Chapter 12
As I sat on the train with Haruka, I held hands with her, feeling anxious. I knew that her grandmother would probably be disappointed, but I knew it was the right thing for me to have come with her.
The town she was from, was absolutely gorgeous. Massive fields of pink, white, and hot pink Chintatsu.
When I looked at Haruka's face, she looked like a little kid as she eyed the flowers.
"You know, even the last time I came to this place, the beauty of it always astonishes me."
She nodded, moving my hand to her mouth to place a kiss on it.
"It truly is beautiful. Maybe... when our baby is born, we can bring it here."
I felt a deep warmth within my heart.
It was so warm and it made me feel so jubilant.
I couldn't help but to picture her, with a big round tummy, pregnant with my child.
She looked at me, a wide smile on her face. "So, as of right now, what do gender do you think it will be?"
Pursing my lips, I hummed as we got closer to the train station.
"I don't know... I feel like it is a girl, just a hunch."
Haruka nodded, placing a hand on her stomach.
As quickly as happiness came to her face, so did worry.
"What's wrong, little lamb?"
She shook her head, looking at her hands.
"I just hope my grandmother will be understanding... that she will have advice for me."
I understood her worry. After we were to go see her grandmother... I was going to be going back home, going to Haruka's first appointment and then... we would be bringing the evidence to my family. There was intense worry, but I knew that if Haruka was too stressed, it could lead to a miscarriage, and that was the last thing I wanted.
"Attention passengers, we are about to make our next stop. Please exit carefully." The driver said, slowly coming to a halt. Haruka stood up, holding my hand as I grabbed out bags.
As we walked off of the train, I was overwhelmed by an amazing smell.
Not only was it the flowers, but there was a teahouse right by the stop. It smelled like pork steamed buns.
I smiled wide.
"Oh that smells lovely. Does the baby agree with the smell? Or are you still feeling sick?"
Haruka nodded.
"I do still feel nauseous... but you can get some if you want."
I shook my head. "We can always come back little lamb." I winked.
As we continued, it took about 10 minutes for the bus to arrive, for us to get to her grandmother's home.
I found myself so blown away by the beauty of the area. It was so quiet and peaceful.
Haruka was blank faced, her expression seeming unsure.
I walked next to her, as she carefully held her stomach, I could see the fear, hear it in her voice.
The last time I'd met her grandmother, she was such a kind and understanding woman. Would she really be angry at Haruka for this?
Looking at her empty hand, I moved closer and took her hand tightly into mine.
Haruka looked up at me, her eyes looking glossy, tears coating her beautiful golden eyes.
Nodding, i brought her hand close, placing a gentle kiss on her warm pale skin.
As the bus arrived, we boarded, taking our seats.
Mindfully, I moved my hand to her abdomen, not much had changed, but the firmness of her lower abdomen definitely had.
I pulled her to me, for her to lean further into me.
"Haruka, it will all be okay. Please, I'm sure that your grandmother will be so happy to know."
"She will be disappointed with me, for sure."
Turning towards her, I smiled once again, tucking a loose section of hair behind her ear.
"You'll have me. Don't worry. We'll figure this out."
Nodding, she smiled, almost as if my words had given her a large boost of confidence.
Sitting quietly, we listened for our stop.
Haruka didn't need to listen for it after all though, she knew exactly where to get off.
Staring ahead of us, we saw a large vegetable farm and her grandmother's home, such a peaceful and serene structure in the middle of a small peaceful town.
Seeing an elderly woman in the field, she looked up.
Almost immediately I recognized the woman, it was her grandmother.
"Haruka!" She cheered, moving as quickly as she could to get to us.
Meeting her halfway, she gained a tight hug from Haruka, seeming shocked that I was alone with her.
As the woman was excitedly inviting us in, I could feel it, I just had a feeling that everything could very easily be okay!
