The Case of the Swallowed Sweets
While the sun was setting on another day in Trollstopia, Poppy was sorting through her scrapbook supplies, reorganizing them for whenever she wanted to scrapbook later when suddenly, her nose caught a whiff of something delicious. She inhaled the pleasant aroma before saying, "Ah! It's here! It's finally here"! She rushed out and ran into the town square where she found a huge booth set up with a ginormous kitchen set behind it. Holly was setting things up while wearing a pink apron and a tall chef's hat, as she hummed a country tune. Poppy ran towards her, shouting, "Holly! Is that delicious smell what I think it is"?! Holly nodded, saying, "As sure as the world is round, y'all betcha! My first batch ov my special chimmy country chocolate churros is set ayn' ready ta distribute tomorrow faw International Sweets Day! Care ta take a peek"? Holly picked up a tray that had a silver lid on it and placed the tray onto her booth's shelf. She slowly opened the lid and revealed the long, doughy, sugary, cinnamony, chocolate-covered, decorated with sprinkles, pretzels, and nuts, sweet treat. Poppy's eyes widened as she had a huge smile, almost drooling over how delicious they looked. She reached out to grab one, but Holly swatted her hand away and placed the lid back on, saying, "Uh-Uh. Y'all will get ta taste one tomorrow, so don't ya try sneaking any frawum me until the next day ."
At that moment, Melody was walking by when she froze, sniffing the smell of the tasty aroma as she said, "MMMMM! Is that the scent of your chimmy country chocolate churros, Holly?! They smell delicious"! Holly blushed and replied, 'Thanks, sugar. These treats were my favorite ta eat a-growin' up, so it brings me joy ta be recreating those childhood memories ayn' a-sharin' this here treat with all av ya." Melody licked her lips as she said, "Right now, I don't know where to say I'm hungry right now or I have a craving right now. Either way, my sweet tooth is brimming with anticipation."Poppy then asked, "Melody, are you making anything for International Sweets Day"? The pop/rock troll smiled, saying, "You bet! Val and I will introduce you guys to our favorite rock troll delicacies: Rock candy lollipops and molten lava truffles. Don't worry. They're not spicy; they're little chocolate balls that have nicely melted chocolate inside. So when you take a bite, your mouth instantly fills up with the gooey goodness, kind of like molten lava, hence the name." Then, Rhythm and Blues joined up with them as both sisters said in unison, "Hey, ladies," with the group saying hello back. Holly then asked, "Rhythm, Holly, what are ya both a-makin' for International Sweets Day"? Rhythm started by saying, "Only a funk troll's favorite treat in the known universe: three different kinds of pudding, girl"!
Blues continued, "Yep! We're making chocolate pudding, vanilla pudding, and rice pudding"! At the sound of rice pudding, Poppy, holly, and Melody's faces showed weirded out expressions as Melody asked, "You can make pudding out of rice"? The funk twins nodded as Rhythm explained, "It may sound and look a little weird at first, but once you try it, you'll see why we like it." Poppy then asked, "Wonder what the others are going to bring." Holly spoke up, saying, "Well, ay heard that Dante is a-bringin' a delicacy called flan, which is similar to pudding, but more like a cake. Ay don't know what it is, but ay'm a-willin' to try it." Melody added, "I heard Synth is making something called oyster cookies, and while like the rice pudding, it sounds weird, I heard it's actually pretty good. Especially dipped in chocolate." All five girls closed their eyes and licked their lips in anticipation as Poppy exclaimed, "Either way, I can't wait for tomorrow," with Melody saying, "My stomach is rumbling just thinking about it." Then, Blues asked, "Hey, does anyone know what Aggie's bringing"? Poppy said excitedly, "She's making an old family recipe from Harmonious Land, and it's something she's extra excited about."
"Rainbow music cupcakes," exclaimed Aggie as she was pulling a batch of colorful, rainbow muffins out of the oven. They looked bright, vibrant, and ready to eat as Aggie placed the muffins onto a plate and tossed the tray into the sink, along with other cooking utensils she used. Then, she grabbed a blue bowl that was full of rainbow frosting as she said, "Now, to add the final touch: music note-themed sprinkles"! Aggie grabbed a small sprinkle jar and added many sprinkles into the frosting as she mixed it up. The notes played a tune, whether it was pop, rock, funk, classical, country, or techno, hence emphasizing the name music cupcakes. Once the frosting was finished, she quickly began to spread them on the cupcakes, just like a professional. Once she was done, she placed her finished batch in a box and placed the box by the door and the 55 other boxes there. Aggie wiped her forehead while saying, "Phew! It took me all day, but I finished! Now, everyone will get to enjoy my special Harmonious Land treat! I hope they like it"! Aggie then went to wash up and get ready for bed as she felt so excited about seeing everyone's faces light up in happiness once they try her cupcakes."
The next morning, Aggie woke up to what sounded like horrified screams. She quickly got dressed and zoomed outside, asking, "What's going on"?! Once she landed, she saw that all of the booths for International Sweets Day were trashed. Not only that, but everyone's treated were either eaten up, bitten, half-eaten, or all the above. Everyone looked distraught as Holly held a half-eaten churro, saying, "All that hard work reduced to nothin' but mere crumbs." Synth held his empty tray in sadness while Melody and Val picked up half-eaten truffles and lollipop sticks. Aggie went up to Poppy and asked, "Poppy, what happened? Who did this"? The pop queen answered, "We don't know. Everyone came down here to start setting up, and we came across this horrific sight"! Dante held a broken glass cup as he said, "This is indeed a travesty," as Rhythm asked while picking up empty pudding containers, "What I wanna know is who did this. It surely couldn't be an animal because we would've seen animal tracks"! Aggie walked toward all the booths and looked around, saying, "I don't know, either. but I do know is that it seems like we have a...mystery," which she said in a dramatic voice.
Holly perked up as she said, "Well then, ay know just who ta call," as she whistled really loudly. The sound of thunderous galloping could be heard as Lonesome Flat's detective Buckaroo appeared, asking, "Ya ringed me, Holly"? Aggie perked up and ran to Buckaroo as she said, "Buckaroo, we have a mystery. Some snuck outside last night and ate all the sweets everyone prepared for International Sweets Day today. We have a mystery we need to solve." Buckaroo pulled out her magnifying glass while Aggie placed on her rainbow cowgirl hat as Buckaroo stated, "Fear nahwt, ever' troll. Detectives Buckaroo ayn' Aggie is on that case! we'll faand our sweets muncher ayn' bring justice faw those there who worked tirelessly ta bake these goodies. Right, partner"? Aggie tipped her hat and said, "Right, partner," as Buckaroo and Aggie were ready to solve the mystery together. (For the music for their theme song, think of it as the music from the James Bond movies)

Buckaroo gave Aggie an extra magnifying glass as they both began to inspect the messy crime scene. Aggie then found what looked like tiny footprints as she said, "Buckaroo! Come look at this"! Buckaroo trotted over to Aggie and took a look herself, seeing the footprints underneath the mess of frostings, pudding, crumbs, and melted chocolate. Buckaroo tipped her hat as she commented, "Kind spotting there, partner. Whoevuurr done ate all these sweets has tiny feet, which leaves us ayy myriad av possibilities." Aggie nodded, saying, "Most likely, our culprit is small, but that doesn't mean that we can only rely on that. We need to follow these footprints and see if it'll lead us to our first prime suspect." Buckaroo then placed her magnifying glass away as she says, "In that case, hop on Aggie," as Aggie hopped onto Buckaroo's back. The country troll turned and faced the crowd as she proudly stated, "Naw wawries ever' troll. We shall solve this here mystery aw our names are nahwt Buckaroo Ringer ayn' Aggie...uh...kiddo, what's your last name"? Aggie giggled as she said, "I'll tell you later. for now, let's solve this mystery. Hyah," as Buckaroo stood on her hind legs and kicked her front legs in the air, letting out what sounded like a loud whinny before she began to gallop, the detective duo following the trail of footprints.
The trail led them into the forest as Aggie says, "For a troll with small footprints, they were sure able to travel so far." Buckaroo commented, "Yeah, y'all make ayy darn good point, Aggie. But what we should first considuurr is who would wan-ta be out here"? Suddenly, they noticed that the footprints led into a small bush that began to rustle in excitement. Buckaroo and Aggie prepared to act in case whatever came out were dangerous. Luckily for them, the mysterious figure revealed himself to be Tiny Diamond, who shouted excitedly, "Hey yo, ladies! What's happening up in here"? Aggie asked, "Tiny Diamond, what are you doing out here in the forest"? As Buckaroo picked up the tiny silver glitter troll, he replied, "You see, this morning, I came out early to see all the fun booths for International Sweets Day, but found that they were trashed and all the treats were eaten. I was horrified, but then, I heard something run away as I got closer. So, I decided to follow whatever it was, but so far, it led me to this bush, and I was taking a peak until I heard you two approach." Buckaroo then asked, "Did ya eat any av the remaining treats frawum the crahm scene, Tiny? Ayn' was ya able ta faand what ya thought y'all done saw? Tiny shook his head, answering, 'I didn't eat a single crumb, though the remains did look really good. But I resisted and decided to channel my smooth flow and try to find what I heard. I couldn't see it properly, though, but I did catch what looked like a tail. It looked a lot smaller than yours, Buckaroo, but it seemed similar."
Aggie looked at Buckaroo's tail before turning back to Tiny, asking, "Anything else were you able to see or hear"? Tiny thought for a minute before saying, "I heard what sounded like...chewing? But it was pretty faint." Buckaroo wrote this down as she said, "Hm. This here ken provide an essential clue." Aggie then got an idea as she placed Tiny on top of her hat, saying, "Stick with us, Tiny. You can help us out in solving our mystery. You mind pointing us into the direction you were looking"? Tiny nodded and pointed northwest, saying, "Thataway! Let's go,"! Buckaroo entered the brush as the trio carefully trekked through the green and looked under all the rocks, branches, and plants, searching for more valuable clues. Buckaroo then noticed something as she began to walk towards a huge pine tree. On the ground was a puddle that seemed to look like mud, but it had some white mixed into it. Buckaroo dipped her finger into it and tasted it, saying, "Chocolate"! Aggie and Tiny came over while the Magical Musical troll took a sniff of the puddle, saying, "She's right! It's chocolate"! Tiny tipped his shades as he said, "Oh yeah! Daddy'll be proud when he hears we found a clue"! Aggie then pulled the plants around the puddle away as she found what looked like a half-eaten churro next to two new sets of footprints. Aggie looked at them through a magnifying glass, saying, "Huh. These footprints on the left seem familiar, but the ones on the right are kind of peculiar."
Buckaroo walked towards the sets of footprints as she bent down to take a closer look, saying, "Thay left set ov footprints are similar because they're hoofprints, but they are pretty awful small ta belong ta an average country troll. It's highly likely that there it could belong ta ayy youngin', but it doesn't explain the othuurr set ov footprints." Aggie examined the other set of footprints as she stated, "It seems like they're going in the same direction as the hoofprints. I have an idea on what these footprints could be, but we'll have to follow them to see if my guess is correct." Aggie hopped back onto Buckaroo as the country troll commented, "Then, let's go," as she galloped and followed the trail of footprints for a while. They ended up following them into a desert as the trail continued on for what looked like eternity. Tiny Diamond commented, "Man, it is hot out here, and usually, I am the one who's shining brighter than the sun at home." Aggie pulled the top edge of her dress as she said, "Why do deserts always have to be so hot"? Buckaroo replied, "Whel, without water, the land ken go one ayn' be bare faw many country miles. Y'all get done used ta it as tahm goes on."
Then, Aggie noticed something in the distance as she said, "Buckaroo, halt a minute"! As Buckaroo came to a stop, dust appearing as she skidded her feet, Aggie explained, "There's something over there by that huge cactus." Aggie got up and flew towards the cactus, Tiny holding onto the top of her hat for dear life. Chocolate and rice pudding covered a huge green cactus, and some melted truffles, and half-eaten churros around the cactus. Tiny exclaimed, "More evidence! Mystery-solving party is off the chain, yo," as he blasted his airhorns in celebration. Buckaroo picked up a half-eaten churro and looked at it, putting it in a plastic bag while saying, "Mawe sweet treats. We're getting close ta a-findin' our culprit, aw culprits as it seems because ov thay ...err second set ov footprints." Aggie used a small file to collect some of the pudding on the cactus and placed them in two separate small jars. Suddenly, the trio was interrupted by Milton Moss, who was surprisingly in the desert, apparently looking for something. And he wasn't alone. Delta Dawn was with him, and she too seemed to be looking for something. The group started to walk towards them as Aggie first said, "Hi, Milton! What brings you out here," as Buckaroo asked, "What brings y'all out here, boss"?
Delta and Milton turned and saw the trio as Milton said, "I've been in Lonesome Flats helping to take care of some of the animals here. I've been helping her take care of a young puffalo, but last night, it escaped and ran off. We found its tracks, and we've been tracking them, hoping to find the puffalo before it gets hurt." Delta added, "Whahl ay'm a-helpin' Milton look faw the a-missin' puffalo, he's also a-helpin' me look faw Clampers. She seemed ta just disappear last naheet running aftuurr the puffalo, ayn' now, we ken't faand huurr. Ay'm nervous that there she might be hurt aw worse." Everyone gasped, as Aggie commented, "This mystery getting more mysterious every minute. now, we have a missing puffalo and a missing troll along with finding our culprit on who ate all the sweets." Buckaroo tipped her hat and said, "Hm. Hold up ayy minute, Aggie. Maybe there's ayy way all av our mysteries are done connected." Aggie thought for a minute before saying, "Buckaroo, you might be onto something. What if..." when suddenly, she was interrupted with Tiny saying, "Hey! What's that over there"?
Everyone turned their heads to see where Tiny was pointing as they saw a small cave in the distance. And inside the cave was something white and fluffy, almost like a cloud. Milton said, "It looks like there's something inside. Wait a minute...that's a puffalo"! Buckaroo then said, "Well, what are we a-waitin' for? Let's go check it out," as everyone started to run towards the cave. Once they made it to the entrance, Buckaroo and Aggie crept forward slowly to see what was inside, with Tiny looking on top of Aggie's hat and Milton and Delta following closely behind. What they found inside was relieving, cute, and a little heart-breaking. Buckaroo and Aggie couldn't help but chuckle as Aggie commented, "Well, at least we found out who was the eater of sweets culprit." Inside the cave was a young puffalo and Clampers, both with chocolate on their mouths and seemed to be writhing in pain. The puffalo painfully bleated as Clampers groaned in pain while holding her stomach. Delta couldn't believe what had happened as she said with a slight smile, "Well, at least ay can rest easy a-knowin' she isn't seriously hurt." Milton picked up the young puffalo while saying, "Well, I think you had enough sweets for today. Don't you agree," as the puffalo bleated, a small cry in agreement. Aggie picked up her adopted cousin as she says, "Aunt Delta, I'd recommend you and Clampers come back with us to Trollstopia so we can let everyone know what had happened."
After a long walk back to Trollstopia, Buckaroo and Aggie faced the crowd of trolls as Buckaroo stated, "Trolls, we were able ta faand out who it was that ate ever'one's treats last naheet. Our culprits, awful young Clampers ayn' ayy wild awful young puffalo." Clampers, in Delta's arms, whimpered in shame as she held her stomach in pain while the puffalo let out a deep bleat, which was meant to be a burp. Aggie then explained, "And we have found out what exactly happened last night that caused this to happen. When the puffalo escaped Lonesome Flats last night, Clampers chased it into the forest where it caught a whiff of everyone's treats. It led it into town, with Clampers following, and they came across the treasure trove of sugary sweets. The puffalo, as we believed, got into the churros first, and Clampers, curious, tried the sweets along with the puffalo. After trying at least three churros, the puffalo became energetic due to the sugar and rushed wild, eating the other sweets and destroying the booths in the process. Then, Clampers fell for the sugar rush as it and the puffalo ate eagerly. Then, they heard Tiny approaching, and Clampers made the puffalo hide behind a bush. Her tail was what tiny saw, and the thunderous footsteps of their escape were the footsteps he heard and tried to follow, but even he wasn't fast enough to keep up with a country troll kid and a baby puffalo on a sugar high. After a while, as we say, the sugar high came crashing down, and they both stumbled across a small cave to take refuge in before developing terrible stomachaches from eating all the treats."
Everyone seemed to understand as Delta spoke up, saying, "On behalf av my niece, ay wan-ta say ay'm truly sawry this here done happened. Ay'm sure she didn't mean faw it ta happen ta eithuurr. Raheet Clampers"? Clampers nodded in agreement as Milton added, "I would also like to apologize formally. I should've been more careful with how the puffalo would be locked up in its pen." The puffalo seemed to bleat an "I'm sorry," as Poppy came up to them, saying, "It's alright. We share some of the blame for not properly storing our treats. We should've been more cautious in case any creatures or trolls did end up stumbling towards the booths last night." Everyone nodded in agreement as Holly then asked, "Now, thay ...uhh only question done left is...what are we gunna do about international sweets day if we don't have any sweets ta share with one another"? Aggie then got a great idea as she said, "Wait! There's one treat we still have that we can share with everyone"! Aggie zipped to her house quickly and came back, bringing 56 boxes and placing them in front of the Poppy. She grabbed one box and opened it, revealing her cupcakes as she said excitedly, "My rainbow music cupcakes! There's enough for everyone"! Aggie distributed everyone a cupcake as everyone began to eat them, loving them right off the bat. Aggie gave a cupcake to Buckaroo as they both clinked them together as Buckaroo said, "Well, partner, another mystery solved. Well-done, Aggie. To solving another mystery and saving the day." Aggie and Buckaroo both took a bite as Aggie commented, "Nothing tastes sweeter than victory." Poppy commented, "These cupcakes are delicious, Aggie," as Holly added, "Hot dang! This has ta be the best cupcake a've ever had"!
Buckaroo gave Delta a cupcake as the sheriff happily responded, "Thanks, Buckaroo. And don't worry about poor Clampers. Ay think that nasty stomachache was punishment enough for her to learn her lesson. She'll think twice befawe doing something like that again." Buckaroo chuckled as she replied, "Naw worries, Delta. And hey, we've all been in her position befawe, so this is just one of them learning experiences she goes through as she grows up." Buckaroo offered Clampers a bit of her cupcake, but the sheriff's niece rapidly shook her head and groaned in pain as Delta commented, "Ay think Clampers has had enough sweets to last a while." Aggie then came up to Buckaroo, saying as she tipped her hat, "Well, do you think another mystery will arise soon"? Buckaroo chuckled as she answered, "Ay don't think so. but if one does arise, then we'll be there to solve it because we're the best detectives around." Aggie nodded as they both high-fived one another, then high-hoofed as they joined up with their friends and ate their cupcakes together. While International Sweets Day did not go as anyone planned it to, at least the most important aspect of it was still happening: friendship from different cultures coming together in harmony. And that's sweeter than any treat in the world.
