A character who had the same heartbreak as Ashe during the previous chapter will have her backstory explained.
Valeria Gregory was born in Gaspard Terriotry on the 16th day of the Pegasus Moon of the Adrestian Year 1163. She had Grassy green hair and sapphire blue eyes. She is sixteen years old. She is also 165 cm tall.
Valeria did not have a normal birth since her mother died when she was born and her father died at an accident. The orphaned child was then sent into an orphanage in Gaspard Territory, where she did not grow up as a normal child.
She would get into fights or fall ill easily. One night, she ventured outside the orphanage to get some fresh air, where she saw a silver haired boy hiding from some thugs. The boy introduced himself as Ashe and he told her that he was struggling to survive in order to take care of his brother and sister.
Valeria saw the injuries the boy had and went to the orphanage, returning with some bandages. As she wrapped the injuries with the bandages and helped nurse the boy back to health.
Ashe was very thankful and promised to repay her one day. Valeria smiled for the first since she finally had a friend.
Six years later, Valeria was struggling with her illness, fearing her life has come to an end. However, instead of death, she saw the silhouette of a man. That man was the lord of Gaspard Territory, Lonato Gildas Gaspard.
The lord was told about a young girl at an orphanage who was not having a better life. Valeria stated that the girl was her, but she knows she does not have much to live due to an illness.
Lonato felt remorseful amd took the girl into his castle, where she reunited with Ashe and met his younger siblings, Zachary and Aliana.
After Valeria was nursed back to health, she became a squire for the Gaspard royal family, where she would protect Ashe and the eldest son of Lonato, Christophe.
In the Adrestian Year 1176, a knight named Gustave Eddie Dominic left his daughter Annette in Lonato's care, knowing that her care is more important than his own.
Young Annette begged for her father to come back, but the man had left. Valeria had to cheer Annette up. Suddenly, Christophe took Annette back to Dominic Territory, fearing that the darkness would soon come to Gaspard territory.
Christophe and Gustave never returned. The Tragedy of Duscur ocurred, killing Gustave and Christophe was executed for presumably participating in it.
Valeria couldn't cry because she knew if she cried, she would be a disgrace to the knights of Gaspard. Ashe cheered her up from her indecision to express herself. And she was thankful.
In the Adrestian Year 1180, both Ashe and Valeria were attending the Officers Academy. The latter was surprised and confused since she was a commoner knight and not the child of a noble.
Lonato states that Valeria is like a child to him and nothing will ever change that. That expression made her happy and thus, she accepted the enrollment to the Officers Academy.
As soon as Ashe and Valeria entered the Officers Academy, they were reunited with Annette, but her hair was not bright orange like Gustave, instead, it was completely white. They also met Prince Dimitri, who was kind towards them, however, Valeria knew something was wrong with Dimitri.
One night, when bandits attacked, Valeria heard a scream. She thought it was a female villager screaming for help, but it wasn't a villager. It was Lucretia when she ecountered something that may change the routine of Fodlan for the year.
