—1 year later

Chaos. Destruction. Turmoil. The villages was ravaged with havoc. But why? Then, she heard someone yell in the most blood-curdling scream,

"Kyuubi!"

Fumiko activated her Byakugan. To her horror, it was none other than the 9-tailed fox. She ran, as fast as she could, to get her and her baby sister to safety. Hanako, I promise I will protect you. There was falling debris everywhere, and suddenly, one the size of a boulder lay in free-fall, threatening to crush her and her baby sister. With one hand cradling her sister, and the other outstretched, she released a blast of chakra to strike the falling boulder. She moved as quickly as possible, in order to get her and her sister to safety. But another, smaller boulder, situated in the blind spot of her Byakugan, suddenly fell from behind. Fumiko noticed this a second too late, and was thus unable to clear herself from its path. Before it could hit, someone struck the boulder with large yet controlled blow of chakra from their palms. Gentle fist? So it must have been a fellow Hyuga.

"Father?"

"Hurry, get your sister to safety," he said.

Fumiko sat besides many unfamiliar people inside the shelter. She held her sister with great love and care and tried her best to comfort her. Her eyes, with one being the pale eyes of the Hyuga, and the other, an onyx color like her mother's; filled with tears. These were the same eyes that raised so much suspicion within her clan. Even if her mother was an outsider, she should have inherited the Byakugan in both her eyes. But, for some odd reason, she didn't.

She heard the whispers of many different voices.

"Have you heard?"

"Heard what."

"About the Hokage... I'm not sure if they're true, but there are rumors speculating."

"Rumors? What rumors?"

"Both the 4th Hokage and his wife might be—" The voice paused for a second. "I think they're dead."

Dead?

Fumiko's heart sunk as she heard this. Kushina and Minato? But there's no way—

She had already lost Obito and Rin the year before— she couldn't bear to lose anyone else. There was still an aching hole in her heart from losing her comrades. And later, the next morning after, her fears had been confirmed. The 3rd had officially announced that Kushina and Minato were killed during the attack.
