AN: Well then. I am here almost a year and a half later. And the story is now done. Funny story, I actually finished this story like 6 months ago but forgot to post it. So here's the final chapter if any gives a shit. This will probably be my last upload. I may come back and post some one shots here and there but too busy most of the time.

"Garchomp! Use Dragon Tail!" Garchomp surged forward, flexing his tail. Pure muscles rippled across steel scales as he whipped his tail in position.

"Extreme Speed." Greninja shimmered before disappearing, shocking both Cynthia and the crowd with the speed.

May gasped. She turned to Brock with confusion written all over her face.

"Brock, what's Extreme Speed?"

"It's when a pokemon's speed goes to the extreme." Brock answered back in a deadpan voice.

"What the-, where did he go?!" Cynthia's very knowledge of Pokémon was being tested to their limits with this battle. Nothing she saw was even possible. Or, at least she never thought it would be. How could Gray's Pokémon be so strong?

No time to think about that now. She had a battle to win. "Garchomp, Dig!"

Garchomp wasted no time burrowing into the dirt, throwing up a cloud of dirt in the process. Cynthia grinned. Garchomp had always been reliable. Her grin disappeared as she saw a blur appear next to the hole Garchomp had just dug.

What speed! She barely had time to think before Greninja was blasting a hydro pump down the massive cavernous expanse Garchomp had created. She looked across at Gray, and he raised an eyebrow.

"...you'd think a champion would have a better strategy!" He called mockingly. Cynthia cursed.

"Garchomp," She yelled, "Use extreme speed!" Garchomp should be able to match this Greninja.

Gray stared out at the hole thoughtfully, then lifted his hand.

"Greninja, surf." The sound of rushing water filled the stadium, but was nowhere to be seen. Just then, Garchomp made his appearance.

The dragon flew out of the hole, a jet stream shooting him into the air. With the surf carrying him, he couldn't escape to get the velocity Cynthia had ordered him to attain.

"Water Shuriken then Extreme Speed followed by Ice Punch." Greninja flung his hands behind him, a shuriken forming in his webbed fingers. He moved before he even threw the shuriken, appearing behind Garchomp as the water move slammed into the mach pokemon. Greninja shimmered, his fist coated in ice. Garchomp let out a roar as it braced itself for the super effective move.

"Counter!" Cynthia called out, hoping for the best.

Greninja's eyes widened as the ice punch slammed into Garchomp, blasting the massive form backwards. Almost as quickly, the hit pokemon rocketed back, whipping Gray's pokemon with its tail with a large BOOM.

Greninja came crashing down to earth with a sickly THUD, and Gray winced. That hadn't gone exactly according to plan. Garchomp landed on the ground, panting heavily. It had sustained heavy damage from the super effective moves.

Cynthia knew it was time. She shook her sleeve up, revealing a shiny mega stone clasped around her wrist in an ornately designed band with a champion logo emblazoned onto it. "Let's go Garchomp! Mega evolve, now!" She called, touching the stone with two of her fingers.

Garchomp roared mightily, power flowing through it instantly. It felt revitalized. Growing in size, its claws sharpened and grew, spikes sprouting all over. Lowering its head, it glared at Greninja evilly, sharpening its claws together.

Willow, watching from the stands, was impressed. Cynthia was holding her own, and this new form of her Garchomp's looked even stronger than the previous.

Gray gazed back passively before turning to his Greninja and nodding. In sync, a slight glow enveloped both of them, as Greninja's shape morphed slightly.

"WHAT'S THIS!? IS GRAY MEGA EVOLVING GRENINJA?! I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE!" The announcer said excitedly, sounding like he might need a new pair of pants after the match.

"Wait," Brock said with confusion evident in his voice. "Greninja doesn't have a mega form…" Serena, Bonnie, and Clemont gasped. They had seen this form before. In the Kalos League… with Ash.

Greninja, indeed, had changed form into Ash-Greninja. The crowd all gasped in unison, breaking out into equal parts admiration and confusion.

"Wha…?"

"Haven't I seen this?"

"Is this a new form?"

"What is this, a poorly written shonen anime?"

"I LOVE YOU GRAY!"

"He's a demon!"

Gray smirked. "Bring it on, Cynthia!"

Cynthia wasted no time. "Go, Garchomp! Use Dragon Rush!"

"ROOOOOAAAARRR." Garchomp rocketed forward at Mach speeds, almost unseen, as its powerful legs propelled it forward across the battlefield at Greninja.

Gray nodded, Greninja already sensing his master's command. The battle bond they shared was so deep that words were a waste of time.

Greninja moved, as Garchomp and him entered into a deadly dance. The crowd could barely see what was going on, as flashes of hits and light emitted from the center of the battlefield.

Cynthia grit her teeth. This was bad. It looked as if Gray didn't have to speak to communicate with Greninja anymore, robbing her of foresight. And what was with that form anyway? She had never seen anything like it.

"Hyper Beam!" Cynthia commanded after a brief hesitation.

"ASH!" Gray paused for a beat before he continued to walk. Willow glanced at him in confusion as she looked behind to see a pack of a dozen people running after them.

Red gave Gray a nod of respect, their pokeballs gripped in each trainers hands. As the two strongest trainers in the world faced off against each other, Gray, with Willow by his side, felt something. Gray-no, Ash realized that, for the first time in many years, he felt content.
