The trio have now arrived at the location of where the appa guy said this thief girl would be, and it looks like a deserted town, but looking at it closely it's very much filled with people who don't have anything good to do in their lives.
As much as Subaru wants to believe that this skilled thief girl stole from this elegant lady and a skilled armed butler is, he just doesn't believe any kid would live in a trash town.
But hey, if Appa guy says Felt is here then he might as well follow it as it is a lead after all.
Rem has finally made them go here, she has the feeling she's going to complete a quest in this mysterious but adventurous game.
After she completed this quest she will explore more of this place. And now that she's confident enough to ask around she'll have no problem looking for people who need someone's help.
Like Rem's help!
As the trio continue their way deeper inside this broken town, Rem gets a bit more nervous every time she gets a deja vu. She didn't forget about what she dreamt when she was in front of the appa guy's store for the first time.
She has a feeling the fat guy will come for her again. Her eyes are shaking and her voice is quivering even though she's not intending to make any some sort of noise
But all of the sudden Subaru grabs Rem's right shoulder and holds her near him without any hesitation. "You're afraid of something or someone here? Don't sweat it Rem. I'm sure whoever you're scared of here, they won't last a second." Subaru says in a professional manner like it's his job to do so. Rem has red all over her face, but she just accepts this… protection as the trio continue to search for a loot house that was told to find. Lia on the other hand was just taking some glimpses of Rem and Subaru together.
It's very sweet, but Subaru doesn't seem to be embarrassed by this or anything. It's like in the mansion with Ram. They're always emotionless sometimes and it's very rare for them to show any type of emotion for anyone.
Lia gets a treatment of Subaru's smiles sometimes but she feels like they are fake, and only to hide what pain he holds still. She may not know it yet, but soon maybe she'll understand Subaru and what's been bothering him that made him act the way he did like Ram. Maybe Ram had something similar to Subaru as well?
God heaven knows.
They have arrived at the exact location the appa guy has provided them, and the place looks too convincing to not be considered.
May I also remind you that it took them a while to find this place?
Subaru is holding a lantern to see the loot house in its full view, but Rem just turns on her flashlight in her phone and it's already lighting up the whole thing.
Subaru looks at her phone.
"It's also a light source?" He asked as Rem gently nods at him.
"It's a strong one too. I bought this from a person who was willing to make it for me. I don't know what they did at first, but it looks like I can adjust the light."
Rem lowers the flashlight of her phone and the brightness of it lowers too.
"That smartphone of yours is really handy, it has a lot of uses." Rem just nods at Subaru's saying.
Rem looks at the loot house and its appearance.
"It's like any other house we saw recently, but it looks like this one is well built, not really but it's a good home per say."
"Subaru, although I heard it, but do we really have to pay for it? It's stolen from us and we're going to pay back for it?" Lia asked but Subaru reasures her.
"Don't worry, I'm sure it'll be fine once it's over, and Rem?"
Subaru looks at Rem, which she looks at him.
"I-Is there something wrong?" Rem asked as she keeps focused on her surroundings.
"You told me and...lia, you'll help us right?
Rem nods."I still haven't done that good deed yet, so I will assist both of you whenever you like."
"Well then, can you go check inside to see if it's safe?"
Rem widens her eyes, as she doesn't really wanna go in there alone… but she said she'll help them…. She won't back down, not if she is this close to ending it.
"Is that so? Well…" Rem has already considered it and she looks at them and just smiles.
"I'll do so."
Lia just pats Subaru's shoulders and he looks at him.
"Oi, Mimi. What's going on?"
"Subaru, I know we don't know her much, but it's really cruel to leave a lady like her inside there alone.
You've technically seen what she's capable of, she's not a person who seems to be dependable and yet you're letting her in there alone."
Rem heard that and it kind of hurts to hear that from Lia. Shes not that dependable? Ow.
"Well what am I supposed to do?? I'm supposed to be protecting you, remember?"
"I can protect myself, Subaru. You don't have to worry about me everytime we're somewhere."
This supposedly part where he just gives up is coming to a start and lets her do her things, but he doesn't back down and argues back.
"But you know that I promised something to Puck! If I go in there and leave you with Rem. I'll get super anxious and my head will-
Lia looks at Rem.
"I trust Remura."
Subaru has gone quiet, so as Rem.
"She… trusts Rem?" She mentally said as both participants look at her before looking at each other back.
"We may have just met here today. But so far I have no problems with her. So that's why I trust her."
Subaru groans and rubs the back of his head.
"Ahhg, you're really making me worry, Mimi! You know how much I worry about you when you're alone."
"If you really don't want Remura to be with me there, I'm guessing you don't trust her, and so as you don't trust me as well."
"Ah- wait hold on! I'm not saying I don't trust you! But-"
Rem is looking at them talking, but she needs to just help them, and that's it.
Rem will be satisfied if Miss Lia or Mimi? Gets her Insignia back as soon as possible.
Maybe they'll meet again once she's done with this.
Rem looks at them before waking to the door in discretion and she adjusts her flashlight to a minimum.
She pushes the door a bit and it easily opens.
She looks at those two once more and she smiles at them before going inside the loot house alone and gently closes the door behind her and she looks around.
Rem looks around the place.
"This is scary… I'm already regretting this."
Rem starts to walk and observe the place.
"Stolen goods, maybe? No poor house would have this much items, not unless they're hiding in secret or it's a place where they hide what they stole.
"This is a loot house and a thief girl lives here…"
"Oh Rem you're stupid… It was obvious but you're too stupid to realize much faster."
Rem looks around the place and-
Splsh.
Rem just stepped on something wet…
Rem looks down on what she stepped on. And the view of her eyes just sent a energy like lightning all over her body, working her up and making hear heart suddenly beat fast.
It's… it's blood! A lot of it!
Rem starts to get nervous as she tries to adjust the light but she's shivering so much that she can't even turn her own phone on.
"W-what…???"
She slowly guides her phone to where the blood is coming from and she was more surprised to see this…
"T-this big guy!"
Rem backs off a little and looks at the old man. He's bleeding from his mouth…
Rem remembers what he looked like.
This is the guy that is with that kid Felt...
This is him! But now… he's… he's…
"W-wait a minute! If he's bleeding right now. T-t-that means!!!"
"Oh my… Looks like I've been discovered..."
Rem's whole body froze and her heart skipped a beat when she heard that voice.
"This can't be helped then~... Looks like you've given me no choice."
Rem slowly turns around but before she can see who it is Rem gets knocked back and she drops her phone far away.
Rem grunts in pain as she stumbles on the floor.
Rem is laying down on the ground, she tries to stand up but some pain led her to lay her back on a wall and hold her own stomach.
She noticed that she dropped her phone. She tried to get up once more but she held her stomach in pain, and she felt something wet. …
Rem looks at her hand and sees her hand is… covered in blood!
She slowly looks at her stomach and she sees a large cut, and she sees her own guts coming out of her.
Rem's heart starts to beat in a ridiculous fast way as she grinds her teeth, bearing the pain.
She looks at her stomach, and blood is gushing out.
"I...Is this my…"
Rem feels the urge to vomit as she covers her mouth to prevent it, and blood starts coming out of her mouth.
"This…!! this is so painful!!..!" Rem screams out in her mind as she tries her best to cover the wound but only to be overwhelmed by the stress her body has accumulated.
Rem grunts as she tries to cover her abdomen that's been cut with her jacket, but it's too big and whenever Rem touches it, it hurts more.
The door opens and figure looks around.
"Remura?"
It turns out to be Subaru. He noticed that she dropped her thing on the floor and is lighting the ceiling. Did Rem drop her thing or something or is it a light source here?
Subaru comes in and searches for Rem.
"Rem? Reem? Are you in here?"
"S-Subaru..?? N-no… n-no!! S-subaru! Get back! Or you'll get-!" Rem's attempt to speak properly and loudly failed.
Rem heard metal clashing together and then something sliced.
Right in front of her eyes. Subaru falls near Rem. Not responding.
"S-Subaru…! N-no…. N-no…!!"
Rem's starts losing more blood now that her heart is pumping this fast. It's starting to slow down.
She's in pain and agony… She's puddling in her own blood right now… Why isn't she dead?!
Rem sees something bright, thanks to the blood that is reflecting something.
It's… Something is glowing. She noticed something glowing on top of her forehead.
She tries to touch it but her abdomen pains more as she bites her lips to try and endure it. Maybe moving isn't a good idea.
Rem breathes from her mouth as her eyes start to lose it's sight.
The thing on her forehead is starting to die down as well.
Another one comes in.
"Subaru?"
She comes in no hesitation at all.
"Are you in here? Have you found Remura yet?"
Rem widens her eyes and the thing flies more on her forehead as she tries to warn Lia.
"M-Miss Mi-Lia…! D-don't!"
Lia heard that as she walked to the voice but she heard something from behind and she turned around.
Rem closes her eyes and she hears another thud and now sees Lia laying down next to Subaru, also bleeding as well.
Rem was shocked to see this sight. This isn't what she thinked of when they got here…
She just got two innocent people killed.. and soon she's next to come with them.
Rem's vision starts to blur, as she just now throws up on herself. She wonders why she isn't dead yet, but she's still barely concious, but she knows herself this is the end.
A light…? On both Subaru and Lia's hands...
Is it heaven's calling for them…?
The glow that's on top of her head.
It's starting to disappear.
Rem starts crying, and she knows it's hopeless. She should've been more aware. She should've been more careful...
"I-I'm sorry…"
Rem apologizes to basically no one at this point. Slowly as the glow on top of her head disappeared, everything slowly turned to black.
"Well? Are you going to take it or not?"
Something just hit Rem mentally.
Her eyes widens and she falls to her knees trying to breathe.
Rem: "S-S- m-M-m-mM-!! C-khcjkkkKKKNK!"
She can't form words.
Rem tries to breathe and gets her thoughts together and the appa guy checks on Rem to see what the hell just happened.
"Oi! Are you alright lady?? You just suddenly collapsed and started sprouting out nonsense infront of my shop!"
Rem looks at him, and he seems a bit worried.
Rem blinks and looks at him.
"Mister…"
Rem closes her eyes and breathes as she looks at him.
"Have you…"
She points to herself.
"Seen me before…?"
"What? What are you talking about, lady?
We haven't met before and I don't care! If you don't want the apple then get out of here! I don't need people kneeling down in my shop! Go!
Rem looks around the place, and once again deja vu hits her…
She checks her phone.
The battery percentage went up, and wasn't it night time…? She checks her diary, and its all empty.
Rem holds her head as she calms down.
"It happened again…? The first time this happened, everything is… it's a dream…right?...n-no...t-that pain...the excrusiatijg pain Rem felt just now… t-that was no dream..."
Rem just remembered something and she almost dropped her phone because of it.
"Miss Lia!! Subaru!!"
Rem turns her phone off and she quickly runs to the slums and to the loot house as fast as she can.
She died, and everything was reset, like last time.
She thought it was a dream at first but this happening for the second time is starting to bother Rem. Also the Sharp pain in her stomach still lies within even though she's fine. She has a feeling… this isn't a dream, nor the last one was, but she quickly runs to the slums to check on the two she just watched die.
