Chapter 14: Purple Coins
[BGM: Rosalina in the Observatory 3 – Super Mario Galaxy]
"…I am never doin' manta-ray surfing ever again…" Ryuji muttered as he was soaking wet after he and the Phantom Thieves came back from Loopdeeswoop Galaxy with a Star.
"I will admit that maneuvering a manta-ray is hard." Ren admitted. "But I think you went too far with that."
"Whatever, man…"
"Well, at least we got the Power Star." Makoto said. "Now we better get ourselves dry and wait for the others." they all agreed and walked off, right as Sonic, Lacey, Kino and Nene came flying back with the Power Stars they got from Toy Time's Fast Foe Comet, Rolling Gizmo Galaxy and Bubble Blast Galaxy respectively.
"Heh, piece of cake." Sonic grinned, looking down at the Power Star he held.
"Too nerve-racking, meh…" Kino mumbled. "Big sis almost blew Kino into a fence!"
"Very-very sorry, Kino. But hey, at least we did it!" Nene winked at the last sentence as she held the Star.
"Yep!" Kino cheered up.
Lacey glanced at the Power Star on her hand with a bright smile. "I'm getting good at rolling balls!" she chirped.
Meanwhile, Rosalina, Polari and Melissa were watching the group that just returned and smiled to see that they managed to recover the Power Stars from the three Galaxies at the Planet of Trials. Now only the Garden Stars remained. However, when Rosalina glanced down at the Power Star counter in the middle and then at the map, she realized that after collecting all of the Garden's Power Stars, including its Prankster Comets, 17 of them would still be missing, and these weren't registered on the map yet. She wondered where would these last 17 Stars be, until she looked up at the Gate… and something came up to her.
"Hmm, I wonder if…" she thought, and then addressed Polari and Melissa, "Polari, Melissa, I'm heading over to the Gate. If the rest comes back, please let them know."
"Okay, aunt Rosie." Melissa nodded along with Polari, and Rosalina took off.
"I wonder why she decided to head to the Gate all of a sudden?" Polari wondered.
"You know, Polari… I believe I know why." Melissa said to him with a smile. "And I think even my sister knows."

Speaking of which…
[BGM: Melty Molten Galaxy – Super Mario Galaxy]
Melty Molten Galaxy is quite large, made completely of lava and rock. It is situated between two stars, a red one and a light purple one, with large streams of plasma pouring from the former to the latter. There are many Launch Stars here for travel, as the main planet is very massive, and there are also some planetoids around it. On the starting planet, Jewel and her team landed next to a volcano and the intense heat of this galaxy immediately started to kick in for them all.
"Golly, it's hot out here!" Luigi exclaimed, waving his face.
"Eh, it's not so bad." Incineroar said.
"Yeah, considering you're a Fire-type Pokémon!" Daisy reminded. "I'm dying in here!"
"I'll admit, this place is hotter than Bowser's Kingdom, so I'm with Luigi and Daisy here." Mario said, rubbing his forehead. "What about you two, Jewel and Kirby?"
"I don't really mind the heat that much." Jewel shrugged.
"I think Halcandra is way hotter than this." Kirby said.
"Look, let's just all get a move on before you three actually die from the heat, okay?" Jewel ushered as her team nodded and walked around, with Kirby inhaling one of the Li'l Cinders to turn into Fire Kirby where he breathed fire on two torches to light them up and make a Launch Star appear as he went in.
The others moved on ahead while Jewel was gathering some Star Bits, eventually coming upon a branched pathway across the lava as there were sinking platforms on the left and a series of smaller sinking platforms on the right. In the end, Luigi, Daisy and Jewel chose to head left while Mario and Incineroar went right. Both groups had to climb up a wall by doing some wall jumps while avoiding some steam jets, and at the top, the latter group went down a Warp Pipe and the former group got into two Sling Stars to reach the Launch Star on top of the volcano, causing it to erupt behind the trio as soon as they went flying.
After that, the trio quickly used another Sling Star to land safely on a Small Glass planet as Luigi and Daisy used the Pull Stars to navigate around the Lava planets that were shooting out fireballs, while Jewel fed a Hungry Luma 80 Star Bits for it to transform into the Lava Sea planet. The princess flew over to it and landed, looking around to see the lava tides rising in and out and also Silver Stars scattered around.
"Time to collect the Silver Stars!" Jewel said and then looked down at the receding lava tide, revealing a rocky pathway as she ran around to grab the five Silver Stars while making sure to stay on the safe spots whenever the lava covers up the planet. After all Silver Stars were gathered, they formed into a Power Star. "Perfect!" Jewel exclaimed and flew off.
Meanwhile, Luigi and Daisy were flying on their way to the Hardening Lava planet as fireballs were shot above them in an arc, thankfully not actually hitting them as they landed on the planet. There, they went about to collect the Star Chips while avoiding the Li'l Cinders, then they got into the reformed Launch Star and flew off to the Lava Spire itself, landing on a platform as they proceeded to make their way to the spire.

Unfortunately, as soon as the pair stepped onto the spire, they suddenly felt a rumble as they looked up to see the large intertwined rock formations surrounding the spire starting to crumble apart and fall… while the lava below them started to rise up.
[BGM: Speedy Comet – Super Mario Galaxy]
"CRAP!" Luigi panicked.
"Uh oh! Let's hurry, sweetie!" Daisy ushered, seeing the lava rising up fast as she grabbed Luigi's arm before the two made a mad dash to the top of the spire, running past holes with lava below, Boulders, Li'l Cinders and steam jets on the way.
"D-Daisy, slow down a bit! I can hardly keep up with you!" Luigi called out.
"I'm afraid I can't! The lava is rising too fast!" Daisy replied. "Don't worry, we're almost there!"
Eventually, Luigi and Daisy made it to the top of the spire safely and quickly broke the crystal trapping the Power Star. The couple sighed in relief as the Power Star lifted them off the ground and started to guide them away from the galaxy.
[BGM: Star Ball 2 – Super Mario Galaxy]
Cutting over to Kirby, he had made it to the Lava Ball Rolling Area, where he was now rolling the Star Ball through a humongous tunnel of lava with many holes on it.
"Whoa, whoa!" he exclaimed, nearly rolling into a hole. "That was close!" he said as he reached another lava tunnel. "Is this how Lacey did it? I'm surprised she can roll a ball that well as I do!" he remarked. "But then again, she really idolizes me." he thought with a smile as he slowly and carefully traversed the tunnel until he made it to the end and placed the Ball on the hole, where it shattered and freed the Star.
[BGM End]
"Yeah!" Kirby cheered and grabbed the Power Star, before flying off.
Finally, with Mario and Incineroar, they both launched off of a Launch Star from the Steel Platform Area and flew off to the Fiery Dino Piranha planet… where as you might imagine, there was an egg perched there, but this one was black with red spots. Nonetheless, the duo landed on top of it anyways and made it crack, causing it to burst into flames as the tail popped out.
[BGM: Interlude – Super Mario Galaxy]
Seeing the way the egg walked around, flashbacks of Dino Piranha doing the exact same thing flashed into Mario's mind, making his eyes widen a bit. "Wait… Don't tell me I'm fighting that thing again!" he thought, while Incineroar was just staring at the moving egg with a confused look.
"Well, that's unusual." he commented, and then he glanced at the tail as he went over to grab it, and threw it at the egg hard enough for it to shatter.

What housed inside the egg was someone who looks like Dino Piranha, but its head was black with red spots, its body was dark red and its petals appeared more singed. That was Fiery Dino Piranha, and it immediately faced the duo to roar loudly at them.

"Aren't you a grouchy one…" Incineroar winced as he was covering his sensitive feline ears from the loud roar.
"…We're fighting a Dino Piranha that's ON FIRE?!" Mario gaped, he and Incineroar running away from Fiery Dino Piranha as it attempted to charge at them.
"Not a problem for me! I'm resistant to fire, after all!" Incineroar grinned, as Fiery Dino Piranha breathed fireballs at him, only for him to retaliate them with Revenge before he ran towards it and punched it in the gut, followed by using an upward double axe handle to knock it back. This caused the flames surrounding Fiery Dino Piranha to extinguish, giving Mario the opportunity to spin attack the tail and deliver the first blow on the fire dinosaur-plant hybrid as some of its petals fell off.
Fiery Dino Piranha got back up, this time screaming in anger while lighting up itself in flames again before charging right at the duo while breathing more fireballs at them, but they avoided the attack as Incineroar used Darkest Lariat to suck up the fireballs and smack them back at Fiery Dino Piranha, and when its flames extinguished again, Mario first fire punched it in the gut strong enough to knock it down and then he went for the tail, dealing the second blow of the match.
When Fiery Dino Piranha got back up, however, it retaliated by igniting its tail and tail-slapping Mario before he could even react.
"YOWOWOWOW!" he yelled and stop, dropped, and rolled on the ground while singed all over. "HOT HOT HOT!"
Incineroar saw this and glared at Fiery Dino Piranha, his flaming belt igniting itself in intense flames with the increase of his fighting spirit. "Come here, you!" he charged after it and used Fire Fang, biting into its soft plant-like body and followed up with a Cross Chop to knock it down, where he wasted no time in grabbing its tail and chucking it with full force at Fiery Dino Piranha's head.

Like its distant cousin, Fiery Dino Piranha screeched in agony while distorting the air around it before plumping on the ground with its tongue sticking out, and exploded into a Power Star.
"Hmph, good riddance." Incineroar said while dusting off his hands before looking over at Mario, who was filled with burn marks all over his body. "You alright?"
"I'm fine. I've been through worse." Mario replied as he got up. "Heh, I guess you were too hot to handle!" he chuckled, leading Incineroar to roll his eyes. "What? It was a good pun!"
"Yeah, I guess it was." Incineroar chuckled. They then went over to get the Star, and flew off back to the Observatory.
Later, at the Observatory…
"Ah, the whole gang is back again!" Melissa exclaimed in delight once everyone made it back to the Observatory.
"Indeed!" Polari threw in.
Trifle then looked down at the Star counter, as it showed the number 20. "Nice! Just a few more left!" he grinned. But when he looked up again, he noticed that something, or rather, someone, was missing. "Hey, where's Rosalina?"
"Oh, right! She went to the Gate up there." Melissa said, pointing over to it. "Just use the Warp Pads to reach it."
"Oh boy, I know exactly what's coming up next…!" Jewel thought, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
"The Gate…" Kirby mused as the entire gang were making their way to the Gate. "Why do I have a feeling that we might end up at that Gateway planet?"
"You mean the same one where we encountered Trifle and where our journey began?" Mario guessed. "Well, that place is called the Gateway, so it could be possible."
"Only one way to find out if that's true." Trifle said once they were all standing in front of the Gate, and then they went in.
[BGM: Memory 3 – Super Paper Mario]
After seeing our 100th comet passing by in the sky, a sudden thought popped into my head, "I wonder if my home planet is still as blue as it was." That's when I remembered my father's telescope, and went to fetch it.
Peeking into the telescope, I saw a tiny blue dot floating into sight. It was smaller than a Star Bit, even. "How strange… It's so far away, but it feels so close." I mused.
I twisted the knob of the telescope, and the blue dot grew until I could make out a grassy hill dotted with flowers. It seemed very familiar to me, and it was indeed. By zooming even closer, a terrace on the hill came into view, and a memory began to rush through my mind. "I used to go stargazing there when I lived on my home planet." I said… and then more and more memories came to me the more I stared at that hill.
I remembered rubbing the sleep out of my eyes as I followed dad up that hill to look at the stars… I remembered how I and my younger sister, Zynthia, would sled down that hill together on a winter morning… I remembered having picnics with mom on that hill on bright and windy days… And… a-and…
[BGM: Sad Girl – Super Mario Galaxy]
"I want to go home! I want to go home right now!" I abruptly dropped to my knees on the ground and burst into tears.
As I sobbed hard, the Lumas looked at each other and didn't know what to do about this. At this point, I was shouting now, my face wet with tears, "I want to go home! I want to go back to my house by the hill! I want to see my mother! But I know she's not there! I knew all along that she wasn't out there in the sky! Because…because…" I remember pausing right there, as I didn't want the Lumas to hear the word 'dead' considering they are technically little children, and so I said this instead:
"She's sleeping under the tree on the hill!"
My cries echoed through the stars, and a hush fell over the area. I was all lost… What should I do now…? This is exactly what I thought, and I couldn't help but cry more, both in grief and frustration.
[BGM: Gateway Galaxy – Super Mario Galaxy]
"Rosie…? Heeey! Aunt Rosie!" Jewel called out, as she and the gang just made it to the top of the monument and saw Rosalina just standing there with her back turned and her body completely immobile.
"Huh?! Wha?" Rosalina snapped out of it and turned around, seeing the whole gang right in front of her. "Oh, it's you all…" she breathed. "You came to see me?"
"Yes, we did." Trifle nodded. "Why are you back at the Gateway, anyways?"
"Well… I was just looking at the stars, until I darted my eyes on that planet over there." Rosalina replied, turning back again to look at it. "And just by doing that, that flashback of mine triggered…" she thought saddened.
"Wait, that planet… Isn't that the Mushroom World?" Mario asked.
"That's right, Mario." Rosalina nodded. "This planet… It's very dear to me." she smiled a bit. "For the ones here who don't know, I looked forward to visiting this planet with the Lumas every one hundred years…"
"Wow… Just how old is she?!" the ones who were meeting Rosalina for the first time, those being Lacey, Neri, Kino, Nene, Red, Incineroar, the Inklings, Min Min, the Allies of Justice and the Loyal Bodyguards, all thought the same thing.
"The Lumas that've been traveling with Mario and Trifle may also grow up to become stars someday. Some Lumas become planets…some become comets…and a few become Power Stars."
Everyone's eyes, including those who knew Rosalina (except Jewel, of course), shot wide in shock by what they just heard, especially the last sentence. "So all the Stars we've been collecting… They were once CHILDREN?!" they thought. They knew already about Lumas becoming planets due to the Hungry Lumas… but becoming comets AND Stars? It was almost hard for them to believe that those objects that are literally the source of power of all the Mushroom World used to be living cute little star creatures in the past.
Rosalina then faces the group again. "I'm traveling with them while they look for a place to be reborn. But I never thought all this would happen…" she murmured sadly.
"You feeling okay, Rosa-chan?" Haru asked in concern.
"Oh, I'm fine." Rosalina smiled. "By the way, there's actually a reason why I wanted you to come see me here…"
"What reason?" Link asked.
"It should be here in a second." Rosalina replied, and right on cue, a red Luma came over to them.
"Hello! I just heard everything from that conversation earlier!" the red Luma chirped. "Wow… Mama must really trust you all."
"She really does indeed!" Pikachu beamed. "We all trust her too!" he added, with everyone else nodding in agreement.
"I see…" the red Luma mused. "Well, how about this?" in the blink of an eye, the red Luma made several Purple Coins appear all over the Gateway, with some of them suspended in midair while trapped in bubbles.
"Whoa!" Daisy exclaimed, she and the rest of the gang looking at those Purple Coins in awe. "What's all this?"
"If you all grab all 100 Purple Coins here, then you'll earn my trust too." the red Luma said.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on!" Ryuji interfered. "Dude, you're really expectin' us to grab all of these?!"
"Yes, indeed." the red Luma nodded. "Don't worry, I have something for you to make this collecting easier!" it then made several glowing red stars appear next to it. "This is a Red Star. It holds the power of the Red Lumas. But the really amazing part about it is, it allows you to fly AND attract Purple Coins to you by using your main abilities!" cue eye perks from the gang nigh immediately.
"You can thank me for adding this extra ability on it." Rosalina giggled, as everyone seemed very excited about this.
"Anyways, if you can collect the Purple Coins, I'll hand you this Red Power Star and let you use my power as much as you like." it showed them the Red Power Star.
"It's an instant deal!" Jewel exclaimed, and then the gang took a Red Star each. "So, you all ready?"
"Ready!" the others replied in unison, and they all absorbed the Red Stars.
[BGM End]
Mario's cap and overalls became black, and the overalls' buttons and boots became red. Luigi's cap and overalls turned dark green instead, and the buttons and boots turned green. Daisy's crown, gloves and dress' panniers and frills changed to black while her dress and heels turned crimson red. Jewel's gloves and heels turned black, and her crown and dress turned a velvet red. Neri's hair and the bottom of her dress changed to black, leaving her Sea Flower accessory and the upper part of her dress red. Finally, all the rest that were not from Mario's universe didn't undergo a change in appearance, instead only having a glowing red aura surrounding their bodies.
[BGM: Flying Mario – Super Mario Galaxy]
"Oh, baby!" Trifle grinned as they all looked at themselves in amazement. "This feels amazing!"
"You said it!" Mario agreed. "Let's-a go!"
With that, everyone took off to experiment with their newfound Red Star powers while Rosalina and the red Luma watched. They were all flying around and using their new abilities to pull in the nearby Purple Coins to them as they split up to make this collecting faster, while also enjoying the freedom of flying as loud cheers were heard from all of them. Well, Kirby and Lacey could already float and fly in the air respectively, but at the very least they could rest the part of their bodies that they use for roaming around in the air with the Red Star on.
"Wow, they sure are having fun with it." the red Luma observed.
"Looks like it." Rosalina smiled. "Hmm… maybe they could use this power to get the Purple Coins from the Purple Comets if they ever show up!" she thought as this idea popped in her mind.
[BGM End]
By the time the Red Star's effect on everyone vanished, they had managed to gather all the Purple Coins around the Gateway thanks to them being a large group of people, and so they made it back to the monument to meet back with Rosalina and the red Luma.
"Hmm… Not bad for you all! I'm impressed. Mama was right after all." the red Luma said. "Well then, as promised, you're all able to use my Red Star whenever you like. Oh, and here's my gift of trust." it released the Red Power Star.
A little bit later…
Everyone was back at the Observatory after obtaining the Red Power Star, and met up with Melissa and Polari who were both looking down at the counter that now showed the number 19.
"So you all believe you got the power of the Red Star covered?" Rosalina asked the large group.
"I think we got it!" Inkling Girl said.
"Yeah!" Inkling Boy nodded.
Rosalina giggled. "Alright, now let's wait for-" the map suddenly made a noise, interrupting Rosalina.
"Eh? What's happening?" Luigi wondered.
Polari checked the map, and was left surprised at what he just saw. "Holy Star Bits! We've got multiple Purple Comets inbound! They're all over the major galaxies, and in fact, some of them are even coinciding with Daredevil Comets in Deep Dark and Melty Molten and a Speedy Comet in Dreadnought!"
"Hey, you missed out the Hungry Luma near the Gate." Melissa informed. "But anyways, having multiple Purple Comets all at once is such a rarity!"
"True… That's so unheard of, but it happened." Rosalina mused, and then she turned to the group. "Just to refresh your memory and for those who didn't hear about the Prankster Comets from Comet Tico, a Purple Comet scatters Purple Coins throughout the galaxy it's orbiting, and like what you all did back at the Gateway, collecting 100 of them makes a Power Star appear. But because the last three major galaxies have another Prankster Comet in the middle, I think the ones who'll head to these must complete both Comets' challenges. It definitely won't be an easy task for sure, and some of those Purple Coins are pretty well-hidden. But by using the power of the Red Star you recently gained access to…" she stopped for a bit there, a smile of hope forming on her face. "I, Melissa and Polari just know you can do them!"
"Oh yeah, totally!" Sonic grinned, giving out a thumbs-up.
"We'll get all the remaining Power Stars in no time!" Eira said.
"You said it, sister!" Jack agreed.
"We've all come so far, so we can't turn back now!" Mario exclaimed.
Rosalina clasped her hands. "I knew I could trust you all!" she beamed. "Well, at least one of you must head over to the Hungry Luma, of course, while the rest of you will go tackle the major galaxies."
"Sounds like a good idea." Shulk agreed. "So, who'll be heading over to the Hungry Luma?"
"You know… I didn't take any action throughout this entire journey, so I believe this should be a perfect time for me to actually do something." Melissa volunteered and starts to walk away. "Have fun, you all!" she waved and flew off to the Gate, where she fed the Hungry Luma 1200 Star Bits before launching off to Boo's Boneyard Galaxy.
[BGM: Purple Comet – Super Mario Galaxy]

"Alright, you all ready?" Rosalina asked.
"Ready than ever!" Trifle smirked. "Let's do this!" he exclaimed as the gang nodded and split up.

Good Egg Galaxy…
Mario and Trifle landed on the Pear-shaped planet and looked around to see the Purple Coins scattered about as they immediately activated the Red Star Power-Up and took off flying, with Mario spinning to draw the Purple Coins surrounding him before flying into a Launch Star to get the Purple Coins on the path as he then hit the Boulder planet and grabbed the individual Coins on it, while Trifle was flying off around space and collecting the Purple Coins in plain sight. When he got to the Egg planet, he collected the last Coins in it and a Power Star appeared.
"Got it!" Trifle exclaimed, and then Mario came to him shortly after.
"Nice one!" he applauded, and then the two flew off back to the Observatory.
Honeyhive Galaxy…
Kirby activated his Red Star and flew around, first grabbing the Purple Coins on the planet's edges before moving over to its interior. He dodged a Wiggler on the way as he grabbed the Coins in its path, and lastly, he flew up to collect the ones at the top of the planet to nab the Star.
"Yay!" he beamed.
Space Junk Galaxy…
Kino and Nene landed on the Assembly Block planet, looking at the various Purple Coins in a circle before they activated their Red Stars and took off, where Kino used his gun-like weapon to draw in a few faraway Coins while Nene was flying around to collect the rest. Both returned to the beginning upon collecting all Coins, where the Power Star appeared before them.
"We did it!" Kino cheered.
"Not bad at all!" Nene smiled.
Battlerock Galaxy…
The Inklings landed on the saucer, and after activating the Red Star power, Inkling Girl shot ink at the Purple Coins ahead, where the ink suddenly converted itself into a large net that trapped the Coins that she collected, as Inkling Boy did the same to gather the Coins by the Battlerock Barrage so he didn't have to worry much about the cannonballs and the electric fences. A Power Star appeared at the big saucer once the squid kids grabbed all the Coins.
"Woomy! /Ngyes!" they fist-pumped each other and took the Star.
Beach Bowl Galaxy…
Red immediately brought out his three Pokémon before activating the Red Star, as his Pokémon also had a glowing red aura surrounding them before the quartet split up to get the Purple Coins, with Squirtle obviously going for the ones in the water and using Withdraw to draw in the Coins next to him, Ivysaur going for the ones on the palm trees by using Vine Whip, Charizard went for the ones in the air, and Red went for the ones on the islands. By going around separate portions at the same time to get all the Coins, the Power Star appeared for them at the starting island.
"Great job, guys!" Red praised, earning happy noises from his Pokémon as he grabbed the Star.
Ghostly Galaxy…
Sonic blinked as he saw not 100, but 150 Purple Coins around the bone pen in front of him. "Pfft, this will be too easy." Sonic scoffed.
"Can you do it in under a minute?" a Boo nearby challenged.
"Under a minute? Not a problem!" Sonic smirked, activating his Red Star and zipped around (much like how he does with the Laser Wisp) while collecting the Coins as they flew behind him before all 150 were caught in only five seconds, and a Power Star appeared near the Boo as his jaw dropped.
"Wha-… HOW?!" the Boo yelled as Sonic landed and took the Star.
"Piece of cake!" he grinned.
Gusty Garden Galaxy…
Lacey flew up in the air with the Red Star on and fired out several heart projectiles from her Love-Love Stick all around the Puzzle Cube planet, where the heart projectiles hit every Purple Coin and dragged them all back to her as she collected them, making a Power Star appear at the area right below her.
"Not a problem!" she smiled.
Freezeflame Galaxy…
Eira created an icy tornado around herself, sucking in all the hidden Purple Coins towards her before grabbing them. "I can't believe we missed those! They were so hard to spot!" she remarked.
"What are you talking about? I…I clearly saw them!" Jack lied. "I just got distracted by the others around!"
"Sure you did, brother. Sure you did…" Eira teased with a playful eyeroll before she and Jack proceeded to collect the remaining ones at the top of the Freezy Peak, more specifically the arena where Baron Brrr was fought, and then the Power Star appeared before them.
Dusty Dune Galaxy…
"Woohoo!" Ann cheered as the Phantom Thieves were going to town on the Purple Coins scattered around the Maze planet, while Futaba was using Necronomicon's tentacles to collect the Coins in midair between the Thwomps and the Tweesters until they were all collected and the Power Star appeared before her.
"Got it!" she exclaimed.
"Hell yeah! Now we can get outta here! It's too effin' hot." Ryuji complained.
"Agreed." Yusuke nodded.
Gold Leaf Galaxy…
Link flew around the starting planet, using Magnesis to attract a few Purple Coins next to him. He first worked his way on the bottom level before moving up to the upper part with the wooden walkways and the observation deck, until the Power Star appeared as soon as he grabbed the last Purple Coin.
"That takes care of that." he said with a smirk.
Sea Slide Galaxy…
Jewel and Neri saw that there were Purple Coins both on dry land and in the water, so they decided to split up after activating their Red Stars, with Jewel going for the Coins on land while Neri went for the Coins in the water by manipulating it to have it pull the Coins right towards her as she swam around. The Power Star soon appeared at the starting island, where Jewel and Neri met up again.
"Yeah!" Neri high-fived Jewel.
"We rock!" Jewel exclaimed.
Toy Time Galaxy…
Min Min ended up at the backside of the 8-Bit Mario Bros. planet, which just so happens to contain a giant 8-bit jumping Luigi sprite with lots of Shrinking Tiles, Flip Tiles, poison in place of lava, and Purple Coins.
"Huh… so it's a giant sprite of Luigi." Min Min spoke to herself before absorbing the Red Star and taking off, grabbing the Purple Coins by extending her arms to them while she looked down at both types of Tiles and the poisonous swamp with an uneasy look on her face. "Could you imagine how tough and annoying it'd be if I had to do this on foot?" she wondered to herself as she kept gathering the Coins.
Once she was done, the Power Star appeared at the small block planted onto Luigi's right foot, where she flew over to grab it. "Wánshàn (Perfect)." she said.
Deep Dark Galaxy…
"BURN!" Kamella yelled, launching fireballs at the Loyal Bodyguards during the Daredevil Comet mission, as she already had only one hit point remaining. The Heroes quickly flew away to dodge the fireballs before gathering back and pointing their blades towards Kamella, crossing them with each other before firing a point blank range Kazapple at her.
"Oh, son of a-…" Kamella was hit and poofed out of existence, leaving behind a Power Star as the Heroes took it.
Now that Kamella was out of the way, the Heroes resumed their task of collecting the rest of the Purple Coins on and around the ghost ship, as they had previously gathered the ones on the beach and in the water before reaching this area where Kamella awaited her Daredevil challenge. After collecting all of the remaining Coins, the Power Star showed up on the ship's deck as the Heroes flew over to it and high-fived each other.
"Good work, guys!" Eleven complimented.
Dreadnought Galaxy…
While Pikachu was rushing through the Speedy Comet mission, Shulk and Cloud were gathering the Purple Coins at the dreadnought's barrage as Shulk had used Monado Shield to protect him and Cloud from the cannonballs before they started the coin collecting. When Cloud collected the last Purple Coin, a Power Star appeared in front of him.
"Well, that was easy." he said.
"Hopefully Pikachu is doing fine on the other Prankster Comet challenge." Shulk said.
"Oh, he's a strong fellow. I'm sure he's doing fine and will return safely." Cloud assured.
And indeed; Pikachu had just defeated Topmaniac at this exact moment, thus clearing the Speedy Comet challenge.
"Too easy!" he chirped and took off.
And finally, Melty Molten Galaxy…
Incineroar flew all the way to the Lava Spire as he was doing the Daredevil Comet mission, and could see the Power Star trapped in a crystal at the very top. "Hello, there!" he exclaimed and flew over to it, easily breaking the crystal and nabbing the Star. "Good thing I decided to skip all that stuff back there on the way here!" he grinned and flew off.
Meanwhile, Luigi and Daisy were the ones collecting the Purple Coins, and they basically had no trouble with it by splitting up and flying away from the various lava and fiery hazards this galaxy offered. At last, the last Purple Comet Power Star materialized for the couple the moment the 100th Purple Coin was gathered.
"Awesome! We did it!" Daisy celebrated, hugging Luigi.
"That wasn't so bad!" Luigi exclaimed.

When I was still structuring how this story is going to progress before even writing it, one of the things I've decided right off the bat was that the gang would do the Purple Coin missions for last, since I thought the Purple Comet music really gave this feeling of how the adventure is coming to a close end, as it just screams determination for me. I hope you liked the montage of each group going for every major galaxy to get the Purple Coins while this awesome music was playing!
It's time to head out to the center of the universe... which will lead to a devastating conclusion. Hopefully I can get the final chapter done soon enough!
