A/N- Thank you so much for the reviews! Just so you're aware, this will be a long chapter.
Two Weeks Later
"Sara, come look at this." Michael turns the TV up as Sara walks out of the bedroom, finishing getting dressed.
'We interrupt this program with Breaking News. The FBI have had a breakthrough with the 6 Fox River escapees. David Apolskis and Benjamin Franklin were apprehended by two agents late yesterday afternoon. Apolskis was taken into custody at 3.30pm after being spotted at the Mexican border; Franklin was captured at payphone in downtown Chicago where it was believed he was trying to contact his wife. More updates to come-" Michael mutes the TV again, staring intensely at it.
"Are you okay?" Sara asks, moving to sit next to him.
"I'm okay; I just hope I don't see Linc on the news."
"You won't." Sara says confidently, "He and Veronica are going to find something that will free him." He looks at her in admiration and smiles, "Why are you smiling?" Sara asks, suddenly feeling unreasonably shy.
"I'm appreciating my amazing, intelligent, beautiful girlfriend." He kisses her, "Is that a crime?" he smirks as she blushes deeply and kisses her harder.
"It will be if you make me late to work. Again." He leans her back into the couch, running his hands from her waist to just below her bra line, "Honestly, I have been on time every day for three years and in the last three weeks I have been late nearly every day."
"Just a coincidence." He mumbles as he kisses her neck, hands wandering higher, enclosing over her breasts. He hears a soft moan and smile against her skin.
"Stop smiling. I'm blaming the pregnancy hormones."
"Well," he kisses her lips again, "I am loving these pregnancy hormones."
She lets out a light laugh, "Of course you are; at the moment, they are working in your favor. But I really need to go." He lets out a dramatic groan before rolling off her, making her laugh again.
"Fine, you're right, you need to go to work. I'll finish my attack on you when you get home." She sees a slight smile on the corner of his mouth before chuckling and rushing out the door.
She finally gets to work (with two minutes to spare), and nearly runs to the infirmary. Katie smirks when Sara bursts through the office door, "Girl, you are cutting it fine. You need to calm down, you look flustered as hell."
"Yes, well," Sara starts, fanning herself with a folder, "some people start things they don't finish."
"Well, he always seems to leave you in this state in the mornings."
"Not every morning." Sara says, defensively.
"Uh- huh. Whatever helps you get through to day." Katie smirks and walks out before Sara can think of a retort.
Michael hears a knock on the door and hesitantly looks through the peep hole, taking a breath when he sees whose there; he swings the door open, "Linc, Vee, how are you?" he hugs them both and they all wander inside.
"Hey Michael," Veronica starts, "we come with fantastic news." She waits a painfully long beat before exclaiming, "You and Linc are getting exonerated!"
"What? How?!" Michael asks, grinning from ear to ear.
"Well, after weeks of digging, we found a tape recording of a very interesting conversation between President Reynolds and Terrence Steadman that took place after Lincoln supposedly killed him. I took it to a judge that I trust and he went through the process, I just need on signature from you and I'll have everything finalized by noon." Vee finishes the sentence with a smile.
"That's amazing! But, how did I get exonerated? I actually committed a crime." Michael states in confusion.
"The judge agreed that your crime was acted out in extreme circumstances." Veronica announces professionally and proudly.
"Holy crap Vee, you're the best." He pulls her into a death grip while she laughs. He gives her the signature she needs before her and Linc head off to take the paperwork to the judge.
Michael spends the remainder of the morning waiting anxiously for Vee's call; he does mundane things to try and keep occupied, reading, cleaning, prepping dinner. At 12.20pm, his phone rings; he quickly answers "Vee?"
"Turn on the news." He does as she tells him and flicks on the TV, keeping her on the phone; he sees his and Lincoln's mug shots on the screen; 'This just in, two of the Fox River escapees, Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows have been exonerated of all charges; new evidence was received by a judge yesterday evening proving that Burrows never killed Terrance Steadman. All of the evidence used to convict him was re-evaluated and quickly debunked; President Reynolds is now facing scrutiny as it is believed her and a small group of associates plotted against Mr. Burrows to have him executed as part of her rise to the top. All charges against Michael Scofield, Burrow's brother, have been dropped as the jury and judge conceded that he acted in a desperate measure in order to save his brother; only after all legal channels had failed them. Charles Westmoreland and Fernando Sucre are still at large.'
Michael turns off the TV again and Vee says, "See, I told you I would get to the bottom of it. You're a free man Michael. Linc, LJ and I are coming over in 5 to celebrate."
"Okay, thank you Vee. I owe you." Michael hangs up and immediately dials another number.
Sara sits with Katie in the infirmary office; it's been a quiet day with only a couple of appointments so the two are bored out of their minds doing paperwork, "any plans for the weekend Katie?"
"Not really, I'm afraid I'm just as boring as you."
"Hey now, I'm not-" Sara is interrupted by her phone ringing, she see unknown caller on the screen and answers nervously, "Hello?"
"You sound adorable." There is no mistaking whose voice is on the other end, Sara feels her face flush, Katie chuckles and throws her a knowing look, "I have some news."
"Is everything okay?" Sara asks quickly, her heart rate sky rocketing.
"Everything is amazing. I'm a free man, Sara. Linc and I are free!" Michael exclaims.
"Are you serious!?" Sara practically shrieks, causing Katie to shoot her a concerned look, Sara shakes her head and gives a thumbs up, indicating its good news.
"Yep. So Linc, LJ and Vee are coming over if that's okay? When you get home, I'm making us dinner and we can celebrate."
"Sounds fantastic, I'll get home as soon as I can. I love you."
"I love you too."
Sara hangs up and finds Katie still staring at her, waiting for her to supply an explanation, "Lincoln and Michael have been exonerated." Katie's face lights up but before she can respond, they hear Brad Bellick yelling, "This is fucking ridiculous! How do these cons get exonerated?! They broke out of prison!" The girls peek out the window to see Bellick yelling at the TV on the wall while holding onto an inmate, who looks to be in quite a lot of pain. Sara walks out of the office, "excuse me Mr. Bellick-"
"Captain." Brad hastily cuts her off.
"Whatever, is there anything I can help with or did you just drag an inmate up here to yell at the TV?"
"Does this not make you mad?" He points at the TV.
"Not particularly Captain Bellick, clearly the courts believe they are innocent enough-"
"That's a load of bull-"
"Bellick!" She cuts him off, raising her voice, "I don't have to time or the energy to discuss this, now why have you bought him here?" She gestures towards to inmate. Bellick looks like he's going to argue but thinks better of it.
"I think he's hurt his arm." He says nothing else for the duration of Sara examining and re-locating the inmate's shoulder.
Michael, Linc, Vee and LJ sit on the couch catching up when someone knocks on the door, Michael gets up and cautiously looks who it is, when he see Charles standing there he swings open the door "How are you Charles?"
"Good Michael, I hear you got some great news today." He smiles warmly at Michael, who nods in return, "how's everything going with you and Sara?"
"Amazing." He waits a breath before adding, shyly, "We're having a baby."
"Oh Michael, that's fantastic news!" He smile brightly and pulls Michael in for a hug, "Can I talk to you for a minute?" Michael notices his look and nods, leading him to the kitchen.
"What's wrong Charles?"
"Sorry to dampen the mood but I have a couple of things to tell you. My daughter died last week, I spent every single moment I could with her and I'm so glad I had the chance to."
"I'm so sorry Charles."
"Thank you. Michael, you are the reason I got to see my daughter again, got to spend her last weeks with her. I owe you everything. After my daughter died, I went and collected the money the mysterious DP Cooper stole." He winks at Michael and both men chuckle, Charles then hands Michael the backpack he has been carrying, "I want you to have it. All five million of it." Michael's eyes widen but before he can protest, Charles holds up his hand, "before you say anything, yes I'm sure and you deserve it Michael, you gave me what I needed most. Plus, I won't need it anyway so you can do what you please with it."
"Why won't you need it?"
"Because, I'm turning myself in."
"Charles!" Michael exclaims, he get silenced again.
"You won't change my mind about this Michael, without my daughter I have nothing, I want nothing."
"You have us." Michael adds, quietly; his voice so full of emotion it makes Charles tear up.
"I appreciate that Michael, I really do. I have done what I needed to do, now I'm quite happy to spend the rest of my days in a cell. That way I can also keep T-Bag in check." Both men smile at each other, "Honestly Michael, you're like family to me, I hope you know how grateful I am to you." Michael nods and Charles smiles slightly before adding, "You'll have to bring the little Scofield to visit."
"We will, thank you Charles."
"See you later Kid." He pulls Michael into another tight hug before leaving the apartment, Michael stays where he is, in shock and holding a $5 million backpack.
By the time Sara gets home at 5.30, she is exhausted. After the episode with Bellick, there was a fight in the yard that resulted in 8 inmates needing medical attention; Sara and Katie were run off their feet. When she opens the door of her apartment, she is met with the smell of delicious food that makes her mouth water and laughter that makes her heart swell. As she rounds the corner into the living room, she smiles at the sight of everyone; Michael comes over and kisses her, "you okay?" he asks, brushing a stray hair behind her ears. She nods, "yeah, long day. I'm better now." She officially meets Veronica and LJ, after hearing about them for so long; she thanks Linc and Veronica for all the hard work they put in to get the truth out as quickly as they did. They all talk, and laugh and she can't help but think to herself, so this is what family feels like?
Everyone leaves by 7.30, Michael and Sara sit down to have dinner, as Sara finishes hers she declares "My God Michael, that was amazing!"
Michael cant' help but chuckle to her reaction, "Thank you, I am a pretty decent chef." He smirks as he stands to start cleaning up.
"I can tell," She watches him for a moment before walking up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist, "I recall a certain 'attack' threat I received this morning that hasn't-" She is cut off when Michael spins around in her arms and smashes his lips to hers. Soon, their shirts have been discarded on the kitchen floor, tongues' fighting for dominance, Michael lifts Sara onto the counter, his mouth moves to her neck as her fingers trace his tattoo. Suddenly, Sara hops down from the counter and pushes Michael to the wall, working on removing his pants, and trailing kisses down his chest; before he can think much about what she is doing, she kneels in front of him and encloses her mouth around him, "Sara" he groans her name, managing to make her even more wet then she already is. She keeps moving her head, his hands in her hair, somehow managing to hold her back and push her closer all at once. As he gets close, he pulls her up to kiss her mouth, nearly ripping off her pants in the process. She finds herself enjoying this primal move more then she probably should. He spins them around so her back is against the wall and kisses her again. Hard.
When he pulls away he notices her lips are red and swollen, before he can apologize for being rough she pulls him to her again, mumbling fiercely against his mouth, "Take me Michael. Now" He doesn't argue, he lifts her up and is inside of her in one swift move, they both let out a load moan. It doesn't take them long to reach their peak, Michael lets out a rough groan and it's enough to send her over the edge, screaming his name.
After they catch their breath and Michael puts Sara down steadily, he chuckles "If I had known that was going to happen, I would have sent everyone home earlier." Sara laughs; they finishing cleaning up from dinner while Sara tells Michael about Bellick's outburst and the fight. Michael shows her the backpack that he has hidden in the bedroom closet, after he explains what happened, Sara says, completely shocked "So, he's just given this to you and he's just going to go back to Prison?"
Michael nods sadly, "You'll probably see him tomorrow." They both stay silent for a few minutes, taking everything in, before Michael speaks again, "I'm going to get some things done tomorrow, Vee said my assets should be unfrozen early tomorrow morning, so I should sort all of that out." He pauses and glances at Sara, who looks nervous but nods. "I'm also going to get Vee to organize an annulment." He adds quietly, Sara's snaps her eyes to him and he continues, clearly nervous. "You see, I want to spend the rest of my life with this beautiful women but I can't do that until I eliminate this sham of a marriage." He smiles sweetly at her.
"This woman sounds pretty amazing." Sara says with a playful tone.
"Oh, she is. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me." She smiles shyly as he captures her lips and they move to the bed, losing themselves in each other again.
