"Not everything will be as you think" - Alaska
Edmund sat in front of Fleurine as she leaned her body weight on him. The chair she was sitting in was moving backwards and kept pushing her more into Edmund. Eventually she was on the floor crying as Edmund held her. Everything that had happened was sinking in.
"It's going to be ok" he said "I'm here"
She didn't respond, they were there for quite some time until she said something.
"I'd like to go to sleep" she said
"As you wish"
He helped her up and walked her to her room. After she changed she let him in.
"Can you stay for a bit?" she asked
"Of course"
She gestured for him to go under the covers and he rubbed his neck unsure.
"Are you sure? The others may think something else is going on"
"I'm sure, and besides you can leave after I fall asleep" she said with a weak smile.
He crawled in bed and she rested her head on him. After she fell asleep he set her up comfortably and went to his own room to figure out how he would explain the arrival of Mila.
He woke up early the next morning to practice what he would say, after he got ready he knocked on Fleurine's door. There wasn't an answer and he slowly opened to see she was still sleeping. He closed the door and sat down next to her, feeling the movement she woke up.
"Good morning beautiful" he said
"Good morning" she said with a smile
"How are you feeling?"
"A little better, but not by much"
He smiled briefly as he started to tell her about Mila.
"Fleurine, I'm afraid I have news that may make you feel worse"
"What is it? Did something happen?" She said as she sat up with concern.
"No, but something might. When we first met you remember I was heading to Telmar with my sister?"
She nodded her head.
"Well apparently the King Abasban liked me so much that he sent his daughter to win my affections"
He looked down and rubbed his neck.
"Maybe I should go home" she answered
"What? No you can't leave"
"But why not? Princess Mila's beauty is talked about everywhere, surely she'll have no issue making you love her."
"But what about you?" he said
"What about me?"
"There's no way she rivals you"
"Thank you but I doubt it. It's ok, really" she said
"Fleurine, I don't even want to meet her. Please stay" he said as he took her hand.
"Are you sure? What if she comes and you don't want anything to do with me?" she asked
"How could I not want anything to do with you? You're wonderful" he said with a loving smile
She smiled back and kissed him sweetly. They shared an embrace and then heard trumpets in the distance.
"She's here" he said "I'll go greet her with my siblings, when you're ready to join us please do. I will make my feelings towards you clear to her"
"Ok, I trust you" she said
He gave her a few more deep and passionate kisses and left. After he was gone Fleurine changed into a blue dress, which was sure to make her eyes look striking. The dress, just like the other narnian dresses, was not something familiar to us but it was still beautiful none the less. And the lightweight wool fabric was both practical and beautifully textured.
Meanwhile outside a large and elaborate carriage stopped at the steps of the stairs. A beautiful bronze like women with shiny black hair stepped out of the carriage. The rumors about her beauty were very true. The Pevensies stood at the top of the stairs as she gracefully made her way up. When she reached the top they all bowed, through the exchange Mila kept thinking of how Peter was quite charming.
"It is very nice to meet your majesties" said Mila, her voice smooth
"You as well your highness" said Peter "I am High King Peter, these are my siblings; High Queen Susan, King Edmund and Queen Lucy"
Mila smiled and curtsied, when she rose she saw a women with a blue dress make her way outside. She clearly was not royalty but she still had a gentle elegance about her. She raised a brow as Edmund brought his arm around her waist and stared at Mila to signal the relationship.
"My father did not tell me of your relationship your Majesty" she said
"That would be because I did not mention it" he replied
"It is a new relationship" added Susan
Mila smiled, she thought following her fathers orders would be easy but with this girl in the way it could be difficult. But her father would most certainly not oppose her and Peter becoming an item and so she decided to switch directions, but first she had to find out who the girl was.
"What is your name dear?" Mila said
"It's Fleurine, your highness" she said as she curtseyed.
"What a pleasure to make your acquaintance," she paused "should I go back to Telmar? I wouldn't want to ruin this relationship" she said
"Not at all you may stay as long as you wish" said Peter "Please let me show you to your room"
As Mila went inside with Peter the rest of them stood there confused.
"That was odd" said Lucy
"Quite" Susan replied
"Do you think she'll be an issue for us?" Edmund asked
"I don't believe so, hopefully she'll turn her attention towards Peter" said Susan
"Hopefully indeed" Fleurine replied.
They all went inside and waited in the living room for lunchtime. Fleurine and Susan each had a book, Lucy was drawing and Edmund was writing in a ledger when an erruption of noises from upstairs made them all stop and look up.
