Chapter thirty: Through The Looking Glass One More Time

(Lindsey pov)

We stood waiting to go home. Maybell took Mark home to catch up and Hatter went with her and he'd race back here once they were settled in.

Nadia was ready to see us off.

Chris or Ana, she was smiling but I knew she was sad to see us go.

"Alice." Jack called her name and she and Jack talked. I ignored most of the conversation as Ana came over to me. "You'll be missed." I said.

"I know. Here. The key to mine and Jack's place. I know Alice never went, but I want you to have it. Just in case. I have extra's okay."

"Do I call you Ana or Chris or..."

"Chris is fine. That actually is my real name. Ana was the name Duchess family gave me." She said.

"Really?"

"Yeah. Call me Chris. That way I know I have another home to come to." She said.

"You and Jack take care." I said hugging her.

"Will you be my queen Alice?"

I pulled away ready to snap at Jack for even thinking that would ever happen after all this, but Alice shook her head. "No Jack. I've changed. I'm not the same person anymore." Alice refused a whole kingdom on a crazy world, and because she changed. Well, her father's dead, so now she has to move on with he life.

"Goodbye Jack." Alice hugged him.

"Bye Jack. I still don't trust you." I said shaking his hand.

I saw Hatter by the door as Jack walked away.

He was heading for the door.

"Would you at least do me the honor of restarting the looking glass?" Jack asked.

"Okay. What do I do?" Alice asked.

I ran to Hatter. "Where do you think you're going? Say goodbye to us silly." I said.

"Hatter!" The looking glass was warming up and Alice caught Hatter before he could leave.

"Alice." He made his way to her and I was behind him then stood next to Alice. "I was..I was afraid I'd missed you both."

"Yeah, well, your cutting it close." Alice said.

"Too close." I added.

"I guess I wasn't trying to think about it. Anyways, I wanted to say, goodbye."

Alice seemed confused. "Goodbye?"

"And if you, ever fancy coming back..." Hatter seemed lost for words.

"Do you want us to stay?" I asked him.

"Hell no!" He chuckled. I didn't think so, but with what the princess told Alice and me, we could have a life here. In wonderland. Nothing but adventure after another. I did read that book a lot as a child.

"No, you should go home. Both of you." Hatter added looking at me.

"Yeah." Alice seemed to understand him. "I've had enough of wonderland for a lifetime."

"Oh come on! I could stay here if I wanted to." I said crossing my arms. "Think about it. If we stay here, we'll live longer...no. Your right. We have to go home. Who'll take care of Carol?" I asked.

Alice laughed at my grinning face. "Your turning into the cat."

I frowned. "Not the creepy cat!" The one thing I hated about wonderland was the cat. Always gave me nightmares.

"Yeah, we still had good times. Had a laugh."

"And obviously among all the bad times." Alice added to Hatters words.

"Too bad. This has to come to an end." I sighed.

It was a long awkward silence between the three of us for a while before Alice handed Hatter back his coat. I took mine off as well. "Thank you for...the coats." I said.

"You didn't have to...Brilliant!" He said.

Then came the awkward hug Alice and Hatter shared. "You know, you could always visit my world." Alice said. "You might like it there."

"Yeah." Hatter grinned at her offer. "We could, we could do pizza." He said laughing.

"And other things." Alice mumbled.

"Yeah, like movies, and ice cream. I bet we could travel the world like crazy trying all the tea!" I said with excitement.

"Sounds like an adventure to take." Hatter laughed.

"Alice. Please."

"Really? i was just..." But Hatter never finished As Alice was taken to the mirror.

I quickly did what I had to so I didn't get left behind.

I kissed Hatters cheek. "Thank you for everything. And fyi, I'm not really scared of horses and boats. Just...with another guy I get nervous and...it's part of being a teenager with, insecurities. It never goes away. But...thanks to you, I think I can face them." I told him.

"Your...welcome?" Hatter didn't know what to say but that.

As I walked up to meet with Alice...He seemed to finally get what I was saying. "Wait! Lindsey!"

"Come find us in the city one day!" I shouted and jumped in after Alice was pushed.

With the colorful tunnel, the end seemed long. Hard to breath, but when it was over, we were blacked out. We had left wonderland, and everyone behind.

(Chris pov)

"She's gone." Jack said.

I turned and saw Hatter sad. "Do you want to go in after them?" I asked.

"Nah! I'm fine." And he just left. I looked to Nadia who seemed shocked.

"What's up with you?"

"Something...I don't know. If Maybell, brought her man back from the dead, with the power of her love for him. And Linsey, she protected Alice, because of her love for her sister. What is the power for us to discover? If Maybell has it, why don't we?"

"I'm sure one day, we will." I told her.

"Say, did something seem off about Hatter?" Jack asked.

"You did know who he was. And you really were jealous of him with Alice."

"Well, from that, it looked like-"

"Lindsey? I know. I don't think he or the both of them really know what's going on. And if they do, they don't want to say anything because of the other." I explained.

"Sounds complicated. Like you and Duchess." Jack pointed out.

"You saw that?"

"Please. I saw right from the start, since I know you best, you've always liked me." Jack said.

"And you've never said anything? Wow. Okay. You've got your wish. We stopped your mother, Alice...her father was awaken, but he died sadly. But, she came here and helped bring everything to a close." I said.

"Let's get the rest home than." He said.

I nodded. After we'd get them all home, we'd start building again.

"Do you think we should...go back? With the real princess of wonderland here, don't you think we could...still live our lives in the real world?" Jack asked me.

"You still want Alice don't you?" I asked teasingly. "If she won't take the ring to be queen, then...find a away for her to be a normal wife. Jack. Think about this. Is this really what you and Alice want?" I asked him.

He didn't answer. But I'm sure he did know in his heart.

(Maybell pov)

With Mark asleep, I was happy to have my life and him back. It could begin like the old days once again.

"David?" I saw David in his chair with a frown on his face. "You didn't go after the girl did you?" I asked him.

"Nope. They belong in their world." He said.

"David Matthews Hatter!" I shouted slamming the cup I held on the table behind him. He jumped out of his seat with a shock. "You should know what this is. Your feeling what Mark and I have. Love! For crying out loud go after the girl? Do you think this happens more then once? I mean it can, but with a woman so perfect like that? You've got to be really MAD to let her go!" I yelled at him.

I took a breath. "Now, are you going to get her? Or are you going to wait around and see if she'll come back here to you?" I asked.

Hatter sighed and sat back down in his chair. "I don't know."

"Till you do know what's in your heart, you better be ready to jump into action." I told him.
