At the Cobra Kai dojo, Kreese is practicing a number of combinations and strikes, when Hawk, Mitch and Red enter. Kreese notices that Hawk's eyes are burnt with a bright red streak from the pepper spray, while a bruise is on Red's neck and Mitch is dripping with sweat from helping both boys enter the dojo.
"Want to tell me what you're all doing here?" asks Kreese.
"We got jumped, Sensei", says Mitch.
"Let me guess: LaRusso?"
"LaRusso's old lady got the jump on us", says Hawk.
Kreese squints in confusion at the sound of someone with seemingly no martial arts experience, being able to defeat his tops students.
"Did you hesitate?" asks Kreese.
Despite fear of hurting a woman, Hawk answers with conviction.
"No, Sensei", says Hawk.
"Then how could you let this happen?" asks Kreese.
"She had pepper spray, Sensei", says Red.
"And she punched Red in the throat", says Mitch.
Despite their honesty, Kreese huffs at the sound of their excuses.
"When you're done squirming like little pussies, get back out there and finish the fight", says Kreese.
While they heard Kreese's commands, all three boys stand there in confusion.
"Do you have a problem with that?" asks Kreese.
Not wanting to fight anymore after the feeling of humiliation and defeat, Hawk stands up and looks at Kreese.
"Yes, Sensei", says Hawk.
"Excuse me?" asks Kreese
"What's the point in fighting if we can't win?"
Kreese sneers at the question and walks in Hawk's face.
"You want ask me that again?" asks Kreese.
"If we can't win, what's the point?" asks Hawk.
Hearing the repeat of the question, Kreese attempts to backhand Hawk, but the latter blocks swiftly and front kicks his Sensei in the sternum, knocking him down into a crawling position, and without hesitation, Hawk delivers a front knee to Kreese's face. With blood trickling from his nose and mouth, Kreese begins to rise again and chuckles at the site of it.
"You done, Mr. Moskowitz?" asks Kreese.
Hearing his last name, Hawk looks away in disgust at the thought of being his former self.
"It's Hawk", he says.
"Oh, no, you have lost all right to use that name in my dojo", says Kreese.
Not wanting to lose the fight, Hawk stands tall against Kreese, while Red and Mitch, stand back.
"What makes you think you can beat me?" asks Kreese.
"Defeat does not exist", says Hawk.
Seeing that his student will not back down, Kreese decides to stand relaxed.
"You're right – you win", says Kreese.
"Since when do you show mercy?" asks Hawk.
"The fight is over when I say it is".
"Fear does not exist, Kreese".
"Excuse me?"
Wanting to prove a point, Hawk charges at Kreese. Stepping back into stance, Kreese readies for the offence and trips Hawk up. Reminiscent of Johnny tripping Daniel up when they first met. Hawk lands face down on the campus. Kreese walks slowly towards Hawk. Not accepting defeat, Hawk kicks Kreese in the knee and a crunch is heard. Kreese wails in pain and grabs the area. Springing back up, Hawk front kicks Kreese to the ground and lands a round elbow to his face, knocking him out cold.
"What the hell, Hawk?" asks Mitch.
Looking down at his sensei with a look of pride and shock, Hawk smiles in glee.
"COBRA KAI!" screams Hawk.
Red and Mitch smile with excitement. Realising they had defeated the King Cobra himself, Hawk and his gang cheer and walk out as if they had won a match. As they leave, Kreese remains unconscious until his eyes spring open.
At the Betty Ford Clinic, Robby and Johnny arrive at the entrance gates. The security guard greets them.
"Can I help you, sir?" asks the guard.
"John Lawrence, here to see Shannon Keene", says Johnny.
"And you are?"
"I'm her ex".
The guard looks at him with a hint of suspicion.
"Look, my son wants to see his Mom, can you give us a break?" asks Johnny.
"You could have just said that – go ahead", says the guard.
Realising they have clearance, Johnny enters.
Entering the reception area, Johnny and Robby are greeted by the man working behind the counter. His nametag reads "Jerry".
"Hey, man", says Johnny.
"Good evening, sir", says Jerry.
"My son is here to his mom, Shannon Keene".
"One moment, please".
Looking at his computer, Jerry types and opens Shannon's file for his eyes only.
"Oh, my", says Jerry.
"What is it?" asks Robby.
"Ms. Keene has put down on her application that she doesn't want any visitors".
Hearing those words stab Robby in the heart, in the same way he found out that Sam kissed Miguel.
"There's got to be some sort of mistake", says Johnny.
"There's no mistake, sir", says Jerry.
Not giving up, Robby approaches the desk.
"Can I please have a pen and paper?" asks Robby.
"No personal notes, either, young man – Ms. Keene says no visitors, no letters, no contact with anyone", says Jerry.
"Look, man, my kid has been through a lot, and he just wants to see if Shan is ok".
"Honestly, I don't know, I don't deal with the patients, I only fill out the paperwork and submit it".
Feeling hopeless, Johnny puts his hand on Robby's shoulder.
"Come on", says Johnny.
Keeing his hand on his shoulder and pulling him closer for a hug, Johnny leads Robby outside.
"This is bullshit," says Robby.
"I know, man", says Johnny.
"Why would she not want to see me?"
"You know what your mom is like – she always puts herself first".
Hearing that he is bagging her out again, Robby shoves Johnny hard enough that he falls over. Not angry, but agitated, Johnny grits his teeth hard.
"I said, don't talk about her like that!" screams Robby.
"Well, what do you want to hear, Robby? That your mom is a saint? Well, she's not! And I know, she's not, because neither am I!"
"Yeah, no shit!"
"But guess what? I'm all you've got! And you're all I've got!"
Not wanting to call him out and mention Daniel, Robby tries to understand Johnny. While at the same time, Johnny remembers that he once tried to write him a letter.
"Okay, I get it – I'm a screw up", says Johnny.
"Dad…", says Robby.
"My biggest screw-up is my relationship with you, and I know I can't change the past…"
Before he can finish his sentence, Johnny is feeling every word, every feeling, every past mistake, every thought, and every triumph, hit him all at once. This is now caught in his throat and he can't get the words. Instead, Johnny grabs Robby's arms.
"But if…if you give me another chance…I will be there for you…every…day…"
Trying to hold it together, tears begin to stream down Johnny's face, as he sharply inhales through his nose. Robby can see this and pulls his Dad in for an embrace. It is in this moment that both father and son have reunited.
