Huh? This doesn't seem so bad if you ask me.
When she had been told she wouldn't be allowed to leave this island until a jury of her peers deemed them ready to face off against anything thrown their way she would admit she was rather pissed. How dare they proclaim such a thing to her. It was already bad enough to have stared at nothing but the bars of her cell for months. To have that freedom she once had ripped away from her once again with her cell being traded away for an mystical island off in the middle of nowhere but she supposes it could be worse. These so-called trails they would have to face seemed like they would be a cake walk if this first exercise spoke volumes. To simply put jog down the beach shores following the path that had been shown to them before returning back to the temple to resume the next step in their training.
Training. That word alone still makes her groan. Training for what? She already had made her intentions quite clear. She would resume the role as Batgirl. She would help Terry face off against any major threats that may present itself in Gotham City but everything else? The night patrols? The constant messages and calls they would receive demanding they report to The Batcave at once. As far as she was concerned Bruce Wayne could take all of those things and shove them up his….
Instantly rounding the corner quickening her pace to catch up to her boyfriend in the distance any ill thoughts she might have had against the old man fly out the window when she catches another sight before her. She always knew her boyfriend kept in great shape. His stamina in her mind was off the charts. The way he could easily get through any simulation brought up in The Batcave's training room without breaking a sweat and at the rare times he did? She could only lick her lips just like she is right now. The way sweat drips down his exposed back as his sweat covered shirt is seen hanging over his right shoulder. The way the muscles on his back are being shown on full display for the world to see. This lean,mean,and fit body that is hers and hers alone.
A thought that simply makes a wide grin come across Melanie's face as she quickens the pace until she is keeping up with him stride for stride. A grin that quickly becomes noticed as Terry looks over and gives her a questionable look despite his own grin forming across his face.
" Just admiring the goods."
Snorting at the way her eyes just shine at him in mischief turning his head back forward as he sees a right turn coming up heading directly into the treeline looking back towards Melanie a wide grin comes across Terry's face.
" So? I showed you mine. How about you show me yours."
Glancing over towards Terry seeing him wagging his eyebrows unable to help herself from rolling her eyes despite the mischievous smile that is threatening to break across her face taking a quick look around seeing nobody in sight the moment they turn the corner into the treeline instantly Melanie pushes her boyfriend off the trail causing him to stagger backward and land on his ass on the grass before she immediately pounces on him as she comes to straddle his lap with her lips coming down to crash against his own. A kiss she can't help but smile in as she feels his hands roaming up her legs until they come up to grasp a tight hold of her ass cheeks just outside of her loose gym shorts. Oh how it would be so easy for them to get lost in this moment of bliss.
Unlucky for them however that suddenly a throat being cleared rather loudly causes the couple to break away from the kiss with identical wide eyes. These identical looks of shock with each looking around for sight of the person that dared ruin their moment. Someone that they can't see anywhere on the path in front of them or behind them, confusing each of them greatly before realization kicks in making them turn their sights to look up finding a smirking Wonder Woman looking down upon them from the sky above with her arms crossed over her chest. This smirk that to her amusement makes the young couple below her start to blush a deep crimson as they break apart just enough for each to turn around to pay her their full attention.
Just how long has she been there!? Was she watching us the whole time!?
A thought itself that makes Melanie's blush deepen even further. Just the mere thought of getting caught in the act by a legendary superheroine like her makes her want to die and hide underneath a rock. To think she actually heard everything she said. To think she saw all the looks she had been giving to her boyfriend. That was enough to make her want to go hiding inside of their bed chambers for a few days.
" Well? Anything you would like to say for yourselves?"
Glancing back and forth between the young couple waiting patiently for an answer trying her best to keep the stern look across her face despite the fact she wants nothing more than to laugh outright down at them after a couple of intense seconds of silence instantly to the shock of the young blonde on the ground Wonder Woman watches the young man point an accusing finger at his girlfriend.
" It was all her mam. She just couldn't keep her hands off from me."
Snapping her head to her side to look towards her grinning boyfriend with nothing but outrage not needing to think twice about it Melanie roughly pushes Terry away causing him to bounce off the grass a few feet away. A shove that cracks the armor in Wonder Woman's facade making her smirk down at the young couple while she shakes her head in amusement.
" Yes, I can clearly see that Mr Mcginnis."
Smiling triumpahnly at her boyfriend despite her eyes screaming murder at him turning her sifhts back towards the descending Wonder Woman before she has a chance to respond Melanie is silenced when the amazonian princess raises up a hand.
" Now while I clearly see you care for each other, I suggest you keep such activities inside of your bed chambers. My fellow sisters may not be as forgiving as i am."
With realization quickly sinking in to what the superheroine in front of her is saying glancing over towards her boyfriend seeing that he is having the same conclusion from the way his face has suddenly paled nodding her head in understanding reaching out Melanie takes Terry's hand within her own before turning her sights back towards Wonder Woman finding her looking down towards them with a smile.
" Good now that's been straightened out, I do believe you have some more running to do yes? I expect you to finish up here and meet back up with me without anymore….interruptions taking place."
Seeing their face blushing bright red giving each of them a quick stern look making sure the message is received loud and clear being met with nods of understanding giving them a quick nod turning on her heels the moment she positions herself to once again take flight movement coming from behind her causes Wonder Woman's attention.
" Why are you doing this?"
Looking over her shoulder to give the young woman in front of her a questionable look as she sees Melanie rising back up to her feet turning fully to give her undivided attention to her crossing her arms over her chest Wonder Woman motions for her to continue.
" I mean, I don't get it. What do you gain out of all of this?"
A very good question with the simplest of answers for her to give. Could she tell them that she gains Bruce? She could but that didn't feel that was enough. She has seen the way this young couple has interacted with Bruce. She wouldn't put it past him to have already gotten on these young teens nerves. He has and always will be stubborn to the bone after all. Could she tell them that finally she gets to reunite their small family? That would be a better explanation but only one word comes to her mind when thinking about this question.
" Everything."
Receiving nothing but confused looks from the young couple motioning for them to follow her slowly Wonder Woman turns on her heels and makes her way down the path heading further into the treeline. An action that makes Melanie and Terry share a quick look before they quickly rush up to catch up with her as she stares straight ahead.
" This might come as a shock to you since neither of you truly get along well with him but there is a great man underneath that hard exterior. When I first met him, I had the same opinion of him. How he was so guarded never letting anyone in. You could say he is still this way."
" Then what changed?"
Instantly drawing the amazonian princess's attention shrugging her shoulders Melanie gives Wonder Woman an interested look.
" What made you well….see him in another light."
" Many things. You may think he's rather paranoid with the things he does. The night patrols. The constant need to have The Batman show his face in Gotham just to remind the criminals that he is out there but there is a reason for his madness."
Not even bothering to hide her smile coming to a stop causing the young couple to stop in tow Wonder Woman turns towards them with nothing but happiness in her eyes.
" It is the very thing that draws me to him. He has such a great sense of justice. To overcome any odds stacked against him and achieve his goals no matter what enemy whether foreign or domestic. Even now after years away from wearing the cowl his sense of justice still burns as bright as it has ever been."
Seeing a bit of understanding forming in each of their eyes turning her head back forward to once again adventure down the path after a few moments of traveling in silence feeling their eyes on her letting out a sigh Wonder Woman glances back over her shoulder at them.
" You have not asked me this but i can sense you want to. The reason why you are here is simple. It is time that Bruce finally leaves Gotham City in his past where it belongs. To do so, I was required to promise some things."
Hearing their footsteps coming to a sudden halt coming to a stop herself glancing over her shoulder as she sees Terry and Melanie staring at her in nothing but shock taking a quick look around seeing a fallen log nearby motioning for them to take a seat silently Wonder Woman waits for them to take a seat before she continues.
" Even after learning about his daughter, he was still rather reluctant to leave Gotham City but I convinced him otherwise. The terms of our agreement were fairly simple. He required that each of you were to have proper training here on Themyscira. A rather simple request…."
Instantly earning a snort as she sees Melanie snap her attention towards Terry to glare at him without missing a beat Wonder Woman raises an questionable eyebrow in his direction.
" Nothing is ever simple when it comes to the old man."
Deciding to bite her tongue on the disrespect the young man is showing, nodding her head slightly in agreement Wonder Woman crosses her arms over her chest. How dare he insult his mentor like that! How dare he insult her life partner like that! It had been quite amusing at first but to hear it now? To hear the small amount of disdain in his voice. It was simply appalling.
" It is true. When it comes to Bruce nothing is ever simple. He doesn't look at things like the way others do. When others simply look at what's in front of them, Bruce on the other hand thinks two moves ahead. It is what made him a great hero. That is the goal we are looking to achieve before you leave these grounds."
Turning to focus on Terry seeing him about to retort instantly Wonder Woman silences him as she gives him a pointed look.
" I know what you are thinking Mr Mcginnis. Let me make this one thing perfectly clear to you right now. Despite what you believe you are not ready."
Instantly as she sees his eyes harden unfazed by the look a challenging look comes across Wonder Woman's face.
" I have seen footage of your battles and i'm not impressed. You have great potential in you but you fail to use it. You could become the next great hero this world has ever seen. At least that's what Bruce thinks. You may insult him. You may think he is paranoid however his instincts are rarely wrong. He sees something in you that nobody else has seen and if I were you, I would start taking things a little more seriously and believe me, I take no pleasure in saying this to you. If you continue on the path you are on right now. This unfulfilling and straight line putting your personal life before your duties then one day in the future you will find yourself outmatched and you will die by another's hand."
