I hope you'll enjoy! (Also, if you want, review so I will now what you think about the story! Constructive criticism is also appreciated as long as it's polite and helpful)
I know it's been a lot of time since I've last updated this story, but you can blame my professors for that. Now I've started Christmas holydays, so happy Holydays you all! I should update new chapters before Christmas, but in case it won't happen, happy early Christmas!
Also, I'm kind of confused on what is going on with Heather and Kevin's post on Twitter. I'm glad she apologized, and I kind of understand what she wanted to say, but what Mark did was unforgivable, and that's all. What do you think about it? I'm quite torn about what to think. I'll be happy to hear what you think, as long as you're polite.
Anyway, in this chapter I completely made up the whole Aquarium place, since it doesn't exist in real life and I don't even know if this kind of places exist near New York. And all the information I wrote about the dolphin… I don't really know if they are accurate. I mean, I did some research, but I'm not quite sure they are accurate.
And once again the chapter title is not a Friends quote, but it's from the movie Dirty Dancing.
Once again, enjoy! ;)
-Chapter eleven-
I've had time of time of my life
The water in which Rachel was swinging her bare legs was cold, but the beautiful blonde girl in front of her didn't seem to bother. In fact, Quinn was already in the pool, listening interested at what their tutor was saying. The tutor was a guy who was maybe twenty-five years old, and he was supposed to explain them what they had to do when the dolphins arrived.
Now, Rachel Berry was really, really gay, but she couldn't help but think that this guy was cute. He had dark blond hair, bright green eyes and his skin was perfectly tanned. He also had a nice smile, and Quinn liked him too, since she was looking him in the eyes and not trying to avoid to meet them.
Rachel had listened carefully at all the rules they had to follow, and now she was just watching with an amused and loving gaze at her girlfriend, asking lots of quick questions. Rachel could see Quinn tapping her hand on her leg, in excitement. Their relationship hadn't went that far yet, but Rachel had to strongly bite her lips and cross her legs at the sight of the blonde only wearing a bath suit.
"S-so when i-is h-he c-coming?" Quinn asked at the guy, who was named Steve. Rachel found adorable that Quinn had already started calling the dolphin him and not it. And besides, Steve had told them the dolphin name was Ace, and that he was male.
"In a few minutes" Steve replied, and she pointed a hatch on one of the wall of the enormous swimming pool, which was at least fifty hundred square meters large, "Ace is very shy, and we found him last year, with a plastic bag stuck around his head. He risked to choke, and now his lungs are a bit weak, so we can't really let him go for now."
"But y-you plan t-too, rig-right?" Quinn asked, a bit worried.
"Of course, that's what we do here" Steve offered her a little smile.
Quinn turned and gave Rachel a big smile, and she walked through the water to give her a quick kiss on the cheek, and then she pecked her lips. "Thanks" she muttered softly, "Th-this is l-like the… the best g-gift ev-ever, R-Rae. I l-love you."
"Love you too, sweetie," Rachel replied quietly, tucking a blonde lock behind Quinn's ear. Those hazel eyes were going to be the death of her, seriously. "But I think you should focus now, you don't want to miss this."
In fact, a buzzing noise was filling the pool, and the water was lightly waving. Rachel hear a squeaky noise coming from Steve's walkie-talkie, and she thought she heard the words "he's coming, Steve, ready?" but she wasn't really sure. A few seconds later, the hatch slowly opened, and in a little storm of bubbles and little waves, a grey, thin and elegant dolphin swam into the pool. Rachel dropped her jaw in amazement. The dolphin was grey, silky and looked shy, while he swam in a corner quietly, as far as he could from the three people. The pool was so large that she couldn't quite see the dolphin.
Rachel felt Quinn squeezing her hand so tight that she thought her bones may broke, but she didn't care. On her girlfriend face there was only awe and amazement. Rachel was actually surprised, but Quinn was immobile, completely still. No tapping on her leg, no snapping her fingers. Rachel noticed that her girlfriend was in fact barely breathing, her hazel eyes fixed on the dolphin.
"Ah, yeah, Ace is a little shy" Steve nodded, "That's why we let him meet strangers, so he can get some confidence and hopefully one day we will be able to send him back in the ocean. It will take a minute, alright… now, here's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna get near him and if he comes to me you'll get nearby, got it?"
Quinn nodded silently, and Rachel just held her hand.
"Alright, here we are" Steve smiled, then he put a hand laid down on the water, directed towards the dolphin, "Hey, Ace, it's me, it's Steve. Hey, buddy. Remember me? We met yesterday, and the day before yesterday."
Rachel rested her chin on Quinn's shoulder, and she never let go from her hand. She was actually kind of reluctant on getting that close to a wild animal, but seeing how calm and happy Quinn was, she immediately relaxed. Quinn had gave her lots of presents for Hannukah and Christmas, but as cheesy as it sounded, seeing the blonde happy was the best gift for Rachel.
After a few minutes of kind words from Steve, the dolphin swam shyly a little closer to them, the top of his silky head was barely coming out from the surface of the water. Quinn let out a soft whimper of surprise and joy, and it was so tiny and low that only Rachel heard it. That was beyond cute.
"Here we are, buddy" Steve cheered, when the dolphin's grey beak nicely hit Steve's hand. The guy smiled and let out a short laugh, then he tenderly caressed the beak and the head of the dolphin. "You really are a good guy, aren't you, Ace? You're a real gentleman, pal. Shall we meet those two lovely ladies here? Shall we, Ace?"
Rachel felt Quinn tense, and she murmured some sweet words in her hear, to calm her a little.
Steve slowly moved on his side, so the dolphin could see Quinn and Rachel. The tiny brunette was still sitting on the edge of the pool, her chin rested on Quinn's shoulder, her hands squeezing Quinn's reassuringly.
"Lay one hand on the surface of the water" Steve instructed, and Quinn slowly did it. Rachel pulled back a little, so the blonde could move more easily. "Like that, right. Now wait a little, Ace is used to recognize that gesture as a peace sign."
Instead, the dolphin emitted an acute squeak, and he quickly swam to the other side of the pool, far from them. Rachel was surprised by how quickly Ace could cover such a long distance.
"W-what…" Quinn babbled, already thinking that was her fault. "D-d-did I d-do-some-something w-w-wrong? D-d-did…"
"Quinn, sweetie, breath" Rachel told her warmly but also firmly, "It's okay, just relax. Hey, look at me." Rachel jumped lightly in the pool and she took both of Quinn's hands. The blonde was refusing to look her in the eyes, she was nervously snapping her fingers and when she tried to talk she could only stutter incomprehensibly. "Can you look me in the eyes? Please?"
Quinn reluctantly did, and Rachel smiled, wiping a single tear that dropped from Quinn's hazel eyes.
"It's fine, Quinn. It's okay. It wasn't your fault, Quinn. Was it, Steve? And even if it was, everybody makes mistakes, sweetie, it's okay," Rachel sweetly told her.
"I actually think it was my fault." Steve added, "I moved too fast, and I scared Ace. But it seemed like he liked you, because he didn't run away when he saw you. Can you just… come here a second?"
Quinn nodded, and Rachel pecked her cheek lovingly. The blonde moved towards Steve. The only noises in the enormous room were the soft splashing of the water and the hesitant breathes of the three of them. Not even Ace was making any noise. Steve showed Quinn how she had to put her hand in the water, and then he walked back, sitting on the edge of the pool next to Rachel.
"Now, just stay there, Quinn. Ace will come to you." He instructed, then she turned to face Rachel, and the brunette saw something sparkle in his green eyes. "I think she may be the right one to help us cure Ace. That poor thing is been here with us for a whole year, and we are starting to lose hope…"
But Rachel wasn't listening anymore. She wasn't because Ace was slowly swimming towards Quinn, the water waving around his sinuous and silky body. Ace's beak touched Quinn's pale and trembling hand, and the dolphin made a noise, that sounded a happy squeak in Rachel's ears. The brunette saw Quinn's entire face lit up and turning red with happiness. Quinn tenderly moved her hand on Ace's silky head, caressing the dolphin delicately. The animal seemed to smile, and he swam happily around the girl, brushing his head against her affectionately, like a cat or a dog would do.
For Rachel, Quinn's squeals of happiness, her little whimpers, her soft giggles were music. The brunette knew music very well. She knew by heart the most beautiful songs in the world, she could sing her heart out every time she needed it, but her favorite kind of music were Quinn's voice and laugh. Seeing her that happy, playing with a dolphin, just warmed her heart.
An hour later, Quinn was in the deep end of the pool, playing and swimming with the dolphin, where the pool was almost seven meters deep. The blonde was laughing and smiling, swimming underwater with one hand wrapped around Ace's dorsal fin, and the other one holding some toys the dolphin liked.
Rachel was just smiling lovingly at her girlfriend, sitting on the edge of the pool next to Steve.
"She's good with Ace" Steve observed, "That dolphin is always all shy and timid. I never saw it… him playing like that. Your girlfriend is really good with him, Rachel. We could use someone like her in here. Is she working somewhere else?"
"Nope" Rachel replied, with wide eyes. Was that guy suggesting what she thought he was?
"Did she go to college?"
"She graduated from Yale" Rachel proudly said.
"So, not veterinary or medical schools at all, right?" Steve thoughtfully said, "She can practice here, we have amazing teachers. She really is gifted, Rachel. I mean, look at her! She has done more for Ace today that most of us could during the last year."
"You are really… you are really saying that you would offer her a job here?" Rachel asked, a wide smile was already crossing her lips. Steve just nodded, and Rachel threw her arms around him. "Oh, my God! She will be so happy! Oh, my God! I can't wait to tell her!"
And she did. As soon as Quinn approached the edge of the pool again, followed by Ace as of he was a good dog, Rachel and Steve told her about the job. At first, Quinn just stayed frozen for a lot of time. Then she jumped in joy, hugging Rachel so tight that the brunette couldn't breathe. She buried her head in the crock of Rachel's neck, crying and laughing at the same time. She rambled thousands of thanks to Steve and Rachel, never letting go from her girlfriend. The brunette could feel the familiar tapping on her back.
Two taps, one tap, five quick taps.
As soon as they stepped into Rachel's home, Quinn slammed the door and pushed Rachel against it, kissing her hard. Rachel didn't have the time to realize what was happening, but she kissed Quinn's back, tenderly as always, but with a new urge, a new desire. Rachel knew that Quinn's hands were somewhere around her waist, but she was completely intoxicated by the blonde and she couldn't think straight.
Rachel moaned when Quinn moved her mouth to her jawline, then to her neck, kissing and lightly biting the brunette's skin. When Quinn's lips reached the pulse point on the diva's neck, Rachel wrapped her arms around her shoulders tightly.
The two of them kicked away their shoes and they left on the floor their coats and purses. Someway, Rachel found out that they were wearing only their bras and trousers now. All she could think about was Quinn's mouth on her skin, all over her skin. The familiar scent of shampoo and chlorine coming from the blonde's hairs was fooling her.
"Quinn," she whispered, when she found enough self-control to stop kissing the pale neck, her hands buried somewhere between Quinn's hips and neck. "Quinn, are you s-sure?" Rachel wanted it so bad, but she wanted to make sure Quinn was okay with it.
"I-I'm sure, R-Rae." Quinn firmly said, and that was more than enough for Rachel, who kept kissing roughly but tenderly all the exposed skin she could find. The two of them fell on Rachel's bed, and Rachel climbed on top of Quinn.
From then on, she remained in place.
"You okay?" Rachel lowly said, lazily drawing imaginary patterns on Quinn's arm. The brunette was cuddled up against her naked girlfriend, and the two of them were snuggled under the blankets.
"G-great," Quinn murmured, placing a kiss on the top of Rachel's head. She was more than okay. She was feeling like she could climb a mountain. She had just made love with the girl she loved, and that was more than she could ever imagine.
Quinn's hands were tapping their usual little rhythm on Rachel's back, while she squeezed her in a tight hug.
"D-do you b-believe in s-soulmates, R-Rae?" Quinn asked gently, placing another kiss on the tiny diva's forehead.
Rachel tilted up her head, looking right into those hazel eyes she loved more than anything.
"I very much do, Quinn Fabray," she smiled, "And I'll tell you more, I think I'm looking into my soulmate eyes right now."
Quinn blushed and smiled.
"M-me too, R-Rae."
"Move in with me" Rachel practically blurted out. Her eyes went wide, because she didn't want to say it out loud, she really didn't. What if that made Quinn freak out? What if that made the blonde run away? Those two hazel eyes were blinking in amazement and confusion, and what did Rachel Berry do? She continued talking. What the hell, Rachel? "I mean, your sister is about to give birth, and you will be closer to the pool, and besides, I don't have any dog…"
Rachel was forced to shut up by Quinn's lips crashing on her own, silencing her with a sweet kiss.
"Y-yes" Quinn murmured.
"Yes?" Rachel repeated, blankly.
"Yes!" Quinn almost shouted, hugging Rachel tightly and rolling them over on the bed, in a vortices of laughter and squeals of joy. The next thing Rachel felt was a high pain in the arm, because the two of them, wrapped in the blankets, their arms and legs all around each other, fell on the pavement rudely.
They stared at each other for a second, then they busted into laughing.
