*This chapter skips ahead about 6 months*
Andy has been back to work for about 2 months now. Due to the windstorm that was currently happening she had to bring Ashton to the station because she didn't want to leave him home with the babysitter during the storm. It's not that she doesn't trust the babysitter she would just prefer to have him with her. Her and Robert were on aid car today so if they had to leave someone would have to watch him.
"Dad, what are you doing here?" Andy asked as she walked through the beanery doors, Ashton's car seat in her hand.
"Well I heard about the windstorm on the news so I decided to come to the station to be with family but I sure didn't expect to see my favorite grandson here today" he said, getting out another mug so he could pour Andy some coffee.
"I didn't want to leave him home today with the storm and all. Also when I woke him up he was sweating so I checked his temperature and he was running a fever but I called Dr.Grey and she said that it was normal for them to do that while teething. So I'm just going to set him in Robert's office with a baby monitor so I can hear him." she said. "Where's the team?"
"They are changing." he said.
"Ok well I'm going to go change and set up his play pen in Robert's office and then I will be back." she said.
"Ok." he said.
"Andy he looks so big." Vic said, picking up Ashton from his car seat.
"I know he is and I'm pretty sure he just started teething." she said.
"What!" she said, shocked by what she just said.
"Yep." she said, grabbing his bag and walking out of her bunk down to Robert's office.
*Knock knock*
"Come in." he said.
"Hey, I have Ash's stuff so where do you want me to place his play pen?" she asked.
"Ummm come put it back here." he said, moving a box from the corner beside his desk. "Where is he anyway?"
"Vic has him upstairs. I hope we don't get to many calls today but I guess if we do I can ask my dad to watch him." she said.
"Wait your dads here?" he asked.
"Yeah. He said he wanted to come to the station and be around family." she said. "I'll be right back, I'm going to get Ash."
"There's my boy." Robert said as Andy walked back into his office.
"I called Meredith earlier and asked her about Ash because he was running a fever earlier. She said that fevers and fussiness are common when they are teething and he has been extra fussy lately so I think he is starting to teeth." she said, handing him over to Robert.
"Mom and dad are coming back from LA tomorrow and said they are going to stop by the house. They also said that they would stop and pick up food on the way over so we don't have to worry about making anything." he said.
"They've been gone for what 2 or 3 months now. What did they go up their for?" she asked.
"This year marks their 40th anniversary so my dad planned the trip, with some of my help of course, and surprising her with it." he said.
"One week we should ask them to watch him for us so we can take a trip." she said.
"But where would we go?" he asked, placing Ashton in the play pen.
"Umm I don't know. I haven't thought that far ahead yet. Plus I wouldn't want to be away for more than 3 days since he is so young." she said.
"We could drive up to the mountains and rent a cabin." he said.
"That sounds nice." she said.
"When do you want to-" he was saying as he got cut off by the alarm.
AID CAR 19, REPORTED CAR ACCIDENT
"I'm going to run the baby monitor up to the beanery and I will be right back." she said, rushing out his office.
Andy handed her dad the monitor and told him that the baby was downstairs in Robert's office. They rushed out the barn and to the car accident. When they reached the sight, they saw one and their victim was on the ground.
"Hi we are from the fire department. Can you tell me your name?" Andy asked as they reached the patient.
"I'm Shannon." she said.
"Ok Shannon, I'm Andy and that's Robert. Can you tell us what happened." she said.
"I was just driving and this car came out of no where." she said.
"The winds are to strong out here. We need to get her back to the aid car so we can work on her." he said.
"Ok yeah. Lets get her on the board and lets go." she said.
"Wait my purse is in my car. I need it in case anything happens to me." Shannon said as they put her in the aid car.
"Ok stay here with her and I will go get it." Robert said, climbing out.
"So whats wrong with her?" he asked as he got back into the rig.
"She has blood pooling under her skin, I'm going to have to cut it open." Andy said.
"What! No no no you can't cut open my leg." she said.
"Shannon its either we do it or you loose the leg." she said.
"I'll get you some morphine so you don't feel it as bad." he said, reaching into a cabinet and giving her some.
They were trying to communicate with dispatch but all they were getting was static.
"Is this thing moving." Andy asked, looking over at Robert with a panicked face.
"We have to get out of here." he said.
"Yeah." she said. "If anyone can hear us, this is aid 19 we are heading to Rainier First hospital."
They were driving. Then we were sliding and going over the edge of the cliff.
They sat down there for hours. Their patient had died. Robert had a broken leg and the Andy thought she might have a slight concussion. They thought they were gonna be stuck down there forever, that this was how they die, down in a ravine.
"Robert, if...if no one finds us, I want you to know that I love you very much and I'm sorry I couldn't get help to us." she said, kissing his lips.
"Andy they are going to find us. Someone will notice that we never arrived to the hospital and someone will come and find us. I love you too." he said, reaching up and caressing her cheek.
"Aid car 19, hold your position we are coming down to help you." they heard Maya say.
"You did it Andy. You got help to us." he said.
"Not in time." she said.
The whole time they were in the helicopter Andy was holding Robert's hand and occasionally rubbing his cheek.
"Mer I need to see my husband and my son." Andy said, trying to get up as Dr.Shepherd checked her head.
"Ok Andy I know that. We are going to call your dad and he is going to come down here. For now relax. Your husband is in good hands. So let Amelia check you out." she said, resting her hands on Andy's shoulders.
"Well it looks like you have a small concussion so I want you to stay home for a week so it will heal properly." Shepherd said.
"And what about my husband?" she asked.
"He only has a broken leg so I can take you to see him if you'd like." she said.
"Ok. Thank you." she said, standing and following Amelia to trauma room 1.
"Hey baby.What'd they tell you?" he asked, seeing her walk in.
"Well I just have a small concussion so I'll have to take a week off of work." she said, walking over to him. "Do you know when you're getting released?"
"Well they said that ortho is a little backed up so they will move me to a room and come and put a cast on my leg as soon as possible." he said.
"Hi umm I'm looking for my daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Robert Sullivan." Pruitt said to the nurse, while trying to get Ashton to stop crying.
"Well I don't an Andrea but Robert is in room 1583." the nurse said.
"Thank you." he said, turning and heading towards the elevator.
"Are you ok? What happened? I was at the station and then the team gets back from a call and asks if I've heard what's happened to y'all." Pruitt said, walking into the room, Ashton still in his arms crying.
"Here dad, give him to me." Andy said, lifting the baby out of his arms as she started to rock him and calm him down. "We are fine. I have a small concussion and Rob has a broken leg."
"I'm just waiting for them to come put a cast on and then we can go home." he said, scooting over slightly so Andy could sit in the bed with him.
"Robert I can't believe you didn't call me when you got into a accident." Katlin said, walking into the hospital room.
"What- Mom who called you?" he asked.
"Pruitt did. He said he was on his way to the hospital to see you guys and asked if I was coming down." she said, crossing her arms.
"I'm sorry mom. Andy and I were both worried about each other and didn't think to call anyone." he said.
"What happened anyway?" she asked.
"Well we were on an aid car call and we were taking our patient to the hospital when the winds got bad. Next thing we know the aid car is down in a ravine." Andy said.
They had to wait about 3 hours until someone came and put Robert's cast. Katlin drove Andy and Robert home because Ripley asked Pruitt to take over as interim captain until Sullivan was back. When they got home they both got into bed and fell asleep, snuggled together with Robert's arm around Andy and the other holding Ashton.
