Well, thanks for the feedback everyone, it was nice to see your views on my little situation. Honestly, if I got even that type of engagement / interaction for every chapter, I would be jumping through the ceiling in joy.
Anyways, from what you guys have said, I'll probably try to start updating around the morning for every. I was thinking 7 western which would be 10 am eastern. I could do later or earlier if you believe this to be inefficient or have a worse result (For all my foreigners, I'm truly sorry). Still, if I do this, it'll be a bitch for my sleep schedule.
One more thing to ask for you guys. How many errors are there per chapter, on average? I don't really proof read cause I'm lazy and everything, but if there is an outstanding amount of gramatical and spelling errors in each chapter I'll make sure to review them before I post them. Feedback in the reviews please because I know how annoying it is to read a story with errors every other sentence!
Sorry for getting off topic, here's the 12th chapter boys and girls and quite possibly aliens.
Chapter 12: It Was Perfect
"Aphrodite, please, for the love of Zeus, put your jacket on." Percy pleaded, attempting to hide his face while every man passing by took at least a lingering look at Aphrodite's exposed cleavage.
"But why? It's always so fun to mess with mortals' minds." Aphrodite said as she strode alongside Percy. Percy groaned and took a glance at his watch to make sure they weren't going to be late.
Of course, they were behind schedule. Why wouldn't they be?
"We're going to miss the plane if you keep holding everybody up." Percy reasoned. "And you wouldn't want us to miss the plane, 'cause if that happened, you would have to teleport us to New York."
"No I wouldn't." Aphrodite said simply.
"Oh, and why not?"
"I'm a goddess. I'm the goddess." Aphrodite said confidently. Percy chuckled.
"And what would you propose we do if we missed it?" Percy asked. Aphrodite opened her mouth to come up with an answer, but no sound came out. "Exactly."
"Hmph. Fine, I'll put my jacket on for you." Aphrodite pouted, emphasizing her reference to the demigod beside her. It seemed that even when she didn't get what she wanted, the goddess of love was able to spin the situation into her favor. It was highly annoying.
"Thank you." Percy said as Aphrodite fished out her hoodie from her very expensive looking purse and pulled it on gracefully. "Now we gotta hurry. We only have a few minutes."
"Whatever you say, honey." Aphrodite said, waving at a passing young man as she did so. Percy rolled his eyes and picked up his pace. Thankfully, the San Francisco airport wasn't too crowded, allowing Percy and Aphrodite to push through and walk at basically their desired pace.
Aphrodite had teleported them into an empty bathroom stall in the airport earlier, causing Percy to be both very uncomfortable at the enclosed space they shared and confused as to why they were in a stall in the first place. Thankfully, they had been able to safely make their way out of the women's bathroom, though not without some stares from some confused and disgusted looking people.
Obviously, Aphrodite resorted to simply winking at said people. What else would you honestly expect from her?
"Alright, this is our flight." Percy said finally as they reached a line of presumed passengers who were waiting to get accepted onto the plane. "You have the tickets, right?"
"Of course." Aphrodite said, producing two first class tickets from her purse. Sadly, they would be seated next to each other, giving them the opportunity to engage in the "chat" that Aphrodite so desperately wanted to have.
"Why'd you get first class? Doesn't that cost a lot?" Percy asked as Aphrodite handed him the tickets. The goddess shrugged and smiled.
"Percy, dear, you keep forgetting I'm a goddess." Aphrodite reasoned, as if that explained every action she's ever taken part in. "And I'd hate to be seated next to a slobbering mess or behind someone so rude as to lean their chair back all the way."
"I guess that's reasonable." Percy mumbled. "I haven't been on a lot of airplanes."
"Probably for the best." Aphrodite said. She whistled as the people in front of them slowly forwarded.
It was odd. Aphrodite was so carefree and playful at times, but she had spurts of calmness, of some version of normality. In between her flirtatious, playful, and easygoing attitudes were small sections of being somewhat serious and even wise.
Percy glanced over to see Aphrodite wink and wave at the blushing employee checking everyone's tickets.
Okay, maybe wise was a little generous.
"So what did you want to talk about?" Percy asked, deciding to get it all over with. To this, Aphrodite tsked and wagged her finger at the demigod.
"Oh no, you aren't getting off the hook that easily." she said. "Once we're seated and perfectly comfortable without any possible escape, we can chat."
"Fantastic." Percy said, clicking his tongue. Finally, it was their turn to hand their tickets over to the employee, who was still blushing furiously at Aphrodite's actions.
Silently, the employee took the tickets and quickly scanned them before handing them back and giving them a quick thanks.
The demigod and goddess passed the employee and made their way onto the airplane, finding their seats quite easily seeing as they were right next to each other towards the front of the plane. Percy didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised that the seats looked nice enough, with a large amount of space so that he wouldn't feel claustrophobic the whole flight.
Sadly though, it looked like Aphrodite and Percy would be seated next to each other, isolated from everyone else, with no escape except for maybe a half-ass excuse that he needed to use the restroom. A pod-like structure surrounded their seats, with a sliding door available to fully encase them and give them complete privacy from the rest of the flight's occupants.
"How long is the flight?" Percy asked. Aphrodite giggled and lightly pushed him toward his seat.
"You have six lovely hours with me, dear. Consider yourself lucky." Aphrodite said as she took her seat next to Percy and placed her purse under her seat. Percy himself groaned and placed his stuffed duffle bag under his own seat.
"Tell me that door doesn't have a lock on it." Percy pleaded. Aphrodite looked over and slid the door closed, exposing a lock that Aphrodite happily clicked into place. "Perfect."
"And you took the window seat, so there's no escape once we get up in the air." Aphrodite giggled. Percy groaned and lightly banged his head against the side of the plane.
"I could always ask Zeus to strike me where I stand." Percy joked. Aphrodite giggled and leaned against Percy's shoulder, effectively freezing him in his place.
"Then how would you be able to join the mile high club?" Percy shivered and shook his head at the very explicit question. Still, Percy managed to humor her.
"Um… what-what do you mean?" Percy stuttered. Aphrodite giggled and leaned deeper into the crook of Percy's neck.
"That's still a thing isn't it?" Aphrodite asked. "We could do it right now…"
"Well, we-we're not even in the air yet." Percy stuttered.
"Good point." Aphrodite said. "I guess we'll have to wait a little." the goddess quickly kissed Percy on the cheek - a little too close to his mouth if you asked him - and retreated from her earlier position on Percy's shoulder.
"We'll have to wait." Percy muttered as the flight attendant began to give instructions over the speaker about emergency exits and safety precautions. It was all really boring to Percy, really. He couldn't follow instructions for the life of him.
After a few minutes, they were in the air, and Percy was holding onto the armrests of his chair for dear life. He hated flying.
Aphrodite saw this and patted Percy on the chest comfortingly, causing him to only flinch before he slightly relaxed. Eventually, the plane stopped rising and began to steady, allowing Percy to loosen his grip on his armrests. Thankfully, the plane didn't hit a loose rock every couple of seconds and allowed Percy to not get scared shitless because of turbulence.
"Alright, so we good now?" Percy asked. "Let's get this conversation over with." Aphrodite sighed and nodded.
"I guess so." Aphrodite said. "So, I know I said I would make your love life a little complicated, but I didn't realize it would get this complicated."
"What do you mean?" Percy asked. "Calypso? I mean, I guess that's a little more complicated than me spending the rest of my life with Annabeth." Percy grumbled bitterly.
"You're so cute when you're naive." Aphrodite teased. A look of confusion and disgust appeared onto Percy's face.
"Naive?" Percy asked, composing himself and settling for a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, Percy, naive." Aphrodite said. Percy began to think that Aphrodite was getting a tiny bit serious. Even if the topic of the conversation was his love life, he began to take her seriously just by her change in tone. "Sure, Calypso's a nice added bonus to your interesting little love life. But you're missing a few things, as usual. What did Annabeth call you? Seaweed Brain?"
"Don't call me that." Percy commanded quickly. "And what do you mean? You're speaking in riddles and being really vague."
"That's on purpose, dear." Aphrodite said, "Just think for a second. What are you missing?" Percy groaned at Aphrodite's vagueness.
"Let me guess, I still haven't gotten over Annabeth and everybody's deaths and I suck at grieving?" Percy asked, practically spitting out sarcasm as he echoed the opinions of what seemed like everyone he knew.
"Well, that wasn't what I was going to say, but you're correct." Aphrodite said, eliciting yet another groan from Percy. "There's another variable in your equation."
"What?" Percy asked confused. "Holy Hades, Aphrodite, just please say what you know."
"Oh but I like this fun little game." Aphrodite giggled. Percy shook his head.
"You know what, on the other hand, you don't have to tell me. Honestly, I don't even care." Percy said.
"Hmph. You're no fun." Aphrodite pouted. "Fine. Artemis."
"What about Artemis?" Percy asked, his attention being slightly piqued at the mention of the moon goddess. Only slightly, though.
"You don't know it, and I'm pretty sure she doesn't even know it, but you two have… a connection." Aphrodite said, creating a dramatic pause to torture Percy even more.
"Did you really just say connection?" Percy asked. He would've jumped out of his seat had he not been wearing a seatbelt, which he quickly tightened in remembering he was on an airplane. "And what the Hades does that even mean?"
"You know what it means." Aphrodite said, giggling at Percy's flustered behavior.
"No I don't." Percy spat.
"I think you do."
"No." Percy retorted with as much wit he could muster, earning a knowing look from Aphrodite. He exhaled deeply and nodded. "Yeah, I think I know what it means."
"Great!" Aphrodite squealed and hugged Percy who sat there as Aphrodite quickly embraced him.
"But why?" Percy asked, exasperated.
"Like you haven't checked yourself out in a mirror." Aphrodite teased, placing a hand underneath his shirt and rubbing his abs. "And having a half-decent personality's a plus."
"But she's a maiden goddess!" Percy burst. Aphrodite giggled and leaned against Percy's shoulder.
"That's why it's so interesting! Finally, after a millennia of her sticking to her stupid rules, she's in love." Aphrodite said. At this point, Percy paid no attention to the close contact with Aphrodite. He was so stunned and confused that he could barely speak.
"But what do you mean, she doesn't know it? How could she not know it?" Percy asked. "And I definitely don't love her. That would be practically suicide."
"Hmm." Aphrodite tapped a finger to her chin and smiled. "You'll just have to wait and see. It'll be fun to watch."
"I'm sure it will." Percy mumbled. "Is that all or do I have a third nonexistent lover? Wait let me guess, Annabeth's gonna come back from the dead?"
"No, silly, although that would make for quite an ordeal." Aphrodite said, looking off into the distance as if she was fantasizing the scenario. "That was all. I just wanted to tell you how exciting life gets from here."
"I wouldn't call it exciting." Percy said.
"Oh, but it is! Considering you haven't gotten any action in 5 years, clinging onto the same girl who's been dead for half a decade. This is exciting!" Aphrodite said. Percy rolled his eyes and lightly pulled off of Aphrodite, who's hand was still roaming Percy's chest underneath his shirt. The goddess pouted as her nails lightly scratched Percy's skin while she pulled away.
"I'm glad my love life is still the most interesting thing in your life right now." Percy grumbled.
"Oh no, there's a good amount of subjects I find interesting. You just happen to be the one I can interact with most." Aphrodite said, flicking a speck of dirt off her jeans.
"So I'm like a dog." Percy stated. "A small puppy that you can play with every now and then."
"I don't think that's a perfect analogy, but if you want to be a puppy, I'm not going to argue with you." Aphrodite said. Percy shook his head and attempted to wiggle his way out of the conversation topic.
"Aren't you violating some sort of Ancient Law by being here? I thought you gods were supposed to have limited exposure to mortals." Percy asked. Aphrodite shrugged.
"Honestly, we break the Ancient Laws all the time. I see it more of a list of guidelines than unforgiving rules that can't ever be broken." Aphrodite said. Percy scoffed, causing Aphrodite playfully slapped him on the shoulder. "Oh don't give me that. You're just as hypocritical as the gods you find so distasteful."
"Really?" Percy asked with a raised eyebrow. Aphrodite nodded and crossed her legs.
"All mortals are. In your case, you just happen to isolate yourself from everyone. You'rr honestly as angsty as fucking Batman, it's kinda annoying." Aphrodite explained. "You go and say you can't get close to anyone, and then you book a plane to Camp Half-Blood where all your old friends are!"
"If I thought it wasn't necessary to go, I wouldn't go." Percy said simply. Aphrodite smirked and nodded her head in faux agreement.
"Oh yeah, I'm sure you wouldn't." Aphrodite said. After a moment of silence between the two, where Aphrodite busied herself by inspecting her hair in a small, circular mirror, Percy spoke up.
"Speaking of Camp Half-Blood, are you just supposed to show up and say the Goddess of Love is gracing everybody's presence just because she wants to?" Percy asked.
"Of course not. I'll think of something when we get there." Aphrodite said, not taking her attention away from her mirror.
"Don't you think it would be better if we were on the same page? Shouldn't we think of something before we arrive?" Percy asked.
"But where would be the fun in that?" Aphrodite asked, causing yet another groan. "Oh stop your pouting." Aphrodite pecked him on the cheek and returned to her hair. Percy put his head in his hands and informed the goddess beside him that he was going to try and get some shut eye.
Percy had a feeling that this adventure was far from over.
Who did he have to thank? Was it Aphrodite herself or some external, all-forgiving primordial who allowed Percy to sleep somewhat peacefully for nearly the rest of the flight. The only hitch in his sleep was the waking up part, when he realized that Aphrodite was leaning on his shoulder, her head propping up his own.
As expected, the goddess had giggled as if it was the funniest thing in the world when Percy had quickly shrugged Aphrodite off of him and cleared his throat awkwardly.
Thankfully, he had woken up when they were only a few minutes left until they landed, leaving Percy to stress only about the rocky landing that they experienced. Seriously, when the plane first hit the ground and Percy nearly jumped out of his seat, he thought he might get a heart attack and just die on the spot.
After that little incident, the process to get to Camp Half-Blood had been fairly simple. Well, fairly for a demigod. The two had exited the airport with only about every other male taking a lingering glance on a winking or giggling Aphrodite, and Percy was able to call something slightly better than a cab.
It had been a long, long time since he rode on a pegasus, or even talked to one.
For Blackjack, he made it seem like the 5 years had been only a few days. They were able to joke around and banter without it feeling forced or awkward, which Percy appreciated more than he could admit. For some reason, Blackjack's immediate request for a bowl of sugar cubes was more endearing than annoying.
The ride to Long Island was familiar yet foreign. The smell of New York and the feeling of wind rushing against his cheeks took him back to a time when Blackjack would regularly aid Percy in getting to some places. But there were some things that were unfamiliar at the same time.
For one, in the past, Percy never had a goddess riding behind him while gripping his chest a little too tightly - her hands would literally feel up his abs under his shirt - and sitting a little too close.
Still, Percy was able to get through the borderline molestation and was a mixture of anxious and anticipation when Blackjack dropped them off at Half Blood Hill. As Aphrodite muttered about getting mud on her shoes, Percy rolled his eyes and strode toward the pine tree that had once been his formerly dead cousin.
The intimidating and powerful dragon that protected the Golden Fleece was snoozing on the ground.
Percy chuckled and softly patted the dragon on the head before leading Aphrodite through the border.
"So, you figure out your secret identity yet?" Percy asked, glancing to the side at Aphrodite. She smiled and shrugged.
Percy sighed and rolled his eyes as they strolled past the volleyball courts and toward the Big House.
"We should talk to Chiron and Mr. D first. Then we can ask Rachel." Percy stated.
"The oracle?" Aphrodite asked, perking up. Percy nodded, earning a wide grin from the goddess. "It's rather sad that we couldn't stretch out that little love triangle."
"Please, don't remind me." Percy groaned.
"It was so fun to watch!" Aphrodite exclaimed. "You were so cute, being so naive and awkward."
"Pretty sure I'm still both those things. Not the cute part, but the naive and awkward." Percy said.
"But young love is so fun to watch!" Aphrodite said wistfully.
"Are you calling me old?" Percy asked.
"Not in the slightest. You start to feel old about 700 years into your life." Aphrodite said.
"I have a feeling I'm not getting anywhere close to that." Percy said. "But never say never, I guess."
"Such a great song." Aphrodite said. Percy rolled his eyes at the mention of the pop star and instead turned his attention to the demigods roaming the camp.
If there was one thing he could take from seeing the laughing, playing, and training demigods, it was that there were a lot more campers than 5 years prior. It seemed like you couldn't go 50 feet without bumping into a demigod, satyr, centaur, or any other mythical creature.
Percy smiled as he felt a bubble of pride spread within him. They had succeeded. The gods were listening. Sons and daughters of both major and minor gods were getting help and by the looks of it, everyone was getting claimed. Everyone had a place. Everyone had a family.
"See?" Aphrodite said, noticing Percy's smile. "Even the gods can realize their mistakes."
"If I remember correctly, it took me forcing the oath of the Styx onto you." Percy scoffed. Aphrodite shrugged and nodded.
"True, but it's a process. At least we're trying." Aphrodite said. After a moment of silence, Aphrodite spoke again, "Percy."
The demigod turned his gaze to Aphrodite and realized what she was referencing when he noticed her stern and smiling expression.
"Oh, don't give me that." Percy said, shaking his head. "I have plenty of time to decide what to do."
"You're not immortal, Percy." Aphrodite said. Percy sighed and shook his head.
"I guess I'll think about it." Percy said, earning an appreciative nod and smirk. "No promises though."
"Of course." Aphrodite said. "I could always make you swear on the Styx."
"I wouldn't consent to it." Percy joked, earning a laugh - not a giggle - from the goddess of love. Percy smiled and shook his head as they found themselves at the steps of the Big House (please don't think any less of me because my jokes are bad. Or do).
"They are both in there." Aphrodite said, referencing the heads of the camp. Percy nodded, trusting Aphrodite, and led the two into the cabin.
Percy inhaled through his nose, sucking in as much air as he could.
He exhaled. His breath was shaky and hitched.
It hadn't hit me fully until now. He was back at Camp Half-Blood. A handful of his old friends were probably teaching younger campers at this very moment.
Chiron, mentor and father figure, was somewhere on the other side of this door. He was probably lecturing a camper about not staying up past curfew or welcoming a newcomer to their godly parent's cabin.
Percy stepped up to the door and took another deep breath.
Mr. D would probably call him Perry Johnson after he took a sip of wine. He would probably be hungover with sunglasses on to darken the blinding lights. He would insult and ignore Percy in his stupid casual attire and complain about his century-long sentence overlooking the camp.
And Percy would smile.
Because deep down, he missed this. He missed everything.
Percy pushed the door open, and a bright, genuine smile immediately lit up his face.
Of course Chiron and Mr. D would be playing pinochle and talking nonsense. Why didn't he think of it before? That was basically the only thing they did besides help the camp.
Chiron was in his wheelchair and Mr. D was slouched on his own. Both looked toward the slowly opening door. Both looked surprised and confused.
"Percy?"
'Perry?"
Percy laughed and wide smile full of joy lit up his face. It was perfect.
"So, what truly brings you back here, my boy?" Chiron asked, leaning forward in his wheelchair. "As much as I love to see you, I would be a fool to believe you don't have a reason for being here."
"You know me too well, Chiron." Percy said, smiling. "We were wondering if you knew anything about the incoming threat."
"We?" Aphrodite practically squealed.
"Sadly, I don't know much about these attacks, or what has caused these disturbances." Chiron said, ignoring the woman beside Percy. They had been talking for quite awhile now, with Percy retelling what he had been doing for five years while Chiron informed them how camp was going.
"That's okay. Mr. D?" Percy asked. The god shrugged and his sunglasses slipped farther down his nose.
"I only know as much the council has said." the god said. Percy nodded, accepting that it was a long shot anyways. Rachel still hopefully had something to give them.
"That's alright. I'm going to visit Rachel and ask her if she can tell us anything." Percy said.
"She has her own cabin near Apollo's." Chiron informed. "We decided it would be best if she wasn't isolated."
"That's good." Percy said. "It was nice to see you both. Really, I'll come back right after we talk to Rachel. It was good catching up with you."
"It was nice seeing you too, Percy." Chiron said fondly, smiling as he patted Percy on his back. "And Percy, please know that you won't be able to fend off attacks forever."
"I know, Chiron." Percy said. It was nice to have Chiron worrying about him again.
"You will always have a home here." Chiron said.
"Thank you, Chiron." Percy said again, smiling and chuckling.
"And one more thing." Chiron said. "Who is this?" Chiron asked, glancing at the woman sitting next to Percy, who had been watching and staying silent the whole conversation.
"Oh, her?" Percy asked. "Nobody of consequence." Percy got up and pulled Aphrodite out of her seat. He began to practically drag her toward the door.
"That's not true." Aphrodite pouted.
"I'll be back for dinner at the Mess Hall, Chiron. I'll see you later!" Percy called as he pulled the door open and dragged Aphrodite through.
"Goodbye Perseus!" Chiron called back, amused at Percy's flustered nature. Percy shook his head as Aphrodite giggled while leaning against shoulder.
"That was fun!" Aphrodite said, causing Percy to lightly push Aphrodite off of him.
"Let's never do that again." Percy said. "Come on, we gotta go see Rachel."
"Come on, Percy! That was good for you!" Aphrodite said.
"Sure it was." Percy grumbled. "Let's go."
The two walked in silence, with Aphrodite occasionally "accidentally" tripping and stumbling into Percy's arms. As they made their way to Rachel's cabin, Percy began to notice demigods and creatures alike stare at the pair and whisper to each other. He attempted to ignore it, but after a while, he couldn't take it anymore.
"Why is everyone staring at us?" Percy asked. "I mean I get that I haven't been here in awhile, but…"
"Oh, I'm pretty sure everyone thinks we're together." Aphrodite said simply.
"What?" Percy asked, his eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.
"Yeah, it can't be helped, I guess. A handsome man and a drop-dead gorgeous woman walking and flirting together just screams 'couple'." Aphrodite exclaimed.
"We haven't been flirting!" Percy exclaimed. Aphrodite nodded and patted him on the back.
"Sure we haven't, Percy. Sure we haven't." Aphrodite smiled and turned back towards their destination. They were in front of the Apollo cabin now, and to the right of it, a smaller, but still generous cabin not dissimilar to Apollo's stood with the symbol of an eye etched into the door.
"Lovely." Aphrodite said, smacking her lips. Percy rolled his eyes and walked over to knock on the door.
After a fraction of a second of Percy realizing there was a good chance Rachel wasn't even in her cabin, the door flung open and Percy was met with a pair of emerald green eyes and a mountain of frizzy red hair.
"Percy." Rachel said, staring into Percy's own eyes. "I've been expecting you."
"You have?" Percy asked, impressed at Rachel's newfound capabilities.
"Nah, I'm just messing with you." Rachel teased, leaning against the doorway. "It's good to see you, Percy." Rachel said seriously.
"It's good to see you too." Percy said.
"So, is this visit business or pleasure?" Rachel asked with a smile spreading on her face.
"Um, business. Although pleasure later once we're done with the business part." Percy stuttered. Aphrodite giggled at Percy's awkwardness and caused Rachel's attention to shift onto the unknown companion.
"And who is this?" Rachel asked curiously, running her hand through her hair as she did so.
"Just a friend." Percy said quickly. Aphrodite gasped and slapped Percy's shoulder playfully.
"Sure, just a friend." Rachel repeated. "Alright, come in, come in. We'll see if I can help." Percy thanked his old friend as the Oracle stepped aside and allowed demigod and goddess to enter the cabin.
The inside of the cabin was not dissimilar from many of the other cabins. It was much smaller than the other cabins, but the simplicity was similar. It was a large cabin, with every possible necessity for a shelter fit into one giant room. A red bed was placed on one side of the room while a bookshelf sat on the other. Paintings were hung up on the walls and stray canvases lay on the floor.
Various carpets and rugs covered the normally barren wooden floor, and symbols unrecognizable to Percy were etched into occasional logs along the walls.
"Rachel, we were wondering if you had any information or prophecy regarding the odd occurrences that have recently happened." Percy explained after the three had settled into a rather large and soft couch in a corner of the room.
"Hmm." Rachel immediately tapped her chin with a slender finger and closed her eyes in concentration. Percy practically held his breath as he waited for green smoke to trail out of her mouth as she recited an ominous and annoying prophecy. Both sadly and thankfully, this didn't happen. "My connection with the Oracle has grown considerably since we last saw each other."
Percy waited for an explanation, but after failing to receive one after several minutes, he cut through the silence: "What does that mean? Can you control your powers more?"
"Sort of." Rachel smiled. "I can tell you things without having the Oracle control me. And my powers aren't limited to reciting prophecies."
"Well… do you have a prophecy?" Percy asked. Rachel shook her head quickly. "But you can still receive one, right? The Oracle can still spew one out whenever it wants."
"I don't think so. If you were going to get a prophecy, I think you would've received one by now." Rachel informed, stretching her legs out and cracking her neck. Percy shuddered at the thought of another prophecy. He wasn't sure beforehand whether he would've preferred one or not. Having some structure to the solution to their problem would've been nice, but prophecies were always oh so foreboding and annoying.
"But I'm guessing that you know something?" Percy asked, taking a hint from her attitude and still wide smile.
"Yup." Rachel said, her smile slightly dimming. "You might not like it though."
"I'm used to it." Percy sighed. "Just lay it on us."
"Yes, please lay us." Aphrodite mumbled, still audible to both of the other occupants of the room. Aphrodite giggled at the stares of Rachel and Percy. "Proceed."
"Well, I don't know much, but from what I can tell, the balance is soon to shift." Rachel said ominously. Percy took a minute to process it.
"The balance? What does that even mean?" Percy noticed that he had asked that quite a lot recently.
"I don't know." Rachel shrugged. Percy shook his head, not bothering to point out it made absolutely zero sense how she knew and also didn't know at the same time. "All I know is that the balance will become undone, and a betrayal is imminent."
"The balance is going to become undone, and a betrayal is going to occur." Percy repeated, earning a nod from Rachel.
"How exciting!" Aphrodite exclaimed, clapping her hands together. Percy groaned and hid his face in his hands.
"I would've preferred a prophecy."
How'd you guys like it? Sorry for having his interaction with Chiron being so weird and short, I just didn't want this chapter to be all filler so I thought they could have a better talk in next chapter or the one after. The plot is still going alone, however a little slowly, so don't forget there's an actual plot and plan!
Goodluck on your guesses for what's going to happen, and see you next time!
Oh and here are the reviews.
HellRaiderS: Thank you my kind sir / ma'am
Warlord009: Glad you enjoyed it.
DKay37: Thanks for the encouragement, it means a lot, trust me. Aphrodite is definitely a change of pace from the depressing nature of some of this story, so it's fun to write and even if she is OOC, I like , huh? Cool. As I said before, I'll probably post early / late morning for US, so I think that might be noon or so for you, I don't know for sure though.
BJack12: Midday to late morning is pretty good for my target time. As for Aphrodite, yes her appearance is a mixture of the proposed pairings. I couldn't make it too easy now, could I?
udm17: Twas an interesting plane trip, fun to write, although I felt like I was going too overboard at times.
HotSox: Morning is good, as I said before, probably my target time. Thanks for the encouragement, always thrilling to see people loving what I love.
