Her heart was beating out of her chest, it's been doing that since yesterday, giving her a dizzy feeling. Every time she thought about her kiss with Cedric, her cheeks blushed and a smile formed on her lips, so much that they hurt from the burn and grinning. Butterflies swarmed in her stomach as she waited by the lake for him to come by, glancing down to the note that he had snuck in at dinnertime when he walked by. She breathed out as Aurora wondered what was going to happen from here on out, a Death Eater's daughter dating a Triwizard Tournament champion… and not Viktor Krum. Aurora tried her best not to think of what others would think, for now she just wanted to live in the moment.
Twigs broke as Aurora turned around to see Cedric running around the corner before he stopped and smiled, "I didn't think you'd actually come"
"Honestly…" Aurora stopped, "I didn't think so either"
"That's a start" Cedric slowly walked up to her, "At least you thought about showing up"
"Yeah, well" Aurora glanced down to her feet, "I'm still trying to make sense of all of this"
"Was the kiss the last thing you thought about?"
Aurora glanced up and blushed before she said, "Maybe?"
"And was it the first thing that came to your mind?" Cedric asked, "You wondered if it was a dream but somehow knew it wasn't?"
"Yes" she said softly, "Why?"
"Because that's what's going on with me" Cedric replied, "It means we like each other"
He took a step closer as her hand immediately went out and touched his chest, instinct to keep people away from her. But it lingered as she glanced down to her hand on his shirt before it was replaced by his bandaged up one, covering hers. She looked up to him just in time as his lips gently brushed up against hers. She gasped but let hers stay as she moved in a little bit closer to get a better feel of her lips on his.
"So what happens from here?" Aurora asked, "What do we do?"
"We can start by going to Hogsmeade for some butterbeers, maybe have lunch there-"
"No!" Aurora let out, "I- I mean, I- I'm not ready"
Cedric gave a side nod as he said, "I thought you might say something like that"
"I'm sorry" Aurora said, "It's just that, I'm still having a hard time making sense of all of this"
Aurora noticed something moving in the distance before a straw basket came into view as a blanket laid out on the ground. She looked over to Cedric who almost seemed proud of himself as he continued to flick his wand. Her eyes glanced back down to the alarming amount of food that came out of the basket, so much that she didn't think they would have space to sit down.
"I didn't know what you liked so I brought options" Cedric said as he pointed to them, "Charred tomato and ricotta toast, pesto caprese sandwiches, and lobster ravioli"
Aurora raised her eyebrow, "Lobster ravioli?"
"Well, you are a Slytherin" Cedric said, "From a pureblood family"
"And you think we always eat sophisticated food," Aurora said slowly.
"Unless that is a myth" Cedric shrugged.
"Not entirely" Aurora admitted, "But I do like eating whatever I want here at Hogwarts"
"The joy of living in a castle where no one gets to tell you what to eat" Cedric said, "Shall we?"
Aurora placed her head high before she said, "Yes"
"I hope you're hungry" Cedric helped her sit down.
She actually was starving, she didn't realize it until she smelled the food. Aurora was too nervous of actually being alone with Cedric once more.
"I'm surprised you got to have time away from your fans" Aurora mentioned, "How did you do it?"
Cedric shrugged, "Just said I needed time to understand the golden egg"
Aurora cocked her head, "What was in it?"
"Nothing but horrible screeching" Cedric grimaced, "I almost felt bad that the other Hufflepuffs hosted a party just to have it opened"
"And there wasn't a prize?" Aurora asked, "Maybe you have to wait a little bit before the message comes through"
Cedric looked up to her, "You try listening to that blasted thing, I'm surprised I can still hear"
Aurora looked down, disappointed before she said, "At least there's still time left"
Aurora decided to take the sandwich and bit into it, her cheeks started to burn when she noticed that Cedric was watching her.
"How do you like it?" Cedric asked.
"Brilliant" Aurora looked at him, "What are you going to have?"
Cedric clapped his hands, "Let's see… I think the lobster ravioli"
Aurora smirked, "Really?"
"When am I going to have it again?" Cedric asked, "Especially when I'm on a date overlooking the lake"
"It is a very nice day" Aurora turned her head, "Snow is going to start falling any day now"
"So what did you tell your friends to keep them away?" Cedric turned to her, "That one that always looks mad and the one that flirts nonstop"
"Devery and Gabriella" Aurora corrected, "Devery's in detention and Gabriella is off in Hogsmeade trying to get Viktor Krum to ask her out"
"Then that keeps you to myself" Cedric smiled.
Cedric leaned in for a kiss, making Aurora hesitate only slightly before their lips touched. He was gentle and only pushed slightly in with the second kiss. Once again, Aurora couldn't stop smiling as she wondered if she would ever get used to having a boy's attention. The kiss broke but he kept his face near hers for a moment while longer. He traced the side of her cheek before straightening up into a normal sitting position.
Aurora suddenly became curious, "Gabriella flirted with you?"
Cedric scoffed, "She was only interested in Slytherin's until this year"
"So she has flirted with you" Aurora said slowly.
"Don't think too much into it" Cedric reached out and gripped onto her hand, "She's not the Slytherin I'm interested in"
Aurora hesitated as she said, "Do you know how bad this will look on you when people find out that you're interested in me?"
"I don't care what other people think" Cedric said, "I promised myself that this last year I will do whatever I want, including dating you"
Aurora's heart skipped a beat as she looked up to see how serious he was. She leaned in until her head was on his chest as his arms wrapped around her body as she felt his lips on the top of her head. He felt her sigh into him as her body started to relax to the sound of his heartbeat. Cedric pet her hair as he looked out to the lake as a smile emerged from his lips.
