CHAPTER 14

Many years ago…

So Puck went back to the coffeehouse to find Shannon. He found her in the coffeehouse and he rushed over to her.

"Sugar Bear, where were you?!" He exclaimed.

"Oh, I'm sorry. My dad won't let me go." She said.

"But the Nicaraguans need us!"

"It's just… he's still supporting me, and… look, he's coming by soon to talk about it but I think you should go on without me."

"Shannon, there is no wa…"

"Puck! It's your dream. It's only two years. I know we can make it!"

As Puck walked away, he realised Shannon was an adult. Her father couldn't control her life. He had to go back and confront him! He ran back to the coffeehouse and he watched her in a heated argument with her when suddenly… they started making out…

Back to present day…

"WHAT?!" They all shouted. The buzzer went off again.

"Now we all gotta drink." Sam said. They all took a drink.

"Oh, my God. What happened next?" Finn asked.

"I don't know, guys." Puck murmured.

"Okay, okay. I got one." Quinn said. "So, Sam's mom sent us cookies…"

"Quinn, no!" Sam exclaimed.

"For the team, Sam, for the team." She replied and she took a deep breath…

A couple of months ago…

"Hey Mrs. Evans, it's Quinn. Thank you so much for the delicious cookies!" She said over the phone. "Mayonnaise. Really? Never would have guessed." She muttered. "Well, I will definitely give Sam a kiss for you. Okay, take care."

Sam walked into the apartment moments later and he saw the box.

"Oh, crap. My mom sent cookies?"

"Yeah. I wish we had a dog, so they wouldn't go to waste." Quinn chuckled.

"So, Finn's out. We've got the whole place to ourselves." Sam commented. Quinn grinned.

"I'm thinking floor sex." She replied. Sam smirked.

"Sounds reasonable." He replied as they ripped off each other's clothes.

"Ooh, the floor's cold!" Quinn exclaimed. "Grab that afghan your mom made."

Back to the present day…

"I don't get it. What's so embarrassing about that? I just had floor sex this morning." Puck remarked. "Your story sucks."

"Wait for it…" Sam murmured.

"I just wish I had actually hung up the phone." Quinn muttered. Everyone's eyes widened and they started laughing hysterically.

"The whole time?" Santana laughed.

"The… whole… time…" Quinn replied.

"Puck, that was really embarrassing for both of us. We just earned a huge chunk of story." Sam said. Puck nodded.

"Right. So where was I?" He asked. "Oh yeah. Shannon was sucking face with her dad…"

Many years ago…

Puck rushed into the coffeehouse and Shannon noticed him. She ran over to him.

"How can… with your dad?" He exclaimed. "I mean, I know judge not lest ye be judged, but gross!"

"Puck, that's not my father." She said. "His name's Greg. I've been seeing him for a few weeks. I was hoping you'd just leave, and we could avoid all this."

"We're breaking up? But what about the peace corps?"

"Yeah, all this granola business… it was just a phase. Greg's older. He's successful. He buys me all this cool stuff!"

"But I love you." Puck murmured.

"But he has a boat!" She replied. "You should go to the peace corps and forget about me."

She then walked away…

Puck didn't go. That night, he recorded the video and mailed it to Shannon. He didn't see her until a week later. She was just picking up her last paycheck. She didn't care to see me. In fact, her new 'boyfriend' mocked me about it. But that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that her boyfriend was that man in a suit who he served coffee that one time.

Puck stormed out of the shop and onto the street, kicking a garbage can out the way as he walked. Suddenly, he was handed a brochure by a random New Yorker. It was a brochure for a suit company. Finn got his hair cut and he suited up for the first time, becoming the Puck they knew him as today…

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

"Oh, you poor thing." Quinn murmured.

"The story's not over." Puck replied. "I did see Shannon one more time."

"When?" Santana asked. Puck didn't answer.

"Come on! You've got to tell us!" Quinn exclaimed.

"I don't know, I think I might need one last story to get me through it." Puck remarked, looking at Finn. Finn sighed.

"Fine. Um… oh! So I was in Naval training and we had to wake up at 4 every morning. When the DI tried to wake me up…"

"Oh, come on, Finn!" Puck shouted. "You know what story I want to hear. Everyone else here has manned up tonight and told me the truth. Why can't you?"

Finn nodded.

"You're right." Finn murmured. He then turned to Rachel. "Rachel, I'm sorry I haven't told you this yet, but a while back, I was kind of into Santana. In fact, on our first date, I might have said 'I love you.' Understandably, she freaked out and I left. But unfortunately, the night did not end there."

Quinn and Sam choked on their drinks.

"WHAT?!" They exclaimed.

A couple of months ago…

"Well, by the end of the night, we all ended up at the bar with our cab driver Ranjit. And I drank… a lot. Soon, Quinn, Santana and Sam had all gone home and only Puck, Ranjit and I remained in the bar.

"So you guys think I should have kissed her?" Finn asked. They both nodded. "Well, I'll tell you what, I'm gonna go kiss her right… now." Finn slurred drunkenly.

"YES! Do it!" Puck exclaimed.

"To the cab!" Ranjit stated. Fifteen minutes later, Finn, Puck and Ranjit made it to Santana's apartment building but just before Finn knocked on the door, he leaned down and hurled all over the ground.

"Hello? Is someone out there?" Santana called from inside. Ranjit, Finn and Puck to the opportunity to run before Santana could open the door.

Back to the present day…

"You ralphed and ran?" Quinn asked, incredulously.

"You re-returned for me." Santana smiled. "That's really sweet. Though you kind of ruined my customised Santana doormat."

"Sorry." He murmured.

"It's okay." She replied. Finn then turned to Rachel, who was sitting uneasily in her seat.

"Rachel, I know this must be…"

"Yeah. It kind of is." She murmured.

"Wow, Finn, you were right. You shouldn't have told that story!" Puck exclaimed, smirking at him. "But you did earn yourself the right to the end of mine. We fast-forward 8 years into the future."

"Wait, eight years… that's this year." Sam commented.

"Sam, it is not only this year, it's tonight. After I walked out, I went to Shannon's place. I knocked on the door and she answered.

"Hi." She said, before realising who he was. "Puck?"

"Hi Shannon." Puck said.

"What are you doing here?"

"Just listen. When you left me for that guy Greg, it changed me. Now, I'm this. A suit-wearing, scotch-swilling jackass. I know this is crazy. It's just, you were once such a big part of my life and it just seemed insane that you didn't know who I am now. So here I am."

Back to the present…

"So I told her about my life and she told me about hers. She and Gred dated for awhile and then split up. But here's the real kicker: Shannon's a mom. She has a little kid named Max. That's crazy. That could have been my kid. But instead, what do I have? My whole life's some money in a bank, some suits in my closet and a string of one-night stands."

Puck lowered his head and wiped away a tear.

"Hey. Come on! I mean, just because her life went one way and yous went another, it dosn't make your life any worse." Quinn said, comfortingly. Puck looked up and raised an eyebrow.

"Are you kidding? My life rocks! Money, suits and sex. These are tears of joy! I could be cooped up in some tiny apartment changing some brat's poopy diapers. But instead, I'm out in the world being awesome 24-7, 365! You let me dodge a bullet, Big Guy." He said, looking up at the sky. "Plus, here's the mini-cherry on top of the regular cherry on top of the sundae of awesomeness that is my life. After Shannon and I talked, I nailed her. BONG!"

"Nope." Quinn shook her head. "Nope. Sorry. Don't buy it, You're making it up. You're just trying to cover the fact that you actually had a profound moment of doubt about yourself and…"

Puck took out his phone and showed Quinn a video of the two of them having sex.

"Ew, gross! Just stop it!" Quinn exclaimed after a few moments. Puck chuckled and stood up.

"Ladies… Gentlemen… Finn. This has been a wonderful evening. I got great dirt on all you guys, I got Finn to tell the re-return. I finally nailed Shannon! Told her I'd call her tomorrow. Yeah, right! And I rediscovered just how awesomely awesome my life is. Peace out, hombres!"

With that, he walked out of the bar, triumphant. Sam grinned.

"Wow. I think Puck just won game night!"
