Doctor Kazato goes closer and Conan was protecting Ran as if not letting her out of his sight. Ran look at him in surprised and confused on how Conan desperately protecting her. Conan look at the lava river and see a boat coming, he was sure of their escape until suddenly Ran hold Conan's shoulder to get his attention
"Nee tell me.." asked Ran
"Hm?"
"Why are you going so far to protect me? Tell me… why?"
Conan was surprised by Ran's question but he just smirk and pull her away from the rock
"Because I love you!" shout Conan looking in front of him
"Eh?!"
"I love you more than anyone else on this Earth!" said Conan smirking to Ran
When Conan tell her the words, Ran didn't see him as Conan but he see it as Kudou Shinichi instead which surprised her. They both jump to the boat, Conan quickly told her to hold her breath and they dive inside the water to protect themselves from the shooting. After it seems to be save, both of them goes to the surface and hold to the boat
Conan look at the water that is bright red due to lava color which make his head spinning furiously. The images of his bloody hands and pool of blood near Shinichi that time attack his head which make his breathing and heartbeat become not normal. Ran was worried when Conan hold his head in pain due to flashing memories
"Conan-kun!" shout Ran worried
"It's fine… just my body giving me a bad time... We should hurry!" said Conan in low voice
The water lead them away to safety and they run away toward the place that Conan have been thinking. The plaza of water fountains
When they arrived to the plaza, Conan look at his watch to see there's only few seconds left but then he saw Doctor Kazato already near them. Conan quickly pull Ran away from getting hit by the bullets
"What do you say we end this chase Conan-kun? you have no more place to run after all" said Kazato provoking
Conan quickly pull Ran toward the center of the plaza but bad luck got him when the bullet hit his shoulder and make him fall.
"Conan-kun!" shout Ran
"Don't worry, just a scratched" said Conan in low voice while holding his shoulder
"There's no place to run, should we end this properly?" said Kazato smirking
"If you kill us now then Tomonari Makoto-san will be proven innocent, not to mention Shinichi-niichan still have that recording proof" said Conan to him
"That's right, I want to kill him before he went to police... But for that detective, I can work that out later on… At this time should be ladies first right?"
Doctor Kazato point his gun toward Ran while Conan start to countdown while looking his watch. Ran look at Conan but then images of Shinichi counting down as well flash to her mind so she start to countdown as well. As they shout one, the water arise from the water holes which protect them from him. The gun got into the water barrier which Ran surprised as she look at it and her memories about what happen at the hotel hit her
Flashback
The blackout happens and both girls heard someone running
"Sato-keiji! Are you alright?!" asked Shinichi who just barge inside the toilet and goes to the ladies
"Ah Kudou-kun, I'm fine… Let's head back to-"
"There's a flashlight here" said Ran while opening the cabinet
Shinichi was surprised to hear Ran's voice and when she take the flashlight, he quickly run toward her
"Ran! Turn it off!" shout Shinichi
"Eh?"
Suddenly gunshot was heard and hit directly to Sato. Ran shout Sato's name while Shinichi quickly shove the flashlight which make the shooter accidentally shot the tap which make the water comes out. Shinichi and Ran both got view of the shooter. Shinichi look that the shooter want to kill Ran and Shinichi quickly hug Ran protecting her
"Ran! Bend down!" shout Shinichi hugging her head
The shooter then instantly shots the bullet and got into Shinichi instead on his back and as he was hurt and faces the shooter, the shooter shot his left chest. Shinichi thrown to Ran and lost consciousness afterward
"Shinichi!" shout Ran
Back to present
Not only that memory but all of her memories start to comeback like a movie. Conan quickly take the empty can from Ran's bag which bring back Ran from her thoughts
"Stay away from me!" shout Conan
Conan quickly throw the can up and activate his shoes. As the water barrier is gone, Conan kick the can and directly hit Doctor Kazato's face. Conan sigh relief and quickly kick the gun away from Doctor Kazato, Ran was paces behind him and look at him
"Conan-kun…" said Ran in her usual soft voice
"Ran-neechan… do you-"
Suddenly Kazato hit Conan's face and tangled him to the ground with a knife in hand, as he was about to stab Conan, Ran kick the knife and make it split
"I remember everything now! I remember you shot Sato-keiji and Shinichi… and the fact I know Karate!"
"Wha-"
Before Kazato said anything, Ran already use her Karate to kick him away from their sight. Conan look at her in awe and Ran quickly go toward Conan
"Are you okay Conan-kun?!" asked Ran worried
"Um… Welcome back Ran-neechan" said Conan smiling
Ran can't help to hug her little knight that just protect her with his life. Conan hug her back and glad that Ran remember everything. Suddenly police sirens can be heard and Ran's parents, Sonoko, Detective boys run toward the plaza
"Ran!" shout both Kogoro and Eri
Ran let go of Conan and faces her parents with a smile
"Mom… dad!" said Ran happily
"Ran… did you-" "remember everything?!" asked the parents happily as their daughter finally recovered her memories
"What about me?!" asked Sonoko
"Of course, Suzuki Sonoko, my best friend for life!" said Ran smiling to her best friend
"Ran… I'm glad!" shout Sonoko while hugging her
Takagi then handcuffed Doctor Kazato and Kogoro glare at him. Ayumi, Genta and Mitsuhiko shout at Conan for solving the case alone again which Conan can't help to laugh by their annoyance. Ayumi notice that Conan's cheek is bleeding but Haibara quickly give her handkerchief to him. Haibara look closely to his shoulder and surprised
"Edogawa-kun your shoulder?!" asked Haibara surprised
"Ah? I will get it bandage later" said Conan while rubbing his wounded cheek
"But still, what was that about protecting Ran with your life in the line? The one who did it are Professor Agasa and Conan-kun" said Eri to her husband
"Eh well… well anyway! Glad everything is alright HAHAHA!" shout Kogoro
Ran goes to Conan and look to him in soft smile
"Thank you Conan-kun, you also tell me those words when you hear my mom to help me remember right?" asked Ran smiling
"Ah you mean that, yes since I also overheard it hehe" said Conan
"What words?" asked Eri to both of them
"Conan trying to make me remember so he tell the words that dad use to propose to you mom"
"Ah that's!"
Eri and Kogoro blush when Ran said it while Conan just look away which only Haibara who sees it
"I can't tell her right... That's actually happen to be the words that Shinichi-niichan want to say to Ran-neechan" thought Conan smirking
Flashback
Both Shinichi and Conan are in the library together. Shinichi is reading Sherlock Holmes book while Conan is reading Detective Samonji book. Conan is sitting on Shinichi's lap so Shinichi read his book sideways so that Conan is comfortable reading his book
"Nee Niichan, if you could tell your feelings to Ran-neechan, what will you do?" asked Conan looking at his brother
Shinichi was surprised by sudden question. He tried to hide his blushing with the book but Conan know that he's blushing. Shinichi look the other way but still covering most of his face with the book
"Maybe tell her that... I love you, more than anyone on Earth... I think" said Shinichi
"Cheesy..." said Conan smirking
Shinichi didn't like the reaction so he put the book on the table and rub Conan's head in slight anger. Conan just laugh at his brother's reaction
Back to present
Conan look at Haibara who seems just give a small smile but still with her usual cold look face, Conan just smile to her
"If I want to say those words... I would tell that to her" thought Conan keeping it for himself
Suddenly Inspector Shiratori got a call and he was happy when heard about the news
"Everyone! Sato-san is conscious again! There's no need to worry anymore" shout Inspector Shiratori happily
After hearing it many polices start to take off their hats and throw it as a celebration. Conan who hears it glad but then he remember his brother
"Keibu! What about-"
Before Conan finish his sentence, suddenly his phone rings and shows an unknown number. He was confused but he answered and to his surprised he heard the voice that he missed the most ever since he touch the case
"Good work little detective" said the person on the phone
It was his big brother, Kudou Shinichi
"No way… Niichan… is it?" said Conan to the phone
"It seems you solved the case huh, Congratulations" said Shinichi with a proud voice
"I'm glad… you finally wake up…"
Conan fell to the floor and sigh relief hearing it. The others was surprised until Inspector Shiratori receive another report that Shinichi also regain conscious to which make Ran cry in relief hearing it
"You… YOU BETTER STAY THIS TIME!" shout Conan as he shut the phone off and he run off from the plaza
"Wait Conan-kun!" shout Ran, Eri, Detective boys
Conan didn't bother to hear and run toward the exit and call the taxi to take him to the hospital in top speed
Time Skip~
At Beika Central Hospital
Conan run with all his might to his brother's room and he sees the police detective who guard his room. The police detective quickly open the door for Conan and he sees it. Kudou Shinichi sitting up and look at him in proud look
"Niichan…"
"Hey there little detective, congratulations for-"
Conan didn't take chances and hug him, he also try his best not to get into his chest wound. Shinichi give in and hug his little brother back. Conan was shivering and relief all his heart seeing Shinichi already wake up
"You promise not to scare me again but you lied" said Conan still hugging and putting his head on Shinichi's shoulder
"Sorry, kind of didn't expect this to happen either"
"BAKA!"
Seconds later, Ran, Sonoko, Eri and Kogoro comes in and see that Shinichi did regain consciousness. Conan let go and give room for Ran to hug him to which Ran gladly take it
"Shinichi! I'm glad, you're alright" said Ran crying while hugging Shinichi
"Ran… it's alright-"
"No it is not! I even lose my memories due to that!"
"Eh really?!"
Shinichi look at Conan, Sonoko and Ran's parents who nod to him to answer. Eri walk toward beside Shinichi and look at him in proud smile
"Thank you Shinichi-kun, Conan-kun… for protecting Ran from the culprit" said Eri thanking him
"But you still make her get amnesia- EKH!" said Kogoro but interrupted when Eri hit him
"What are you saying dear?!"
The couple start to argue to which Shinichi, Ran, Conan and Sonoko can't help to giggle. Ran then carry Conan to sit right beside Shinichi to see his big brother
"It was a mess Shinichi-kun, this brat even lied to Ran that you are on the case so that she didn't trigger all her memories" said Sonoko
"I'm sorry Conan-kun, forcing you to lie, it must been hard right" said Ran looking at the boy
"Hahahaha well can't be helped" said Conan slight laughing
"Okay can anyone please tell me from beginning, I just woke up you know"
Sonoko told him everything from the start Ran gets Amnesia, Conan tell him about how he find out the culprit but one thing that Shinichi is surprised, the fact that Conan is protecting Ran inside Tropical Land
"You… protect Ran in Tropical Land?" asked Shinichi worried
"Um…" said Conan in low voice
"Are you okay? I mean you know…"
Conan seems hesitated to answer because there's Ran near them. Ran then remember what happen when they were running from Doctor Kazato and start to worry since almost every time Conan would touch his head in pain and his breathing are not normal
"Conan-kun…?" asked Ran worried
"Well I kind of got panic attack before I went inside but then I just go with it… "
"I think the brat cure his trauma in desperate to protect Ran" said Sonoko looking at Conan
Shinichi still not sure about it since he know his brother's trauma is not easy to be cured in a flash like that. But what he also surprised that Conan drove a boat
"Let me guess, you look when dad teaching me at Hawaii?" asked Shinichi
"Hehehehe" laugh Conan
"Geez, learning in second as usual this boy"
"Shut up… I barely did it okay"
"I was really surprised you know! Conan-kun drive a boat like a pro!" said Ran
"Well that time my Conan will always beside us when dad teach me" said Shinichi laughing
"How about a boat race later when you get better?" asked Conan smirking
"With pleasure!"
The others laugh at the brothers and can't help to be glad that everything is alright now. They all look at the time which is very late so they are now going home except of course Conan who stay by his side. Eri was worried but Shinichi tell her that it will be okay since he already woke up. With that all of them excuse themselves and leave. Moments later as Shinichi was sure that everyone is not near his room, he take the call button
"Now, time to call the nurse" said Shinichi while pressing the call button
"Eh?" asked Conan surprised
"Do you think I don't know, your shoulder is bleeding under your shirt. If you leave it any longer, it will get infection"
Conan look at his left shoulder and he forgot that he's bleeding due to Doctor Kazato shot his shoulder. Moments later, the doctor comes in and take care Conan's wound on his shoulder and his cheek
"You sure have a great little brother Kudou-san" said the doctor smiling
"What do you mean doctor?" asked Shinichi
"This little guy visit you everyday, in your first week in Coma, he even sleep by your side…"
"That's enough doctor, you don't have tell him everything" said Conan looking away with a slight blush
Shinichi just smile to him since he knows that he will do it just like year ago. After the doctor leave, Conan sit on the chair while looking at Shinichi. Shinichi then harshly take the boy and put him on his right side. Luckily the bullet wound was near his left chest so Conan will be alright and not hurt his wound
"Oi oi! You are still sick!" shout Conan unhappy
"It's alright, I'm not the only one who's sick after all" said Shinichi serious
"What do you-"
"It's hard right… to go inside that place? Without me or dad around…"
Conan eyes shot up looking at his big brother, he look down which Shinichi take it as a yes. He quickly put Conan's head on his stomach and hug him
"Sshh it's just me here, let it out…" said Shinichi softly
"Ukh… I'm scared… Every time I see that rollercoaster and Ferris wheel… Every seconds I run with Ran-neechan, I will always remember it! It was very hard!" said Conan while squeezing Shinichi's hospital clothes
"You are very brave Conan… you have done well protecting Ran, thank you for your hard work my little Holmes"
"Niichan… thank you for waking up"
Both of them didn't know that there's people who heard the brothers comfort outside the room, which to be Inspector Megure and Takagi who happen to visit Shinichi as well as Sato
"I think we can visit him tomorrow" said Inspector Megure
"Yeah… you're right keibu" said Takagi
With that the polices leave them and Kudou Brothers are now asleep together on the hospital bed
The next day
Ran, Kogoro, Eri are on their way to Shinichi's room. As they about to go in, they are surprised to see someone talking with both of them. They didn't make any sound and just overhear it
"Hmmm… it seems you're already fine after what happen Conan-kun… Maybe it is possible for you to overcome your trauma but then again… It's very hard to know accurately" said the person which to be a doctor
"But doctor, is it possible? I mean, he said himself that his head feels like explode every seconds when he's inside that amusement park" said Shinichi worried
"Yes… it seems he force himself not to let that pain got into him, may I ask what are you thinking that time which make you can hold that pain?"
"I… don't know, but I know for sure that if focus on my pain, in seconds, that culprit can kill Ran-neechan" said Conan in serious voice
"I see… but I warn you Conan-kun, if you did that again, you may have serious mental injury in the future. I suggest you not to force yourself to go there again until you are really ready, he's fine with other amusement parks right Kudou-san?" asked the doctor to Shinichi
"Yes, one time we try visit Miracle Land and he seems to be okay there. Only that one amusement park trigger his trauma"
"Well we can agree that his brain only remember the structure inside that amusement park. So he still can go to amusement parks like normal kids do except that one. I think that's all for the examination, please check on me again if something like this happen again"
"I see... thank you doctor" said Conan bowing
"Thank you doctor" said Shinichi glad
The doctor excuse himself and he was surprised to see three people in front of the door. They then let the doctor leave, three of them just stay there until a good time to greet them
"Luckily is not too bad" said Shinichi to his little brother
"Well sorry…" said Conan looking away
"You really got me worried when Ran said that you are at that place… I'm just glad you're not that hurt"
"Hahahah I have no choice... when I know for sure that the culprit is after Ran-neechan inside there"
"Well I'm also glad that you manage to protect Ran, you are really a reckless yet genius brother!"
Shinichi then play Conan's cheek which he didn't like it. Three of them certain that this is the right time to get out of hiding and greet them properly. Conan was surprised by their appearance but Shinichi seems not really surprised. Three of them notice that Conan is sitting right next to Shinichi on his bed
"Ran-neechan? Ojisan and Eri-Obaasan?" asked Conan surprised
"Hello there you two, we were thinking to visit you and give Conan his clothes since I'm sure he will be staying until Shinichi's checkout" said Eri while putting a bag on the chair near the window
Shinichi notice that Ran seems look sad and guilty. He know that Ran and her parents overheard everything from the doctor until their talk
"You overheard Conan's checkup?" asked Shinichi which surprised Conan
"Yeah… I'm very sorry Conan-kun, because of me you-" said Ran while holding Conan's shoulder
"Ran-neechan, it's fine… luckily it's not that bad, but yeah I have to be careful from now on" said Conan
"But…"
"Don't worry Ran, I will also make sure that. You can help me taking care of him for not doing anything reckless" said Shinichi while holding his brother's head
"Oh I will, after what Conan-kun did for me" said Ran serious
"Why am I having a bad feeling about this?" thought Conan which can only be heard by Shinichi
Kogoro seems want to do something but he hold himself. Eri sense it and just smile to her husband, she gets up and touch Ran's shoulder
"Ran, let's go buy food and drink for Conan-kun. I'm sure he haven't eat since morning" said Eri
"Hahaha… Eri-obaasan got me" laugh Conan
"Okay… you two better behave"
"Yeah yeah" said Shinichi unhappy
After both Ran and Eri goes out from the room leaving only boys inside. Kogoro stands up and goes beside both of them
"Ojiisan?" asked Conan surprised
"Um… how can I say it… ukh… thank you… you two… for protecting Ran" said Kogoro while looking away
Shinichi and Conan were surprised and look at each other. They just smile to Kogoro
"You're welcome Ojiisan!" said Conan smiling brightly
"It's not problem Mouri-tantei" said Shinichi
"Don't misunderstood! I will not let you take Ran!" said Kogoro to the high schooler
"Wha?! I'm not thinking that!"
Conan giggle as he heard it and both Kogoro and Shinichi just argue about it. Conan look at them and just smile
"No one will be able to see if this is gonna be a fight between future father in law and son in law" thought Conan giggle
He didn't know that Shinichi actually heard it and blushing very red and grab the boy's head
"No it is not!" said Shinichi as he rub his hair
"I'm sorry I'm sorry! Let me go!"
The rest of the day was fill with shouting and laughter, Conan just glad that everything went well and sure that his big brother will get better soon so they can go back home and back to their normal routines
