"Damian aren't you excited!??" Kayla squealed gleefully besides Damian.
"Yeah! Why the heck not?" He responded besides her.
As they were strolling through the corridor, they've finally reached the door to the theater. They've opened it and was greeted with the usual composite of people. Jack waved at them from the stage. They then hurried to him. Jack was the first to start a conversation with them.
"Hey Kayla, Dame!" Jack greeted them earning a 'wassup' from Damian. He then focuses his gaze onto Kayla as his face straightens and took a serious form.
"Kayla. Thanks for inviting me to your birthday yesterday. It was really fun and I apologize if anything happened there" Jack explains to her as he was sorry for what happened yesterday with her and her aunt.
"You're welcome, and it's not your fault or anyone's fault in the least so, you don't have to worry about it!" Kayla reassures him.
"Okay then, if you say so!" He murmured at her while rubbing the back of his head.
He then turned his head towards Damian.
"Dame, where the heck you've gone to yesterday?" Jack immediately asked him.
"Ohh... I've just went to give Kayla her present and left!" He said trying to beat around the bush. Kayla was surprised at the fact he didn't tell Jack that they were a couple now but she didn't question him and just went with the flow.
"Ohh, really, he didn't disturb you right Kayla?" He asked Kayla.
"No, he was actually really sweet!" She looked at Damian with warm eyes and Damian replied with a warm gaze of his own.
"What's going on here?" Jack asked the both of them as they snapped back into reality.
"Ohh sorry, ummmm, me and Damian are also now back together as a team!" Kayla exclaimed trying to divert his attention.
"Wow! That's wonderful! Turns out you did succeed to be with her in someway!" Jack jokes at Damian.
"You have no idea!" Damian suddenly blurted out which surprised Kayla and confused Jack. Damian then realised on what came on his mouth and turned to Jack who luckily didn't dive deeply into what he meant.
"Well, at least it's nice seeing you both like this!" Jack said to Damian who smiled in return.
"Anyhow, does that mean you guys are performing a duet or how's it going to go then?" Jack asked the both of them.
"Actually, we haven't... think about that! What do you think, Damian?" Kayla turns to him.
"I wouldn't mind doing a duet with you!" Damian said to her while holding her hand.
Jack caught on to this and was beginning to suspect something was going on between them.
"Okay, what's going on here? You two are acting weird!" Jack asked them.
Damian and Kayla both looked into each others eye trying to figure out what to do. It was then Kayla tilted her head towards Jack motioning Damian to tell Jack himself. Damian paused staring at Kayla before taking a deep breath. He then looked at Jack.
"Jack...I got to tell you something!" Damian said looking at Jack with a serious look.
"O...kay?!!" Jack was surprised to see Damian acting serious.
Damian suddenly hold both of Kayla's hand and brought her closer to him. She gasped at his sudden move. He stared into her eyes as she returns his gaze. He brought his face closer to hers before they were just inches away. He closes his eyes and moves his face even closer to hers until her lips touches his. She moaned at the sudden kiss and responds with closing her own eyes enjoying the bliss. Everyone at the theatre saw this and carried the same looks and reaction.
After a few seconds, they broke apart from the kiss and Damian gave Kayla a warm smile. She blushes at his smile and hid her glowing red face from him. Damian chuckled at this before looking back at Jack. He turns only to see a frozen Jack. Damian started to worry.
"You're okay Jackster?" Damian called while laying his arm on his shoulder.
Jack looked to Damian and muttered..
"What the f*ck did you put in my lunch?" Jack asks.
"What are you talking about?" Damian asks with a confused look.
"Did you and Kayla just...?
"Yeahhh..." Damian responded blatantly.
"You and Kayla... YOU AND KAYLA!!!" Jack screamed internally. A fuse just went off in his head as he was trying to process what was happening. He suddenly cool off and looks at Damian.
"I..I don't know what to say! I'm speechless." Jack said to the both of them. They were disappointed thinking Jack didn't approve of them.
"But... I'm really, really glad for the both of you!" Jack said to them.
"Well what's else to say, except.. congratulations! Both of you!" He says to them before suddenly chuckling.
"What's with the laugh?" Damian asks Jack.
"Nothing, just...hahaha...smooth Dame, real smooth!" Jack teased. Damian felt embarrassed at the tease. Even he didn't know he had courage to kiss her. Kayla then notices this shy side of Damian and giggled at him.
"What!!" Damian scowled.
"Nothing, just that, you're cute!" Kayla said before kissing his cheeks. Sahara and Addison soon move towards the group.
"Congratulations, Damian, you finally have your chance with her!" Addison said to him.
"Yeah! It's nice seeing you two like this!" Sahara remarked at them.
"Ahh, true love! Oohhh! I'm gonna write a song about this!" Spam said after seeing Damian and Kayla. Vanexxa just rolled her eyes before continuing to practice her violin.
"Look at them Zill! They're so.. precious!" Ashley says to him. Zill didn't respond and continued his practice.
"Zill?" Ashley called for him.
"What Ashley!?" Zill scowled at her.
"Z-Zill? Are you okay?" She stammers after his outbreak. Zill then had a scared look in his eyes.
"I'm- I'm sorry Ashy! I didn't know what came over me!" Zill says to her.
"It's okay Zill... Are you okay?" Ashley asks again.
"I'm...fine!" Zill says to her. Ashley knew something was going on in his mind.
"Zill, I'm going to talk to Kayla for a while.. Will you be fine?" Ashley says as she stand up.
"Y-yeah! I'll be fine! Again... I'm sorry!" Zill says to her.
"It's okay Zill!" She reassures him before going over to Damian and Kayla.
"Ummm, hello there!" Ashley greeted the both of them.
"Oh hello there.. Ashley!" Kayla greeted back.
"Mind introducing her?" Damian says to Kayla.
"Ohh right, Damian this is Ashley, Ashley, this is Damian." Kayla introduced them to each other.
"Hello there Damian!" Ashley greeted.
"Hello!" Damian greeted back.
"So, Ashley, what do you need?" Kayla asks her.
"Ohh nothing! I just want to thank you for inviting me and Zill yesterday even though... And I just wanted to say I'm sorry for everything!" Ashley said to her. Damian finally recognise her as he pieced it together. She was Zill's girlfriend. He remembered her for when he and Zill had a fight a few weeks ago. He was going to put his guard up against her but to him she seems nice. He just kept silent throughout the whole conversation trying to figure out her character.
"It was my pleasure Ashley, and you don't have to be sorry. I... don't hold anything towards you or Zill. In the end he's still my friend! Nothing would change that!" Kayla says to her. Ashley felt relieved hearing that and the both of them continued chatting for a while. Damian didn't want to bother both of them in their conversation and walked away. He wanted to speak to Jack before he saw someone waving at him from the corner of his eyes. It was Zill on the end of the stage. When Zill knew Damian saw him, he motioned Damian to follow him. Zill then lifts the curtain and went backstage. Damian was hesitant at first but decided to see what he wanted.
Damian lifts the curtain and went backstage. He looked around revealing a very messy space. Ropes were everywhere and props were scattered on the floor. With the sea of mess surrounding him, he still looks around but felt odd as Zill was nowhere in sight. He looks around for a bit dodging and trudging through the ropes dangling and props on the floor. Suddenly, he heard loud footsteps behind him that made him immediately turn but it was too late. A surge of pain and pressure washed over his face as a fist landed on it. He was thrown back and crashed on a wall.
"What the f*ck!" Damian growled at the attacker. He opened his eyes still trying to cope with the pain and it was revealed that the attacker was none other than Zill himself.
"What the hell dude!" Damian scowled while rubbing the blood of his lips.
"Now, we're even!" Zill says standing in front of him. He then extends his arm to help Damian on his feet. Damian paused for a while thinking about what Zill is currently doing. He then chuckles loudly as he realised what Zill meant.
"F*ck, I guess so!" Damian said taking his hand as Zill helps him stand up.
"You didn't have too hit me that hard though!" Damian scowled at him still trying to rub the blood away.
"I'm sorry, got a little..carried away!" Zill apologies at him moving back a couple steps.
"Yeah! I bet!" Damian said sarcastically.
"So.. did you just invite me here just to get even? Cause if so.. I think we're done right?!" Damian says wanting to leave.
"No, I actually wanted to talk to you about something!" Zill says suddenly switching to a serious tone.
"About what?" Damian asks.
"About Kayla!" Zill says briefly.
"Dude, Kayla and me got together because we love each other. As her friend, I think you should feel happy for her!" Damian concludes while turning away.
"No, not like that! That's not what I meant! Could you hear me out first!" Zill remarks at Damian conclusions.
"What about her then?" Damian asks turning back again towards Zill.
"I wanted you to tell her that I'm sorry!" Zill says.
Damian felt surprised at the statement and thought on it for a while.
"Wait, why don't you tell her yourself?!" Damian suggest.
"No. I can't. I just can't!" Zill said. He then moves towards the wall and leans on it, crossing his arms.
"Why not? Seems like that's the most reasonable thing to do!" Damian said.
"I know but... I just can't!" He says as his body drops to the floor as he sits with his back against the wall. He curled up and hid his face behind his knees.
"What's going on Zill?" Damian says moving closer to him and sat next to him. Zill didn't say a word, he just hid his face and stayed still. After a brief moment, he lifted his face and stares at the ceiling above. The light blinding his eyes.
"Damian, when I broke up with her, I just thought things will pass eventually. No one would get hurt... Turns out, everything went sideways. The most painful thing..." He look at his hands.
"She suffered and I didn't. Worst part.. I caused it... me!" Zill explains covering his face. Damian just continued listening at Zill's words.
"Since that day, I've been living with this... guilt!Even after everything, I still believe that she's my friend and I never wanted for her to cry! I didn't know what to do! I know that I should apologize but I just can't! Being in the same room with Kayla, everyday, the guilt keeps building up and the way she treated me and Ashley so nicely, I just can't! I'm afraid that... if I were to even go near her, that...
"Everything will go wrong. No matter how sincere your forgiveness is, she will never accept it and you'll end up worse than what you already are!" Damian cuts Zill off. Zill was surprised to see someone whom he never expected ever to share the same feelings as him.
"Zill, I get where you are going! It was the same for me. I was always afraid to apologize at her. I was just afraid that, no one will accept me in the end. But you know what Zill..." Damian says looking at Zill to which he looks back at him.
"That chance of forgiveness. Take it! You know Kayla better than I do. Three years of being with her... I think you know that she'll forgive you. You know that she isn't someone who'll keep a grudge. You just need to have.. faith... I guess!" Damian trails off.
Both of them just sat there in silence for a while. Neither of them really spoke or even moved a muscle. Suddenly, Zill was the first person to stand up followed by Damian. Without saying a word, Zill walked back out towards the stage with Damian behind his back. When he got out, he searched for Kayla and saw her still talking to Ashley. He was frozen in place as he hesitated on what to do. Suddenly, a hand was placed on his shoulder. He looked back to see Damian giving him an encouraging look, urging for him to go. He took a deep breath and walk towards them.
"Hey there Kayla!" Zill greeted first. His voice was a bit shaky but he tries to calm himself down.
"Oh.. hi.." Kayla greeted back but slowly.
Zill sense the uneasiness in her and wanted to end things quickly.
"Ashley, could you leave me and Kayla for a while?" Zill asked. Ashley who sense Zill's intention nodded and left. She went over to Damian who's leaning on the piano as both of them watches Zill and Kayla from afar.
"Kayla, I wanted to say that I'm sorry! I'm sorry for what I did to you! I didn't mean for you to get hurt. It was never my intention!" Zill said to her.
"Than what was your intention Zill... What did you expect?" Kayla cuts him off. Zill remained silent at her remark. After a while, Zill decides to speak.
"I didn't know what I expected. I know I broke your heart but I never had the intention to do so. I still love Ashley... but I don't want our friendship to end like this. Please, can you forgive me?" Zill begs to her. Kayla thought on it for a while but she decided to ask him one final question.
"Did you ever think it was my fault?" Kayla asks.
"No! Never! If anything, it was mine! I was selfish and I kept your hopes up. I'm sorry for that!" Zill explains. Kayla listened and kept quite for quite some time.
"Zill, I will always forgive you and I'm not against you and Ashley. You both are meant for each other. Nothing would've change that but after what you did, I'm not sure if I could trust you!" Kayla says to him. Zill's expression darkens at what she said.
"So, let's start over, from the beginning, as friends!" Kayla says as she extends her arm.
"Friends?" Kayla said. Zill's face immediately brightens.
"Friends!" He took her hand and shake it. He then pulled her in for a hug which she accepted. A burden lifted off his chest. He's glad he was give a second chance.
"Hey! Hey! That's my girlfriend prick!" Damian shouted from afar moving closer towards them with Ashley following him.
"Damian!" Kayla pouted at him.
"What, I'm just kidding! So you two made up?" Damian asked them as he moved next to Kayla.
"Yeah! Thanks man, for everything!" Zill says holding his fist forward to which Damian replied with a fist bump.
"No problem dude! It was nothing!" Damian said.
"I told you it would work out!" Ashley says next to Zill.
"Yeah, thank Ashy!" Zill says earning a kiss at the cheeks from her.
Damian and Kayla just look at the couple in front of them before smooching. Damian was glad that his partner finally found the closure she desperately needed. Their lives have completely changed and Damian was glad for everything that happened to him and the others. His life has gone for the better, not just for him but for the others as well. He didn't know what to expect after this but he knew he had people to experience it with.
