Later that day, Ironwood was meeting with Team RWBY in their dorm to discuss Yang's fate concerning the tournament.
"It looked like he attacked me first," Yang pleaded, "I swear!"
Ironwood remained calm, "I don't think you're lying; I've seen soldiers hallucinate from stress on the battlefield before. However, that does not change the fact that you assaulted a vulnerable Huntsman."
"What are you going to do?" Ruby asked, her voice thick with worry.
Ironwood sighed: "Unfortunately, it seems that…"
Suddenly, the General was cut off by a sharp knock at the door.
"General," came a voice from the other end, "We need to talk."
The girls' expressions lit up; it was Julius.
"It will have to be later," Ironwood responded, "I'm in the middle of something important right now."
"Yeah, well, this has to do with said important thing."
Curious, Ironwood opened the door, and Julius entered, followed by Hector and Coco.
"With all due respect, General," Julius began, "I think I found something to clear Yang's name."
"I'm listening." Ironwood replied. Julius pulled out his scroll and opened up the recording of Yang and Mercury's fight.
"You remember the app that can track aura and semblance use, right?" Julius asked.
"Of course. I was the one who authorized you to have it."
"Well, I was testing it out while recording the fight, and I found something very interesting when Yang supposedly attacked Mercury for no reason."
Here, Julius showed Ironwood the scroll's screen, showing the incident, as well as the different colored lights showing semblance use. One of these lights appeared as a ray of light coming from outside the arena and ending at Yang. Ironwood furrowed his eyebrows as he watched the light suddenly disappear as the Atlesian soldiers surrounded Yang and Emerald ran up to Mercury.
"This doesn't make sense," he said, "Did someone mind control her briefly?"
"Actually, I think someone put Yang under an illusion, making her see Mercury about to attack her," Julius explained, "What's even worse is that this has happened before in the tournament…and the same team was involved."
"When?" Ironwood asked.
"The doubles round. Tell him, Coco."
Coco stepped forward: "Me and Yatsuhashi went up against Mercury and his buddy Emerald in the doubles round. Near the end I saw Yatsuhasi walk up behind me in the woods, but a second later, he was apparently defeated."
"My guess," Julius finished, "Is that either Mercury or Emerald can create illusions on others, and used that power to sabotage the finals round. Yang was merely the victim."
Ironwood thought for a few moments, weighing the evidence in his head; similar instances happening with two different individuals during a fight against the same opposing team; definitely suspicious.
Ironwood turned back to the others: "The evidence is solid and it all certainly proves what you believe to be true."
Ruby lit up: "Does this mean…Yang's okay?"
Ironwood warmly smiled and nodded: "I will speak with Ozpin and the other authorities about this, but in my opinion, Ms. Xiao Long is innocent of any charges and this other team will be disqualified for cheating and framing a fellow Huntsman."
He then turned to Julius: "I admire your drive to protect others. You would be valuable in Atlas."
"I'll consider it." Julius replied.
Ironwood nodded: "Well, enjoy the rest of your evening everyone. I have some reports to make." Then, he walked out of the room. Once he did, Yang shot towards Julius and tackled him in a massive bear hug, tears in her eyes.
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" she shouted. Julius chuckled as he hugged her back: "It was nothing, really."
"Nothing really?" Weiss questioned, "You practically exposed a massive cheater and restored the honor of our team."
"That was very brave of you." Blake said, smiling at her boyfriend.
Ruby simply shouted: "You're AMAZING!" as she jumped up and down in excitement.
Yang pulled away and declared: "This calls for a little party down in the courtyard. Us, you, CFVY, and JNPR."
"That actually does sound like fun right now." Julius admitted.
"We have a few hours before the finals continue," Coco explained, "I think we'll have time."
"Let's do it!" Ruby shouted, pumping her fist in the air.
…
In Ozpin's tower, Ironwood showed the footage Julius had given him as Ozpin, Hayden, and Qrow watched.
"The evidence is solid enough," Hayden commented after Ironwood finished, "She should have her name cleared."
"For once, I agree," Qrow replied, "I've known Julius long enough to know that he doesn't lie about these kinds of things"
Ozpin nodded in understanding: "Very well, but why would they frame her like that?"
"I'm not entirely sure," Ironwood answered, "But they did it nonetheless and must be dealt with."
Qrow then narrowed his eyes as the footage, now paused, showed Emerald and Mercury.
"Wait a second…" he said. Then, widening his eyes, announced, "It's them. They're the infiltrators!"
"You're sure?" Hayden asked.
"I remember them when I rescued Autumn. Clear as day. It's them."
"Then we must deal with them now." Ironwood concluded, "I'll send Novus to get them."
"I never agreed with your harsh tactics," Ozpin observed, "But I will agree this one time. If these individuals are indeed Amber's assailants, then we are in no position to take any chances. Send him in."
…
A half hour later, the four teams met at a noodle house tent on the campus grounds, ready to have some fun. As they sat at the stools, Nora was the first one to speak.
"So, hang on, what exactly happened again?"
"Yang was framed for the attack when in reality, the other team cheated." Julius explained, rolling his eyes in annoyance, "I cleared her name with Ironwood just in time."
"That's so selfless of you," Pyrrha said, impressed.
Suddenly, the screen flickered to reveal Ironwood's face.
"Attention, citizens of Vale," he began, "I'm here to give you some interesting news concerning the incident with Yang Xiao Long int the finals round."
"That was fast," Julius marveled.
Ironwood continued: "While it may seem like she deliberately attacked another Huntsman, another group of Huntsmen have presented evidence that suggests otherwise. It wasn't deliberate, rather, Yang was under the influence of an illusion given by one of Mercury's teammates."
The four teams could hear others talking in hushed voices among each other.
"Since this has been proven to be true, it has come to the decision of me as well as Professor Ozpin to grant Yang Xiao Long amnesty for her actions and secure her place as the first victor in the finals."
Yang got a good pat on the back from Nora and Ruby.
"As for the opposing team; cheating in a manner as this will not be tolerated. I can assure you we will make sure justice is dealt out as necessary. Thank you for your time."
Once Ironwood finished, the screen went black as the four teams breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"Well, looks like you're officially off the hook, Yang." Slayer commented. Yang nodded, a massive smile on her face: "Well, I had a pretty good brother to back me up."
Julius winked back: "You're welcome, sis. So with that out of the way, what should we do before the next fight starts?"
Novus felt a vibration on his scroll and looked at it: "I can't. Ironwood's calling me in."
"Looks like we know who's dispensing the justice now." Coco said.
"Good luck," Penny said, hugging Novus before he walked away.
"I'll catch up with you guys later!" he shouted as he ran off. Then, the other teams resumed their little festivity before the next round.
…
On a medical ship, Cinder, Mercury, Emerald, and Neo all heard Ironwood's announcement as well, and were starting to get worried (except Neo, who was laughing inside).
"This isn't good," Emerald worried, "They're onto us now!"
"Relax," Cinder comforted, "I'm sure all they will do is disqualify us or something. It shouldn't be too bad."
"You sure about that?" Mercury asked, "When he talked about us getting justice, it sounded pretty serious."
"He won't be able to touch us," Cinder argued, "I managed to have another…ally of ours…make sure of that. Whatever comes our way, he can deal with it. As for us, we must proceed with the plan."
She them deviously smiled as her eyes glowed orange: "The fun part is about to begin."
