The piercing ring of an alarm tossed Sandy back into conciseness. The bed lightly shook as the man laying next to her sat up and disarmed the waking devices unwelcomed screams. Sun was already starting to slip in threw the window curtains as she looked to see the clock showing it was 6:30 in the morning.
"Won't ya be late?" Sandy asked realizing how late it was considering his start time of 8 o'clock.
"The meeting isn't until nine because it's Sunday." The purple furred male yawned while stretching out his arms. He then looked back at her groggily. "You should get some more sleep."
"Nah." She protested as she sat up rolled her neck. "I should feed the kids."
"What do you want for breakfast?" Static quested as he pushed himself out of bed and towards his dresser.
"Don't worry 'bout me none. I'll grab something later." She moaned as she finally stretched her body out before following him to the dresser.
"Too late. I'm already worried." He turned and gave her a peck on the lips. "Steak and eggs, it is then." He then turned and headed towards the master bathroom leaving her looking down at his neatly pressed clothing on the dresser.
A small smile passed by her lips at the sound of him yelp as he jumped in the shower. She was falling for him so fast, and the faster she fell the less guilty she felt about it. She couldn't remember the last time Shadow had made her breakfast before he headed to work. Usually she made it for him which she never had a problem with given she usually worked from home. However, this small little gesture made her happier than she would have ever expected. Static wanted to help her despite the fact he was the one leaving to go to work for the day. Given taking care of her two young children had been the hardest job she'd ever set out to do, but it just seemed like nobody else saw it that way.
When she told people, she was taking a year off from her research consulting job to take care of the kids most people's responses were "Oh it'll be nice for you to have all that time off." Even she felt guilt about it before she actually delivered her children, as she didn't realize at the time just how difficult a job it was being a mother; A mother of twins at that. Even now that she knew just how over her head she was, she understood how others might not be fully aware of all the difficulties she had to face daily. She was usually too proud to ask for help, but the few times when she did, she was met by resistance from her own husband, because "She wasn't working." So, she learned to keep her mouth shut and try to hide the pain and fear. But here was Static offering to cook her a meal before heading out of the house to go to his own job on his day off no less. It seemed too good to be true. Even if it was only this once she was thankful. She knew full well there was likely no way he would want to keep this up, because men like that weren't real. Then again, he had always been the type to surprise her since the day they met, and especially now in her time of need.
Sandy had been finished changing and feeding the kids for a good ten minutes before Static came in the living room with their breakfast. She was sitting on the floor, next to her children, still clad in her dark red silk pajamas that Static had actually bought her for her birthday two years before (That caused one heck of a fight with her husband). Sandy graciously accepted the plate from him as she took a seat near him on the couch.
"Thank ya." She smiled at him and was met by him bending over and giving her a kiss on the head.
"Of course, babe." He looked at the two small children attempting to move around on the floor next to her feet. "Is she getting away again?" He asked in reference to Tex.
"Not just yet, but I'm sure she'll start rolling her way off somewhere soon." A slightly tired sigh escaped Sandy as she now knew her job as a mother was about to get much harder. Tex had just discovered how to roll to get around and thus bypass her failed attempts at crawling. Wes on the other hand was still trying his luck at crawling but after seeing his sister escape with the other method wouldn't be surprised if he eventually picked it up too.
"After I get off today, we need to go pick up some stuff for them. I'd be nice to sit at the table sometimes, and they need real beds." Static took a sip of his coffee before scooping some eggs on his steak slice and taking a bite.
"That's fine. I'm sure Shadow and I will have our money situation figured out today at least."
Static hummed in protest while taking another sip of coffee. "Don't worry about the money Sandy. I'm paying for everything."
Sandy looked at him somewhat annoyed. "No. I won't have ya spending all this money on us. It ain't right."
Static just laughed as he bent down and pressed his lips to her before parting them slowly. "You're my fiancé. We're family. I'm going to take care of my family."
"Static, yer really trying to move things too fast here. I don't want to burn ya out before we even get started." She placed her hand on his knee.
"Moving too fast? Sandy…" He sat his plate down on the couch next to him and took her hands in both of his. "We've known each other for almost 4 years. I've waited for you for almost 4 years. If anything, we have a lot of catching up to do." Static gave her a wink and then released her hands before finishing up the last of his food.
She smiled at him completely amazed that he was actually doing a decent job at convincing her to change her mind. "Alright, but we should get something affordable. I'll drop by Ikea after meeting up with Shadow and pick up a catalog.
Static took his and Sandys now finished plates looked at her concerned for a moment. "Sandy, I love you, but there is no way in Hell you're bring anything from Ikea in this house."
"What's wrong with Ikea?" She questioned as he stood up and took their dirty dishes in the kitchen.
"Do you really want to get me started?" He called back from the other room.
"Not really." She mumbled.
Static returned into the room with her and clasped his hands together. "Great! So it's settled. I hope you don't mind if I leave you the dishes, but I'd hate to show up in front of my father and the lawyers covered in soap suds."
"It's fine. Thanks for breakfast." She stood up and embraced him while looked over his nice tan slacks, black leather dress shoes and navy-blue dress shirt. "You really clean up nice, sugar." She giggled as he kissed her and returned her hug.
"Hmm…" He moved his hands down her back and then grabbed onto her hips as he moved his head to start sucking on her neck. "You like this huh? You wanna play dress up for me later?" He laughed as she playfully pushed him away before pulling him back by his dark blue tie and giving him a long wet kiss. "Call me when you get back ok?"
"I will." She gave him one last quick kiss before releasing him. "Good luck."
"You too, babe. And it looks like you'll need it because she's getting away again." Static pointed to Tex who was now halfway across the living room.
"Shoot!" Sandy ran up to her daughter and picked her up and sat her next to her brother before she gave once last wave to Static as he threw on his spots jacket and left the house. It was 7:50 so She had a few more hours to kill before she'd be able to get ahold of her brother, so she started making a list of talking points to go over with Shadow. Despite how good her morning had gone up until this point she knew it was going to a lot worse before things as a whole were going to get better for the long run.
