The Word of Malice

I have and always will be. When the first life form feared the dark, I was there watching from the Shadows. When the first betrayal occurred, I was the voice that whispered in the killer's ear. When meaningless rebellion first broke out, I was the drive that pushed the rebels. I am fear. I am treachery. I am anarchy. I am Malice.

But then the Four came. From the Primordial Aether came the Four Gods. One after the other took my place in different ways and drove me away from my place as the First. But still, I waited in the shadows, pushing those that would listen in the right direction.

Then came the Night Haunter. Born on Nostramo, he was everything I needed in a follower. In an Avatar. He was cruel and sadistic. Without hope of a better tomorrow. And best of all... he radiated fear. While the Four would find their Daemon Princes, I found mine first. He was mine the moment he was born. He just didn't know it yet.

Over time, The Night Haunter began to embrace who he truly was: A monster without conscience or care. He killed and tortured, even if he convinced himself it was for a noble cause. Even when the Anathema took him in, he was always a monster. He was mine before he was His.

Then the fall came. The Anathema fell. Horus fell. The War continued, but the Night Haunter did not. He fell into despair and accepted death at the hands of the Anathema's assassins. I continued. I gained new follows. I gained the Sons of Malice. I grew in power, but never enough to challenge the Four. They had all but usurped me and it could not continue like this. I needed my Avatar.

I came to my Sons. I whispered in their ears. I instructed them in the way to bring back the Night Haunter. My number was eleven and that had to be the way it was done. The skull of the Night Haunter was acquired from his sons and the ritual began. Eleven slaves killed eleven slaves and those slaves were killed by eleven slaves. 11 times 11 times 11 times 11 times 11. From the skull, the Night Haunter grew anew. He was reborn as my shared vessel. I could not do it without him. He was mine, but he also had to be his own.

Now, my Sons of Malice, I am on the rise. The Night Lords Legion is coming together. The Red Corsairs have joined the cause of True Chaos and soon more will come. The Alpha Legion are on the way to embracing me as their true God and soon another will rise alongside you all. I whisper with the Night Haunter and he whispers with me. Silence is how we fight, but whispers are how we communicate. For in the end, we do not need noise. We do not need the cries of Blood for the Blood God. We do not need to play music to usher in the Family of Nurgle. We are terror. We are Chaos. We are Malice and we will rule again.

Author's Note: Time to get into the head of the true big bad. Now, I know some people aren't fans of Malice as a concept. Well, I'm sorry to say that the person responsible for introducing me to this is Luetin09. If you have any problems with that, you should go watch his videos and click the like button and subscribe to him as revenge. Just don't leave any nasty comments that insult him or his mother. He would be expecting that. Instead, you should be nice to him. Youtubers HATE when people are nice to them and appreciate their work!

But in all seriousness, Luetin09 is probably the youtuber most responsible for getting me into 40k. I love his videos and his video on Malice and its history in universe and IRL is my favorite. It was pretty much the reason why I decided Malice would be the Chaos God working in the background. I love Malice as a concept since, and I agree with Luetin on this, it represents unstructured Chaos. With the Four Gods, you have rules and boundaries in which they work. They have their own avenues and they stick to it. Malice is Chaos and anarchy unbound and untempered and that's why I decided to have Curze as the secondary Big Bad. Malice's way of doing things fits so well with Curze's methods that they are a match made in hell.

So I decided to come up with a kind of origin story for Malice and why it fell from power when the Four main Chaos Gods rose to prominence in the Warp. I hope you like this as an explanation for Malice and as a small explanation of how Curze truly came back to life. Thanks for reading and check out Luetin09.
