Chapter 14 - The Surprise - Part I
(2:35pm)
The two of them changed back into their regular clothes and bought the overalls on Kim and Monique's CB credit cards, plus Kim bought a pair of giant gold hoop earrings and a couple pairs of songs for the trip as well.
Ron was carrying all of their bags.
"So where...are we...going to next?" he asked, groaning with the weight of the bags on his shoulders.
"Swirlys for some ice cream!" Kim replied.
Rufus chittered, "Mmmm...cheese!"
Tara added, "I'm getting strawberry!"
"How much...further is...the car?" Ron moaned.
"Stop complaining, Ron. We're almost there!" Kim snarked.
The four teens finally managed to reach Monique's car. Monique unlocked the trunk of her car and helped put the clothes in. Then, they all got in. Monique and Tara sat in the front while Kim and Ron sat in the back.
"You two comfortable back there?" Monique asked as she put the keys in the ignition.
"We are!" Ron smiled, wrapping his arm around Kim's shoulders. "As long as we all do not get brain freeze, of course!"

(10 minutes later)
The car managed to reach Swirley's.
Monique parked the car in the lot and all four teens got out.
"We all got down pat on what ice cream flavors we want?" she asked to Tara, Kim, Ron and Rufus.
They all nodded their heads.
Monique led the way and opened the door.
One of the male employees came out and said, "Welcome to Swirly's, home of the famous Swirly Vanilla Ice Cream. May I take your order?"
Monique replied, "I'm gonna take mint chocolate chip and Tara here will get strawberry!"
The Swirly employee then eyed Rufus.
"And what will the..."
"...naked mole rat, my good man!" Ron replied.
Rufus squeaked "Cheese!"
"Cheesecake ice cream for Rufus it is!" Ron said, conveying Rufus' order to the employee, "And me and KP will have a banana split sundae for two!"
"Go extra on the hot fudge, please!" Kim grinned. "It matches my BF's eyes!"
"That'll be $10.19, please!" the employee said after ringing up the food, plus tax. Monique gave him both a Hamilton and a Lincoln and the employee gave her the change.
The teens then selected a booth right next to the window.
"What convinced you to buy the CB guys overalls for the trip, Ron?" Kim asked her BF about his recent purchase.
"To tell you the truth, KP, it's to prevent any lost pant incidents on the Utah trip." Ron replied. "Or on the way there."
"You do have a point there." Kim replied, sensing her boyfriend's strategy.
"Kinda reminded me of our first 'for real' date together!" Ron giggled.
"Wasn't that the date with the steakhouse?" Monique asked.
"Oh yes." Kim recalled, "I was attempting to expand Ron's food palate outside of Bueno Nacho."
"It did succeed, but..." he muttered.
"The pants he wore were a bit too small for him...it ripped from behind..." Kim explained.
"Note to self...never wear tighty-whities with your name on them." Ron groaned. "Stupid cheap Smarty-Mart brand suits."
"Ah...here's our ice cream right now!" Tara exclaimed as she got the strawberry, Monique the mint chocolate, Rufus the cheesecake and the banana split with extra hot fudge for Kim and Ron from the Swirlys employer.
While Monique, Tara, and Rufus were enjoying their ice cream. Kim and Ron stared lovingly into each other's eyes. Both she and Ron grabbed the two spoons and began eating the banana split sundae._
(15 minutes later)
"Oh man...that sundae was sooooo good!" Kim groaned with delight, her mouth filled with ice cream.
"With the cherry on top, KP!" Ron sighed smiling, putting his spoon into the empty bowl.
"I think you got a little bit of hot fudge and ice cream on the side of your mouth over there." Monique said, pointing to the corner of Kim's mouth.
"Ah, thanks!" Kim complimented. She grabbed a napkin to wipe off the side of her mouth.
"So what the next order of business?" Ron asked.
"What Monique and Tara are going to do while you, I, and the rest of the Possible fam are at Utah for the next 14 days." Kim answered.
The redhead then continued, "Monique here has elected to take care of all incoming mail while Tara will have a couple of her older college-age cousins to look after the house."
"How could Monique get the mail if you live four blocks away from each other?" Tara asked.
"Let's just say Wade took care of that!" Kim giggled.
She then felt a buzz on her cell phone.
"Hmm...must be a message!" Ron said.
"It's gotta be. But who is it from?" Kim wondered as she dug through her puple handbag, getting her cell phone.
Kim read on who the unread message is from.
"Dad?! But why would he send me a text?"
She then pressed read on the phone.
It said the following:
Major surprise in Utah trip, Kimmie-cub. Please come home with Ronald.
"Ron, I think we should check back on the Possible house!" Kim insisted.
"How come, KP?" Ron asked.
Kim said with urgency, "If it's from Dad, something of a major sitch must have come up on the trip!"
