Series 3, Episode 7, pt 1 ~ House of Pi
The speed at which Alfie, Camilla and Fabian scrambled up the stairs towards Victor's office. In fact, the three were so busy rushing off to see the man on his 'date' with Trudy that Fabian had even forgotten to put down his guitar, so it was on their weird mini adventure with them to find out what the adults in their house were up too.
"DO YOU HAVE IT?!"
As the three crept up to the door, they all uneasily looked to one another. This was clearly not a date but an interrogation. The three students didn't need the man to say what he was after the three of them already knew—the bracelet.
"Victor..." Trudy's trembling voice was the response they heard through the door. "I don't know what's got into you."
Alfie leaned closer to the door, causing the floorboard under his foot to creak. The twins looked to one another eyes widening. If they heard the noise, then Victor certainly had.
"I think I'm going to leave now," Trudy spoke up, but after that there was silence. The three students leaning even closer to the door at the sudden lack of noise.
Until the door was thrown open and the three of them went falling unceremoniously into the office room. Looking up at Victor and Trudy from where they were now sprawled on the floor.
"What are you three doing there?!" Victor asked, looking down at them on the ground with a scowl on his face.
"Well, you see Vicky... I told them you were on a date and, uh..." Camilla scrambled to her feet, trying to think up an excuse, brushing down her clothing as she did. Fabian and Alfie following the girl's actions.
"eh... we thought we'd add some atmosphere to it." Fabian continued for his sister as he held out his guitar, Alfie racing to the desk, grabbed some flowers off it and held them out to Trudy.
"Serenade you in the language of love!" Alfie added with a nervous laugh, watching the uneasy looks the adults gave one another.
Alfie and Fabian could pull something off they knew, but Singing or music in any sense of the word was not Camilla's strong point.
Camilla tapped on her brother's guitar, "play something Fabby!" she hissed with a forced smile on her face looking around the room.
Fabian looked to his sister nervously before he started to randomly strum chords. Alfie and Camilla swaying slightly.
"Your eyes are like... stars..." Alfie started to sing, Camilla humming along as she swayed to the music. "All beautiful and twinkly! Your face, it is so ... Pure..."
"Sure..." Fabian mumbled.
"Although he is kind of wrinkly!" Alfie teased laughing as he sang, looking to Victor who glowered at the boy's remark.
"Alfred Lewis!" Victor's tone of voice caused Fabian to stop strumming instantly, and the three students turned to face Victor nervously. "this is not a date." The man told them all bluntly.
Camilla frowned and looked to Trudy who seemed genuinely hurt at the news.
"Oh." The woman spoke up, getting to her feet, looking over them all before running from the room.
"Trudy!" Victor and Camilla both called after the woman, Camilla looking to Victor with a glare before racing after the housemother. Hearing footfalls on the stairs as she reached the kitchen knowing Fabian and Alfie had just been thrown out of Victor's office.
KT bit her lip as she picked up the framed photo of her grandpa. Camilla kept telling her he would be waiting for her in Aaru, Egyptian heaven or paradise, but that didn't stop the pain the girl felt as she missed him now. "I miss you, Grandpa." She told the photo her voice thick, her free hand picking up the metal key she had been given to him. Her little bit of her grandpa she had left. With that, she took a steadying breath and put the photo down before slipping the key under her diary in the top drawer of her side table. It was the most ideal hiding spot, but she wasn't sure where else to hide it.
Just as the drawer shut KT heard the bedroom door slowly creak open, and she turned her head around to see a nervous-looking Patricia stood in the doorway of the bedroom, the two girls shared with Joy.
An uneasy silence passed as the two girls looked to one another before Patricia cleared her throat. Nervously walking over to her bed and sitting down on the end, facing her roommate. "Listen, KT," The gothic girl started, "there's something I wanted to say."
The confused look that flitted across KT's face at those words were to be expected, but Patricia moved on, trying not to think about it too much.
"I wondered –"the girl took a deep breath before finishing the sentence, "I wondered if you would like to do the business studies project with me?"
"Sure..." KT answered, trying not to sound as surprised as she clearly felt.
"What, that's it?" Patricia couldn't help but scoff at the girl's answer. Even she knew she hadn't exactly been nice to the new girl, but the fact she was soo okay with working with her was disconcerting. Maybe she had been around her friends too long and had grown used to their rather dramatic responses when facing situations. "you're not going to tell me to get lost?"
"why would I?" KT asked her roommate. She could see this for what it was. An olive branch from Patricia, the girl who was infamous for never apologising – or so Camilla had told her. Why would she not give the girl the chance she clearly was trying to ask for.
"I don't know," Patricia shrugged, "I would."
KT laughed slightly, "I can if you want."
Even Patricia couldn't help the smile appeared on her face at the girl's quip, "okay... Enough of the being nice stuff. It's really kind of weird." Her smile told KT she was only joking as she moved from her bed to KT, "so do you have any ideas? Because I have none!"
"Well..." KT glanced at her notebook and opened it as she started to talk to Patricia.
Unknown to both girls Eddie was lurking by the door. He had seen Patricia run up the stairs and because of his 'hero complex' as Camilla kept calling it, raced after her to stop both girls from hurting the other. He hadn't expected to hear a truce of sorts to be formed as the girls decided to do the business project together.
His brow furrowed as he watched the pair share tentative smiles as they looked over something in KT's notebook. His hand creeping around the frame of the door as he tried to understand what was going on.
However, the House had other plans for him.
His mind was filled with white as the house communicated with him. The boy found himself – or more accurately an astral projected version of himself (Camilla having told him about it happening to her during the year her powers were coming to light) – in a hospital of some kind. Still, it wasn't anything like the hospital in the town bustling a full of people. This one was subdued, quiet, with not many patents. He was facing a room, with minimal furniture and no personal touches, with a woman in a chair facing her bedside table. The boy couldn't help it as he walked further into the room. Trying to make sense of what he was being told.
As he walked forward, the woman turned around to look at him, as if she could see him. She was mousey, with timid features, and straight brown hair, but when she caught his eye, he could see an inner strength to her. A will to live. Something he couldn't help but admire.
As soon as the vision came, it was gone again. Eddie jumping a little as he found himself stood in the girl's hallway. His mind was full of questions. Why did the house want him to see this woman? Who was she? Why was she important? He glanced back at the room, his ex-girlfriend and his best friend were sat in talking about Denby's business project.
"I need to talk to Cam..." he muttered shaken, before turning and quickly walking from the corridor.
"Eddie?" he heard KT shout, but he didn't have time to explain why he had been lurking at their door. There was something more important he had to do now, and only one person he knew could help him – well technically two, but Nina was in the states, and he didn't think she'd appreciate a panicked phone call.
Camilla had seen Trudy too her room and calmed the woman down, saying a lot of things about Victor that she knew on any other occasion she'd have been scolded for, but the woman simply laughed at the young girl's honesty.
With the promise of making the woman cup of tea and maybe raiding the cupboards for the good biscuits, the girl slipped from her housemother's room and towards the kitchen, passing Fabian and Alfie who wandered into the living room, Alfie throwing himself onto the unoccupied couch burying his face into the pillows with a groan as Fabian sunk into an armchair.
Amber and Jerome looking up from their notebooks as the pair joined them.
Amber quirked a perfect eyebrow at Fabian who shook his head at the girl. "you don't want to know."
Amber turned her head to Camilla who was watching them from the kitchen with a bemused smile on her face, "Trudy and Victor got their wires crossed... we thought they were on a date,"
This caused Jerome and Alfie to shudder, "Victor on a date." Jerome tried not to sound grossed out at the fact, whereas a small bemused smile fell onto her face. For someone who was busy studying, he quickly paid attention to the small girl in the kitchen, especially when he hadn't even lifted his head from his notebooks, but he still knew she was in the room.
As Alfie turned to Fabian and started to whisper about what he thought their punishment was going to be for interrupting the 'date' Amber's eyes stayed on Jerome. Waiting until her gaze caused the boy to squirm enough to look up at her.
Jerome looked to her with an expectant look, waiting for Amber to explain her knowing look. The look he was starting to hate on the girl's face.
"I finally see what you are doing," Amber told him simply as she shut her own notebook. She had an idea, and she knew Willow would go with whatever she wanted. The idea, however, would take time to create, time she wasn't sure she had.
"Oh? What is that?" Jerome couldn't help but ask.
Amber sent him a smirk. It threw him a little as that smirk was completely Camilla. "you are pretending you don't love her, for Mara's sake." Amber said as simply as if she was commenting on the weather.
Jerome knew he couldn't lie, not to the Romance Goddess as Amber had dubbed herself. He couldn't lie to Camilla's best friend, because even if he did, she'd know he was lying.
"that's obvious?" he sighed, glancing to Alfie and Fabian who were too busy discussing the worst chores they had seen Victor give Eddie and Patricia the year before and wondering which ones the man would force on them. Even though the boys seemed distracted, he made sure his tone was nothing short of a whisper.
Amber got to her feet and put a hand on his shoulder, "its only obvious to those of us who can see the truth, and are willing to see the truth." With that, she gave his shoulder a small squeeze before moving into the kitchen. "Cam! Let me take that to Trudy; I need to talk to her about my business project anyway."
Jerome turned to see the blonde taking a tray from the small brunette, who simply gave her friend an amused smile but let her take the tray from her. Amber hurrying from the room, just as Eddie rushed in, glancing around before his eyes landed on Camilla who had picked up another cup of tea, the sight causing a smile to flicker onto his face. Of course, she made herself a cup of tea. She had an addiction to the stuff. He swore she even had a 6th sense as to when the kettle was put on in the house.
Camilla didn't look surprised as Eddie came rushing to her in a panic. Whatever it was, it was clearly important. He could tell from the way her brows furrowed together, her focus on Eddie (who was talking with wild hand motions). The girl glanced to the living room, catching his eye, causing him to take a sharp intake of breath. For a second, a millisecond, as their eyes met, it was just them in the room. All noise around him quieting as for that second, he drank in her attention on him.
Then she blinked.
Her eyes sliding off him to Fabian and Alfie. The noise of their heated debate thunderous in his ears, like a wave crashing against a cliff edge.
He kept his focus on Camilla as she grabbed Eddie's sleeve and pulled him to the back of the kitchen. Clearly whatever they were going to talk about was important, or at least important enough, they needed to talk on the privacy of the back porch.
Jerome wasn't sure how long his gaze had been on the empty kitchen where Camilla had left with Eddie, but it must have been long enough to cause Fabian and Alfie to stop talking and look at him. It was their silence that snapped the boy out of his trance. His head turned around to look at the boys he shared the living room with, both of whom looked at him with 2 very different expressions. Fabian's was annoyance (which was to be expected), but there was something else there, something Jerome couldn't quite put his finger on. Understanding? Realisation? Recognition? He wasn't sure. Alfie's expression was to be expected. It was a mix of amusement and exasperation – the boy was ready for him to dump Mara and beg for Camilla's forgiveness, but things weren't that easy. Especially now, with this mini-competition between the two girls with the business project.
Alfie was the first to talk, "you need to talk to her," the boy pointing to the door as he grabbed Fabian's arm and pulled him to his feet, "and you," he focused on Fabian who started to protest, as Jerome got to his feet and rushed through to the kitchen "need to let it happen."
"What?" Fabian brushed off Alfie's hand, Jerome too far away to shout at.
"The tension in this house is too much," Alfie explained simply, "part of that is Jerome and Camilla haven't spoken. At all."
"hmmm maybe because he decided to date Mara and break her heart?" Fabian sassed back.
Alfie waved the sass off and shook his head, "no... I don't think its that simple."
Fabian looked at the boy waiting for him to elaborate, but Alfie didn't, simply leaving him in the room. Fabian sunk back into the armchair with a sigh, rubbing at his face, when did everything get so complicated.
Camilla and Eddie were sat on the back-porch swing, as Eddie explained to her the latest daymare the house had given him.
"So that's when I came to you because you'd know what to do."
Camilla looked to her friend, her second brother, as the breeze caused the leaves of the trees to rustle slightly, "figure out all of your daymares?"
"pretty much yeah," Eddie nodded his head missing the sarcasm in her voice completely.
Camilla sighed and bit her lip, "clearly whoever this woman is she is important, so I guess we need to find out who she is, somehow."
"But? How do we –"
Eddie was interrupted as the backdoor creaked open and the pair turned to see a Jerome, eliminated only by the soft, warm light of the kitchen. "Eh, sorry..." he started, running a hand over his jaw – a nervous habit Camilla knew he had. "I was hoping I could talk to Camilla if that's okay?"
"Eh..." Camilla heard Eddie say and she looked to him to see he was already looking at her and the girl smiled at him.
"It's okay," she whispered to her brother before glancing to Jerome, "sure, we can talk."
Eddie got to his feet causing the swing to swing slightly as he did, before going to the doorway Jerome stood in. He paused and whispered something to the boy, but whatever it was Camilla missed it, though the way Jerome's jaw clutched she could tell it was probably something overprotective that Fabian would have been proud of saying to the boy. With that, he stepped into the house and closed the kitchen door. Leaving Jerome and Camilla alone on the porch.
Camilla looked out onto the walkway they all took to school as silence fell between them. Not saying anything until Jerome sat himself down on the seat next to her, giving her déjà vu of one of her birthdays the year before when the pair had sat on that same spot looking up at the Star her grandmother had bought her. Life was so simple then; her crush was just that—a crush forming on Jerome. However now... she wasn't stupid she knew what she felt for the boy was deeper than a crush. It hadn't hurt as bad with Alfie as it had done when she saw Jerome with someone else.
Only she would be so stupid as to fall in love with a boy who didn't love her back.
"I know you haven't really spoken to me since term started," Jerome broke the silence, Camilla not saying anything as he wanted to talk to her. "you haven't really talked to me since..."
Her brow furrowed as he trailed off and despite herself, she looked at him with such a sad wistfulness that it made his heart stop. And then, just as fast as it came, it vanished into a look of anger.
"Since you stopped talking to me halfway through the summer and came back to school with a new girlfriend?" the words were harsh and biting, and the girl took a little pride as she saw the boy finch as her words cut into him. "I felt like we didn't really have anything to talk about Jerome."
With that, Camilla looked back at the scenery around them.
Jerome took a deep breath, "Milly... I didn't want to hurt you... there is just – there is stuff I can't explain to you yet but..." the words came tumbling from his mouth in a confusing state. The boy tripping over them as he tried to explain what had happened and why but not being able too at the same time.
Camilla closed her eyes as she fought the tears that weld up. She refused to cry over Jerome Clarke, at least where he could see it. "you never once asked me how I felt." Her voice was quiet, so quiet if it was anyone else talking, he would have missed it. However, it was Camilla, as much as it annoyed Mara Jerome would always pay attention to her first, would always see her, would always hear her. "You never once asked me how I felt after you kissed me last term, and I have been left to mend my own heart, yet again... and after all the crazy things I have been through at this school... that is still the worst thing to have ever happened to me." The girl took a shaking breath as she paused, giving him time if he wanted to speak, but the silence was deafening, and she knew he had no response for her truth. "I just... Don't know where it went wrong. One minute my life is perfect, and in less than a second it falls apart," Camilla said, voice barely audible.
Jerome glanced at her. "It went wrong when I fucked up."
She turned her head, the two locking eyes. "I... Can't say I disagree with you."
The silence became obvious. Painfully obvious.
Camilla gave the boy who owned her heart a small watery smile before she got to her feet, sending the seat swinging once again. "I hope you're happy with Mara. Really. If she makes you happy... I just wish you'd given us a chance." With that, she turned and walked into the house.
Not seeing the tears and finally fell from Jerome's eyes as he wished for nothing more than to run after the girl he loved and make everything right. But in reality, he couldn't, the situation he was in required a more complicated solution that he was working on. He just hoped when it was resolved. He still had a chance with the goddess who had just left him alone outside.
Victor's punishment for them interrupting his interrogation/dinner was so specific, and long the man had actually written it down and handed it to Camilla as she left for school the next day. Alfie and Fabian were looking over it as the trio left the art classroom.
"scrape the ovens, scoop out the drains." Alfie groaned as he looked over the list, "and we aren't even allowed to use magic!"
"I do love how he added that," Camilla sighed.
"it's going to take us over a year to do all this stuff without magic," Alfie looked to the twins next to him.
Fabian shook his head at the pairs moaning, "yeah, well, its better than Victor getting that bracelet. I just wish I knew why he wanted it so badly."
The three of them stopped as Amber stood in their way, arms crossed an angry look directed at Alfie. "that is her..." Camilla started quietly.
"This is my angry face!" Amber shouted at the trio, looking between them, "it's also deep wash exfoliant, but we will focus on the anger! Now, what happened last night? And don't lie to me!"
Both boys looked to Camilla instantly.
"And don't look to Cam! She's told me the story, and now I want to hear it from you two." With that, Amber grabbed Camilla's wrist, so the girl stood next to her as she glared at Alfie and Fabian.
Fabian laughed nervously, looking to Alfie who nodded his head. If Camilla had already told Amber, then they had a better off stick with the truth too. There was nothing the girls didn't share with one another.
"Look, it's Victor. He threatened Trudy!" Fabian started sending Camilla an apologetic look – knowing his sister still thought Victor wasn't the bad guy. Though unlike last year when Vera could be to blamed for a lot of their speculation of Victor, there was too much evidence to suggest he could actually have gone to the dark side. No matter how much Camilla denied that fact. "he thinks she took the bracelet."
"We didn't want you to panic," Alfie added softly looking to his girlfriend.
"Well FYI, panicky face!" Amber told the three instantly grabbing Camilla's hand for comfort. The female twin squeezing it back.
"Relax, I will protect you Amber... and Trudy," Camilla told her friend, getting a small smile from the blonde at her words.
"and we will help," Fabian pipped in.
"Oh, really?" Amber turned to look at the boys.
"Yeah!"
"I can't wait to hear your big plan," she looked between them, "I take it you have one?" her sarcasm and snark was all Camilla, and the brunette beside her couldn't help but feel so proud as Amber looked between the boys.
"Of course!" Alfie quickly spoke up.
"Absolutely." Fabian agreed.
The two girls looked to them expectantly. If they had a plan, Camilla was sure she'd have heard it by now.
Amber looked at Camilla and shook her head. "Oh, great." With that, she walked between the boys and pulled Camilla with her. Hoping she had made the pair squirm for just a little, though she was keeping the magic-user with her for protection. She knew Camilla would make sure nothing harmed her, plus she needed to ask the girl about everything that had happened between her and Jerome.
The business studies class was in its full, busy chaos as everyone excitedly discussed their upcoming business ventures. Fabian was turned to talk to his sister, trying to talk her out of using actual magic as she tried to one-up Mara when Camilla spotted Eddie and KT walk into the classroom. The one brief look between the three told Camilla that KT knew of the weird vision Eddie had had, but nothing more could be said as Denby followed the pair into the classroom after, pulling off her pink coat as the class settled down in their partnered-up seats.
"Now I hope you've all decided who you're doing your business projects with. Though the few of you without pairs, I do admire your ambition," the teacher spoke up as she leant against her desk. Camilla snorted slightly leaning back in her chair – who could she partner up with Victor? In theory, she could have partnered with Eddie, but the boy wanted nothing to do with 'World War Mara' has he had dubbed the girl's feud, so she only had the option of going solo.
In her seat next to Mara, Willow's hand shot into the air excitedly from the front of the class. "Amber and I can work together."
"Actually," Amber spoke up from her seat next to Alfie, "kind of wanted to do this on my own now."
"Oh..." Willow's face fell before she looked to her desk partner, "well, Mara then?"
Mara glanced back to Camilla, who raised an eyebrow. Logically two heads were better than one, meaning she would easily beat Camilla that way. "you know what, sure." Mara told the girl getting a beaming smile from her.
"What?!" the panicked shout of Jerome caused all heads to turn to the boy who sat in his normal seat directly behind Camilla. "it is meant to be you against us," he pointed between Camilla and himself. "are you okay with this?" he demanded looking to Camilla.
Camilla shrugged, "I have something even those two can't compete with, she can team up for all I care."
"your awfully confident." Mara looked to Camilla.
Camilla smiled sweetly at the girl, "yes, yes, I am."
"You teaming up is cheating!" Jerome added.
Mara squinted her eyes at him, "you've got Alfie to help you." She countered.
"He doesn't count he's useless," Jerome argued back.
Miss Denby quickly interrupted the fighting happening between the couple and Camilla. She might be new to the school, but even she knew of why the tension around the three was there. "So, anyone brave enough to tell me their ideas?"
"Well," Fabian spoke up quickly, "we thought we'd do ancient Egyptian food."
"Seriously?" Camilla couldn't stop the word as it toppled from her mouth. She knew that was 'their family thing' but did Fabian have to play into it so hard?
"yeah, it was all Fabe's idea," Joy told the teacher as laughter rang out in the room at Camilla's exclaim, "making Anubis into a brand."
"Oh, that's great," Miss Denby nodded at the pair, "exotic, mysterious... I like it,"
"bet the god of mummification and the dead would hate to know he was a common brand," Camilla mumbled causing Amber to let out a giggle and Eddie to snort from next to the girl.
Amber and Camilla were stood by the girl's locker after class, whispering about maybe combining their ideas for Miss Denby's project, seeing as neither of them was really doing it for the project but other more personal motivations. Plus, they both had decided on the same object to base their concepts behind, so it was a win-win.
"Magic will just be an added flare to show daddy..." Amber told Camilla as she shut her locker, and her best friend nodded.
"Amber," Willow approached the two, eyeing the smaller girl wearily, "Camilla..."
"Hello Willow," Camilla smiled, and the girl smiled brightly skipping up to them both, knowing she wasn't interrupting the pair.
"I just wanted to say that it is okay if you want to do the project on your own." She told the blonde solemnly, causing Amber and Camilla to share a look. "I completely understand."
Amber sent Willow a small smile, as Camilla adjusted the belt she was wearing around her skirt, "Willow, I am sorry, it's just with Daddy coming, its a chance for me to show him what I really want to do with my life."
Willow nodded her head at the girl's words, before her eyes fell on Amber's sketchbook, "Woah those are amazing."
"Will a magical touch with Camilla's help they will be better than Amazing," Amber told the girl with a smile to her best friend. Camilla smiled back at her.
"you know," Willow told the girls as they looped arms and Amber leaned into Camilla's side, "I honestly wished I knew what I wanted to do with my life, besides, dog whispering and conquering Everest..."
"Right..." Camilla looked at Willow weirdly before pulling Amber away from the girl and down the hall.
As the pair reached the student lounge Joy spotted them and called them over, "Guys, guess who's decoded some more of the message."
Camilla settled on the arm of Fabian's chair as Amber sat down on the arm of Alfie's, kissing the boy's cheek as she did, "well if it's not Fabian then brother of mine you're out of a job."
"Oh, ha ha." Fabian rolled his eyes at his sister's joke before turning the notebook he was working on around to show Alfie and Amber. "I've got another symbol."
"hmmm, I know that symbol," Alfie sat up looking at it, "we've done it in math. It's the symbol for Pi."
Joy laughed, "trust you to remember something called Pi."
"I thought it was pie too, but look." Fabian pointed to the clue sheet, "at the top. There is a crescent moon; sometimes, it has a figure of a man inside, either that or a cow."
"it's a house or a building, a shelter from the goddess Nut," Camilla realised.
"Eh?"
"the pi symbol, it's like two walls and a roof." She explained.
"Exactly," Fabian looked to his twin with pride.
Amber, of course, was still stuck on a previous comment, her head tilted as she looked at the clue sheet of paper, "that's meant to be a cow? These people really need to learn how to draw."
Amber and Camilla were busy at work in their room, a mannequin with a rough paper pattern pinned. Amber was holding a long thin striped sweet in her hand, as Camilla whistled into another stripped sweet 0- an angelic melody came out of the bottom end.
"I thought Alfie said you were working on your business project," Patricia's voice had Camilla pointing Amber's dressing gown flicking her fingers so it covered the mannequin the two girls turning to Patricia arms crossed as she walked into their room.
"So, what's you and KT's big plan?" Amber asked trying to move the conversation onto a different topic.
"Oh, fortune cookies!" Patricia sighed holding the tray up to show the girls, "she's ripped out some stupid proverbs from her diary. Let's look..." Patricia held one up and read, "the greatest treasure is worn with pride..."
"those who wish to sing will find a song..." Amber read picking a small bit of paper up herself.
"And those who wish to vomit will find a bucket," Patricia added causing laughs from her friends.
"Hey!" KT smiled at the girls as she walked into the room, "I'll put more cookies in the oven, I feel we'll need a lot more."
Patricia sighed and turned to her, "Listen KT, no offence, this idea sucks." With that Patricia picked up the fortunes and threw them into Amber's paper bin.
"Plus, fortune cookies already exist..." Camilla pointed out to the girl.
"Exactly," Patricia agreed with Camilla, "what we should do is make misfortune cookies." KT looked to Patricia confused, "you know, instead of putting those dumb sayings inside, what we do is we put secrets about everyone in the school."
"Like, Jerome's mom made him go to ballet classes," Camilla pointed out.
"Or Eddie is secretly into rom com's and crys every time," Amber added.
"Or Fabian's middle name was almost Susan," Patricia commented.
"was it?" KT couldn't help but laugh.
"who cares, we will just make them up."
KT let out a laugh, "oh that's awesome! I guess we're gonna need a lot more cookies!" with that the girl raced from the room.
KT got about as far as the main landing before stopping. Eddie was on his hands and knees watching Victor in his office. "Eddie?" she hissed.
Eddie ushered her over and KT groaned before getting on her hands and knees crawling over to the boy, just in time too as Victor's phone started to ring and the man picked it up. "Hello? Yes, I got the message. I trust this is urgent. What? A meeting? Well if not at the gatehouse then...very well... agreed, yes. Ten minutes." With that, Victor hung up the phone and glowered.
Eddie's eyes widened as he pushed KT back towards the girl's rooms, knowing Victor was about to leave. The pair rushed to the door and looked at one another. They needed to know what meeting Victor was going too and Camilla needed to come too.
"Are you crazy, Eddie?!" KT groaned as she and Camilla followed behind Eddie, the three following Victor to this secret meeting. "I can't believe we are just following him." this last comment was more to Camilla than the boy stealing ahead of them.
Camilla looped her arms in KT's, "its part of the Anum Academy charm... crazy is just our base level."
"Shhh!" Eddie hissed at the pair as they caught up with him before he pointed to a clearing in the woods near a fallen tree. Camilla smiling slightly at the sight. It was were Sibuna had been formed. Though instead of a bin being on fire, Victor was stood alone in the clearing. The girl took cover behind a tree and peeped out, confused as to what her mentor was up too. Eddie and KT popped their heads out from behind the tree they were hiding behind as Miss Denby entered the clearing.
"Denby!" Eddie hissed to his friends.
"We can see that!" Camilla hissed back at him before focusing back on the adults a frown on her face as a third person appeared in the clearing. Their back to them so they couldn't see who it was.
"who's the other guy?" Eddie asked the pair.
"I cant see..." KT whispered to him apologetically.
"Your charms didn't work on Trudy after all!" Denby belittled Victor causing Camilla to shake her head. Victor couldn't be working for the bad guy. For the tank woman. He just couldn't.
Victor didn't help with his answer of, "may I remind you that the date was not my ridiculous idea? Now she'll never admit to having the parcel."
Camilla had to cover her mouth to stop the gasp from leaving it. This was all to do with the bloody bracelet!
"Victor, we're running out of time!" Denby argued with him. "the bracelet can only be used when everything is a lined, you know that!"
"guy's I'm going closer..." Eddie whispered to the pair, knowing Camilla wouldn't argue with him this time. The girl was too busy trying to mentally come up with some excuse as to why Victor wasn't a bad guy despite the evidence being in front of her this time.
Eddie raced forward, and the two girls glanced to one another before they did the same. Eddie and KT diving behind a tree and Camilla diving behind the one opposite them. Her foot stepping on a twig and snapping it, causing all three teens to freeze.
KT took a deep breath before popping her head out from behind the tree, her eyes widening as she took in the sight of who the third man was. Her eyes looking to Eddie in shock. It couldn't be possible.
