THIRTY-ONE
Wednesday morning
(Four months later)
When the new academic year starts, Edward texts Bella every morning. He is living with Leah and Ben this year, in a house not far from campus. He knows she is still living in her dad's flat.
She doesn't always reply very quickly, not usually until the afternoon, but he feels a wave of relief when her name eventually pops up on her phone.
He has heard from Angela that she isn't in a very good way.
Sometimes, he even tries to visit her flat to check if she is okay.
She never answers the door.
