The next chapter is up! Enjoy :)
In the following weeks, Frieza and Rain slowly became more tolerant of each other. As long as they respected each others boundaries, then there were no issues. Rain was still enjoying her Winter Break from her courses. Though it was a bit challenging trying to make Christmas and New Years arrangements with her parents. She wouldn't have minded going home to Cape Cod for the Holidays, and her Birthday. Rain is a New Year's Baby, born on January 1st. That's what she was initially going to do. Before Frieza came to earth that is. All her plans had to change when that happened.
She sure as hell didn't want to leave him at her place alone while she was away. And Rain couldn't ask her parents to come to her place. Mainly because they would freak upon seeing her extraterrestrial roommate. Sadly, in the end. She ended up having to cancel with her parents because she couldn't find another solution. Well, there was one. But Rain didn't feel right putting Frieza back in his cell for the duration of the holidays just so her parents could come and visit her. She kept telling herself that she would make it up to her parents.
It hurt to see the look of disappointment and sadness on their faces when she skyped with them and told them she couldn't see them for the holidays. When they asked her why. Rain lied and said she needed some more time to herself. That she still didn't get over the initial trauma of being abducted and taken into space. Of course they proclaimed it was all the more reason to spend time with her. They believed a huge part of the healing process involved spending time with your family. But she was adamant that she needed more time to herself and left it at that.
Rain mailed her parents gifts out to them, along with her Uncle's. After she got off the skype call with them, Rain let a few tears fall. This would've been the first Christmas and New Year's/Birthday she could've spent with her family since she was discharged. And Rain sadly had to miss it. Because she opened her mouth and assured Goku, Bulma, and Vegeta that she would play Babysitter/Warden to the petite Galactic Emperor taking up residence in her home.
So instead, she didn't really celebrate this time around. It was not that much different from when she was still serving. During the holidays they maybe passed around some pastries to the troops on base. Sadly, they couldn't afford to break out any booze. That would've been trouble waiting to happen. Seeing as each soldier had to be stone cold sober in case enemies attempted to attack the base. So pastries and a few Christmas Song Dance Offs was all they could really do, while on base.
Bulma tried inviting the lonely young woman over to her place for the holidays. But Rain declined, again because she didn't trust Frieza being left to his own devices in her place. Even when the blue haired scientist encouraged her to bring the tyrant along Rain still declined the invite. That would've been a disaster and a half. Seeing as he would've most likely started something with Vegeta or Goku.
So she stayed in and watched Netflix, bound up in a flannel blanket cocoon with some hot chocolate. And with the fireplace lit. When Frieza asked Rain what was up with all the bright lights on the houses outside. She had to go through a brief history lesson with him about Christmas and later New Years. It wasn't until Bulma and later her parents skyped her to say Happy Birthday that he learned of that.
Of course Frieza teased her and asked her how old she was now. Then proceeded to push her further by stating he saw some gray hairs and wrinkles around her eyes. This was only about twenty minutes ago. Now they were currently down in the workout room getting ready to spar.
"I bet you this 'old lady' can wipe the floor with your glossy white ass. I'm willing to prove it to you by taking you downstairs to the workout room to spar." She told him.
He agreed, only because he was bored as hell these last several weeks. After all, it wasn't like he could really go anywhere. He was also a bit limited on what he could find to do in her home. He waited a couple minutes in the living room, as Rain left to change into workout clothes. Frieza did a slight double take when she came out decked in a black sports bra and midi black leggings that ended around her knees. He found it funny that she detested the clothes he provided for her on the ship. Yet, here she was decked out in an outfit that clung to every curve on her body and exposed her flat, toned stomach to him.
She just finished up wrapping her hands in black hand wraps when she told him, 'let's go.' So he followed her out and down the steps to the workout area. They didn't go right into the sparring.
"I'm going to stretch first. You probably should too. Unless you want to pull something." She said, while looking over at him.
He crossed his arms. "I don't need to, I'll be fine."
Rain shrugs. "Suit yourself."
She bent down and started stretching her legs. Her flexibility made it easy for her to get a good long stretch in. Unaware that Frieza was getting a nice view of her ass as the young woman bent forward. He didn't try to hide the fact that he was looking either. If anything he was getting enjoyment out of it. Enough that he decided not to rush her on her stretches. If anything, he'd rather she take her time. Rain then bent backwards into a bridge and held it. Another nice little pose Frieza came to admire. Because now he had a nice view of her cleavage peaking out the top of the black sports bra.
Rain gracefully kicked over when she was finished. Then swung her arms about and crossed them one at a time over her chest and shoulders. It didn't end there. She started practicing a couple moves to quickly warm herself up. At least he knew at this point she'd provide him with somewhat of a challenge. Because he still feels overly confident he could still take her in a fight, powers or no powers.
After a couple more minutes she looked over at Frieza.
"Are you ready, Casper?" She asked.
He snorts at the abhorrent nickname. He found it even more despicable when Rain had him sit down and watch Casper the movie on Christmas Eve. Afterwards, Frieza looked at her with a frown decorating his face.
"Did you really refer to me as some pitiful and childish spirit?" He asked in annoyance.
Rain just gave him a toothy grin, before shoving some more cheese flavored popcorn in her mouth.
Now he stood here and front of her, thinking of all the ways he was going to get back at her during this little sparring session. He crouched down into his signature fighting stance with a smirk on his face.
"Whenever you are, old woman." He taunted.
Rain let out an unladylike snort and dropped down into her own fighting stance. They moved around a little at first. Neither one throwing a hit for the next few seconds. She was the first to execute a move. Rain lunged forward and threw a right hook at his face. Frieza quickly ducked and tried sweeping her legs out from under her.
But Rain cartwheeled out of the way. Kicking him across the face as she went over. It hurt him a little more than it should for some reason. Probably because his skin was a little more sensitive now and a bit softer. Almost like human skin, he thought in annoyance. He recovered pretty quickly though and executed a back spin kick at the young woman. Her eyes widened briefly and she ducked the incoming kick as fast as she could. He barely missed her as she felt the bottom of his outstretched leg just skim the top of her head, lightly brushing against her hair.
From her bent position, she leaned back on her hands and kicked a leg straight out, aiming for his inner thigh. To her shock, Frieza caught her around her ankle and lower calf. From there, he jerked Rain to the right, making her lose her balance and hit the floor on her side. He let go and she got up. Only to barely miss an oncoming left jab to the torso. They parried and danced around each other for the next few minutes. All the moving about had them all over the workout room.
'At least she's keeping up well enough, for now.' He thought. But she seemed to forget, he had another advantage. Frieza has yet to use his tail on her. So far, she has been able to successfully block or deflect most of his punches, kicks, elbows, and knees. He wanted to see how well she will do when he throws his tail into the combo.
Frieza threw a right hook at her face. When she put up an arm to block it. He swung his tail around to her now exposed and open side. Her eyes widened in surprise. It came at her so fast, she had no time to move out of the way. So Rain took a hit to her side. She let out a hiss of pain from the impact. It also sent her tumbling to the floor. Rain glared up at him. But Frieza just looked down at her with a smug and amused look.
"Such a cheater you are. Arms and legs only." She snapped.
He chuckled. "I'm not cheating. Just took advantage of your exposed side as effectively and efficiently as I could."
Rain jumped back up. "No more tail moves. Or this little sparring match is over. How can you consider a match fair? When your opponent lacks that extra appendage that is a tail."
Frieza sighs in defeat. "Fine, I'll persist from using my tail in the future." He pauses for a moment and smirks. "Wouldn't want you throwing a slight tantrum like a sore loser if you lose to such a move.
Instead of being annoyed at his remark, she just grins. The action confuses him long enough for her to be able to effectively execute her next move. She quickly looks behind him to see if he's lined up just right. Then with a quick jerk of her hips. Rain thrust her right leg forward into his midsection. The hit connects and knocks him roughly back into the punching bag. The force of his back hitting the back makes it swing backwards. This threw him off balance a bit.
Frieza tries to compose himself as quickly as possible. But before he could crouch down into a stance again. The bag swung back into him. The weight of the bag flung him forward. Rain's plan was to side step out of the way, so he'd fall flat on his face. But the plan quickly backfired in her face. As she lost her footing while trying to move. Not only did this throw her off balance. It sent Frieza crashing into her.
They both fell to the ground, in a rather compromising position. He landed on top of her and they both let out an audible 'Oomph' when it happened. Both their faces were now only centimeters away from one another. Rain had a look of total surprise on her face. While Frieza had more of a look of embarrassment written in his features.
They both laid there, completely frozen in place. Rain licked her dry lips. The movement made Frieza shift his crimson gaze from her eyes to her lips. At the same time, Rain slowly moved her gaze down to his dark violet/black ones. She doesn't know which one of them started leaning in first. But both their mouths were now a hair's breath away from touching. Neither of them were looking away as they nearly closed the gap.
Her iphone on a chair about fifteen feet away, started ringing. The loud sound snapped them out of it and he quickly got off Rain. Then he did something that surprised her. Frieza offered Rain his hand. She took it with a 'Thanks' as he helped her up. Though by now she was no longer looking at him. Rain just jogged over to grab her phone. When she picked it up. The Caller I.D. said it was Bulma.
"Hey Bulma, what's up" Asked a slightly out of breath Rain.
"Rain? You ok? Why you all out of breath?" Bulma asked over the speaker.
She gave Frieza a sideways glance before walking to the other side of the room.
"I'm downstairs, working out." She said to the older woman.
"Oh, ok. I just called to tell you I dug a little more into the compounds I've been using to make the ki suppressants. I know your biggest concern is how long they will last, before you got to give Frieza another dose. I just want to tell you that you don't have to worry so much about him getting his powers back before you can give him another suppressant round. I've tested the compounds the last several times in hope of finding a more accurate expiration date and how often it should be reapplied.
The results were pretty eye opening. And looks like it may last longer than we initially thought. You may or may not have noticed, that Frieza has yet to show any signs that his powers are slowly returning to him. Yeah, it's because I recently found that it will take anywhere from three to four months before it starts to wear off.
So If you have to, just find a way to give him another dose by that time. At the first sight of his body shaking, give him the suppressant. Or if you feel like it may be too hard for you to do. Then bring him here and perhaps we can have Goku or Vegeta restrain him while one of us administer it to him." Bulma stated.
Rain's lips parted slightly. "Are you sure Bulma? I mean we both knew they wouldn't last. But that's still a hell of a lot longer than we definitely thought they'd last. Just how many times did you test the components? Sorry, I'm just having a bit of a hard time believing they would last as long as you just said they would" The younger woman exclaimed in disbelief.
"It's like I said. I tested them several times. Eight times, to be exact. And the results always came back the same each time. So I'm one hundred percent positive. The suppressant will last about three to four months. Well, in your case probably closer to three. Seeing as it's been a little over a month already since you dosed him with the suppressant. So your still good for a while." Bulma assured her.
Rain let her steely gaze shift back to Frieza who was still standing where she left him. Which was across the room. She can only hope that he can't hear the conversation that's going on between her and Bulma. Rain tried to keep her voice low and quiet, while her eyes would shoot back to him several times to see if he's staring in her direction. For the most part he was. But that doesn't mean he could hear what they were talking about. Though Rain has a feeling she may have to tell him at some point. He's already bugging her on when he will get his powers back. Each time she would tell him she didn't know. Which always put a scowl on his face.
A couple times he became angry and yelled at her. And accused Rain of lying. She'd argue back with him and convince him she wasn't lying. Of course the arcosian warrior didn't believe her. After another screaming match, they'd part ways. She'd run into her room and slam the door, just as he done the same. Then it would lead to them not talking for a little while. She found the silent treatment never seemed to last long with them. Eventually, one of them would strike up a conversation at some point after.
Rain looked away again. "Alright, Bulma. I'll take your word for it. The problem is he's getting agitated with each day he's without his abilities."
There was a slight pause on the line, before Bulma spoke again.
"I still don't understand what it is your trying to accomplish, Rain. Take it from someone who met the guy on several separate occasions. I'm telling you...He. Won't. Change. The sooner you realize this, the better. It still worries me, along with the rest of us that your in such close quarters to the little pipsqueak of a tyrant." She stated.
Rain smiles. "Don't worry, Bulma. I'll be fine, I promise. As for what I'm trying to accomplish...I let you know, when I find an answer."
She hears the older woman sigh over the phone.
"Alright, just remember. Try not to let your guard down too much around him. He's notorious for pulling things when you least expect it." Bulma warned her.
Rain's smirk widens. "What a coincidence. I'm pretty notorious for that too. You should've seen the look on his face when I put Ex-Lax in his drink the other day."
The ex-sniper heard laughter coming from the blue haired scientist.
"Ok, I get it. Clearly you have been putting him in his place whenever he gives you a hard time." She said, between peels of laughter.
Rain then heard a shuffling sound and a muffled voice in the background on Bulma's end. After a moment the older woman spoke again.
"Sorry, to cut this call short. But Trunks has been bugging me since earlier this afternoon to take him to that new park in town. So I might as well get it over with while there is still some sunlight left. Please be careful. And continue with your calls and text updates with me. You know the drill, if you have any questions for me." She reminded Rain.
"Yeah, Thanks Bulma. Tell Trunks I said, 'Hi' and to have fun at the park." Rain said.
There was some more muffled talking in the background and Bulma telling them to 'be patient and hold on a sec'.
"Ok, Sweetie. I'll talk to you later. Bye." She said.
"Later, Bulma." Rain replied back.
Then the call officially ended. Rain walked back over to where Frieza was. Who apparently got bored of waiting for her. And was now punching the bag. Though he stopped when he spotted Rain walking over. She came to a stop a couple feet away from him.
"What was that all about?" He asked.
Rain just shrugs. "Nothing much, just another daily call from Bulma."
He raised an eye ridge. "Didn't she already call you earlier today? And if I can recall, she had you on the phone for a good solid hour."
She smirks at him. "What can I say. Girls love their gossip."
Frieza snorts and grumbles something under his breath, as he laid in a few more punches to the bag. Rain wanted to inquire what just happened between them right before the phone rang. But she figures he wouldn't want to talk about it. Either that, or shrug it off completely. As if nothing ever happened. Rain went to the opposite side of the bag and joined in, exchanging her own hits.
"So, you want to go back to sparring? Or just continue to take it out on the bag?" She asked between hits.
He paused for a moment. "This is fine."
That was all he said to her. They practiced in silence. After another twenty minutes, Rain started getting a bit tired. So she called it quits. She ask him if he was coming back up. Without so much of a glance. He told her he will be up in a little while. Rain's not sure why. But his detached dismissal about the whole thing hurt her a bit.
She just huffed out a 'fine'. Before she turned around, made her way across the room, and left. What Rain failed to notice, is that Frieza watched her the whole time until she was out of sight. Then he directed his gaze back to the bag. He clenched his jaw and narrowed his eyes, as he laid in harder on the bag.
Two chapters in one day. Hey, I had to make up for the last two days I didn't post a chapter. So, I hope everyone enjoyed this eye opening chapter. Looks like Frieza and Rain found themselves in a rather awkward situation before. And truth is, there is most likely more to come in later chapters. Until Next Time ;)
