"Is anyone home?" James called out as he shut the front door, and placed his keys on the stand next to the door as he toed off his shoes. He could hear footsteps coming down the hall, and immediately grinned when he saw Breanne walking toward him. "There's my girls," he added in a warm tone, his smiled widening when his gaze fell on his daughter.

"Who is that, Scarlet?" Breanne commented to the toddler in her arms, pointing at James, and they both laughed when she started to squirm to get out of Breanne's arms. "Someone's excited," she added as she placed Scarlet on her feet.

"Did you miss me?" James asked in an amused tone as he knelt down, holding his arms out as Scarlet ran towards him. "Hi baby," he cooed as he engulfed her in his arms and lifted her up, hugging her tight to his chest as he breathed in the innocent scent of her hair. Glancing up, James smiled at Breanne as he cradled their daughter, and held a free arm out to her, silently requesting she come to him. Once she was by him, he pulled her into his side and kissed her tenderly, his hand softly stroking her back. "Hi beautiful," he murmured, smiling down at her.

"Hi handsome," Breanne said with a smile as she looked up at him. "I missed you. We both missed you."

"I missed you both, too, sweetheart. I'm so glad to be back home," he commented as he gave them both a squeeze.

"How was the flight?"

"Other than the delay, it went just fine." Breanne simply smiled up at him. "How do you feel about going out on a date with me?"

Breanne gave a small laugh. "A date? What, are we in high school?"

"Adults can have dates too, you little smart ass," he retorted, and they both laughed. "I just wanted some alone time with you, that's all. I missed you terribly. I thought maybe dinner, and a trip to the theatre might be nice. There's a new play on going on at John Golden I have been dying to see."

"What about Scarlet?"

"I already spoke to Alex and Rebecca, they are going to keep her overnight."

"Oh, so you just assumed I would agree to this?"

"I know I can usually persuade you," he replied smugly, making her smirk as she shook her head. "Will you please be my date for the evening?"

Looking into his eyes, Breanne knew he was right. He could talk her into damn near anything, every single time. "That does sound really nice, it's been a while since we went to a show together," she commented, and he smiled. "I guess you twisted my arm hard enough, I'd love to join you."

James simply smiled, and leaned down to kiss her. "Go get ready while I get Scarlet's things together, and spend some time with her."

Breanne frowned. "Honey, you've been traveling all day. You should shower first, and get more settled in."

Again, James kissed her. "I already showered, and am ready when you are."

"Wait, what? How?" she asked, perplexed by his statement.

James smirked at her confused expression. "I stopped by Alex and Rebecca's place before coming here. I wanted to make sure they were okay with keeping Scarlet, and didn't want to keep you waiting once I got here. I want to show you off as soon as I can. Now go, go," he insisted, giving her a nudge, and grinning Breanne shook her head as she made her way into the bathroom to take a long, hot shower. She had to admit, it was nice to be able to shower as long as she wanted and not have to worry about what Scarlet was doing.

Taking her time, Breanne was thorough in ensuring she was properly ready for the evening. It was clear James wanted to make it a special night together, and she wanted to make sure her appearance more than met his approval. As a final touch, she put on some lotion and a few spritz of perfume before checking herself one last time in the mirror. Fixing a strand of her hair, she found herself content with the end result, and made her way into the living room where she could hear music playing. As she approached the large open space, she could not help but to smile at the site of James dancing around the room with Scarlet, a warmth filling her chest from the amount of love she had for these two individuals. "Should I come back?" she asked, finally making her presence known.

James spun around to face her, and immediately smiled. "Don't be ridiculous, you're keeping your cute little ass right where it is," he replied, making her laugh. He looked her over, before adding quietly, "You look incredible, Bree."

She smiled. "Why thank you, I had hoped you would approve," she commented, making him chuckle.

"I always approve when it comes to you," he replied, and put Scarlet down when she began to squirm in his arms.

As soon as Breanne saw the toddler was running towards her, she knelt down, and immediately scooped her up into her arms. "Oh, you changed her," she commented when she noticed Scarlet was no longer wearing the outfit she had put her in. "Did she make a mess?"

"No, I bought her a shirt and wanted her to try it on."

"Oh, you did?" Breanne asked curiously, and pulled Scarlet back to examine her shirt. When she saw there were words on it, she read what it said, and her heart immediately stopped. Looking up at James, she attempted to find words, but was left completely speechless.

"What does it say, Bree?" he asked, acting oblivious.

"It...it says..."

"What? I didn't actually read it, I just bought it," he said with a small shrug as he stepped closer to them.

Breanne looked down at her daughter one more time. "It says...'Mommy, will you marry my daddy?'," she said in a quiet voice, and when she looked back up her eyes immediately filled with tears at the site of James kneeling before her, holding out to her a small velvet box with the most beautiful diamond ring she had ever seen sitting snugly within it.

"Bree...I love you. I could never express how incredible you've made my life, and I want you all to myself in every way possible, so I was hoping...Breanne...will you marry me?" he asked, his nervousness and anticipation obvious in his eyes.

Her face crumpling, Breanne immediately nodded, and watched him as he slid the ring on her finger. As soon as he was back on his feet he wrapped her up in his arms, and burying her face in him she shed silent tears. "I love you," she finally said after a long moment of them simply holding onto each other, her voice muffled in him. When she forced herself to pull away, she repeated, "I love you so much, James."

Softly, he wiped away her tears. "I love you too," he replied quietly, and leaning down kissed her deeply. "Now. Time to go celebrate," he added once he pulled away, and took Scarlet from her once more.

"So was the plan for this to be a celebratory night this whole time?" she asked as she grabbed her purse, watching James grab their daughter's overnight bag as she draped it across her chest.

He looked back at her as he slung the bag over his shoulder. "I told you I can persuade you," he commented teasingly, holding his hand out to her as he grinned, and grinning back she simply walked toward him, accepting his hand before they walked out of their home. Having been convinced for so long she would not find love again after her first husband, Breanne was forever grateful for the new chapter James started in her life, and could not wait to see what it would bring them.
