Preface: Hello, everyone! Minecraft Maniacs RPG is finally back at it! From this point on, my plan is to switch between three and two chapters a week, but between sagas, I'll be doing two chapter interludes, with one per week. In fact, this chapter is the start of the first interlude!
This one will set up the next saga, which will involve Unikitty! I hope this gets you hyped up!
MINECRAFT MANIACS RPG
INERLUDE 1
Previously: on a tip from Buzzer, a fly from the future, three Minecraft players, Danny, Liam, and Kevin, set out on a quest to find the ancient Gadgets of Order. After finding all five, the three and their companions went up against the gangerman king Doppel and killed him once and for all. While they succeeded, Doppel's assistant, Perinton Pig, vowed revenge on the players.
Now: One month later, Danny tells the tale to one of his other friends...
Roll Call
Danny - Alfred von Any: Hero with emotional issues. The leader.
Chapter 11:
Enter: Unikitty!, Part One -
Escape to Castle Unikitty
[Character Selected: Danny]
[Current World: Real World]
[Current Location: Roosevelt Field, Food Court]
[BGM: Antimo & Welles - Rueben]
Now, it had been about a month since we killed Doppel, and the new year started off pretty okay. There was a heatwave and rumors of World War III, but overall, it was the same as last year. Little did I know what would be unleashed…
But I'm getting ahead of myself, as you can probably already tell.
I was at Roosevelt Field with another friend of mine, Chachi. We had ordered some pizza and I was telling him about my adventure with Liam and Kevin while we waited.
"So then, we hopped onto Doppel," I said, recounting the final battle, "and then he started teleporting all around the End! Finally, he teleported back to the main island, and that's when he ran head-first into the last crystal!"
"Oh, wow!" said Chachi, genuinely interested. "What happened then?"
"Kevin took out the purifier and killed Doppel in one shot!" I exclaimed.
"Man, that must have been epic!" said Chachi. "So has anything else happened since then?"
"Well, Perinton did say he'd continue where Doppel left off," I said, "but I haven't heard of anything yet. But I am wondering what's up with the shrine Buzzer had us build."
At that moment, my watch buzzed. I looked at it and noticed I had gotten a text from Kevin. It was a link to his newest command block creation. I sensed an opportunity. "You don't mind if I hop into the game while we wait, do you?"
Chachi looked around at the large crowd of people. "Hmm, we may be waiting for a while," he said. "Go ahead. If anyone sees, I'll just say you're playing a VR game."
At that moment, I took out a Microsoft HoloLens from my backpack. It was a modified one that Kevin had made when he went to go visit this scientist named Dr. Jagmon. It had a pretty cool add-on that connected to my watch. I put it on my eyes and opened the custom app on my watch. "Okay, text me when the pizza's here," I told Chachi, and then I pressed on my watch's face, and that's when the really cool stuff began.
[World Change: Minecraftia]
[Location Change: VR World, His House]
The mall vanished as I found myself in a blocky brick house. To my left was a refrigerator made with a dispenser and iron door, and several accessories like a crafting table, bookshelves, and paintings were here and there. My hands had become blocky with no visible fingers, red sleeves, and white gloves.
I had practically entered Minecraft itself.
"Ah, I probably don't need this on," I said, referring to the fact that I had morphed into my avatar. I tapped on my watch and disabled the setting, morphing back into my normal appearance. "Okay, let's see here," I said, going back to messages. Clicking on the link Kevin provided, a book appeared in the belt that had appeared around my waist, with eight pouches that, combined with my hand, served as my hotbar. I took out the book and began to read it aloud:
"Unikingdom Portal:
This portal will allow us to enter the world of the cartoon Unikitty! (yes, the cat from The Lego Movie).
The portal is made in a similar way to a Nether portal, but with a block named "Unikitty wool" instead of obsidian. Once finished, it must be lit with a flint and steel, and then we can enter the portal.
Potions of Emotion:
These potions are made using sparkle matter - a substance that appears above the Unikitty cast's heads when they feel a certain emotion. The only potions I have made so far are ones that can make someone super-happy and super-angry."
I nodded in approval. That sounded pretty cool to do. I turned the page and I looked at the crafting recipe for Unikitty wool, which was an 'X' of the heads of Unikitty, her brother Puppycorn, bodyguard Hawkodile, scientist friend Dr. Fox, and advisor Richard (who was literally just a Lego brick), and the spaces filled in with wool. I tapped on the pictures of the heads and noticed that it put the heads themselves into my inventory. Knowing I had a nice surplus of wool, I decided that I would go into the Unikingdom, get that sparkle matter, and brew those potions.
"But first…" I said, walking to my chest. I took out my wool, some Nether wart, a fermented spider eye, a golden carrot, some glowstone dust, and some glass bottles. Filling up one of them with water from my cauldron, I took out the potion of swiftness from the already-charged brewing stand, placed in the water bottle, and added the wart, in order to make an awkward potion.
While it was brewing, I opened the book back up and tapped on the heads until I had enough for a portal. Following the crafting recipe, I placed the heads in an 'X' on my crafting table, followed by the wool. And that's when I saw it. The Unikitty wool, rainbow-colored wool with the heads sticking out. "Whooooa!" I said in awe. I made enough blocks for a portal before adding the golden carrot to the brewing stand.
While the potion of night vision was brewing, I walked outside to a nearby hill and began to make the portal. Piling up five blocks, then jumping off and putting three from the edges, and finally filling the gap. "And now, just one more thing," I said, returning to my house.
After putting in the fermented spider eye, I took out some flint and an iron ingot and put them on the crafting table to make a fresh flint and steel. Then, I walked back out to the portal and clinked the two together until…
"Ohmygoditworked!" The portal was filled with swirling portal blocks not unlike that of a Nether portal. It flashed between red, yellow, and blue. It seemed to call to me. Hastily, I backed up and jumped through...when I realized I forgot the potion of invisibility.
After making one last pitstop to my house to add the glowstone and extend the potion, I walked back to the portal, quickly milking a cow along the way. Then, I stood at the portal, braced myself, and jumped through.

The world looked exactly like it did on the show - incredibly cartoony, bright and cheerful like a modern-day kids' show, and almost nothing like Lego bricks. I was honestly a little surprised that nobody had noticed my entrance. "Okay, the castle is that way," I thought aloud, pointing, "so I should wait until I'm there to use the potion. Can't let anyone there see me."
I wanted to at least get the sparkle matter before the pizza had arrived, so I took off running. I didn't stop to let anyone see me. I didn't know if they did, but I had one thing on my mind: the sparkle matter. I was so determined, I even managed to run up the hill leading to the castle.
It was the sight of Hawkodile doing his job that caused me to stop and duck down. The rustle of the bush I hid behind caused him to look in my direction, but overall, I think he missed me. "Okay, invisibility time," I whispered, taking out the potion and gulping it down. Needless to say, the combo of the carrot and fermented spider eye gave it an...interesting taste.
[BGM: Lalo Schifrin - Mission: Impossible - Main Title]
Examining the area, I decided just walking in through the front door still wouldn't be a good idea. That's how I decided to sneak in. Finding a stack of dirt blocks in my hotbar, I walked to the back of the castle and began to pillar jump up to the 'body' of the castle, since it was shaped like Unikitty herself. Approaching the 'head' of it, I decided to risk it all - I took out the iron pickaxe I had and mined through the wall. The castle began to tremble as I ran through, and quickly, I replaced the Lego bricks before it was too late. Even though I stopped the trembling, I did cause a vase to fall and shatter.
Richard floated in at that moment. "Dumb random rumbles," he muttered, beginning to clean the mess up, "making messes."
I sidestepped him and began to run around the castle, looking for Unikitty before my invisibility ran out. I had about seven minutes left. And yet, I still wondered: what was taking the pizza so long?
C'mon, where are you? I thought as I searched. I eventually found her in her bedroom with Puppycorn. The two were calmly playing a board game which, from my knowledge of the show, seemed a little out-of-character for Unikitty. And I decided to have her act a bit more in character.
I grabbed the backpack that appeared on my back when I entered the game and pulled it to the front. Opening it to bring up my inventory, I was glad my hunch paid off - there was still a cat spawn egg from when I was messing around in Creative mode a while back, so that would work to generate the happy sparkle matter. As for the angry one...I decided to risk it all once more. I put my backpack back in place, crept up to Unikitty as she moved her piece, and stepped on her tail.
"YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!" she cried out, loudly. And that's when I heard the tiger growl. Then, she turned red, literally. And then she lost it. She began to bounce around the room in anger, shouting "Who stepped on my tail? You're not very nice! I'm gonna teach you to be nicer!"
"Gah! Sis, calm down!" cried Puppycorn, chasing after her. As Unikitty began to slow down, I took out one of the glass bottles. The angry faces and lightning bolts coming out of her head entered the bottle with one quick swoosh.
Unikitty finally returned to her usual pink colorization and calmed down. "Sorry, baby bro," she said. "I don't know who stepped on my tail. I'm sorry I ruined the game." Sure enough, the entire room had been trashed, with the board game basically having been destroyed.
Despite the mess, I took out the cat spawn egg and tossed it on the floor. A tabby kitten spawned, to the two's shock. "Aww," said Unikitty, quickly getting over her confusion. "Who's an adorable little kitty?" She cuddled the kitten as happy faces and rainbows appeared from her head. With one more swoosh, it all went into the bottle. If only I had realized that Puppycorn had noticed it…
Alright, got the sparkle matter, I thought. At that moment, I got a text from Chachi. Whoo! Pizza's finally here! And I thought the service took forever when my family eats out! In my haste to get ready to leave, I just gulped the bucket of milk right then and there. And that's what exposed me.
[BGM: End]
"HIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" shouted Unikitty, noticing my form. "I am Princess Unikitty! What's your name?"
"Uh…" I stammered out. I blew it. "Food court...pizza...watch…" With the remaining bit of wits I had, I pressed on my watch again, and their two faces vanished.
[World Change: Real World]
[Location Change: Roosevelt Field, Food Court]
The ever-welcoming look of the food court returned and Chachi was sitting there, having already taken a slice. "Everything okay?" he asked, concerned.
"I was an idiot!" I replied, pulling the headset off and putting it away. "I built a portal to another world, turned invisible, snuck around, and got rid of the invisibility just as I was in the place to get caught!" I began to catch my breath. Man, why do I keep doing this? I berated myself. But I decided not to focus on my self-esteem and looked at the pizza. "Whoo! That looks good! Is it still hot?"
As I did, I made a mental note to myself: I should only use the headset when I'm home. And that's what I was gonna do - that evening, I was going back in and getting myself back home.
[Character Selected: Dr. Fox]
[Current World: Lego Planet U]
[Current Location: Unikingdom, Unikitty's Castle]
Dr. Fox inspected the small bit of Unikitty's bedroom that the princess had shown her. "So this is where the specimen was?" she asked.
"Yeah, he looked like someone from the real world," answered Unikitty. "He appeared out of nowhere, then pressed in this watch thingy and vanished! What do you think that means?"
"I think it means," answered the scientist, "that I have a lead on my multiverse theory! I have to prepare the area in case it returns…"
To be continued...and next time: busting out!
Next chapter: Now that Danny's broken in, it's time for him to "Escape FROM Castle Unikitty!" Unfortunately, his return was anticipated - Dr. Fox has all sorts of gizmos up and running to make sure he can't get out alive! But maybe Danny's smarter than he thinks he is... Part two of the two-part interlude before the Unikitty Saga begins!
Postface: Chapter complete! Man, is it good to be back uploading! It'll take a bit for me to get back into the process, but overall, I'm ready to keep this train moving!
Trivia time! The idea of the special HoloLens allowing for practical teleportation into Minecraft actually did not stem from the official Minecraft: Woodsword Chronicles chapter book series (which recently wrapped up and is actually very good!) - rather, it stemmed from the final episode of Kibitz and the Captain's Realistic Minecraft series, where the main character got a special watch that allowed him to switch between the Minecraft world and the real world. I originally had my watch teleport Danny in straight-up like its inspiration, but I changed it to make it a little less fantastical. Speaking of fantastical, the real shenanigans that will unfold in Minecraft Maniacs RPG begin here - the Unikitty series has arrived! Things may be starting off slow here, but it'll pick up quickly...
That should be it! Please read, review, and share around, and I'll see you next time for part two of the interlude! Stay tuned for more side stuff this weekend, too! Stay diamond, everyone!
