(Volume 2) Chapter 1 - An Unexpected Day
It's been a few months at Beacon. A few months has changed a lot... But for what is coming, will soon be destroyed...
Vale
A ship flies through the skies over the Vale city streets. The owner of the Dust shop "From Dust Till Dawn'' is hanging a sign declaring its re-opening. As he climbs down from his ladder, he stumbles and falls. The same mint hair, tanned girl appears next to him.
"Scuse me, sorry. I'm not really from around here." She apologies as she helps the shopkeeper to his feet. "Would you mind pointing me in the direction of this shop?"
She produces a piece of paper with writing on it and the shopkeep looks it over.
"Hmm? Mm-hmm." He nodded and pointed at the direction.
The girl walks away from the shop owner as both wave goodbye and passes the gray hair boy from before at a corner.
"I knew you were lost." He snarked.
"Mercury, I will seriously pay you to shut up." She produces a wallet with Lien and waved it in Mercury's face.
"That's not your money." Mercury refuses the money.
"But it can be yours for 5 minutes of silence." She bribes.
"Mmmm... no deal." Mercury denied.
"Fine." She takes the Lien and tosses the wallet, turning to walk away.
"Whatever. You want me." Mercury jokes as he follows her.
Later on the two are walking through the city.
"So, how much farther?" Mercury asks.
"A few blocks." She replies.
"Ugh... this place is so dull." Mercury complains.
"Eh, I kinda like it." She says. "Tall buildings, diverse culture..."
"And nice dopey people who are easy to pickpocket." Mercury interrupts.
She stops. "That's every city."
"Ooh, Emerald! Master thief!" Mercury plays as a victim. "Please don't take my money! I barely have enough to get by!
The girl known as Emerald glares at him, groaning angrily. She then walks away from him.
"Ugh... you're no fun today." Mercury sighs.
Mercury follows behind Emerald which leads into entering a shop full of books. The shop owner can be heard humming a tune. Mercury stops near the door to look at books while Emerald approaches the counter and rings a service bell.
"Be right there!" The owner called out as Emerald looked back at Mercury. The shop owner is seen through a set of double doors carrying stacks of books as he walks backwards and out toward the counter.
"Welcome to "Tukson's Book Trade", home to every book under the sun!" The shop owner's name Tukson sets the stacks down offscreen. How may I... He turns around, he gasps and hesitates upon recognizing the two of them. Mercury is now holding a book. "How may I help you?"
"Just browsing." Mercury responds as he shuts the book he was reading.)
"Actually, I was wondering, do you have any copies of "The Thief and The Butcher"?" Emerald asks in a pleasant tone.
"Yes we do." Tukson replied.
"That's great." Emerald approves.
"Would you... like a copy?" Tukson asks.
"No, just wondering." Emerald responded as Mercury closed another book. "Oh, oh! What about "Violet's Garden"? In paperback?"
"He's got it. Hardback too." Mercury says as he produces a book.
"Ooh, options are nice." Emerald said in a pleasant tone.
"Eh, no pictures." Mercury closes another book. "Hey! Do you have any comics?"
"Near the front." Tukson replied.
"Oh, no, wait! What... about... "Third Crusade"?" Emerald asks.
Tukson hesitates, visibly unnerved. "Um... I..." Mercury and Emerald are shown to be eyeing him carefully. "...don't believe we carry that one." He answered.
Just then Mercury slams another book shut. "Oh."
"What was this place called again?" Emerald questions.
"Tukson's Book Trade." Tukson replied.
"And you're Tukson?" Emerald questions again.
"That's right." Tukson confirmed.
"So then I take it that you're the one that came up with the catchphrase?" Emerald asks again.
"Yes." Tukson says.
"And, what was it again?" Mercury chimes in.
Tukson sigh. "Tukson's Book Trade, home to every book under the sun."
"Except the Third Crusade." Mercury points out.
"It's just a catchphrase." Tukson says.
"It's false advertising!" Mercury accuses.
"You shouldn't make a promise you can't keep, Tukson." Emerald says in a calm tone as Mercury activates a switch near the entrance causing a front window to darken.
"I hear that you're planning on leaving. Moving all the way to Vacuo." Emerald continues as Mercury activates another switch and the window in the front door darkens. "Your brothers in the White Fang won't be happy to hear that." Then Mercury activates the third and final switch, darkening the last window as he smiles creepily at Tukson. "And neither are we..." Emerald finished.
Then there is silence for a while before Emerald speaks, "You know who we are, don't you?" She asks.
Before Tukson replied a door was opened, a man wearing a maroon and white uniform and most importantly has wolf ears above his head.
"I wasn't expecting visitors during closing times Tukson." The Wolf Faunus says.
This surprises Mercury and Emerald as they recognize the uniform. He was from White Fang, but a different member.
"Now, you two would please leave?" He demanded.
Mercury and Emerald could take them on, but between the tension of the White Fang member and Tukson they ain't going to take them down easily, so the two decided to leave the shop as they walked out, Tukson mentally sighed but not to relieve but now facing a new worser problem.
(Mercury & Emerald POV)
Just as the two left the shop, Mercury grunts in defeat.
"That went unfortunate." Mercury said.
"Yeah, out of nowhere another White Fang member is here?" Emerald agrees.
"And he's not one of his." Mercury pointed out.
"Yeah, this is going to be interesting to report." Emerald replied.
"So what now?" Mercury asked. "He'll be gone, now he know what we were about to do"
"Best to leave him now, I bet much now that he's here." Emerald mentions the White Fang member with Tukson.
Mercury nods as the two leave the shop.
(Tukson POV)
"So that's what you've been doing?" The wolf faunus grunts. "Giving out books to them?"
"What do you want with me Jett?" Tukson says the name of the Whtie Fang member.
"Nothing, just checking on you." Jett scoffed as he looked around the shelves.
"You suddenly care for me?" Tukson raises his questioning tone.
"Of course I don't, he cares about you." Jett replied as he kept looking at these books.
Then Tukson realised, "You came to check on me by request. Was it your brother?" He asked.
"Yes, he wouldn't leave me alone with his request." Jett sighs.
"Then you should've gone up with him." Tukson said.
"He has made his choice! I've made my own to follow the White Fang, in which you left!" Jett scowled.
"You think that her way is the only way to achieve this?" Tukson questions Jett's motives.
"I don't see how yours can do better." Jett retorted.
Tukson sighs in frustration, "Well, I'll be off to Vacuo." He replied.
"If you wanted to leave this cause, fine by me." Jett replies and leaves before he opens the door he sighs as he said. "You are good one Tukson, I wish you luck."
Then Jett leaves, leaving Tukson with a slightly surprised look when Jett says those last words.
Beacon Academy
Somewhere at the Cafeteria, it's been months since Team RWBY, JNPR & SANR has been doing some stuff on Beacon Academy.
Now in the cafeteria, Team RWBY are sitting together along with SANR as Nigel is looking at his scroll typing something as Blake looks by.
"Are you texting him?" Blake asks.
"I know, but I get the feeling he's checking on him." Nigel replied.
"Thanks for it, Nigel." Blake approves.
Nigel smiles and nods as Blake decides to look over some notes of a familiar person from her past. Just then Yang then slides up next to her partner.
"Whatcha doing?" Yang asks.
"Nothing." Blake closes her book. "Just going over notes from last semester."
Yang catches a grape in her mouth.
"Lame." Yang replied.
Nora from the other table giggles as she continues to toss grapes at Yang with her spoon. Yang catches the fruit with ease, giving Nora the thumbs up.
"Man this feels nice, but something's missing." Rusty said as he sat next to Yang.
"And what would that be?" Albus asked.
All the sudden Ruby, giving an enormous heave, slams a binder onto the table, catching everyone off guard. On the cover of the binder is written "Vytal Festival Activities, Property of Weiss Schnee".
Albus perks up noticing the book as it has been hastily crossed out with a red marker pen, and with the same pen, a new title, "Best Day Ever Activities", has been written underneath.
Ruby clearing her throat, "Sisters... friends... Weiss." She gestures to everyone at the table.
"Hey!" Weiss yelled.
"I feel oddly offended when you say that." Albus replied.
"Four score and seven minutes ago, I had a dream." Ruby announced
"This ought to be good." Yang smiles as she catches another berry in her mouth.
"Yep." Rusty agrees.
"What sort of dream Ruby?" Silver asks.
"A dream that one day, the four of us will come together, as a team, and have the most fun anyone has ever had... ever!"
"Did you steal my binder?" Weiss questions Ruby.
"I am not a crook." Ruby makes "peace" signs with both hands.
"Say that when criminals stole." Albus muttered which caused Rusty to chuckle.
"Oh good one." Rusty complimented.
"It's not a joke." Albus monotones.
"What are you talking about?" Blake questions.
"I'm talking about kicking off the semester with a bang!" Ruby states as she points her finger at Blake leaving her surprise.
"I always kick my semesters off with a Yang! Eh? Guys? Am I right?" Yang joked.
There was groaning from the reaction except Silver and Rusty as Rusty caused a laugh which makes Yang's smile riser. Just then an apple is tossed at Yang and hits her in the face. She glares at Nora.
"Boooooooooooooooo!" Nora wooed.
Rusty chuckles as well before getting hit back by another apple by Nora.
"You should be ashamed of yourself!" Nora wooed again causing Yang to slightly chuckle at Rusty who was shocked by Yang's reaction.
"Look guys, it's been a good two weeks and between more exchange students arriving and the tournament at the end of the year, our second semester is going to be great!" Ruby chriped. "But, classes start back up tomorrow! Which is why I've taken the time to schedule a series of wonderful events for us today."
"I don't know whether to be proud or scared of what you have in store." Weiss somewhat fretted.
Yang, still glaring, picks up an apple and tosses it across the room as an unfamiliar voice shouts "Hey!" and Nora can be heard giggling.
"Nice shot..." Rusty whispered.
"I don't know. I think I might sit this one out." Blake suggests.
Ruby turns to Silver, "Silver? Would you like to join?" She asks.
"I don't see a problem with joining in." Silver replied.
"Nice!" Rusty approves Silver's choice.
"I don't know..." Nigel still raises suspicion.
"Something tells me it will..." Albus grimaces.
"Sit out or not, I think that however we spend this last day, we should do it as a team!" Weiss stated.
"You sure Weiss?" Albus asks.
"I got it!" Nora's voice is heard.
"Yes!" Weiss replied, "I for one think that..." Just then she is interrupted by a pie landing on her face.
Team SANR and RWBY stared at the table where Team JNPR is. Nora is shown to be the one who threw the pie, she sits down and points at Ren who has his head in his palm. Pyrrha's hand is over her mouth and Jaune simply sits staring wide-eyed while covering his ear with his palm.
Outside
"Man, that's harsh." The blue-haired boy said as he is walking with Sun as Sun explains about what happened at the docks.
"I know, we were fighting side by side. She was super fast and I threw a banana at the guy, which sounds gross, but it was awesome." Sun explained the scenario.
"Nice!" He complimented.
"Right? And the best part is, she's a Faunus." Sun revealed but quickly restated his sentence. "But that's a secret, okay?"
"Got it." He replied.
Sun leans in close in order to stress the importance of this secret. "No serious, Neptune." He said, "Not a, "I'm gonna go tell Scarlet the second Sun turns his back secret", I'm talking secret secret."
"Whoa, chill out, man, okay? I got it." The boy named Neptune assured. "I got it!"
"You better." Sun reassured as he did not notice the windows into the cafeteria where food splattered into the panes as students ran around. At one point, Jaune is the one splattered into the window. "I just don't want to screw this up, you know? The people here are the coolest! No offense to you guys."
"None taken." Neptune responded.
"They're just in here. I'm really excited for you to meet them. So be cool, okay? You're gonna be cool, right?" Sun questioned.
"Dude." Neptune gestured to himself as his teeth gleamed as he smiled.
"Good point." Sun acknowledged.
Cafeteria
Sun and Neptune enter the cafeteria where students are heard screaming.
"Food fight!" One of them shouted.
Many students are shown stampeding out the door past Sun and Neptune, the latter of whom is looking quite worried.
"Ahahahaha!" Nora's maniacal laughter is heard from a distance.
Team JNPR are shown to be standing atop a tower of tables stacked in a ramshackle manner.
"I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!" Nora sings.
Meanwhile in the middle of the Cafeteria a bunker made out of tables is setted, inside is Team SANR.
"This ain't good Cap'n..." Rusty reported to Silver who was watching JNPR's fort.
"You think!?" Albus questions Rusty, wanting to strangle him.
"Uh guys?" Nigel pointed out on the other side.
From the other side of the Cafeteria Ruby stomped her foot on a table and pointed at Team JNPR.
"Justice will be swift! Justice will be painful!" Ruby crushes a carton of milk in her hand. "It will be delicious!" She threatens.
"Yeah!" Team RWBY appeared besides Ruby raising their fists simultaneously.
Now the food fight begins.
"Off with their heads!" Nora declares as she jumps down from the top.
Then Team JNPR grabs a ridiculous number of watermelons and throws them at Team RWBY including Team SANR's table bunker.
"Melons!" Rusty called out as the four hid in the bunker.
"Evade!" Silver ordered, making the team spread out as the watermelons destroyed the bunker.
Meanwhile Team RWBY are going to counterattack a barrage of melons.
"Yang! Turkey!" Ruby ordered.
Yang then picks up two turkeys from the ground and uses them like gloves to punch through the barrage of watermelons thrown off a table by Nora.
Blake then leaps in front of Yang and picks up two baguettes. Yang then throws her turkeys at Pyrrha, who dodges out of the way and grabs a single baguette, leaving Jaune to take the blows.
Rusty is by himself, looking around to see something to fight with as he decides to grab a rope of sausages and a turkey that was launched by Yang.
Pyrrha and Blake duel in a one-on-one fight. Blake's attempt to disorient Pyrrha with her semblance, but Pyrrha knocks her back and throws three more baguettes to Yang, she blocks two as the last one knocks her down as well.
Yang easily recovers until a rope of sausages wrapped around her arm, she was then pulled to be introduced by Rusty.
"Hi." Rusty smiled.
"Another round?" Yang smirked.
Rusty kicks a laying turkey for Yang to use, "You bet." Rusty replied as the two ready their turkey gauntlets before charging in.
Back to Ruby, she uses a food tray to slide towards Pyrrha across the table and hits a baguette back at her with the same tray; Pyrrha manages to dodge the shot, but is unable to stop Ruby from knocking her backwards with the same food tray.
Back to Albus and Nigel who happen to be together, trying to decide their current course of action.
"What do we do?" Nigel asked.
"I don't know-" Albus tries to think of a new plan.
"Charge!" Nora's voice interrupts their thoughts as Ren and Nora then charges at them.
Before they went defensive positions, Ruby and Weiss from behind intercepted them as Weiss sprayed ketchup onto the floor causing Ren to slip and crash into Albus and Nigel into a group tables which were launched because of the impact.
However, Nora jumps through these tables avoiding the ketchup floor, to grab a metal flag pole and attach a watermelon to it. She attacks Weiss but hits Ruby instead, who manages to stand between them to protect her partner from the assault; however, the force of this impact knocks her down.
"Ugh..." Albus groaned after the collision from Ren with Nigel, he stood up.
Just then Albus sees Weiss grabs a swordfish and engages Nora in a one-on-one, as Nora dodgers every slashes from Weiss until Nora throws her against a pillar, knocking her down, and causing the pillar to break.
"Weiss!" Albus shouted as he got up.
Before the pieces crush Weiss, Albus manages to get Weiss avoided getting crushed.
"Weiss, you okay-" Suddenly Ruby jumped and instantly shoved Albus out of his spot as she cradled Weiss.
"Weiss, Weiss! Don't leave me! Nooo!" Ruby shouts dramatically at her partner's apparent demise.
Back then Yang and Rusty still tied against each other, neither aren't using their semblances for reasons.
Ren and Nigel are toe to toe as Ren with his dual wielding leeks forces Nigel on defense with his baguette sword. Then Nigel performs a big swing which causes Ren's leeks to be sliced clean off. Ren immediately backflips and grabs another leek to throw at Nigel which he successfully did and knocks him out.
Meanwhile, Yang swings another punch from her turkey gauntlet but Rusty swiftly dodges it and attempts to do a lower swing kick to knock off her balance but Yang manages to jump over and manages to hit Rusty but he blocks it with his turkey.
"Are you done yet?" Yang smirked again.
"Just a warm up!" Rusty replied with a smile as well.
"Incoming!" The two turned to see Nora charging towards them with her makeshift hammer. She swings her melon hammer to them so hard, it sends them flying through the roof which destroys the weapon in the process.
Blake gets back up to dodge the debris of the roof and grabs a link of sausages. She whips it at a disarmed Nora, throwing her against two soda machines. They leak some soda cans which Nora sees an opportunity and grabs them to throw at Blake, who manages to dodge them all. Pyrrha then uses her Semblance of polarity on the puddle of soda, causing all the soda cans on it to rise after Blake, barraging her with soda. Nigel and Albus get up just to witness the soda can storm as they get hit as well.
Ruby, being the last remaining member of RWBY, watches the remains of JNPR with a face of determination. She used her semblance to transform into a storm of petals as she spins like a torpedo, creating a hurricane of wind which sends Team JNPR flying into the wall. Ruby makes her stop, and jumps out of the way of the food hurricane coming from behind eventually splattering Team JNPR, after that they slide off the wall, leaving only their outlines.
Ruby smiles of her victory until a clear cough is heard, she turns which reveal Silver standing there, unscath and is holding a soda can.
"Good job Ruby." Silver complimented with a smile.
"Uh... Silver?" Ruby fretted about what he was planning to do.
"You did well, however you miss one." Silver replied as he threw his soda can which splattered Ruby from the back mostly her red cloak.
"Ah! My cloak!" Ruby groaned as the soda liquid makes her red cloak soaked and sticky from the soda.
Silver smiles as Nigel and Albus stand up, with their uniforms covered in mess with a small grin of victory.
"I love these guys." Sun comments next to Neptune which he is drenched with soda and is not pleased.
The doors behind them open and Glynda enters the room growling. She proceeds to use telekinesis to re-organize the room.
"Children, please." Glynda glared as she adjusts her glasses. "Do not play with your food!"
Nora burps aloud as Team JNPR, Team RWBY and Team SANR try and fail to compose themselves well except Silver. Just then two screams were heard from above as Yang and Rusty crashed from the ceiling into one of the tables.
"Rusty and Yang?" Albus asks as he stares the two laying on the broken table before they recover with ease.
"What happened?" Rusty asks.
"Silver beat them all." Nigel replied.
"Yes!" Rusty immediately cheers.
"What?" Yang perked up.
"Hey! Silver didn't appear until the end!" Ruby pouted.
"I waited until you defeated them all so I could finish it." Silver explained.
As the conversation between the three teams happens Glynda grumbles. Ozpin approaches and places a hand on her shoulder.
"Let it go." Ozpin says.
Glynda sighs, "They're supposed to be the defenders of the world." She replied.
"And they will be, but right now they're still children." Ozpin reassured, "So why not let them play the part?" Ozpin walks away from Glynda. "After all, it isn't a role they'll have forever."
Team RWBY, SANR & JNPR are still laughing together as for SIlver heard these words, his thoughts think deeper.
Unknown Warehouse
Meanwhile somewhere inside, the White Fang are moving crates as Emerald and Mercury enter as they see Roman and Crimson.
"Oh, look! She sent the kids again! This is turning out just like the divorce!" Roman approaches the two from behind and wraps his arms around them in a group hug, Crimson then laughs that sounds like Roman's laughing. (Crimson Semblance is 'Voice Mimicry', he can mimic and act anyone's voices, he can even intermediate animal noises as well including distorting or ampfling his vocals)
Emerald shivers in disgust. "Spare us the thought of you procreating." She and Mercury pull away from Roman.
"That was a joke. And this... just might tell me where you two have been all day." Roman produces a piece of paper.
"What!? Agh..." Emerald checks her pockets.
"I'm a professional, sweetheart. Pay attention, maybe you'll learn something." Roman explains as Crimson nods. Then Roman holds up the piece of paper. "Why do you have this address?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Emerald asks.
"Yeah, I would. Now where have you been all day?" Roman wondered.
"Cleaning up your problems. One of them, at least." Mercury replied.
"I had that under control." Roman grimaces.
"Well it doesn't matter since you'll get caught anyway." Mercury says.
"Listen, you little punk." Roman points at Mercury accusingly. "If it were up to me, then I would take you and your little street rat friend here and..."
"Do what, Roman?" A female voice interrupts as the same woman from before, appears on a platform above them. She steps onto an automated lift, riding it down to their level.
"I'd, uh... not kill them?" Roman laughs nervously.
"Cinder!" Emerald says excitedly
"I thought I made it clear that you would eliminate the would-be runaway." Cinder ignores Emerald as she walks up to Roman.
"I was going to..." Roman tried to respond.
"We did try to intervene but failed by inconvenience." Emerald explains.
"Yeah, some White Fang member interfere with us." Mercury added.
"Despite the failures, did I not specifically instruct you two to keep your hands clean while in Vale?" Cinder questions the actions of these two. As Roman points a finger at the pair while laughing in agreement along with Crimson.
"I just thought..." Emerald tries to explain.
Roman uses his fingers to mime having a slit throat, Crimson mimics with him.
"Don't think... obey." Cinder instructs.
"Yes ma'am. It won't happen again." Emerald apologies.
Cinder turns to Roman, "And you." Roman somewhat slightly flinched, "Why wasn't this job done sooner?" She questions the criminal.
" Uh..? Eh..? Eh..? EHHHHH!" As Roman speaks, he points to his right, then to his left, then behind him. "Sorry if I've been busy stealing every speck of Dust in the Kingdom!"
"You're an inspiration to every punk with a gun and a ski mask." Mercury remarked, causing Emerald to laugh.
"Look around, kid. I've got this town running scared! Police camping out at every corner, Dust prices through the roof, and we're sitting pretty on an old warehouse with more Dust crystals, vials, and rounds than we know what to do with! Speaking of which, if you guys wouldn't mind filling me in on your grand master plan, it might actually make my next string of robberies go a little smoother! He emphasizes the last word by clenching his fist.
Cinder approaches Roman. "Oh, Roman. Have a little faith." She places her hand on his face. "You'll know what you need when you need to know it." Roman seems entranced, but then looks away with a grunt. "Besides, we're done with Dust." She begins to walk away.
"O-okay, then what now?" Roman inquires.
"We're moving." Cinder responded, "Have the White Fang clear out this building. I'll send you details and coordinates tonight." She ordered.
"Coordinates?" Roman asks.
CInder turns back at Roman. "We're proceeding to phase two."
Cinder, Mercury and Emerald begin to walk away. Roman attempts to light a cigar, but realizes Emerald has stolen his lighter. She turns back to face him and sticks her tongue out defiantly. Roman grunts as Crimson has a shocked face and proceeds to give this girl a lesson for messing with Roman Torchwick.
"Let her be Crimson." Roman halted Crimson which he received a confused look before standing down.
Later on Cinder, Mercury and Emerald continue walking before Cinder speaks.
"Tell me of this encounter." She says.
"A White Fang member interrupts but he is not one of his." Emerald explains.
"Interesting..." Cinder intrigued, "We'll have a talk with him about this event. For now we continue on the plan" She replied as the two nodded before walking into the shadows.
