14. Blame
Tomorrow is the paternity test. Izuku had a sickening feeling in his gut. Guilt and shame ruled his temperament. He was either crying or explosively angry. The students of class 1-A gave him space whenever he was in a mood. He told Uraraka what happened and Uraraka told the class. They felt bad for the three boys, but they all agreed that it was the right thing to do.
Despite Izuku breaking up with them, Shoto still felt like he was in a race for Izukus heart. He would be extra kind to him, giving him his lunch and buying him All Might merch. But Izuku refused it. He wanted to be completely separated from him. Shoto was heart broken. He didn't know what happened that night at the Bakugos dinner but he knew it was the blonde grunts doing. His aggression was faced towards Bakugo. Whenever he could he would throw ice at him, or make the floor ice for him to slip; even grabbing on to his uniform and burning it. This caused many fights that could only be stopped by Midnight. He still planned on being by Izukus side even if the baby wasn't his. He knew he couldn't let Bakugo have him.
Bakugo acted as if nothing happened. He continued life as if Izuku was never pregnant. He acted rude and rash to the people around him, his arrogant personality shined through, even though he was dying on the inside. He wouldn't show it but he was hurt by what Izuku said. He dumped Izuku so many times for so many different stupid reasons. He couldn't admit, not to himself, that he was an asshole to Izuku for a long time and used him when he wanted. But he didn't want Izuku to ever think that he never wanted him by his side. He did want to change for Izuku, but it was hard. He didn't want Izuku finding out that he didn't think he was good enough for the green teen. Izuku was so kind and caring; of course he would leave him for someone like Shoto. So he turned his aggression to that icyhot piece of shit. He would blow up his notes and push him in the hall. When they had the provisional license make up classes together he would go out of his way to block his view. He would even pick him to fight against in their training fights.
Class continued just the same. Present Mic stood at the front of the class, droning on about the lesson. Izuku wrote in his notebook, soaking in the lecture. Every now and then he would forget that he was even pregnant. Thinking about what they were going to do that day during the hero course training. He imagined how to improve his shoot style with the lesson Aizawa was going to teach. He would think about sparring against someone and how to use his quirk to his advantage, but then he would remember he was barred from any physical activity. His body would slump and his hand would go on his belly. A grumble of annoyance could be heard but he would move past it, and focus on the class.
Everything seemed okay on the surface. Unfortunately there was danger lurking below.
Lunch was a normal procedure. Izuku sat next to Iida, Shoto, and Uraraka. They talked about school and even about pro heros they liked the least.
"Endeavor," Shoto spoke with a flat tone. His friends knew he had a strained relationship with his dad, but only Izuku knew why.
"You can't say he's your least favorite, he's your father and the number one hero," Iida defended.
"That's why he's my least favorite hero," he didn't change his expression but he was angered.
"Yeah, in personality and history, he would have to be my least favorite too. Besides he's not very good with people," Izuku agreed, hoping that he would be a good grandpa at least.
"So aggressive but he gets the job done," Uraraka shrugged, "weren't you saved by him once? The time you three were in Hosu City?" The boys looked at eachother. Izuku chuckled.
"No the hero killer Stain saved me, then Endeavor captured him," he cleared up. Shoto stood up, his tray in hand.
"Do you want me to take your dishes?" He offered.
"Sure, be careful. I still have some beef stew left," Izuku handed his food over, "thank you,". He turned to the other two students. They shook their heads. He left them.
"You should finish your food! You're eating for two!" Uraraka wagged her finger.
"Actually," Iida spoke up, "he only needs 300 to 500 extra calories than normal," he chopped his hand. Izuku and Uraraka stared at him. "I told my mom on Sunday about your pregnancy. She told me all about pregnancy and different tips for you. Oh she wanted me to recommend keeping your feet up for swelling," he recalled. Izuku smiles. He noted how sweet Iida acted.
"Tell her thanks. My mom told me to do that too. I've put in a requ-" there was a large crash out near them. Izuku saw Bakugo covered in his beef stew, with Shoto holding an empty bowl over his head. The cafeteria went quiet.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" Bakugo snapped at Shoto.
"I was taking this to the nearest garbage," he spoke aggressively.
"I'll go tell Midnight," Uraraka sighed, standing up.
"YOU FUCKING SHIT FACED BITCH," Bakugo screamed, "YOU THINK YOU'RE CUTE?" Izuku rested his head in his palms, being through this exact argument before.
"He's going to say-"
"I'm adorable," Shoto let out a smirk.
"He said it," Izuku sighed, "now Kacchan is going-"
"Fight me jackass!" Bakugo challenged. Shoto started burning, tossing the bowl aside, shattering it against the floor . Bakugo shook off the food, then started sparking. Shoto shot at him with a wall of flame. The students around them gasped. Bakugo stood still, covering his face. After the flame attack, Bakugo stood straight, holding his arms out. The students surrounding them moved out of the way. The teen blasted away the tables and chairs around them as he shot at Shoto. Shoto shielded himself in ice. Bakugo was able to take chunks out of the ice, sending them flying at the students.
"Okay I'm done," Izuku stood up. "If you two are going to fight, take it outside! You hurt someone last time!" Izuku shouted at them. They looked at him then back to Izuku and nodded. They ran outside of the cafeteria. Izuku sighed, sitting back down.
"If you can get them to go outside, why don't you stop them," Iida asked.
"I've tried," Izuku recalled that Tuesday Shoto and Bakugo were fighting. Izuku got between them, telling them that they needed to calm down and act like adults. Bakugo quickly spat back saying that he wouldn't listen to an ex-boyfriend. Shoto simply told Izuku to stay out of it. Izuku flicked his hand, pushing air between the two, pushing them apart. Shoto literally froze him out by walling him in ice. He knocked the ice out of the way, shouting at them. That fight ended up with the three duking it out in the school entrance.
"but that just ended up with all of us fighting," Izuku stood up and finished. He grabbed the tables and started pushing them back into their place. Iida and other students started helping him. They finished putting the room back in order. Izuku relaxed into his seat again, holding his belly, "But I'll go out there in a few minutes," a giant explosion caught everyone's attention, "or I'll go now,".
Outside Shoto and Bakugo were standing opposite each other. There were frozen waves half blown up, and craters in the ground. Bakugo was shirtless and Shoto was wearing a tanktop. By the time Iida and Izuku made it outside Bakugo was pulling his legs free from the ice climbing around him.
"I have to stop them," Iida started walking towards them.
"I wouldn't do that," Izuku reached out to him, "they need to get their anger out, and they won't kill each other,"
"I'LL KILL YOU, BASTARD!" Bakugo threatened. Izuku smiled and waved them off.
"They'll be fine," he turned his back to the brawlers, "I haven't seen them go as hard as they did in the sports festival, so they're good," Izuku turned back and watched them, "I also want to watch them a little bit longer,". Iida looked at them.
"Why?" he asked. Izuku focused on the boys sweaty toned muscles as they moved. He blushed.
"Notes," he lied.
Shoto and Bakugo shot at the same time, fire against fire. As the ice melted underneath Bakugo, Shoto switched to his ice powers, freezing the water under Bakugo. The energy from his hands pushed him back on the ice, causing him to lose his footing. He shot out as he fell on his face. The blast missed Shoto, going right for Izuku. The green boy pushed Iida back, the fire attack barely missing them.
Izuku fell on Iida causing both of them to fall to the ground.
"Deku!"
"Izuku!" they shouted together. They ran over to the fallen teen just as Midnight and principal Nezu came outside.
"Deku, why the hell were you out here," Bakugo kneeled downs and pulled him to his chest.
"I didn't know you were here, you could have gotten hurt!" Shoto showed fear on his face. He placed both of his hands on Izukus shoulders. The cold and heat of his hands, and the carmel smell of Bakugo was very comforting to the green boy.
"I came out here to stop you two," he pushed himself up off of Bakugo. Iida dusted his uniform off, and helped the pregnant boy up. Shoto and Bakugo shot up still hovering over him.
"Midoriya, are you okay?" Nezu looked to the boy.
"Yeah, near miss, but I'm good," he smiled.
"Don't smile like that, nerd! Shoto could have killed you!" Bakugo pulled him to his body again.
"I could have killed him?" Shoto repeated angrily.
"Are you deaf? Yeah! If you didn't make me slip, my attack wouldn't have gone haywire," Izuku tried pulling away, but Bakugo wasn't letting go.
"It was your attack, if you kept to yourself he wouldn't even be in this mess," Shoto frowned, "If you kept your hands off my boyfriend, he would still be mine!" his true feeling showed.
"Dumbass, I was with him first in-"
"In middle school! I know! I know now that you kept dumping him! You don't deserve him!" Shoto revealed that he knew more than he let on. Bakugo let Izuku go, holding his hand up.
"You're own mother didn't love you! Why the fuck would you think Izuku loves you," Izuku realized he my have talked to Bakugo about Shotos family life. Shoto didn't say anything but froze Bakugos feet to the ground again.
"I'll kill you," he uttered.
"Now stop-" Izuku stepped between them as Shoto threw a fire attack. Everyone froze as the fire engulfed Izukus back. As quick as he threw the attack, Shoto quickly put him out with ice.
"Deku!" Bakugo watched the shock filled Izukus face.
"Midoriya!" Midnight and Nezu grabbed his arms, holding him up. Shoto reached out to touch the burnt fabric and flesh. Iida put his hands up stopping both of the boys.
"Stop it!" All you've been doing is hurting each other and Izuku! You nearly killed him once, wasn't that enough?!" The speed teen shot daggers at the two.
"Iida," Izuku stood up straight, holding himself up without assistance, "I'm okay, they didn't mean it. It's my fault for getting in the way," he smiled. Midnight glared at them.
"Midoriya, love is pain, but there is a limit," she pulled him along, "let's get you to Recovery Girl and a new uniform,". She took him inside the building. The three boys watched him, then turned their attention to their principal.
"You two need to follow me," he smiled, "And please, keep your uniforms on,".
