Chapter thirteen:

"Okay. So what we know is that there is a chance that if we summon this being. However this being does deals and it could end up with asking for us to exchange someone's life in order for the being to help us." Jay mentions not even glancing around as he knows that he doesn't need to pretend to be able to see. "So we must make sure that we are prepared with our limits and what we are willing to give up. There is a chance that we may have to negotiate against the being."

"I will do whatever it takes to have Kaoru back." Hikaru chimes in and Jay turns in his direction with a slightly unimpressed look.

"You must be careful what you say when the being is summoned. The being could take your soul and kill you if you're not careful."

"Then even if we manage to save Kaoru he might think that it wasn't worth it because he lost you." Haruhi adds in a way to point it out to Hikaru who sighs heavily closing his eyes.

"Okay." Hikaru agrees then opens his eyes. "Then when we summon this thing I will be careful about my words when we summon this thing." He looks around at his friends. "So, what would be our limit then? I guess we may as well set one to ensure we know what were doing when we contact the being that could help us."

"Well since we aren't going to give that thing a soul in exchange for the help maybe by offering a precious thing?" Briar suggests in which the others turn to look to her. She has a serious look on her face. "Something precious would be valuable in a deal to a being." She points out and shifts a little where she is sitting. "I think that we should use it as a limit. It should be close enough to sacrificing a life for it."

Hikaru turns away thoughtfully then turns back to Briar with a serious look on his face. "I agree." He tells her verbally and meets her eyes. "If we really need to give something high priced in the deal, then the sacrifice of something precious is much better than sacrificing one of our lives to make the deal happen." He then turns to glance to the others. "If it comes down to it I can give up something precious of mine. It is my brother after all. I feel that I need to take on this responsibility." He closes his eyes once more before opening them after a few moments. "I think that with that we are ready to do this." He turns to look to Jay meeting the others blind eyes. "Lets get to summoning this thing."

"And if this being isn't actually able to help us?" Jay questions raising an eyebrow at this in which Hikaru takes a deep breath.

"Then we'll find some other way." Hikaru informs the other man. He tries to keep his head high with confidence. "I don't care how long it'd take me. I'll find a way to save my brother. Even if I am an old man when I can do so."

"Alright." Jay slightly shrugs it off and slightly turns away where he remembers Briar being in the direction of. "Then we shall get started with summoning this being. And we shall continue on from there."

Hikaru nods softly followed by everyone else.

….

"Alright." The king looks up at "Kaoru" letting their eyes meet each others. "You can have the kingdom. Just don't hurt my family. And please be a good ruler. That is all I ask of you." He glances away almost as if trying to look behind himself. "I don't care what you do to me as long as those terms are met."

"Kaoru" leans down closer to the king who turns back to him. He has a wide smile on his face. "Oh you have no reason to worry. Your family will be with you. You won't have to see them be hurt. We will lead this kingdom the way that we believe is right." He moves away from the now former king who is then picked up by the three who are holding his arms and neck. He takes the kings crown right off of his head.

The kings crown is made of gold, round with spikes that end with all different round gems. It is shiny and well taken care of.

"Kaoru" heads over to the throne, the other specters moving the king in the air to watch "Kaoru" who sits down on the throne only to put the crown upon his head. He looks to the former king who glances down.

The former king just looks fancy in his royal clothes without the crown. He has a red long sleeved shirt with gold shoulder pads, medals on his right chest area, a gold chain going from his left shoulder pad to one of the black buttons on his shirt, black pants, with black fancy types of shoes. His greying black hair falls around his face a little as his brown eyes stare down at the ground.

"Set him down." "Kaoru" informs the others who just let him go causing him to land heavily on the ground.

Luckily the former King has managed to brace himself with his hands to not fall on his face. He looks up to "Kaoru" only to get to his feet.

"Kaoru" smirks widely at the former king. "Bow before me." He commands sitting tall with confidence in the seat of the throne of the king. "Like the peasant you are now."

The former King glares at "Kaoru" for a few moments before remembering the 'deal' he had made so he lowers himself to sit on his knees. He bows his head placing his hands on the floor. He closes his eyes trying to escape from the reality of what is happening. He instead tries to think of what kind of life he might be able to have with his family now that he was forced to give up the throne.

"Kaoru" breaks out into laughter tilting his head back at this before lowering his head smirking widely once more. "You mean nothing to this kingdom now." He looks to Night. "Night. Be a buddy and fetch us someone to take this man and his family to the dungeon."

The former king quickly rises to be sitting up as his eyes widen at hearing this. "No! You can't do that!" He tries to plead with the other who loses his smirk. "We'll leave and live like the groveling peasants we now are." He tries to talk in a way that the other might like in order to try to save his family. "We won't rise up against you. We'll do whatever you tell us. Just let us go and be poor people."

"You really think that I am going to take that chance?" "Kaoru" questions the other as they stare at each other. "As long as the others of the kingdom know that you are out there they'll hold onto hope if they decide to revolt against me. I cannot take the chance that one day there might be a revolution. Not after I have waited so long to take my rightful place as leader. You have no idea how long we have been waiting and longing for this moment you stupid human!" He doesn't get up though he almost does out of anger at the idea of allowing a possibility for a revolution. "The only place that is perfect to hold you and your family in to ensure for my reign to not go uninterrupted is the dungeon." He turns as does the King when two guards come in only to stare in surprise at what they see.

"So it is true." One of them swallows a bit harshly. "We heard from a strange voice that the throne was handed away."

The former king turns away. "I am sorry." He apologizes to the guards. "He is your king now." He points to "Kaoru".

"Kaoru" nods then raises a hand pointing at the former king. "Take him and his family to the dungeon." He commands and lowers his hand once done. He doesn't miss that for a moment the two guard glance to each other hesitantly.

"Do as he says." The former king sighs somberly still not looking at the guards that had arrived. "You have to now."

"That is right." "Kaoru" has his smirk return a little at hearing the former king say those words. "And I will not tolerate anyone who tries anything funny or refuses to listen to what I say. Am I understood?"

"Yes your majesty." The two guards say mostly in unison as they slightly bow. They then move forward and help the former king to his feet then they lead him out of the throne room to take him to the dungeon.

"Kaoru" looks to the three specters that are now left in the throne room with him. "Now it is time that we can look into getting you three your own hosts."

"Finally!" Twilight snorts at this.
