The Adventures of Max and Leo: Leo and Max's day in Sacramento
Leo and Max were having breakfast at a restaurant in Sacramento on Friday.
"Well, now that we've swept the other team, what can we spend the day doing, Leo?" Max asked.
"Well, there's a mall not too far from the hotel, so I figured we might check it out," Leo said. "There are some things I wouldn't mind getting. We're both growing so we might as well go ahead and get some needs met."
"Yeah, that's a good call," Max said. "So, what did you have in mind?"
"Well, we'll go to a clothes store and get some clothes," Leo said. "We might get some shoes and we might also get some other things as well."
"Hopefully a few things that we want," Max said. "Like maybe more video games."
"Yeah," Leo said. "I am contemplating getting Road Rash III and a couple of more sports games."
"Sounds awesome," Max said. "I don't know how they can top NBA Jam and Super Mario All-Stars, but I'm sure Road Rash III will be very fun to play."
"Well, as much as you enjoy Road Rash II, I'm sure III will be a really good one," Leo said.
"So, what other games are you hoping to get?" Max asked.
"Well, a couple of Mario games, like Super Mario World 2 and I'm interested in the new Yoshi game," Leo said. "That looks promising."
"Are you also hoping to get Sonic 3?" Max asked. "I read a magazine and it has been leaked that a new character is going to be in the fold."
"I'm thinking about that as well," Leo said. "It looks a lot like fun."
"Almost as fun as that Sega Game Gear I read about as well," Max said. "It's about time they try to make a portable game console with color graphics."
"I know," Leo said. "Well, let's finish eating so we can go shopping."
"Sounds fantastic," Max said.
Max and Leo finished eating breakfast, Leo paid the bill and the two took a city bus on to a Sacramento mall. They entered the mall and went first to a shoe store.
"I figured we could start here," Leo said. "They sell sneakers, dress shoes and open toed shoes."
"Sounds awesome," Max said. "Although you're probably on the lookout for something that will make us look good for the school dance."
"Nah, I already got a suit," Leo said. "I'm wearing an actual tie instead of a bowtie."
"Same here," Max said. "So, what are we on the lookout for here then?"
"Maybe some more comfortable sneakers," Leo said. "I'm hoping we can help you out since your feet have been killing you the last few times you've played a sport that required for you to wear shoes."
"Well, I appreciate it, Leo," Max said. "I do want to go back to that skate park when we get back to Portland."
"I know you do, which is why I'm doing this for you," Leo said. "So, have a seat at that bench and I'll select a few for you."
Max sat down at the bench and waited for Leo to pick some shoes out for Max. Leo came with a few boxes.
"Alright, I'm gonna change your shoes and you let me know which ones you like," Leo said.
Leo untied Max's shoes, took them off and laid them on the floor. Leo got a pair of sneakers out of one box, put them on Max's feet and tied them. Max stood up and walked around in them.
"Well, how do they feel, Max?" Leo asked.
"They feel pretty good, Leo," Max said. "Plus, it's a different color than my other sneakers that I have."
"That's one thing I took into consideration," Leo said. "I knew you had a red pair, a black pair and a brown pair, so I'm looking at other colors to add to your collection of shoes."
"And let's not forget I have a pair specifically for basketball," Max said.
"You sure do," Leo said. "Alright, next pair . . ."
Max sat down on the bench. Leo untied and took off the sneakers and put them in the box. He then took the box off the stack and laid it next to the stack. He opened up the second box, got out the sneakers, put them on Max's feet and tied them. Max stood up and walked around in them.
"These are pretty comfortable," Max said. "I'm glad you thought of these."
"Alright, next pair . . ." Leo said.
Max sat down on the bench and Leo untied the sneakers and took them off. He put them in the box, laid them on top of the first box and then opened the third box. Leo got those sneakers out, put them on Max's feet and tied them. Max stood up and walked around in them.
"How are those, Max?" Leo asked.
"Pretty good . . ." Max said. "How many more do I have left?"
"Two more," Leo said.
Leo got Max to try out the other two pairs of sneakers. When Leo put the last pair on Max's feet and tied them, Max got up and walked around in them.
"This is awesome," Max said. "These are really comfortable, Leo."
"Yeah, the soles are extra soft so I figured these could come in handy for when you're playing a sport," Leo said.
"They sure will, thanks, Leo," Max said and then he saw that there was one more box under the box that was open. "I thought this was the last pair of sneakers you wanted me to try out."
"Well, this box doesn't have sneakers," Leo said. "I've got something else I want to get for you."
"Cool," Max said. "Well, these sneakers I'll definitely have you get for me."
"Alright then," Leo said. "Have a seat."
Max sat down and Leo untied and took the sneakers off. He put them in the box and moved it to the floor.
"Alright, for what's in this box, I'm gonna take your socks off," Leo said.
"Alright," Max said.
Leo took Max's socks off and placed them in Max's shoes. Leo then opened the box and got out a pair of flip flops for Max. Leo put the flip flops on Max's feet.
"You got me flip flops, Leo?" Max asked.
"I did, Max," Leo said. "I figured since your feet aren't used to being confined in shoes so much anymore, you can wear these so you can walk comfortably and still let your feet breathe."
"Nice," Max said. "Thanks, Leo."
"Sure thing," Leo said.
Max got up and walked around in those flip flops.
"Wow, it does feel comfortable walking in these," Max said. "So, maybe you can get the comfortable shoes and these for me."
"Then, that's what I'll do then," Leo said. "How about you carry your shoes and socks and once I get them for you, you can go ahead and wear those the rest of the day?"
"Sounds awesome," Max said.
Max sat down on the bench one more time for Leo to remove the flip flops and put them in the box. Leo put the other four boxes that he stacked in the places he got them from. Max got his shoes and socks and stood up. Leo then came back, got the two boxes remaining and then went to the cash register to officially buy them. Once Leo bought them, Max followed him out of the store and down the mall to a bench. Max sat down and laid his shoes and socks on the floor. Leo sat down next to Max and got the flip flops out of the box and got the tags off before giving them to Max to put on. Leo then got Max's shoes and socks to put in the box before closing the box. Once Max got his flip flops on, the two stood back up and went down the mall until they found a clothes store to go in.
"So, what will be our goal here, Leo?" Max asked.
"I am going to look for us some summer clothes," Leo said. "You know, it's not that far away."
"No, it's not," Max said. "Time goes by too fast, Leo. I wish you could use your smarts to slow it down."
"I don't know of a way to do so yet," Leo said. "But, anyway, let's find some clothes for the summer since we'll be spending a great deal of it together."
"Which means t-shirts for me," Max said. "What about for you, Leo?"
"Same here," Leo said. "I'm also getting me some work shorts."
"I probably need to do the same," Max said.
"Yeah, you do," Leo said. "Don't worry. I'm sure there are plenty of options."
Max and Leo searched through the store, tried on some shirts and some shorts and found a few to buy. Once they got out of that store, they started down the mall.
"Alright, we got you a pair of shoes, we got you some flip flops, and we got us some summer clothes, now what?" Leo asked.
Max and Leo looked at each other and said, "Let's go look for some video games."
Max and Leo went down the mall until they found the video game store. They went in and found a couple of the games that Leo wanted. Once Leo bought the games, they went outside of the store and down the mall.
"Alright, our shopping is complete," Leo said. "And all this walking and buying is making me hungry, Max, so let's go to that restaurant in this mall that has the buffet."
"Sounds awesome," Max said.
Leo and Max went into the restaurant, fixed themselves a plate and a glass to drink and sat down at a table to enjoy the food. Once they got through eating, they left the mall and took a city bus back to the hotel. The two then got back to their room and the two sat down on their bed.
"Well, we had a very eventful day and it's only afternoon," Max said.
"Yeah, so, I guess you want to get some pool time in," Leo said.
"I sure do," Max said. "At least nobody has to get me out of a pair of shoes. I can get used to this."
"You sure can," Leo said.
Max took off his new flip flops and then stood up to take his shirt and shorts off, unveiling his swimming suit.
"Have fun, maybe later I'll order us some pizza," Leo said.
"Sounds awesome, Leo," Max said.
Max left Leo alone in the hotel room to go swimming.
