Chapter 13: Aftermath and the Beginning
So in the end, everything worked out. Francesca, who had continued to give Cassie the cold shoulder, eventually warmed up to her. Everyone had some bumps and bruises from the battle, but there were a few major injuries.
I had gotten a concussion and a sprained wrist. Yakko had indeed gotten a 3rd degree burn, and we didn't know for sure if the fur would grow back. Nonetheless, he came through in good spirits. We all did. Wakko's cut was nicely healing, although it was possible he might still get a scar. He hoped he would, because he thought it would make him look tough. Dot had her bruised jaw. Francesca had gotten a broken foot and a concussion. Pinky had broken his leg. Squit had gotten a broken wing. But there were no fatalities, luckily.
And there was more good news. Brain's antidote had worked beautifully, and Francesca was living with her Mom again. We had reporters lining up around the block at my house. I had finally told my parents about my visions and the battle, and they were great about it. And through it all, me and my friends had stuck together. We had sleepovers every single night for a solid month after the battle, and even after, we still had them frequently. We were all famous now, both in the toon world and outside of it. Cassie was now living with the Warners.
One sunny day in Burbank, I decided to take a walk. I ended up at the park where the Goodfeathers liked to hang out, and sure enough, I ran into them.
"Hey, sister," Bobby greeted me and flew over to land on my head. Likewise, Pesto and Squit flew to my shoulders.
"Hi, guys. How's your wing, Squit?"
Squit cooed. "Just peachy."
Just then, a squat pigeon waddled up to us. Bobby gasped.
"The Godpigeon!"
He and the other Goodfeathers rushed over to the Godpigeon to kiss his feet.
"Eh, beezjie eka bur!" wheezed the Godpigeon, speaking his usual gibberish.
"The Godpigeon Sully says, 'Congratulations on the battle,'" translated Bobby.
"Meh yut erra weker." continued the Godpigeon, patting Pesto on the shoulder.
Bobby snickered. "He says, 'you'll be great in the reboot.'" he snickered again. "'Don't take it out on Squit.'"
Pesto turned bright red.
Now the Godpigeon turned to me.
"Eh, meloo tupstut gajur?" he questioned.
I looked at Bobby. "He wants to know how Cassie is doing." he informed me. I smiled.
"Oh, she's good."
The Godpigeon seemed satisfied. I decided I should probably get back to the water tower, so I said goodbye.
My friends were waiting for me. I smiled as I looked at them all.
Yakko, Wakko, Dot, Francesca. Skippy, Pinky, Brain, Cassie. I wasn't sure what adventures awaited us, but I knew as long as they were with me, we could overcome any obstacle.
I climbed up the ladder and went inside. My friends followed me. I picked up my Chromebook and signed in, opening Google Docs. I smiled at all of my friends and began to write. It was a bright sunny day in Burbank, California…
The End
Aww... I just love happy endings, don't you? A sequel is being written, and I will upload some of it either today or tomorrow. Goodnight everybody!
