are you comfortable?" Rolan asked Amber nods as her Dad sat down in same place that her mother just left.

Rolans gives Amber a kiss on her forehead, while Amber gives him her usual smile and settle down into the warm blankets.

"I love you, Mom and Dad." Amber said as she quickly falls asleep.

"And we love you too, to the moon and back."

Rolan said as he got up and offers his arm for Loreini to take, which she does happily and they quietly leave the room and head towards Jame's room and saw that he was fast asleep with the covers kicked off him, both parents smile as Rolan fixes the blanket to cover his son onces more, while Loreini gaves her baby boy a kiss on his head, followed by Rolan doing the same and then they left and when to bed themselves, but Loreini had something on her mind.

I am worried about Madeline moving away from Lily Oaks she made a lots of friends there."

Rolan turns over to stare at his wife and tried to reassure her.

"She will be fine, yes she might be sad to leave all her friends, but she is going to make some new friends at Royal Prep, don't worry, Loreini."

"It just she is so young and small for her age at times, that I fear for her wellbeing and happiness." Loreini said voicing her concerns.

"Lorie, you know that Madeline has to learn about our Royal Ways if she is ever to become a queen one day and beside she will only be there for only half days until next year, so nothing bad will happen to her, okay." Rolan said as he embraces Loreini in hopes of comforting her and soothing any worries away.

Loreini nods in agreement as they felt asleep in eachother's arms.
