Chapter 31 Party Shopping
Jake's POV
As Izzy and I were still continuing planning Cubby's surprise birthday party, we were thinking about going shopping after the dance studio. So I started to make the shopping list.
"Decorations, paper, sticky tape, string disposable glasses, plates, cutlery, straws, table covers, food and drinks, Birthday cake, bin bags, and washing up liquid. After I made the list, Cubby came from downstairs." I said after writing the shopping list.
"Oh, Cubby, what are you doing here?" I asked him while pretending to be curious.
" Did you forget that I live here? Or you just staring at Izzy for some reason?" Cubby asked me.
"Oh uh, cubby how about you go get the kids ready." Izzy suggested to him.
"Oh yeah, go get the kids ready!" I said to him.
"Okay." Cubby said to me as he left.
As Cubby was getting the kids ready, I took the shopping list out.
"Phew, that close, Izzy." I said to her.
"Yeah, that was too close." Izzy said to me.
"Sure was." I said to her.
"Anyway, ready to go?" I asked her.
"Well, should we have breakfast first Jake?" Izzy asked me as Cubby came downstairs with the kids.
"Oh we don't have no time, let's go!" I said to her.
"Jake why are you so in a rush?" Cubby asked me as I froze.
"Oh because Izzy and I are going to the bank, to buy some lobsters for Thanksgiving." I said to him.
" But Jake, Thanksgiving isn't until November." Cubby said to me.
" That is also true, so we're going to the grocery store to buy bread . Yeah that's it we're going to buy bread after we're done at the dance studio. And no you can't come." I said to him.
"You two are hiding something. Is there a rat inside The Hideout I should know about?" Cubby asked us.
" Oh yeah there's a big rats around here yeah, I'll call the exterminator tomorrow." I said to him.
" Jake I know you and Izzy are hiding something." Cubby said to me.
" Yay party!" Princess said to us as Izzy covered her mouth.
"Dead Princess just say party?" Cubby asked us.
"No no she didn't say party, she said potty. Yeah she said yay potty it sounds just my party but you got it wrong Cubby. She said party like baby Jay has to use the potty." I said to him.
" Jake Baby Jay's not even one years old yet to use the toilet." Cubby said to me.
" Good point, because we're going to potty train him when he's one years old." I said to him.
" whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, I'm not signing up to potty train my nephew." Cubby said to me as we entered Studio A.
" Yes you are, you're joining." I said to him.
"No I'm not. I rather be fingerprinting with my niece, then potty training my nephew." Cubby said to me.
"would you rather potty train Izzy?" I asked him.
"Wait what? Jake I'm already potty trained." Izzy said to me.
"Oh come on, it was just a joke." I said to her.
"Cubby doesn't need to repotty train me." Izzy said to me.
" Oh lighten up Izzy, it was only a joke." I said to her.
"Oh good Izzy you're here! Listen I want to work with you today with your female song over dance." Peter said to her.
"Okay!" Izzy said to him.
" I guess Cubby and I can should leave the room, with the kids." I said to her as I gave Izzy a kiss on the cheek and left the studio with Cubby and the kids.
Izzy's POV
As I started to dance for the female soloist, Peter was watching me.
Cubby's POV
As Jake and I went into the cafeteria, w continued our conversation.
"Jake, do you really think I want to spend my days next year teaching a 1-year-old to potty train?" I asked him.
" Hey don't forget Peter Pan taught us how to potty train. And I think we can do the same thing for a baby Jay. We already did it with Princess." Jake said to me.
" Yeah but what if baby Jay doesn't wants to potty train?" I asked him.
" Then we'll just keep pushing him, until he learns." Jake said to me.
"Everybody learned to potty train. Even Jenny." Jake said to me.
" What does Jenmy have to do with this conversation we're having?" I asked him.
" I don't know, I just brought her up." Jake said to me.
"okay jacobito's what are you hiding?" I asked him.
"Okay cubby, did you just call me Jacobito?" I asked him.
"Yes! But anyway, what are you hiding?" I asked him.
"Oh you know, just bills, and paychecks." Jake said to me.
"Jake I don't think it's just bills and paychecks." I said to him.
" Okay then, what do you think I'm hiding from you?" Jake asked me.
" I'm not going to answer that. I just want you to tell me." I said to him.
" Not going to happen Robert." Jake said to me.
"Oh come, on you know I hate it when you call me by my first name." I said to him.
"Haha!" Jake said while laughing at me.
"Oh stop it." I said to him.
"Sorry, but it's hilarious ha." Jake said to me.
As the four of us saw Izzy come into the cafeteria, she was happy.
"What's with the happy face Iz?" Jake asked her.
"Peter, loves my dancing!" Izzy said to him.
"Oh that is wonderful!" Jake said to her as he picked her up and spun her around.
"Okay okay Jake, put me down." Izzy said to him as Jake placed her back on the ground.
"Okay so I thought about ideas for my birthday, how about we play pin the tail on the donkey." I suggested to them.
" Uh uh." Jake and Izzy said to me.
" Well?" I asked them.
" Be like your idea cubby but we already thought of our grocery list, and the party is for the grocery store." Jake said to me.
" So what is it the grocery store's birthday?" I asked him.
" Yes it is! And the store is turning 99 today." Izzy said to me.
"okay you two spell it. What are Jake and Izzy planning?" I asked them while baby Jay just hit me with his Daffy duck toy.
"I'm not in this don't look at me Uncle Cubby." Princess said to me.
"They have to be hiding something. But what?" I asked myself.
Izzy's POV
While Jake and I were shopping for Cubby's 10th birthday surprise party, I had to ask him a question about what was Cubby doing.
"Jake was Cubby asking you questions on what we were doing again?" I asked him.
" Yes, and he wouldn't shut up. You kept asking me stupid questions about what we were doing and I keep telling him that we were doing things like bills bills bills bills and more bills." Jake said to me.
"At least that gives us more time to get ready for his surprise birthday party." I said to him.
"Yeah, I agree with you." Jake said to me as we were holding hands while Jake was losing the cart.
Once Jake placed his credit card inside the slot, the monitor read $75.45.
after we bought all the stuff, we immediately went back to The Hideout and hid everything. Except, the cake was going to be harder to hide.
"Jake where should we hide the cake?" I asked him.
"Maybe we can write a note that says that your diet plan. That way, Cubby won't know the difference." Jake suggested to me.
"Jake that's the dumbest idea ever. Even Cubby won't ever fall for that." I said to him.
" Yeah he will rage the fridge anyway, if he's really hungry. Okay this is really hard. Where are we supposed to hide the cake in the freezer?" Jake asked me as I gave him a grin while we hid the cake in the freezer.
"Okay note to self, I had the stupid ass idea ever." Jake said to himself.
" At least the Cubby's going to go in the fridge, or not in the freezer." I said to him.
"Yeah I highly doubt he's going to go in the freezer. And if he does, we're busted." Jake said to me.
"Oh what could Cubby possibly do to us Jake?" I asked him.
"I don't know, he might probably make us clean his coconut collection." Jake said to me.
" Cubby still collects coconuts?" I asked him.
" YES!" Jake said to me.
" Okay, don't need to get all grumpy mister." I said to him.
" I'm sorry, I just want his party to go perfect." Jake said to me.
"I know baby." I said to him while giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Cubby's POV
As I came home, I went into the living room to watch TV with my niece and nephew.
"What do you guys want to watch?" I asked them.
"Blue's Clues for my baby brother!" Princess suggested.
" Wow so you want your baby brother to watch Blue's Clues?" I asked her as she nodded her little head.
"Okay, then!" I said to her as Blue's Clues was on nick Jr while baby Jay clapped his little hands.
As my niece and nephew were watching the show, I went into the kitchen to see that Jake and Izzy were standing there.
"What are you guys doing?" I asked them as Jake immediately closed the freezer.
"Nothing. What are you doing back home so soon?" Jake asked me.
" I decided to come home with the kids. Oh and by the way, their in the living room watching Blue's Clues." I said to him.
" You left them alone?" Izzy asked me.
"No, Princess is babysitting her little brother." I said to her.
" Cubby I can see by your sweat that you left them alone." Jake said to me.
"They're fine Jake. Why are you so overprotected of the kids?" I asked him.
"Because they're mind and Izzy's kids duh." Jake said to me.
"I'm going to check up on the kids." Izzy said to us as she went into the living room while we followed.
"You see they're just watching Blue's Clues, nothing to worry about." I said to her.
"Actually, this show is educational for children." Izzy said to us as she sat down.
"Izzy, what are you doing?" Jake asked her.
"I'm watching the show Jake." Izzy said to him.
"Did you forget that we have bills to do?" Jake asked her.
" Oh fine, I hate doing bills though." Izzy said to him.
" So do I, but we need to get them done." Jake sakd to her as he dragged her out of the living room.
"baby Jay princess please please I'm begging you what are Jake and Izzy planning?" I asked them.
" Okay, if I tell you, would you shut up?" Princess asked me as I nodded my head.
"Okay, Mommy and Daddy are planning... A surprise birthday party for Peter Pan." Princess said to me.
"Jake Izzy get over here." I said to them as they came into the living room.
"Are you guys literally planning a birthday party for someone?" I asked them as Izzy hit Jake in the arm.
" Ouch what did I do?" Jake asked her.
"I told you we've should've hide the cake somewhere else." Izzy said to him.
"Wait what? Wasn't it my idea to hide the cake in the freezer in the first place Iz?" Jake asked her.
"Yes!" Izzy said to him.
"So you guys are planning a birthday party for Peter pan, and you didn't include me?" I asked them.
" Look, cubby we tried we really tried but but no matter how hard it was we couldn't stop hiding your party from oops." Jake said to me.
" Nice Jake, real nice." Izzy said to him as she slapped her forehead.
"what are you talking about Jake?" Cubby asked him.
"Nothing." Jake said to me.
"Jake he already knows, we might as well come clean." Izzy said to him.
" Okay fine, we were trying to hide your birthday party surprise from you. That's why we kept saying the word bills so you don't find out. You're probably disappointed at us." Jake said to me as they had their heads down.
" Guys I'm not disappointed, I mean you didn't have to do all of that. I mean so what if I'm turning 10 big deal. It's not like I'm turning 18." I said to them.
" So you're not mad at us?" Izzy asked me.
"Of course not. Guys, you're my family. And that's the best early birthday gift I could ever have." I said to them.
"Anyway, did you guys get the decorations and everything else for my party?" I asked them.
"Wait you still want to do your party?" Jake asked me.
" Of course it's my birthday party." I said to them.
" Okay." Both Jake and Izzy said to me.
"So where is my party being held?" I asked them.
"The dance studio in studio A." Izzy said to me.
"Cool!" I said to her.
"and we can have a lot of stuff there. We're going to have games, food, presents." Jake said to me.
" Well I already got my present, the best family I could ever ask for." I said to them.
"Aww, Cubby you just melted our hearts." Izzy said to me.
"We love you Uncle cubby!" Princess said to me as I picked her up and kissed her all over as she giggled.
" And I love you too princess!" I said to her
"Cubby." Baby Jay said to me.
"Did baby Jay just say your name?" Jake asked me.
"Yeah I guess he did. You are becoming a smart boy." I said to him as I picked him up and tickled his tummy as he giggled.
"I can't wait until he turns 1 years old." Jake said to himself.
" We can't wait either Jake." Both Izzy and I said to him as the five of us hugged each other.
Jake's POV
As I went into the kitchen to make lunch, Princess followed me.
"Daddy may I have some juice please?" Princess asked me.
"Sure sweetie!" I said to her as I poured a cup of juice for her and have it to her.
"Here you go pumpkin." I said to her.
"Thank you Daddy!" Princess said to me as she started to run.
"Princess no running in the Hideout." I said to her.
"Sorry Daddy I forgot." Princess said to me.
" That's okay, just be careful." I said to her as I wet back to making lunch.
As I was still making lunch, Izzy walked in and sat down on the chair as she was watching me.
"Iz, it feels like you want something from me. What do you want?" I asked her.
" Nothing Jakey, I just want to watch you make lunch." Izzy said to me.
"Okay then." I said to her.
"Jake how do you think Jenny's doing at the hospital?" Izzy asked me.
"I'm sure she's doing fine, besides Laquan's there." I said to her.
" Yeah, but I'm worried about Jenny." Izzy said to me.
"I'm sure, she's doing okay there's nothing to worry about. She's in good hands." I said to her.
" You know how worried I get with people." Izzy said to me.
"Yes I understand, but like I said Jenny's in good hands Izzy." I said to her.
"Jake I'm going to go take a nap, can you put my food in the microwave please?" Izzy asked me.
"Will do. Have a good nap Izzy." I said to her as I kissed her forehead.
As I was continuing making lunch, Cubby came in.
"Jake can I have the cake now?" Cubby asked me.
"No, you may not." I said to him.
