I remember that scene in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1, the one in Malfoy Manor... I always cry a lot during that scene. Some tactics to hide your crying while watching a sad part of a movie or book...Just put the book down for a while, bury your face into a pillow, think of puppies or kittens, skip the scene, or bang your head into the wall repeatedly saying "it's just a book". I do the last one a lot.
Hermione sat in her cubicle at the Department Of Law Enforcement, scanning some papers regarding a prisoner's release, they were having some doubts about their decision. She sighed, leaning back in her chair, almost touching the other end of the cube. Smelling the wonderful aroma of parchment, Hermione got up and off to the Ministry library and got out The Art Of Occlumency, flipping through the pages until she got to the seventh chapter, History Of Occlumency. "...The first incantation to prevent the caster from taking control of the mind was speculum, which reflected the spell until they discovered a much more efficient spell, confortamini animo. This means 'firm mind' and was used for years until the one we use the most came from St. James..." Something snapped in Hermione's mind. "I need to invent my own spell."
It was nighttime, Harry sat on his bed, barely stirring. He knew Hermione was awake, she had a tremendous amount to do and some research for unknown purposes. It was dark, nothing was stirring, except a mouse that was crawling around, however it had antlers, like a spell gone wrong. It had blue fur, too, like a Smurf. It skittered off to the desk to nibble some of the peeling wallpaper at the end of the corner. Harry couldn't bear being in bed any longer and went downstairs, jamming his toe in one of the rough spots in the railing. The impact sent his glasses flying, and when he expected them to shatter on the floor below, it only dropped into Ron's hands. "Watch your step, Harry," Ron told him and returned the glasses to him, which Harry almost dropped thanks to his poor eyesight. "Confortamini Animo!" a purple light bounced on the walls, Harry ducked, and Ron caught the light in a tea kettle. Hermione, looking frazzled, came out of her bedroom. "Merlin's beard! Hermione, was that thing you?" Her arm was bleeding again, only half of the scar was traced, giving the impression of "Mudbl-" The thing rattled in the kettle, wanting to get out. They both stared. "That... thing..." she stammered, pointing at the teapot "is the thing that kept trying to get inside my head, is in that kettle you're holding, Ron." all color drained from his face. Harry drew his wand, and Ron opened the lid. As soon as the purple thing emerged, "Stupefy!" the thing dropped to the ground, and the mist started to swirl, going upwards into a funnel, the mist turned to a smokelike substance, making Ron gag. A Death Eater emerged. Not any Death Eater. Professor Dolores Umbridge. Ron took out his wand, so did Hermione. Umbridge took out her wand as if there was going to be a battle in the living room at that moment, Ron could tell that Hermione was quivering a little, her wand sliding around in her grip. "Expelliarmus!" Harry shouted, and the wand shot out her hand. She pulled up her sleeve, revealing the Dark Mark they all knew. Hermione emerged, grabbing both Harry, Ron, and Dolores, and Apparated to a forest.
When they got there, Umbridge was the purple smoke thing she once was, and she knew she had signaled Lucius. Black mists swirled around them, taking the figures of Death Eaters, surrounding the trio. Standing at the other end of this oval they had created was Lucius, Harry's scar burned like heck. His eyes were brighter, and his skin was paler as he broke into a smirk. He swirled his wand, and fire arose around the outside of the oval, and Lucius said "Hand her over, and nobody gets hurt." nobody moved. The smoke was burning, and Ron slung his arms over Hermione's shoulders "Hand her over!" Hermione's wand had miraculously disappeared, and she started to walk to the other side of the oval. "Hermione!" Ron grasped her arm. "I don't want anything to happen. To you guys." She looked at Lucius, and then at them, Ron's eyes pleading with her. Lucius realized what her answer would be. "Mudblood!" he aimed his wand, and shouted "Avada Kedavra!" Both Harry and Ron were dazed by the brilliant flash of light. When Harry opened his eyes, the Death Eaters were gone, the fire was gone, their wands were present, lying on the forest floor in front of him like it was only a dream, but the one piece of evidence that concluded it was real, was the lifeless figure in Ron's arms. My mother died this way. My father died this way, Fred died his way, Sirius died this way. Please don't let her die this way. Her eyes were still open, staring blankly at the sky. Ron felt her pulse. Nothing. Harry felt it. Nothing. Ron got his wand and looked up at the sky. A green skull, with a snake around its jawbone, was suspended in the sky, the snake hissing as it slithered in through the jaw, and out through its eye sockets. "Fluxus Sanguinis!" Harry had no idea why he was saying this. "Fluxus Sanguinis!" Harry could feel something under him "Fluxus Sanguinis!"It felt like a thud coming from the earth "Fluxus Sanguinis!" Ron shouted desperately, the earth started to shake "Fluxus Sanguinis!" he yelled, and he quieted was he saw a glimpse of movement from the corpse in his arms. Harry felt her pulse, and he could feel it, with a subtle thud, thud, thud, thud. "Wake up Hermione!" she was still deathly pale. A movement of her hand, and gripped Ron's. Her chest was rising and falling steadily. "No worries now, Ron. No worries" he confronted.
It was a day later, and both Harry and Ron were taking some time off to tend to Hermione, who demanded that she was okay, and told them not to take her to St. Mungos. She and Harry had had a long argument about the matter, and Harry ended up angry, almost dueling his friend before Ron stepped in. Harry and Hermione were just glaring at each other, and Harry started to shout "I want the best-!" there was scratching at the door, like nails on a chalkboard. Everyone stopped talking, looking at the doorstep. "How..." said Ron, staring at the door. He cautiously opened the door to a wolf, it had husky-like fur, in a shade of black and white in such a manner that it could hide in darkness and brightness. The wolf jumped onto one of the couches and sat like a civilized human. "OK, I know you're alarmed to see a talking wolf Animangus stroll into your house." Harry was defiantly alarmed, jumping a little when the wolf's lips moved, and words actually came out of its mouth. Words! It was almost comical, seeing the trio's reaction, Hermione scooted to the other edge of the couch, far away from the wolf, Ron had also jumped a little, his hair now out in all directions, dire of a haircut. "Wha- what are you doing here?" Harry asked. The wolf dropped a jar she had been holding in her mouth. "Memories. What are these for?" the wolf cocked its head "I've been to Malfoy Manor before, not on good terms though. All their plans are in there." Hermione scratched behind the wolf's ears, and she sighed in relief, "Oh, that feels good..." she wagged her tail, thumping loudly on the fabric of the couch. "Have I seen you before?" Harry asked her, and the wolf jumped off the bed. It trotted to the other end of the hallway and started to run, galloping to the wall. As the wall closed in, Ron could see more human features, until he could see a familiar face. "Name's Ahiga." Hermione was a little bothered, shifting in her seat. "I was the one there. In the Department of Mysteries." Indeed, she had white hair and looked like someone who could easily go through the vents, wolf, or no wolf. Ron tripped over his own foot. She sighed. "I know. I didn't want to turn me in, but I didn't want to get me thrown in Azkaban for killing that Death Eater." Harry gave a quick nod. "Don't worry about it. You're safe." She starts for the door. "Ahiga," she turned to Hermione "Thanks. For everything." Ahiga cracked a smile, and wolf ears started to sprout, and then the snout, until Ahiga was back into a wolf, and went out the door.
