Christmas Eve
Spencer House
Juliet and Shawn sat on the couch watching Elf when Juliet's phone rang.
Juliet picked up the phone and saw that it was Karen.
"Hello?" Juliet asked.
"Hey. Can you do me a huge favor?" Karen asked.
"What's up?"
"Lassiter is out with the flu. He has two reports that need to be done by 5 this afternoon."
"It's 2:30 now."
"I know. I thought he had them done until he called in."
"Yeah, I'll be there in a little bit."
"Thank you so much, Juliet."
"Of course."
Juliet hung up the phone and leaned against Shawn.
"You got to go in?" Shawn asked.
Juliet nodded, "I don't want to."
Shawn wrapped his arms around Juliet and pulled her closer, "I know sweetheart. Want me to come with you?"
"No. I'll be home in a couple hours."
Juliet turned her head and looked at Shawn, "Babe, call your dad and invite him to Christmas tomorrow."
"I have a better idea. I'll come with you to the station and then when you're done, we can drop by my dad's house and talk to him for a little bit."
"I'm cool with that. Are we getting food?"
"I'm sure we can work something out."
"Well the bump wants tacos."
"Oh really now?"
Juliet smiled and nodded.
"Fine. On the way home, we will grab tacos."
Juliet got up and got her shoes on and went and brushed her teeth and put her hair in a messy ponytail.
Shawn got off the couch and got the keys and waited by the door for her.
Juliet came down the hall with her purse on her shoulder.
"Ready?" Shawn asked.
Juliet nodded.
Shawn opened the door and unlocked the car.
Juliet got in and buckled up.
Shawn set the alarm and locked up before getting in the car. He got in the car and drove to the station.
Shawn pulled into the SBPD parking lot and parked in his spot.
Shawn and Juliet walked into the station and was met by Karen with a stack of paper in her hand.
"Oh good, you're here." Karen said.
"Yep. How bad is it?" Juliet asked.
"Not bad. Just two. Shouldn't take you but 45 minutes."
"Ok."
Juliet took the stack and got to work.
15 minutes later Shawn got up and walked around.
"Uh Spencer, what are you doing?" Juliet asked.
"I can't sit still." Shawn said.
Juliet pointed to the seat next to her and looked at Shawn.
"You're joking." Shawn said.
"Shawn. Sit. Now." Juliet said through her teeth.
Shawn pulled the chair up to the desk and looked at the reports.
"This dude again?" Shawn asked.
"What do you mean again?" Juliet asked.
"We arrested him a couple of years ago."
"For the arson?"
"Yeah."
"I knew his name looked familiar."
"What did he do this time?"
"Armed robbery."
Shawn rolled his eyes.
Juliet finished 30 minutes later.
Juliet turned to Shawn and saw him sleeping.
"Baby." Juliet whispered.
Juliet nudged Shawn's knee.
"Hmmm?" Shawn mumbled.
"I'm finished. Let's go." Juliet whispered.
Shawn nodded.
Juliet got up and walked over to Karen's office.
"You done?" Karen asked.
"Yep. Me and the hubs are on the way home." Juliet said.
"Well you two have fun. I'll see you guys tomorrow. What time?"
"Noon?"
"Shawn's going to be up?"
"You know what? Make it 1."
Karen chuckled, "I'll see you guys tomorrow."
"You too."
Juliet left Karen's office and grabbed Shawn's hand.
"Ready?" Juliet asked.
Shawn nodded.
Shawn and Juliet walked out of the station and got in the car and headed to Henry's.
Shawn pulled into the driveway of his childhood home and looked at Juliet.
"You ok?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah." Shawn said.
Shawn and Juliet got out of the car and went and knocked on the door.
Henry came to the door and opened it and was surprised to see Shawn.
"Hey." Henry said.
"Hey." Shawn responded.
"Want to come in?"
Shawn nodded.
Henry stepped out of the doorway to allow Juliet and Shawn to come in.
Shawn made his way to the fridge and grabbed a beer.
"Wow Shawn." Henry said.
Shawn turned to Henry and glared at him.
Henry went and sat down in his chair.
Juliet put her purse on the kitchen table and went and sat down by Shawn.
"How are you feeling, Juliet?" Henry asked.
"A lot better." Juliet said.
"That's good. How far along are you?"
"Almost 10 weeks."
"Shawn how have you been?"
"Good. I wanted to thank you again for coming to the hospital." Shawn said.
"Of course."
"Um, are you doing anything tomorrow?"
"No."
"Would you like to come over for Christmas lunch?"
"Yeah. Can I talk to you outside for a second?"
"Sure."
Shawn followed Henry outside on the porch and sat down.
"What's up?" Shawn asked.
"Go get Juliet." Henry said.
Shawn poked his head inside, "Baby, come outside for a second."
Juliet got up and walked over to Shawn, "Is everything ok?"
"Yeah, come on."
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand and sat down next to him on the bench.
"What's up pops?" Shawn asked.
"I would like to apologize to the both of you." Henry said.
"Go on."
"I'm sorry for what I said at the wedding and rehearsal dinner. The truth is, I am excited for the both of you."
"Why'd you say what you said?"
"I honestly don't know. You two have a very healthy relationship and my relationships aren't healthy and I kind of projected my anger out on you."
"Wait…are you jealous of the relationship Jules and I have?"
"Yeah. Very."
Shawn smiled.
"And when your mom called me saying that Juliet was in the hospital, I ran out of this house and hurried up there. I was worried that she lost the baby."
"To be honest, I was too."
"I am really excited for you on becoming a dad."
"No offense dad, but I'm going to do everything in my power not to act like you."
"I will do everything in my power to not let you act like I did."
Shawn grabbed Juliet's hand and smiled at her.
"Thank you dad. It means a lot to us."
"Yes, thank you." Juliet said.
"What time should I be there tomorrow?" Henry asked.
"I told Karen 1." Juliet said.
"1?"
"Your son likes his sleep."
Shawn smiled, "Yeah I do. Plus it's our first Christmas married."
"Ew." Henry said.
"She's already pregnant."
Juliet looked at Shawn and blushed.
"But no, seriously, we want to spend it by ourselves for the first few hours."
"Aren't you leaving for your honeymoon the day after?"
"Yeah."
"You'll be by yourself for 2 weeks."
"I know, but Christmas dad. We have spent 4 Christmases together, but this is our first one married. It's a little more special, plus Jules is pregnant."
"Since when did you become sentimental?"
"When that little blonde sitting next to me kissed me on a bridge 4 years ago."
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand.
Shawn's stomach growled and Juliet heard it.
"Are you hungry baby?" Juliet asked.
"A little bit." Shawn said.
"Ready to go get food?"
Shawn nodded.
Henry stood up with Shawn and Juliet.
Shawn and Juliet walked to the door and Henry followed them.
"Well guys, thank you for the visit." Henry said.
"Of course." Juliet said.
Henry pulled Shawn into a hug, "I love you son."
"I love you too, dad." Shawn said.
Shawn pulled on Juliet's arm and pulled her into the hug.
"I love you too, Juliet." Henry said.
"I love you too." Juliet said.
Shawn turned to Juliet and kissed her, "I love you so much more."
"Not more than I love you." Juliet said.
Shawn smiled and kissed Juliet one more time.
"Dad, we will see you tomorrow. Bring a cake. Not a fruit cake." Shawn said.
"Are you making the little pies?" Henry asked.
"Jules, want to help?"
"Yeah." Juliet said.
"Then yes."
"I will see you guys later."
"Bye dad."
Shawn and Juliet left Henry's house and went and got tacos.
They got home with the tacos and sat at the table and ate them.
It was nearing 4:30 that afternoon and Juliet went and sat down on the couch.
"Are you cooking tonight?" Shawn asked.
"No. We're just doing a little party here, since we are leaving the day after." Juliet said.
"So people are bringing stuff?"
"Yes."
Shawn walked over to the couch and sat down next to Juliet and cuddled up to her.
"I love you." Juliet said.
"I love you too." Shawn said.
"I'm glad you and your dad worked things out."
"We still have stuff to work through, but I'm glad too."
"I wasn't expecting an apology."
"Henry Spencer never apologizes, I was shocked too."
"Do you want to finish Elf?"
"Nah, I need to nap. I need to be a full energy to make those pies."
Juliet laughed, "Ok. Let's nap."
Shawn and Juliet took a nap.
2 Hours Later
2 hours later Juliet woke up from her nap in Shawn's arms. She twisted a little bit and cuddled into Shawn a little more and kissed his neck.
Shawn wrapped his arms around Juliet and smiled, "Hey love."
"Hey. How was your nap?" Juliet whispered.
"Good. How was yours?"
"Good. That was probably one of the best naps I've had in a while."
"We've taken a lot of naps together."
"Yes we have. Better soak it in."
"Why?"
"Once the baby is here, naps are out the window."
Shawn narrowed his eyes not liking that answer.
"Sorry sweetie."
"Don't worry Jules, I can make this kid like naps."
"I don't think it works like that."
"We'll see."
"Are you ready to make the pies?"
Shawn nodded.
Shawn got off the couch and stretched and felt his back pop. He offered his hand to Juliet to help her up.
"Thank you." Juliet said.
"Of course." Shawn said.
Shawn and Juliet made their way into the kitchen and started on the pies.
"How many people are coming tomorrow?" Shawn asked.
"Me, you, Karen and her family, Gus, McNab and his family, your parents, and Lassiters, so 12." Juliet answered.
"12?"
"Yes."
"That's a lot of people."
"I know, they will only be here a few hours."
"We need to pack."
"Exactly. And our plane leaves at 9 am the next morning."
"Ew."
Juliet laughed and kissed Shawn.
They made the pies and Shawn was making one last one.
"What are you doing?" Juliet asked.
Shawn moved out of the way and showed Juliet her apple pie.
"Shawn, you know you don't have to make me one." Juliet said.
"I don't want you to be left out." Shawn said.
"Thank you baby. You're so sweet."
"I will always make you baby apple pies for the rest of our lives."
"That's a long time."
"That is a long time Jules. Are you ready for it?"
"We've been married a week, I think I can handle forever."
Shawn turned around from the stove and went and grabbed Juliet by her waist, "Good. I am never letting you go…ever."
"I'm not that stupid to let you get away a second time."
Shawn's smile faltered.
"Shawn don't do that." Juliet said.
"Do what Jules?" Shawn asked.
"Don't do that thing where you shut down."
"Why not?"
"We're married you doofus. We're not breaking up ever again. You have me for like forever. I'm not going anywhere."
"Jules, the breakup was my fault and I feel horrible still."
"Babe, it's been a year, we have gotten through so much shit to get here. If we can get past that, we can make it through anything."
Shawn nodded.
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand and pulled him closer.
"Look at me." Juliet whispered.
Shawn looked at Juliet.
"Baby, we are inseparable. We're having a baby together. I mean how is this not what you dreamed of?" Juliet whispered.
"You're the only person I pictured having a family with." Shawn said.
"Exactly. Now erase the breakup. We are MARRIED and I'm pregnant. We have a whole new life ahead of us Spencer."
Shawn smiled and nodded.
"I love you Juliet." Shawn said.
"I love you too, Shawn." Juliet said.
Shawn put the finishing touches on the pies and put them in the fridge for tomorrow.
They cleaned up the kitchen and went back in the living room and watched TV for the rest of the day.
