Chapter 13

"I called Callie." I say to Teddy. Teddy looked at me with a shocked look on her face.

"Really? How did that go?"

"It went fine. I guess. I had her meet me down at the coffee shop, so we could talk."

"And?"

"Well I got snippy with her a few times, but after that we were good. She's coming with me to the appointment."

A smile formed on my sister in laws face. "Arizona, I think that's great. You should let her be involved in this experience. I told you that you're not in this alone, and you're not. What else did guys talk about?"

"Nothing really. I did apologize for the way I had been treating her."

"See, I told you."

"Told me what?"

"I told you that you would come around."

"Just because we had a conversation over coffee, doesn't mean I'm coming around, Teddy." I snapped.

"But it's a start."

"Oh, let's not pop the champagne just yet." I snarked sarcastically.

"Arizona, come on. Stop with the snarky comments. I'm just saying, Ok. What you did, calling Callie, was a start. before you know, the two of you will be falling in love and walking down the isle."

"Whoa, there Teddy Bear." She hates when I call her that, but watching the dirty looks she throws at me makes me laugh. "No one said anything about falling love and walking down the isle."

"Not yet, but give it time." She smiles. "Why don't you invite her to dinner. After the appointment."

"No, you invite her." She gave me a look. "Ok Fine, I will invite her to dinner, Mom."

"God, you're unbelievable." She says to me, turning back to finish the dishes. I tried mocking her behind her back, but evidently she caught me, cuz next thing I know, I'm getting smacked upside the head.

"Ow, that hurt." I yell, rubbing the back of my head.

"Well good, next time, don't mock me."

"Oh, what you gonna do about if I do?" I ask sarcastically.

"I'll tell your brother." She says smacking me in the head again.

"Stop hitting me! and I'm not scared of my brother. If anyone should be scared of anybody in this house, he should be scared of me. I got raging hormones and I know how to use them." I laugh.

"Boy do you." Teddy snorted.

After Teddy and I finished the dishes, I went to my room to call Callie. It rang four times before she picked up.

"Hello?"

"Callie?"

"Yeah."

"Hey, it's Arizona."

"Oh, hey." she says, breathing heavily.

"Why do you sound like you're out of breath? Did I interrupt anything?"

"Oh, no. You're good. I left my phone in my room by accident, so I ran all the way up the stairs to answer it when I heard it going off. What's up?"

"I was just wondering if you wanted to come over for dinner tomorrow after the appointment was over?"

"Umm..yeah. Sure. That would be great. Do you want me to bring anything?"

"Just yourself."I tell her."Will 6 work?"

"Sounds perfect. I will see you tomorrow, Arizona. Bye."

"Bye."

"Alright, Callie, Arizona, you ready to see your baby?" Dr. Capshaw asks.

"Oh yeah." I hear Callie say. Dr. Capshaw grabbed the gel off the Ultrasound cart.

"Alright Arizona, if you could, please lift your shirt up for me." I lifted up my shirt as my Dr. said to do. "Now, just to warn you, this maybe a little cold." She placed the transducer down on my stomach and started moving it around. It only took a second before our baby popped up on the screen.

"Aww..there's." Dr. Capshaw says, pointing to the screen. "There's the little one. Ohh." She was a little surprised by the baby moving around as she was trying to find it. Definitely active." As Callie stared at the screen, her face lit up. She was smiling from ear to ear.

"Would you like to hear the heartbeat, Callie? I'm sure Arizona's has been hearing it quite a bit."

"Y-Y-Yeah, I'd love to." She stutters. Dr. Capshaw flipped the switch so Callie could hear the heartbeat. She was a little taken back by the swooshing sound that filled the room. "Oh..my god." Tears started to sting Callie's eyes, but were wiped away quickly before anyone could notice.

"Would you like to know the sex?"

"Yeah." "No" Was all that was said.

"I don't want to know the sex." I tell both Callie and Dr. Capshaw.

"Ok, then we won't know until it's time for him or her to come." Callie says taking my hand into hers. After switching off the screen, I immediately let go of Callie's hand to take the towel that was being handed to me to wipe the gel off my stomach.

"Ok, I'm going to print doubles, that way both you and Callie can have copies. Is that ok."

"Yeah, fine." I said, being a little short.

After scheduling the next appointment, which was on my 19th birthday, Callie and I walked out of the Drs. office.

"Oh my god, That was amazing." Callie says excitingly as we walked out to our cars. "I can't believe that was our baby. And the hearing the heart beat? That was incredible."

"Yeah." I say quietly.

"Thank you so much, Arizona. You know, for letting me be there with you today."

"Yeah." I say again. I'm not much for many words today and judging by the look Callie was giving me, she noticed too.

"What's wrong? Weren't you excited after seeing and hearing our baby's heart beat?"

"Yeah. I am." I tell her.

"You sure don't seem like it. I figured couples would be floating on.."

"Were not a couple, Callie." I snapped.

"I know we aren't, Arizona. I was just saying. What's gotten into you today?"

"I just don't feel well and I'm tired. I didn't get much sleep last night."

"Was it the morning sickness? Are you still getting that?"

"Yeah, I am. Not as much as I did in the beginning, but I still get it. But mainly during the night."

"Well, maybe you should go home and get some rest. I will see you tonight at dinner, right?"

"Yeah, fine." I say to her. Callie leaned in to give me a kiss on the cheek, but I stopped her before her lips made any kind of contact. "No, Callie. Please."

"Yeah, right. Umm..I will see you tonight at 6." She tells me, then turns to walk to her car.

I let out a long sigh before walking to my car.

"Arizona, wake up." came a voice. When I opened my eyes, I saw Teddy. I close my eyes again. This time Teddy gave me a shake to wake up.

"Stop shaking me, Teddy. Geez."

"I just wanted to let you know that Callie is here."

I just let out a groan. "Ok, I'll be out in a minute." Teddy stood up and walked out of the room.

After sitting up and rubbing my eyes, I finally got up and made my way out to join Teddy, Tim and Callie.

"Oh, hey, there she is."

"Yeah, I'm right here." I snarked. Tim just back off a bit.

"Here we go. The beast has officially woken." he says under his breath. Not sure if he expected me to hear him or not, but I definitely heard him. I just gave him the middle finger, then made my way to the coffee pot. When Tim realized that I was pouring my self a cup of coffee, he ran over and snatched my mug from me. "No, No. Zona, no coffee, it's not good for the baby."

Through gritted teeth, I look at my brother and said, "Tim, give me back my fucking mug, before I go out and find a brick and throw it at you." As I said that, I heard Teddy start laughing. I'm glad she fucking finds this funny, because I sure the hell don't. I need my coffee and I need it now.

Tim gave me back my mug and backed away.

At dinner, the table was completely silent. No one seemed to have much to say.

"How did the appointment go?" Tim asked, breaking the awkward silence.

"Fine." "Great." Callie and I both say.

"Callie, so how was it seeing your baby for the first time?"

"Oh god, it was amazing. My heart melted just seeing it. I nearly cried when I heard the heart beat.

"Awww." Tim and Teddy say together.

"That's so cute." Teddy says before turning her attention to Tim. "I hope that's how your reaction when we see our baby for the first time next week." My head flew in Teddy's direction.

"What?" I asked, looking between Teddy and Tim.

"Well, nice to see that you joined into the conversation, Arizona." Laughing at my reaction.

"Since when?"

"Oh, I'm not really pregnant, I just need to say something to get your attention."

"That's not funny." I tell her.

"Yeah it was, you should have seen the look on your face. It was priceless."

I gave my bestfriend a dirty look, "That was a dirty trick."

"Oh well." was all she said.

"Now, back to the topic we were on. Did you guys find out the sex today."

"No, Arizona didn't want to know, so I went along with her."

"You say that like it's a bad thing, Callie." I say, snapping at her. " If you really wanted to know, you could have asked the Dr. while I wasn't in the room." This conversation was now starting to heat up. I know it's ridiculous to pick a fight, but with the hormones lately, that's all I have been doing was picking fights with everyone.

"It's whatever you wanted, Arizona." Callie tells me. "You wanted to wait until we gave birth so we decided.."

"No, when I give birth. You're not the one that's pregnant, I am. So I'd be the one giving birth, not you." I shout, cutting her off.

She let's out a sigh, "Ok, fine. We decided to wait until after..you..give birth." pointing a finger a finger at me. "Are you happy."

"Ok, I think it's time to change the subject now." Teddy says, but I just ignore her.

"No, not really. I'm also not happy about the fact that you went along with me, and now sitting here practically saying that it was my fault that you didn't get to find out the sex."

"Arizona, I'm not blaming you. I'm sorry that you feel like I am." I don't say anything, I just cross my arms. "You look beautiful, by the way."

"Oh shut up." I say excusing myself from the table. As I made my way down the hall, I could hear them talking about me.

"How much longer is she going to be like this? Because this is over the top."

"Oh you think this this is bad, you should have seen her in the beginning. With the hormones mixed with everything else she had going on after your guys drunken encounter, it was bad. It was so bad, I did what I could to not piss her off. But I'll warn you now, you think this is bad, from what I read, it's only going to get worse from here. Especially since she still blames you."

"Stop taking about me. I can hear you. I'm not fucking def you know." I shout from my room.

"God, I'm so glad I can't get pregnant." Callie says after hearing my outburst.
