A/N: Hi! Sorry for the long wait. Happy New Year!
"And...done." Marinette murmured as she moved away from Adrien, going to her notebook to write the last details. She was still overwhelmed with everything that happened in the past 2 hours.
The way Adrien talked to her as if he hated her, then his confession and kiss in the rain. She has been dreaming of that moment for years. And it finally happened. Yet, as romantic as it was, she was still freezing after spending minutes in the pouring rain.
When the two decided it would be best to head back inside, Nathalie already had two towels ready for them. Marinette was so embarrassed, realising the assistant watched the whole thing. The two dried a bit before getting inside. Adrien still insisted on Marinette showering, so she wouldn't catch a cold. He made sure to give her one of his hoodies and took her wet clothes to get them dried before she left.
While Marinette felt some sort of warmth at the feeling of having Adrien so caring and loving, she couldn't help but question herself over so many things. How did Adrien find out about her crush? How did he suddenly fall for her? And how would he get warm if she took a shower in his bathroom? The last question got the answer fastest; as soon as she walked out of his bathroom, dressed in a black hoodie with a G - the signature of the Agreste brand-, almost reaching her knees, she saw Adrien standing on his couch, his clothes changed, his hair all messy.
"I showered in another bathroom, don't worry." He told her before she could even ask him. Getting up, the boy walked up to her, a smile on his face. "Shall we finish what he started?"
Her cheeks were all red at this question. She thought of all the possibilities of what they could finish... well, except for the right one.
Seeing her flushed face, Adrien laughed. "I mean the measurements for the suit. My father still wants them." He teased, making Marinette blush even more at her thoughts.
Of course, the measuring process was a journey. Marinette has to touch Adrien almost everywhere. Which was... a bit awkward for the aspiring designer. Sure, touching him around the legs, arms and chest wasn't a big deal. But going to his thighs, close to other places... well, awkward. Yet, she was the only one embarrassed. Adrien was used to the entire measuring process, of course. And even if it was Marinette, he wasn't that ashamed of having her touch him.
Adrien sat down next to Marinette, looking at her notebook, then at her. He smiled a bit, watching her concentrated face.
The tension and nerves he felt 2 hours ago were overwhelming. He watched Marinette cry against him. He saw how the negative emotions took over her... how the akuma was approaching the two of them. He knew he messed up badly and the last thing he wanted was to get Marinette akumatized because of him. Adrien had no choice but to be completely honest with her. This was what it took for him to confess. And good thing he did it. Good thing he got there in time and didn't hesitate. Because, just as he told her he loved her, the akuma almost touched Marinette. Yet, it stopped and turned around, flying away.
The blonde ran his fingers over her cheek, brushing some strands of her hair behind her ear. He watched her cheeks turn red and laughed. "You're too cute." He whispered and kissed the top of her head.
Marinette smiled a bit, but it was a slightly forced smile. Adrien frowned a bit. "I know this look..."
Her face turned, her blue eyes looking up into his green ones. Marinette sighed, closing the notebook. "Sorry, it is just... I have so many questions." She ran a hand through her hair.
Adrien raised one eyebrow. "Listening."
"Well, firstly... how did you find out?" Before he could answer, Marinette continued. "It was Nino, wasn't it? I knew he'd accidentally tell you one day!"
He smirked a bit.
You told me yourself, love. He thought. Of course, he couldn't tell her this.
"I won't tell you." He poked her cheek gently. "Let's just say he gave me a life lesson that confirmed my theory."
"What did the moron say?" Marinette whined.
"Something about what if I were in love with you and he knew, but I didn't want him to tell you a thing; you went to ask him if I liked you and he said yes, which would've led to me being upset with him."
The blue-haired girl cringed, covering her face with her hands. "Jesus, he literally confirmed everything!"
Adrien kept laughing. He went to wrap his arms around Marinette. He felt her tense a bit, then relax into his arms. "Next question."
"How come you suddenly fell for me? It took you years."
"I guess finding out you liked me made me really think about my feelings for you. I was in denial all those years. In fact, I've always liked you more than a friend. I just... I don't know, I kept rejecting this idea until now- okay, not rejecting; not taking it into consideration." Adrien explained. "When I realised I loved you, I wanted to tell you immediately. However, I saw something I didn't want to..." He trailed off.
Marinette frowned a bit, looking up at him. However, she kind of had an idea... and things started making sense. "You saw me and Luka, right?" Seeing him nod made her sigh a bit, "And that's why you've been a jerk to me the day before?"
Adrien rubbed the back of his head. "Um... well, kind of. I mean, I was already sad and angry I lost you to Luka. But what really made me snap was the fact that you talked about honesty, but you hid your feelings from me... years." He shrugged.
"I tried to confess... many times, in fact. But failed miserably." She laughed. "One example... oh, God, that's embarrassing." She whined, then continued. "Remember the list I gave you when you left for London?"
"You mean the diarrhea prescription?"
She nodded. "Yeah... I actually wrote you a letter confessing... but mixed everything and... yeah."
Adrien raised his eyebrows, then started laughing hard. He held his stomach, feeling tears in his eyes. Marinette was really embarrassed, but amused as well.
"Oh, dear, that was... adorable." He smiled, shaking his head.
"It was embarrassing..." She rolled her eyes, playing with the sleeves of the hoodie. "Anyway... I wanted to confess. The last time was in New York, when I followed the car and wanted to tell you to stay. That I loved you... again, failed. I got discouraged and saw this as a sign to give up on my crush." Marinette continued, then sighed. "I don't know why I kissed Luka that day. I was overwhelmed, I guess."
Adrien nodded. He didn't like them talking about the kiss between her and Luka. "How are things between you two?" He whispered, realisation hitting him. Did he make Marinette cheat on Luka?
Marinette shrugged. "Not sure. We haven't kissed since. And definitely didn't discuss being together." She looked at him. "I need to talk to Luka. I am going to hurt him, but he will understand. He always put my happiness first... which makes me feel bad because he fell for the wrong person." She looked guilty. She looked at Adrien, blushing. "Sorry, I know listening to me talk about this isn't the most pleasurable thing."
No, it wasn't. But it didn't bother him that much or annoyed him. "It's okay. Yeah, you should talk to him soon." He nodded. Adrien got up, holding a hand out for her. "Come on, unless you want dad walking on us and imagining... many things." He smirked a bit.
Marinette's eyes widened, and she giggled.
2 months later
"Another year, another fabulous fashion show! Gabriel Agreste is going to present his new collection tonight. But, be ready, because the show is full of surprises. You heard me. This year, Gabriel Agreste's new collection will include some creations from the one and only, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, the girl on everyone's lips after it was announced she and supermodel Adrien Agreste are dating-"
Marinette turned off the Tv, whining as she pressed her forehead against the desk. "This night will be a disaster, Tikki, Wayzz."
"Don't say this, Marinette. The designs are brilliant and-"
"What if the people hate them?" She sighed, "Besides, there are many people who say I only got my designs included because I am dating Adrien..."
"Marinette... they are jealous you are dating and just haters. Don't let them get to you." Wayzz said, looking over the guardian's worried face.
The girl got up, walking around the room. "Okay, let's say I'll stop thinking about it. But what if Mr. Agreste suddenly decides they're not good enough and takes them out of the show? Or does something to humiliate me? After all, he hates me."
Before any of the kwamis could respond, there was a knock on the trap, making them quickly hide. Marinette yelped, jumping. "Ay, uhm... come in." She said, thinking it was her dad. However, her eyes widened in surprise as she saw the blonde head pop.
"Hello there, beauty. Did I interrupt your talking to yourself session?" Adrien teased, walking inside the room.
She blushed. "What? No, I was not talking to myself."
"Hm?" He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer.
"N...no! I was talking with Alya... we've been talking for hours, in fact, and just hung up when you knocked." She lied. Well, she wasn't talking all alone to herself... but she couldn't tell Adrien she talked with her kwamis.
"Really? For hours?" Adrien's lips were brushing her forehead. "That's weird, since I just dropped Alya to the store around the block. I guess the only logical explanation for you two talking for hours until I came would be telepathy." He smirked.
Marinette cringed, hiding her face into his chest. "You think I am crazy, right?"
"Not crazier than before." He teased, gently patting her back. "Kidding."
"What did you hear?"
"Not a lot... just you babbling about my father hating you." Adrien looked down at her. "You know, he doesn't hate you. Otherwise, he wouldn't have kept your designs- and no, he won't take them out or do something to humiliate you. He won't sabotage his show." He assured her, seeing her open her mouth to interrupt him.
"Well, he doesn't like me, either." Marinette crossed her arms over her chest.
The model sighed. "Well, in his defense, he doesn't like the idea of me having a girlfr-"
"Unless she fences, comes from a rich, noble family and her name is Kagami." Marinette shrugged, making Adrien roll his eyes.
"Don't start."
"I won't... besides, I didn't say it jealously." Marinette smiled. "Hey, I understand him preferring someone who has more things in common with you, who has a social status as yours over me... who is the opposite." She laughed a bit. He saw him about to argue with her, so she quickly continued. "It's true. I am not rich, I do not fence, I-"
Her eyes widened as Adrien's lips smashed against her. She giggled, kissing him back, her hands moving to the back of his neck, her fingers going to play with his hair. He smiled against her lips. He pulled away, smirking. "Ah, best way to shut you up." He teased, pecking her lips. Marinette rolled her eyes a bit, but her smile never left her lips.
To say their relationship was insane the past two months was an understatement. Everyone went wild at the news of Adrien and Marinette dating. Jealous girls, happy fans... and a very furious Gabriel. He was against their relationship the most and tried so many things to break them up. From threatening to take Adrien out of school to ruin Marinette's future in fashion, this man had no limit. However, Adrien would not accept anymore. He was almost an adult and had enough of his father's attitude. For the first time, he stood his ground and made things very clear to Gabriel. How he'd stop fencing, playing the piano, stop being a model for him.
"I don't care what you want, father. It's my life! Accept it or you will lose me forever." Adrien threatened, his hands slammed against his father's desk, the two Agreste men staring into each other's eyes with burning fury.
Apparently, everything worked, as Gabriel stopped coming between the two. In the first weeks, he was as cold as usual to Adrien and even colder to Marinette. She felt really weird coming every week to the Agreste mansion to talk with Gabriel about the designs, because he would barely look at her - and, when he did, his eyes were sterner than she'd ever seen them. Everything he told her was with some sort of disgust she has never heard.
Yet, things got better. Gabriel went back to the way he acted around Marinette and dropped the overly strict act. Of course, the designer would never miss a chance to point out to his son what a huge mistake he made by giving up on Kagami - sometimes even around Marinette.
As for things with Kagami, they were a bit awkward the first few weeks. They'd see each other at fencing, but she'd do anything to avoid him at first. Later, she got used to the thought of Adrien being in love with someone else. She was still hurt, but didn't want to give up on the friendship she had with Adrien and Marinette. So she acted now all normal around the two; she was allowed to go to sleepovers with Marinette and started becoming friends with the other girls.
And for Luka... the moment Marinette told him she and Adrien got together, she could see the pure sadness that took over him. After all, how could he not be sad when the girl he loved got in another relationship... especially when he started hoping things would change between them? But also, Marinette saw genuine happiness when he congratulated her. Yes, he felt miserable, but he was happy Marinette finally found her happiness. After all, he'd find someone right for him one day or another... right?
"What made you come here so early?" Marinette asked Adrien, walking to sit on the chair.
"Well, father wants us to arrive earlier for some final adjustments." He shrugged a bit.
"Ah...oh...sure, go ahead. I'll catch up with you." Marinette said.
"Need help with carrying your clothes?" The girl shook her head. Adrien shrugged and kissed her cheek, then went down to her living room. Marinette sighed, looking for Tikki.
"Come on, we have to go..." She whispered, opening her bad for the kwami. She waved at Wayzz, then went to grab her clothes.
All she could hope was for the show not to be a mess.
Marinette looked at herself in the mirror, feeling a bit anxious. She could not believe that it was all happening. Her last fashion show was years ago, when her hat was featured in Gabriel's collection. She and Adrien were just friends.
And now not only she had some outfits included in the show, but she was also Adrien's girlfriend.
"Adrien's girlfriend..." A small smile came on her lips. She loved the sound of this.
The girl arranged her belt a bit. She went for a pretty bold color combination; purple and red. Some people would say they clashed and never looked good together. But, just like Gabriel said once, all colors go well together if you know what shade to use.
The dress she wore had long sleeves and a turtleneck. It was not too short, nor too long - yet, it had a thigh split, decent, of course. The skin of her leg was only a little exposed, as she wore heeled boots over her knees, tight and red. She went with a red belt to emphasize her waist and hips, going really well with the purple of the dress.
Her hair was straightened and went to her chest - it grew out a bit over the past years and she decided not cutting it anymore. She had little makeup on; she felt like going with bold eyeshadow or lip would've been too much. So just some mascara, foundation and pink-nude lipstick.
She really was stunning.
Marinette was so focused on studying herself that she didn't hear the knock or the door opening. But as Adrien's image started being visible in the mirror, she smiled a bit. The suit he wore fit him like a glove. And the color was amazing on him. She has never seen him in red before.
She saw his green eyes slightly wide as he looked over at her. Marinette blushed, turning to look at him. "D...do you think it's okay?" Ah, there goes her shyness.
Adrien smiled, moving closer. "You're stunning." He whispered, sincere. He had a hand behind his back, making Marinette frown a bit. He smiled, then continued. "I thought about helping with the styling as well..."
Marinette raised one eyebrow, curious. Adrien laughed, moving the hand from his back, a black velvet box in his hand. She frowned, "What's that?"
Adrien smiled, opening the box for her. Her eyes widened instantly. She looked at him, then at the box again. "Adrien... you didn't have to." In front of her was a beautiful jewelry set. The necklace had a small, red pendant; the bracelet was covered in the tiny red stones and the earrings had a tiny red stone in the middle.
"Well, I know topping the knock-off Marinette Lucky Charm I gave you for your birthday years ago would be hard-" He smirked, watching her giggle. "But I thought of you when I saw this ruby set. I don't know why, but every time I see red, I think of you. Plus...they can compliment your outfit." He added.
Marinette smiled, grabbing the box. "Thanks... you really didn't have to." She whispered, leaning to kiss him softly. "You look hot, by the way." She winked as they parted away, making Adrien laugh.
"I know." He winked back, turning around to walk out. Marinette smiled as she watched him, then went to put on the necklace and the bracelet. She was about to grab the earrings, but stopped.
No. She couldn't take off the earrings...not again. The last time she did it, things were a disaster and she and Cat Noir somehow ended up switching miraculouses. She still had no idea how he lost the miraculous.
"Marinette... I know what you're thinking." Tikki said, admiring the jewels. She sighed, then smiled. "You can put them on, I'll take care of the earrings."
"No, Tikki, I can't..."
"But it will be more dangerous to keep them. Adrien will notice and he may suspect you are Ladybug." Tikki pointed out. Marinette sighed. She took off the earrings, then handed them to Tikki. "Plus, I am here and I will stand by close in case some akuma appears."
Marinette put on the earrings from Adrien, blushing. The perfect touches. "Tikki... am I the only one who has a terrible feeling? I mean... Hawk Moth has been super quiet these past weeks..."
Tikki sighed. "I know... but maybe he gave up, who knows."
"I hope so. As much as I love being Ladybug, I enjoy the free time a lot more." She laughed. She took Tikki in her palms, then kissed her head.
