Anyway, go on.
Chapter Thirty
Hayato glanced at his Juudaime and smiled happily before continuing what he's doing. His fingers glided through the tiles, creating a beautiful melody dedicated to his boss.
Tsuna can't help the smile that was forming on his lips. He likes how Hayato plays the piano. So passionate, dedicated and beautiful. It makes him feel loved and at peace. So ironic for a person he deemed as a raging storm.
Tsuna was walking aimlessly in the corridor of the mansion. He's bored. He wants to do something but the plan won't be done not until his cloud and mists return with their reports. No. He isn't that suicidal to put the two in one team. He sent them to different places to gather informations.
No one can stop an aloof cloud.
No one can detect the mists infiltrating.
He sighed and opened a door to his left. He looked inside and spotted a grand piano. Tsuna blinked, stared and inspected the masterpiece.
It was painted black. Shining in the light with it's cover raised, letting the world see its beautiful parts. The keys are white and black, glistening as well. Tsuna sharpened his eyes further, and he concluded that it's untouched with the collected dust he can see on it.
He tutted in dismay. He doesn't know how to play. And he want to hear it cause he only seen and heard people play in the tv. If only he knew-
"Hayato!" Tsuna said out loud.
He closed the door and ran to find his storm guardian. He followed his intuition. He passed by Reborn who raised an eyebrow at him which he answered with a wave. He stopped running when he reached the garden. Panting, he looked around to search for his friend.
The guardians stopped moving with the Varia. They were having this kind of fight where Xanxus is against Hayato and Takeshi is keeping them apart while smiling at Squalo. Levi and Lambo are glaring at each other and Ryohei was talking to Lussuria and Belphegor. The first one to move was Takeshi.
"Tsuna! What's the hurry?" The happy lucky Rain asked.
"I want to talk to Hayato. Can I?" Tsuna responded.
"Yes Juudaime?" Hayato asked with a slight bow of his head.
"Hayato. No need to bow." Tsuna chided as he approached him. He put a hand on his friend's shoulder and started to whisper. "I want to ask you something."
"Yes?" The bomber asked.
"You play the piano, right?"
Hayato nodded and looked at him, puzzled. "Yes."
"Will it be okay if you play for me?" Tsuna felt the bomber stiffen. He immediately spoke. "It's okay to decline, Hayato. It's a selfish request. No need to respond to it."
Hayato shook his head. "No. It's okay Juudaime."
Tsuna's eyes brightened, lips twitching in their corners. "Really?"
Hayato nodded, feeling happy that his boss is excited. "Yes, Juudaime."
"Let's go!" Tsuna shouted as he tugged him. "I'm borrowing Hayato. Go have some fun!"
"Oi Tsunayoshi!" Xanxus called but the brunet just waved his hand.
Hayato followed Tsuna through the hallways until they stopped in front of a door. Tsuna glanced at him then to the door. Hayato almost smiled at the obvious hesitation.
This is his first time playing after years. He kept himself away from the instrument after his mother's death. He can't even look at it. It will only remind him of her death, and those times they spent together.
He somehow admire his Juudaime for being able to stay inside a house that is full of memories of his late parents. To look at every corner of their home, remembering those scenerios with them... It must be very painful.
So without any pause, he put his hand on the doorknob, twisted it and opened the door as he opened himself from the pain.
"Hayato-"
"It's okay, Juudaime. No need to worry." Hayato cut off.
Tsuna grasped his sleeve. "Hayato."
"Yes?"
"I'm here." Tsuna's eyes flashed orange for a sec as he stared at his eyes. "Okay?"
Hayato gave him his rare smile. "Hai."
Hayato went for the piano. He sat on the bench and Tsuna sat beside him. He opened the lead of the keyboard. He stared at the white and black keys. Slowly, he remembered those times he sat on the bench in front of the piano in his father's mansion, watching his mom play, and play with her.
Oh how he wants to go back and do it again with her.
"I wanted to always remember." He looked at Tsuna. The latter was tracing a key with his forefinger, a wistful look in his eyes as he followed his own movement. "It's the reason why I stayed in our home. Cause I don't want to forget those things that made us stronger as a family. Kaasan and tousan are always there alive or dead." Brown eyes met green ones. "It maybe painful but it's part of moving on. It's hard, but we must so we can take another step to the future. But that doesn't mean we need to forget. Just imagine this piano as a treasure of memories you shared with your mom. Remember those times you laughed, smiled and played with each other." Tsuna poked his cheek. "It will make you smile."
"Juudaime..."
"You can't play because you don't want to remember." Tsuna gave a small smile. "So I wont force. But," He gave a stern stare. "Don't shy away from it. If you have urges to play, play. Play for yourself, for your mom and for us, your family."
Hayato gawked at him. Tsuna just looked at the tile he's fingering then he pressed it. A sound resonated in the room. Then he pressed another key then another and another. Hayato looked at the piano as he listened to the sound vibrating in the air. He placed a hand hovering on the keys, fingers in place. Then he pressed down. Tsuna stopped playing with the keys and watched Hayato play. The bomber didn't disappoint him.
Hayato started to perform a simple song with a hand. Tsuna took his free hand and placed it on the keys lightly. The pianist followed the lead. He felt natural. Like he had been playing for years, not for the first time after some years.
The brunet closed his eyes as he let himself be carried in the tune. The song is slow, yet happy. As he let himself be submerged further, he slowly felt the raging feeling of being loved and protected from his guardian.
Tsuna opened his eyes, stood up and went behind Hayato's back. He sat in the opposite direction of the bomber, facing the door, and let himself rest on his friend's back. He closed his eyes and let a contented happy smile grace his lips.
Reborn stayed beside the ajar door, listening to the melody that is created by Hayato for his boss. He looked at Takeshi who had his eyes closed, a happy smile in his lips, just like Tsuna.
Indeed. Broken people heal each other.
Takeshi stopped swinging his sword when he heard a knock. The paper covered door of his dojo opened and a brunet came in. He immediately smiled as Tsuna gave him a small smile.
He can see improvements on his friend. His eyes are becoming bright from being dull. His expressions are slowly showing. And his smiles are slowly yet surely returning. He swears to God that he missed his best friend.
"Tuna-fishy!" Takeshi called, making Tsuna's lips twitch. "Cute cute tuna! What brought you here?"
"Let's play baseball." Tsuna said, eyes directly gazing at his.
"Now?" He asked. He saw the latter's eyes glanced at his sword.
"Yeah. Can't let my rain coped up in a room." Tsuna said as he turned around. "Don't want my rain's smile really disappear, do I?"
Takeshi stared at him. "What's wrong?"
The brunet faced him half way. "Your smile is empty. What's wrong, Takeshi?"
He shook his head. "No. No. Nothing. Really."
Tsuna stared at him. He slightly fidgeted under the fellow teen's gaze. It was so heart penetrating that it made him nervous. He feels like Tsuna can see past him.
'He always does.' His mind answered making him slightly smile.
Amidst all the people who he encountered, Tsuna is the only one who saw right through him and made a chain reaction with it. Hayato came next, Lambo, Reborn, Ryohei, Kyouya to Mukuro and Chrome. Whenever he's hiding something with a smile, they'll be there to ask if something is wrong. It was so heart warming that it scared him. He's scared that his mask fell apart.
But it didn't fall apart. It was removed.
Tsuna looked at his friend. He softly sighed before taking a step forward towards the baseball star and hugged him. He heard the sword dropped. After some seconds, Takeshi hugged him back tightly. Because he's short, he buried his face on the taller one's chest as he felt the part of his clothe on his shoulder started to get wet.
"I was so worried." Takeshi whispered. "I-I thought you were gone. That you won't come back to us anymore. I t-thought we'll never see you again. You're our sky, okay? Not just that, you're also our friend. You accept us just the way we are. And even though we always trouble you, you're still there. I tried my best to smile. But even the others can see something is off. I can't just stop worrying. And you're worth the worry, Tsuna."
"Takeshi." Tsuna called softly. "Can I sleep?"
Takeshi removed his head from the brunet's shoulder and laughed merrily. "You want to sleep?"
"I was worrying how to approach you." Tsuna said. "I couldn't sleep a wink. I wanted to play ball cause you've been neglecting the sport because of me. I told you, didn't I? Never give up your passion. And always remember that wherever I am, I'll always come back to be with you. All of you. So no need to feel worried nor alone. Be yourself, with or without me. And don't feel in debt to me. You saved me a million times. It's nothing compared to that one time I saved you."
Takeshi chuckled. "Ah... Tuna-fishy is so nice."
"Why do you keep on calling me that?"
"Because you like tuna sushi."
Takeshi smiled when he heard a chuckle from Tsuna. After that scene, both went to the backyard and played catch with a baseball and gloves while chatting away. Their fellow guardians were by the sidelines, watching as Yamamoto smiles with cheerfulness and Tsuna's eyes brightened in happiness.
"Onii-san?" Tsuna called, poking a finger on his sun guardian's shoulder. "Are you okay?"
"Hmm..." The boxers hummed.
Tsuna sighed before deciding to lay beside him. Ryohei was laying on the floor of the training room with his sports attire. He got worried when his guardian didn't move an inch after observing for minutes. So he entered to check. And now, he's laying beside him.
Tsuna looked at Ryohei and felt his stomach dropped. He feels guilty. Really really guilty.
Ryohei cracked an eye open and looked around. He's in the training room. He opened his other eye and stared at the far ceiling of the room. He gave a soft sigh. He misses his sister.
He left Kyoko in Japan when Reborn told him that they're going here in Italy to start searching for Tsuna. Worried sick of his little brother, he explained everything to his sister to make him understand. Kyoko, the sweet little flower she is, understood the situation and told him to find Tsuna no matter what. And knowing fully that his sister is Tsuna's classmate, he asked her why.
"Tsuna-kun suffered a lot." That was her only answer.
By now, he can deduce that Kyoko is sleeping with Hana in the latter's room. He called this morning just to check and it was late noon there at that time.
He was going to move and get up when he felt someone beside him. When he looked, it was Tsuna. The latter was sleeping, brows furrowed and lips in a tight line. He couldn't help smiling before he patted his brother's head. It made a magical effect. Tsuna relaxed as he slept away. Then he felt warmth slowly comfort him. He chuckled.
"You're such an extreme klutz, Sawada." Ryohei said as he stared at the boy. "You're giving me more extreme reasons to protect you for my sake, our friends' sake and my sister's sake. So smile to the extreme, will you?"
Tsuna did give a small smile.
Tsuna woke up startled. There was a body next to him. Small, nevertheless, a body. He turned around to see who it was. It was Lambo, sleeping and clutching his shirt.
Tsuna can't help the small smile that graced his lips. He missed the kid. Those times his little brother bugged him for hugs, to be with him and sleep beside him when nightmares hunt the child. And today was the first time Lambo sneaked inside his room. He was bunking with Ryohei after all.
Tsuna hugged the kid and kissed his forehead. He hummed a tune as he closed his eyes and slept the night away.
Tsuna looked left then right before going inside. He tiptoed and stood in front of Kyouya who was in a deep slumber. He tilted his head to the right as he stared at his friend.
Wait.
Are they even friends?
Tsuna puffed his right cheek and thought deeply about the topic. Maybe. Or not. He doesn't know if they're friends. Kyouya did help him in some situations. He becomes angry when things happen to him, and he comforts him in his own way. The brunet thought of Kyouya as his older brother, other than Ryohei and Mukuro. Though the mist is sometimes creepy, he's a good person and a very appealing one when making dark jokes.
Tsuna shrugged before rising the blanket on Kyouya's left. He was about to sit when the latter opened his eyes and looked at him. They stared at each other. Then the brunet just nodded before continuing on his task, while the ravenet blinked in surprise.
Tsuna settled himself comfortably on Kyouya's side, brought the end of the blanket up to his nape as he laid on his stomach. After closing his eyes, he was already asleep in just seconds.
Kyouya can't help the amusement he's feeling. To think that the omnivore paced to his room and went on to his futon without asking any permission. He even slept beside him like it was the most normal thing to do. He smirked as he closed his eyes to get a shut eye.
The omnivore is growing some fangs.
But he knows Tsuna isn't there to sleep with him. It was to give him comfort and keep him company. Of course, he knew. He had been noticing the sudden changes in his fellow guardians. The way they smile, laugh and hang out like a pack. They're flocking around the omnivore like those times.
So he avoided him.
He went everywhere, not near to the brunet. He doesn't need the pity for not being able to protect him. Yes. He is a cloud. And he failed miserable on his job. And the mere thought of failure makes him angry.
"Kyouya." He looked his bedmate at the moment. The said brunet had his eyes half lidded, orange eyes staring at him tiredly. "Kyouya..."
"What?" Kyouya asked as he questioned himself why his sky looked so tired.
Tsuna freed an arm and reached out. He gave Kyouya a pat in the head as he smiled fondly. "Don't let those demons get to you. You're more deserved than you think you are. And much more accomplished than anyone else."
"Tsunayoshi-"
"I know those demons, Kyouya Hibari." Tsuna cut in as he pointed a finger on the prefect's heart part. "We may not have the same wavelength, but I know what they are because they lived within me too. They may come at different times, but they say the same things. You're useless. You're not needed. You're a failure. You're stupid. You're weak. You deserve to die. And I want you to know that you're beside those things. You are one of my strongest guardians. Your presence is enough to kill all the worries I have. And you're a carnivore who bite defiant people to death. So cheer up. Even Hibird is worried of you."
Kyouya looked up to see the bird peering at him. "Hibari hibari. Ok! Ok!"
"See." Tsuna said.
Kyouya eyed him. A tick mark appeared on his temple as he stared at the brunet's smile. So he did the most thinkable. He pulled the cover until his kouhai's head before turning away from him. He felt warmth slowly descend on him like a floating blanket. He closed his eyes as his face redden up a little.
"Stupid omnivore."
Tsuna silently laughed at that.
Mukuro and Chrome sat up as Tsuna entered the living room. The two mists stared at him as he sat between them and leaned on the backrest. They looked at each other before looking at their sky again.
"Is there something wrong, Bossu?" Chrome asked.
"Is it about the reports we gave you, Tsunayoshi?" Mukuro questioned as well in an indifferent manner, but a ting of worry is heard.
Tsuna closed his eyes as he shook his head. "Just have this headache. Who knew planning things can be troublesome and tiring?"
The two mists looked at their sky with worry and guilt.
"We're sorry we can't be of any help, bossu."
Tsuna's eyes fluttered open and looked at him before shaking his head. "No no. Don't think like that. Just your presence here are soothing enough to comfort me."
"You're always saying that." Mukuro pointed out.
"Because it's the truth." Tsuna replied before leaning back again. "You two are more than enough. Add in the others, the comfort will be over flowing. And it feels good being this close to you two. It makes me think that I'm really out of my cell."
Chrome leaned towards Tsuna and laid her head on the brunet's shoulder. Tsuna instinctively pat Chrome's head as he leaned back to her. Mukuro smiled at the sight before laughing lightly.
Tsuna already said what they wanted to hear. So there's no need for them to be mellow.
Tsuna stared at the aftermath of his guardians rampage with a sprinkle of Reborn's destruction. To be honest, the moment they arrived, Tsuna didn't have to do anything. His guardians went on their own way, telling him to stay put. Reborn, especially, drilled him to his ground before the hitman went on his merry way. He only obeyed them for his intuition told him so. And he was so thankful Reborn had advised him to never ignore his intuition.
Because the building bursted into many colors after a minute of waiting. He didn't need to know who's who in every spot of the building. He could even hear Hayato's shout, Takeshi and Lambo's laugh, and Ryohei's shout of extreme. He didn't want Lambo and Chrome to participate, but the two were very persistent. Adding the other guardians promising him that the two will leave the place unscathed, he could only hang on those words.
And surely, they kept their promises. But the building though... It's in ruins and barely unrecognizable. They all saved the patients, and some doctors, guards to satisfy their revenge. He could only shake his head. He needs to lecture them about revenge and such before going to the next target.
If only he knows what will he do in the future.
